“Let’s go ahead inside” I say, stepping to the side to allow Cassie to go up the stairs, I follow behind her anxiously. She opens the old screen door and holds it open behind her allowing me to follow. “You have a lovely home” She says as she looks around the small living room that is still covered in old photographs of mine and my fathers childhoods. I smile at her compliment, knowing my grandfather would have cracked some joke about his old southern décor. “Thank you , this is actually my grandfather’s old home. I just lay claim to it when I visit” I tell her awkwardly as I try and curb my nerves. “Please, sit wherever you like. We can sit here in the living room, or the kitchen if you’d prefer to be at a table” I tell her as I try to mask the anxiety trimmers I feel beginning to take over my entire body. Cassie adjusted the items in her arms and replied in her cheery tone. “Let’s go to the kitchen, that way I can take notes easier” I nod in response and motion for her to follow me to the kitchen. We walk through the small living room and through the narrow doorway that leads to the kitchen. It still has the scent of morning coffee dancing in the air, and the sunlight is beaming into the space even more than it had just an hour earlier. Tucked in the corner of the kitchen is a small solid wood table with four matching chairs around it. Just like the coffee pot, the table had seen better days. It was an antique when my grandmother bought it when she was still alive, and it had survived two rough and tough boys, and a hell raising little girl. Cassie made her way over to the table and started sitting her things down as she pulled out the end chair. “Can I get you a drink or anything?” I ask her as I pour myself another cup of coffee. “Coffee would be wonderful” She says as she opens her laptop. I walk over to the cabinet by the fridge once more, pulling out a random mug from the top shelf. “Do you take cream or sugar?” I ask her as I close the cabinet. “Just black is perfect” She tells me as she opens her note book. I grabbed the coffee pot once more and pour her cup, this is when I notice just how bad my trimmers were currently, and I instantly felt intense embarrassment. Seeing my obvious unease made me feel weak, it made me feel like I couldn’t do this after all, like maybe this was all a huge mistake. “So I have to ask” She trails off as I make my way over to the table clutching our mugs. “Is Riot your actual name?” She questions hesitantly. I giggle at the comment, I can’t even count how many times I’ve been asked this same question. “Yes, Riot is actual name.” I tell her as I sit the mug next to her note book. “I had to ask, I know typically wrestlers use stage names, and I couldn’t find much information on yours specifically when I googled it” She admits as she takes a sip of her drink. I stretch my arms out across the table as I lean back in my chair, trying desperately to relax my body and mind as I reply. “It’s because Riot is my name. Riot Elizabeth Hardy if you want the full thing” I say as I focus in on the heat radiating of the mug in my hands. Cassie jots down a note in her book, I can faintly see her writing my name inside of it. We sit in awkward silence for a moment, attempting to make small talk about her drive here and how she struggled to find the road that lead her here, how the three houses threw her off and that she was worried she was driving up to the wrong one. I tried to joke with her and make some comment about there was no wrong house here, but as suspected, it fell flat. “Now, before we begin this I just want to go over a few things” She tells me as she pulls a small voice recorder from her blazer pocket. I tensed up in my seat immediately, this was it, the interview was starting, and nothing would ever be the same in my life again after it.

Imagine a rapper who can create a whole new sound and style of music, blending dark and experimental beats with southern and dirty rap influences. A rapper who can produce his own tracks, as well as collaborate with some of the biggest names in the industry. A rapper who can start a movement and inspire a generation of artists. Now imagine that this rapper is largely ignored, disrespected, and blacklisted by the mainstream media and the rap community. This is the story of SpaceGhostPurrp, the underground legend who shaped a generation.

SpaceGhostPurrp was born in Miami, Florida, where he grew up listening to artists like Three 6 Mafia, DJ Screw, Eazy-E, and Lil Jon. He started making music at a young age, uploading his songs and videos on YouTube in 2010. He quickly gained a cult following for his unique sound and aesthetic, which he called "phonk". He also founded the Raider Klan, a collective of like-minded artists from across the country, such as Denzel Curry, Chris Travis, Xavier Wulf, and Yung Simmie.

His career reached new heights in 2011, when he met A$AP Rocky and joined forces with A$AP Mob. He produced some of the most iconic tracks for Rocky's debut mixtape 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚.𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚.𝘼$𝘼𝙋, such as "Pretty Flacko", "Keep It G", and "Purple Swag Chapter 2". He also worked with other stars like Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Uzi Vert, and Project Pat. However, his relationship with Rocky soon turned sour, as he felt betrayed and cheated by him. He accused Rocky of stealing his lyrics, his style, and his credit. He claimed that Rocky copied Raider Klan's sound and aesthetic, and that he offered him a lowball deal to sign with him. He also alleged that Rocky lied about his sexuality and tried to blacklist him in the industry.

Purrp and Rocky engaged in a bitter feud, exchanging diss tracks, interviews, and social media posts. Their crews also got involved, leading to violent clashes and arrests. SpaceGhostPurrp eventually cut ties with Rocky and A$AP Mob. He continued to release music independently, dropping over 60 mixtapes and EPs since 2012. His most notable project is his debut studio album Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, which was released in 2012 by British label 4AD. The album received rave reviews for its original and innovative production, which fused elements of southern hip hop, cloud rap, trap, dirty rap, experimental rap tread rap.

SpaceGhostPurrp is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the underground hip hop scene. He is credited for pioneering a new wave of rap music that inspired many artists of today. His sound and style have been emulated by rappers like Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Yachty, XXXTentacion, Ski Mask the Slump God, Bones, $uicideboy$, Pouya, Night Lovell, Ghostemane, and many more. He is also respected for his independent spirit and his loyalty to his crew. Despite his fallouts with other artists and his controversial public persona, he remains a legend in the eyes of his fans and peers. SpaceGhostPurrp is not just a rapper or a producer; he is a visionary who shaped a generation.

Yeah I Want Your Video definitely gives those vibes and it did seem pretty serious yeah. Like interviews mentioned how he did talk about her so....I dunno. I hate stuff like this cos there's always the what ifs. Like we know there were breaks now in the relationship.

But I do agree that if it isn't recent why sit on it. Likelihood that it is recent and that's why they're doing it. But it's also like you said. They knew about G-Eazy and I think Karl? But you could see certain things from her Instagram so....

The fact they reported that they broke up a while back and are now seeing it wasn't until fall is sus to me too. I still think you guys are right. Before they were last pictured together (and didn't look happy which is so sad) there used to be more of them and then nothing of him on her feed at all.

Be sad if he did and I'd like to think he didn't (even as someone whose slipped up themselves) and that it's someone making stuff up. For what reason though :( 🐇

March 2024 favourites

Throughout the past few months I've seen several people catalogue their monthly interests in this way, and it's intrigued me as I don't know anyone else who likes to categorise things as much as I do. Maybe I'm just an immensely nostalgic person who is terrified of forgetting things from my youth, which, I'm not going to lie, is starting to hinder me a little! Anyways, this is my first try at this, bear with me.

Film(s)

Saw Dune: Part Two in theatres and holy shit, what an experience that was - it truly is the blockbuster franchise of our time. However, no matter how good the movie itself was, it still left me confused as i hadn't made any effort beforehand to understand the plot. I remember feeling the exact same sense of confusion when I came out of the cinema in 2021 after seeing the first part of Dune. Turns out all I had to do was watch a single Youtube video explaining how the Dune universe works in order to be completely engrossed by the world! If only my stubbornness and refusal to give sci-fi movies the time of day, a genre i've never enjoyed much, hadn't stopped me from wanting to understand it all these years.

Another thing that kept me on my toes all month was the promo for Challengers starting, which releases in theatres next month!! I can't believe we're actually getting a love triangle on screen where ALL corners touch. What a monumental event in history indeed.

Also, special mention: Swann Arlaud, Twitter's It-Boy of the Month!!! Well, at least my TL is flooded with pictures and interviews of him, which I'm actually not mad about, not mad at all.

Bars

Usually March is a really tough month, one full of despair and stress. While that was still the case this year, I tried balancing it out by spending more time with friends. It's been lovely spending long Friday evenings in bars, even if I did feel a little distant at times. Strange how one can feel dissociated in a large group and yet still feel like they belong - it only starts being unbearable the moment you begin to feel like an anomaly that is entirely out of place. Our brains work in fascinating ways; regardless, I'm just glad to have spent more time outside of my home. Is this what enjoying my youth feels like?

Skincare

I only properly began about a week ago, but i've been having so much fun establishing, or rather enhancing my skincare routine. I used to brag about not taking care of my skin at all, which looking back was absolutely tragic. Now I'm very pleased with how far I've come in terms of taking care of my own body, at least with this little routine I have.

Music

I've been finding so much new music lately!! Over the last two weeks, there genuinely hasn't been a day where I didn't find at least two songs to my liking. Been listening to a ton of German music as well as any other genre I can think of - from rock, alternative/indie to hip-hop, rap, techno, pop, just anything that comes my way. Books

I read How To Get A Girl Pregnant by Karleen Pendleton Jimenez, a memoir of sorts about a queer butch woman trying to get pregnant, and oh my god. The grip that book had on me was unbelievable, it simply felt so distinctly human and helped ease my anxiety about my future as a queer person a little. It's advice that straight parents cannot give their queer child, and I couldn't help but soak it all up. It's available online in pdf format, btw.

Also, I finally finished my third reread of my first All the Young Dudes copy that I started reading in November I believe? I'm afraid those characters, that story, and that fandom will always be a part of me, as it's been three years now, and my fixation isn't waning one bit. Forgot to mention that I began reading The Secret History after putting it off for literally a year or two, which I'm very excited about. So far it's incredible, however pages 44 and 45 left such a deep pit in my stomach that I had to put it down for a few days. Hopefully I'll be done with it by the end of April, as next month may be the most stressful of my entire life so far.

Jack Harlow and Saweetie have become the latest trending topics on Twitter, and it stems from an interaction they shared just a couple of days ago. 

During the red carpet entry part of the BET Awards 2021 on Sunday (June 27), Harlow pulled up on Saweetie and appeared to shoot his shot at the Warner Records artist, who dated Quavo until they split earlier this year. As Saweetie spoke to a reporter for an interview, Harlow took her by the hand and introduced himself. “I’m Jack,” Harlow said in the moment, to which Saweetie responded with, “I know.” 

From there, they got into a friendly back-and-forth that saw Saweetie, who collaborated with Harlow for her “Tap In” remix last year, ask the “What’s Poppin” rapper why he’s shaking. After that, Harlow quickly responded by placing his hand on top of Saweetie’s. Displaying an unaffected cool, he replied, “Who’s shaking?” 

Naturally, Twitter had a lot to say about the moment, with some commenting on how cute they think the two could be as a couple and others speaking out on whether it was Harlow or Saweetie who was actually nervous.

it’s all just ~alleged~ but the initial rumors started going around last summer after the st4 premiere (ik people think she wasn’t there but you can see her in the after party pics) & lollapalooza. he wasn’t wearing her necklace, his friends unfollowed her, etc. he had an interview done @ lolla where he talked about his gemini girlfriend and then it was radio silence. they’ve also kinda been on/off throughout the relationship (a break in 2021) but joe likes to keep quiet (unless you wanna dissect his lyrics) so we’ll never know.

anyway: according to the podcast: deuxmoi was ~told~ that joe cheated on her a few times over the years, the last time being right before the breakup in fall of 2022. this was also the same time she was seen with g-eazy but the karl glusman pics/rumors were waaaay before this. a lot of people think they were over some time after july. his former stylist who is one of maika’s best friends did NOT unfollow him which is why i would take the joe serial cheating rumors with a grain of salt. it’s a hot mess but joe & her seem to be definitely done.

“I know you were very reluctant to do this” She begins. “And I am so thankful that you chose to trust me to do this. As I’ve told you over the phone, hearing a small portion of your story was so compelling, and I feel that you deserve the chance to tell your truth in its entirety. With that being said, please do not hesitate to decline to comment, or to completely end the interview. I can only imagine how difficult this may be for you, and I want you to know it’s totally fine to stop and revisit, that’s why I allotted at least 3 interview days to meet in case you needed time to process or to just give your emotions a break” She tells me in her warm tone. Truth be told, I was thankful for the reassurance. I knew I trusted her, and that she wouldn’t pry for information I may not be ready to share. “ I really appreciate that” I say as I look down at my mug, trying to hold back the tears I feel swelling in my eyes. “I’m going to start my recorder now, are you ready?” She asks while holding the small recorder in her left hand. An interesting thing I noticed is that Joe still mentioned his "girlfriend" in several Lollapalooza interviews but MM started liking G-Eazy's ig posts less than 2 weeks after those interviews would have happened. I don't think MM and Karl were ever more than a casual hook-up, at least on her end.

Omg I didn’t know she was interacting with him that far back!

But yeah I think they were on thin ice even back when he mentioned her in those interviews because that’s the time frame I speculated they broke up for good.
