Violet and Geronimo: seriously we need a crossover involving the two please

So here's the dealio. I've got way too much time not-studying that I'm giving myself, and whenever this happens in particular, I am reminded of the fact that these two have not met in-canon yet, excluding every single Italian-only book where Geronimo meets the Thea Sisters for interview shenanigans ever (like the one time Thea got married). Whenever these thoughts spiral, I am left to think about how similar and yet different these two are, and I'm now thinking of ideas where they switch spots for a limited time. So here's a thesis on why I hyperfixate on these two in particular, their similarities and differences, and all the entertaining shenanigans we can get from these two hanging out.

Let's begin with the general stuff, specifically the general agreement that yes, these two are very similar to each other. Even looking at these two generally, it's clear that they're very similar to each other. Think about it: a shy, sensitive bookworm who's into classical music, gets motion-sick easily, and tends to get dragged into shenanigans that they sometimes can't be bothered with. Yeah, it describes both of them, doesn't it? Besides the "sometimes" part, everything matches both of them perfectly-- in Geronimo's case, he always gets dragged into shenanigans he can't be bothered with, every single time; meanwhile with Violet, if I had a nickel for every time her sleep or routine was shut down by either the plot or her friends, I would have a handful of nickels and one sleep-deprived Violet in the Caribbean. Anyway, there's that. The both of them are crazy similar in canon.

For the more niche things they have in common, both of them are planners; they hate being told things at the last minute and being dragged into things they never planned for, unless it's something urgent. Both of them have terrible luck in things they do (Geronimo's entire series is fueled by his bad luck, and Violet has gotten screwed over in the special editions by RNGesus so much that her alive state is held together by duct tape and chewing gum), both of them are night owls who like sleeping in and waking up late and chilling inside all day (see Geronimo's Awesome Agenda for an Amazing Afternoon, and Violet's vacation plan in Prince's Emerald until plot happened and the one time Colette called Violet "lazy" in one of the Thea Sisters' secret diaries in the Italian series--), and they both love art of the traditional/classical variety.

(Both of them also have unconventional pets-- Violet has Frilly the cricket and Geronimo has Hannibal the goldfish. I can't believe I'm only noticing this now.)

Canon also likes to bring this up. I dunno if this carries into the later books in Italian/not-English, but Thea in the early books is implied to have a soft spot for Violet. Thea opened conversation with her in Dragon's Code and gave her advice, later in the same book she is shown pondering about Violet and how she'd get along with the other girls, and I will ask you right now to read the non-English translations of Ghost of the Shipwreck because they are very cute and Violet giving Thea the Jade of Truth in the original plot (that Scholastic completely butchered) gives me the same energy as a kid timidly showing their parent a drawing they made, and I adore it. As far as I know, the Thea Sisters' existence in the Geronimo Stilton franchise is only brought up in special Geronimo Stilton books that are unfortunately not translated to English and probably never will be :'D. In the Italian books, there are books where the Thea Sisters cameo for Geronimo to interview them on certain things happening, like that one time Thea was getting married. No, it wasn't a bluff, apparently.

Anyway, now that we have their similarities fleshed out, what would a crossover situation offer? Why would this be palatable? And to that I say, it's the differences between the two sillies, which can be summarized in one sentence:

Geronimo is resting angel face, Violet is resting bitch face.

I make it a point to establish that Violet has canonically dished out THE most shade out of all the girls, being capable of roasting anyone and everyone just from listening to them and then opening her mouth (Secret Invention had Colette deal with the Karen students from Mousebridge, I'm telling you right now if Violet didn't have to babysit a group of wholesome Russians and was stuck with them, we would’ve have roasted Brits on the buffet). From her own friends to pretentious jerks to menacing villains, Violet has roasted every single one of them at least once. Imagine if G and Vi had a crossover where maybe they're sharing things about their interests and having a good bonding time together, and then Trap or someone else suddenly bursts in like "HI G I'M ABOUT TO BE A DICK TO YOU AND PEER PRESSURE YOU INTO ROLLING WITH IT", and then Violet simply roasts the living crap out of whoever it was in a way only Violet can. For example, a scenario:

Trap: Hi, G! I just got a coupon to a cool restaurant in town! Wanna come along?

G: Wait, really? You mean it?

Trap: Yeah! Cross my heart and hope to die, this is legit!

G: Why, thank you! I'll be more than happy to come along, but I do have Violet here, so erm...

Trap: She can come along if she wants!

Violet: Oh, I couldn't possibly. I doubt the coupon would cover a third person.

Trap: Don't worry about it! It's all on me!

Violet: No, I'd hate to take a chunk out of this coupon's coverage just because I'm tagging along.

Trap: It's fine! I'll take care of it!

transition weee, all of the food was very spicy because it was a new Southeast-Asian restaurant and also Trap hoarded like crazy, and plot twist, Trap never had a coupon and was planning on paying for the meal with Geronimo's credit card

G: *silently crying over the price of the meal because of Trap's binge-eating*

Trap: Whoo! That was delicious! My compliments to the chef! What'd you two think of the meal? It was nice, right?

Violet: It was, yes. We should eat out again next time, my treat.

Trap: You mean it??

Violet: Of course. A friend of Geronimo's is a friend of mine. Please don't see me as a stranger because we just met today.

Trap: Geronimo, this girl's so nice! How'd you meet her?!

G: S-she's Thea's student visiting from Mouseford for an interview... *silent sob*

Trap: Whoa, cool! We should totally hang out today!

Violet: I'm afraid I can't. I have things to do later. We should keep in touch, though. Feel free to call if you need anything.

G: Wait, WHAT--

Trap: Cool!!

G: Violet wait no you don't understand--

Trap: This is-- holy crap-- we should ex--

Violet: I'm terribly sorry for the interruption, but I must go. We'll keep in touch, don't worry.

Trap: Okayokayokay here's my-- OOOHHH IT'S DESSERT TIME!

it was only until after that lunch that Trap realized three things: Violet never gave him nor Geronimo her phone number, she never received Trap's phone number, and Violet's interview with G that day was already finished, so she technically had nothing else to do in NMC.

I also find immense entertainment in swapping out G for Violet in certain situations, like for example getting dragged into something she never wanted to do. Violet is the exact opposite of G in terms of the whole doormat situation, because she does NOT let people walk all over her, and she isn't the type to tolerate behavior that irritates her. In fact, she is the type of person to passive-aggressively remind people of her presence if they do stuff that pisses her off without any acknowledgement of her presence. If she passive-aggressively called both Colette and Pam out because their behaviors pissed her off (Colette multiple times for her diva thing in the early books and Pam because she liked blasting rock music in her dorm), then just imagine how much smoke would be filling the room from her dealing with people like William, Wild Willie, Bruce Hyena (which is funny because he was her professor at one point), Hercule Poirat, and moooaarrrr. She’d be roasting them so hard that the smoke alarms would be triggered homies, it would be beautiful. Yes this is why I hyperfixate on these two so much, having them interact would be so entertaining, especially how much G’s and thus Vi’s behaviors tend to get roasted by the members of the Geronimo Stilton cast.

C’mon, G’s watching a historical documentary being called “boring” and “old news” by Trap? Thea and Trap both calling G boring because he’s an indoor person and enjoys a peaceful and mundane life? Wild Willie and Bruce telling G that he’s as exciting as a clam and really needs to go out more?? Do you hear the wok hay sizzling yet? You’d better be, because deep-fried mice is on the menu tonight and the serving is so big that only the two-handed wok was big enough to house it :]

Anyway, you get the idea, Geronimo can’t assert himself to save his life, Violet asserts herself to the point of being a roast lord, amazing, hilarious, would like to see these two gel with each other and deal with each others’ crap. Aight that’s enough from me, I’ll let you come to your own conclusions about it :3

Hello! It's been 5 months since we reactivated the Zentreya Twitch VODs channel. I'm Rayterni reporting back with everything that we have made so far. Due to YouTube’s limitations we’re posting the update here. Feel free to skip to the parts that you want. We hope you enjoy the read! TL;DR: 400 VODs! Playlists! Timestamps! ALL Guilds & Geckos! 400 VODS

We’re about to cross the 400 VODs mark this week (they are already being uploaded as you read this), as we rapidly catch up with the recent streams! Two days ago we completed publishing 223 VODs in 5 months (71 in 3 days alone), totaling 382 VODs published! Literally thousands of hours worth of streams that were deemed lost forever are now here for all to re-watch, so check out the VIDEOS tab!

PLAYLISTS

We’re also introducing Playlists. It's still at the very early stages, but they can rapidly become the main way of browsing through the VODs according to your interests. Themes such as "SPOOKTEMBER" and "SHOCKTOBER", "New outfit debut", some of Zen’s favorite games and the highly requested "Guilds & Geckos" series have already been added. Feel free to suggest us more! We’re gonna have Playlists for months and years as well since we are not uploading in chronological order. Check out the PLAYLISTS tab to access all of them.

We believe ALL the G&G VODs have already been published at this point, despite some of them not showing up to everybody due to YouTube’s region block. But we are working on having this fixed!

TIMESTAMPS

Some of the fans have been voluntarily contributing by adding timestamps to the comments section of the VODs, and we very much appreciate it! In special we would like to thank @WadeTunnell for timestamping lots of recent VODs. This is very helpful to everybody. We planned on start doing this ourselves in the future but this is not one of our priorities right now. So thank you very much to those doing so, and if you feel like doing more while you are watching, you are always welcome.

A BIT OF STORY TIME, AND THE 2D AND 3D CYBORG ZEN DEBUTS!

This channel started out on July 11, 2021, and has been maintained by Zentreya's moderators Barefoot Ellecktric and Shadow Ben, who have been doing an absolutely amazing job through the years! Thanks to them we could keep track of Zentreya's everyday streaming adventures through nothing less than 159 VODs, comprising the whole of the dragon Zen 2.0 era. To the people who have been watching Zen during all those years it's heartwarming to know that so many precious moments have been preserved for posterity. And to the people who are new to the community this is an incredible archive of one of the pioneer vtubers who paved the way for so many others, and who still keeps pushing the scene to the limits, together with her friends, community, artists and vtubers of all sizes.

Unfortunately, due to life and work, the uploads stopped on March 27, 2022. Since then the community relied on Zen's official channel with clips and shorts, but also on fan channels that have been posting VODs here and there whenever possible, some of them regularly. Other fans and friends have preferred to keep their archives offline in backups, in hopes that it could be of help some day. This kind community effort would later be once again vital for the reactivation of this channel.

On July 4, 2023, I joined Zentreya's clippers team and asked her, Ben and Barefoot permission to reactivate this channel, already offering my personal collection of 121 VODs, mostly from the cyborg Zen era. It was an honor for me to have been trusted with this task. On August 12, 2023, the first VOD from this batch was published, which was "LAST DAY AS A DRAGON. 5 MORE DAYS. (05/15/2022)". This was Zentreya's last stream before the big debut of her cyborg model, which would start an entirely new chapter to her career, including new lore contents - Recently Zentreya has announced on her 6 years anniversary that the coexistence of the two Zens, the cyborg and the dragon, is now official within the lore!

Due to the nature how Twitch works and the precarious ways of downloading the VODs, some of them got corrupted in our backup files, including the 2D and 3D debuts of cyborg Zen. These same VODs were found in another fan channel on YouTube, but unfortunately the channel was deleted before we could contact the author. Such relevant VODs would only be recovered months later when another fan, DeadPark, left a message in the comments section of the announcement video, offering to help with a personal collection of 200+ VODs. Before that, 125 others were contributed by 2 other fans who preferred to remain anonymous. So here they are:

Zentreya has managed to build an amazing community over the years, of fans and friends willing to help keep her legacy alive. All this effort is a labor of love for our favorite toaster, who never ceases to impress us every day with her energy and creativity, her unique comedy, a true passion for vtubing, life, her friends and community. It's the same passion that moves us to now share the joy that we have re-watching her with everybody.

THE BEST COMMUNITY

Ever since we reactivated this channel we had such a positive response from the public, the community, whether it's here on YouTube, on Twitter, Twitch, Discord, and we would like to thank all of you for that. The work is far from done, there's still a lot of VODs to upload, and it needs to be a continuous effort for the time being. But it fills us with even more passion to know that you are here together with us. We would like to share some of the comments that we received and that truly keep us more and more motivated to continue with this task:

From the outside Castiel Novak looks like a regular guy: a good job, two teenage kids, a nice house and a crappy car he’s way too attached to.

But there’s one thing no one knows about him: that, over twenty years ago, he used to live next to none other than Dean Winchester – back then a brash and loud-mouthed boy and nowadays a huge movie star and Hollywood’s sweetheart.

Castiel never bothered to tell anyone about his childhood friend because frankly, who would believe him? Probably even Dean himself already forgot about his former awkward and weird neighbor, so Castiel seriously doesn’t see any point in mentioning the whole thing ever.

But then an interview on national TV happens where Dean reveals way more about his past than ever before … and Castiel - as well as the rest of the world - suddenly realizes that he left a much bigger impact on Dean’s life than he originally thought.

“The Dragon’s Flame” [4k, G]

Wangxian Fic Recs Presents: Time Travel Fix-Its

Summary: A cultivation accident in the future destroys Mo XuanYu's frail body and sends Wei WuXian's soul back into the past, in his six-year-old body. This time, armed with the knowledge of his future self and his love for his beloved Lan WangJi, he decides to rewrite his destiny and protect those he loves. Will the YiLing Patriarch have a happier life this time?

My comments: Okay. I sat down and read this over 2 days (I had to finally go to sleep at 2am) basically without a break. It's a fast read, and can I just say how impressed I am with how deftly Author handled so many characters all in the same scenes? (That's not an easy trick to carry off.)

Essentially, Wei WuXian gets an opportunity to start over, his consciousness transferred to his 6-year-old body... in the middle of the dog attack, of course. And this time around, Wei WuXian is going to change EVERYTHING HE CAN to ensure that everyone is happy and healthy. Also, he wants to see his Lan Zhan as soon as possible, so fakes a soulmark (he's heard people telling stories about that) which somehow becomes real, because of course it does. So we follow these little kids for the next 14 years (they stay very young for the whole first story, and in the middle one they're tweens). Madame Yu watches with interest as their little stray slowly but surely pulls members of all the Big Four clans around him, weaving them into each other's lives with his bright smiles and fierce loyalty.

Both kids have the power of their adult selves, so work some pretty amazing feats, and the adults of the Four Clans gather round to staunchly defend and train them.

Basically, it's a time-travel, everyone-lives-no-one-dies fix-it, and it was simply a pleasure to read. (There's still plenty of angst, and drama, and hurt/comfort and danger... so don't think it's all fluff and domesticity.) In addition to picking up everyone they did last time, or SHOULD have last time, they also acquire some babies. Well, eggs, which hatch into their beloved children. A dragon, tortoise+snake, phoenix and tiger. By the time the second story is finished, I think they've got 7 kids and are still no older than 15, heh. Wei WuXian is an over-the-top drama-mama (they all call him Mama), but if anyone he loves is hurt or threatened, he turns into a frighteningly powerful and dark force to be reckoned with.

The arc with Wen RuoHan is interesting: he begins as a frightening, creepy/inappropriate, soulless dark character and slowly grows and learns a few things and his obsession with Wei Wuxian over the years seems to teach him a few things.

The bulk of the story is the first three installments: the others are short timestamps. Don't worry about MCD tags (it's like reincarnation). Underage is adult minds in ten year old bodies chastely kissing, basically (if you're the type to pass on a story for that reason).

And They Lived Happily Ever After...

My comments: Cute story, all three boys are very sweet and trying hard. wwx is not in good shape, and they just want to feed him and play with young a-yuan. (later, they get to see infant jin ling, too)

Waiting

Summary: This story starts with Wei Ying falling to his death from that cliff at Nevernight. Of course he doesn't die, or does he? When he finds himself at the jingshi where Wangji is kneeling in the snow, waiting for his mama to come back, Wei Ying wonders what he is nowadays; spirit, ghost, or human?

My comments: In which Wei Wuxian plunges off the cliff and wakes up near Baby Wangji who is kneeling in the snow waiting for his dead Mama. He assigns himself the mission of helping these two grieving boys and making their lives better... he doesn't know how long he has, because he doesn't know if he's human or a spirit or what. The boys can see and touch him, but no one else. (Except for their father....)

Love this story! More of a parallel universe thing than a time-travel fix-it.

Grave of a Living God

My comments: Oh, fuck me. This was intense.

I'm kinda crying to hard to make notes. Beautiful, happy ending, though. And the whole thing is poetry. But, oh. My baby.

Looking at You Always, All Ways

Summary: Lan Wangji thought it was just a dream but the pain of being pierced in the chest by his own sword, by his own self whose appearance was taller and older was too real. The ground under his feet disappeared and he fell, and fell, and continued falling until a voice he thought he would never hear again broke his fall and suddenly, he was no longer falling. It was the voice he had so dearly missed.

Wei Ying's voice.

----A Time Travel Fix-It where Lan Wangji goes back in time to his first fateful encounter with Wei Wuxian for a chance to rewrite history.

My comments: Good story, where Lan WangJi is sent back in time by his older self (who has to spend the rest of eternity in some timeless frozen place, as payment, which is sad) and this time, he DOES look at Wei Wuxian, and pays attention to him, and eventually courts him, because he won't make the same mistake twice. Very sweet.

Primary story ends with ch. 5 (6 has outtakes), so don't worry about the 6/7.

Series comprises unrelated stories.

❤️ Wangxian's Time-Travelling Shenanigans

Summary: “Wei Wuxian ignored Jiang Cheng’s hysterical yell, the whispers that had suddenly broke out around them, the scandalised looks of the Gusu Lan disciples — or the way Lan Qiren’s face paled in a mixture of shock and horror — and pulled back, peering into Lan Wangji’s face. His face which, Wei Wuxian suddenly realised with mounting dread, was a lot younger than he remembered it being.”

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji end up in their younger bodies mid-way through the events at Guanyin Temple. Wei Wuxian isn’t about to let a little issue like that — or the numerous other people surrounding them — stop him from confessing his love.

My comments: Have read first 3 works. It's pretty light and delightful. Jiang Cheng's hysterics are truly hilarious (and perfectly understandable, too!)

Aaahh, Part 3 includes the hands-down best reason for the Lan Dad to exit seclusion I've ever come across. [Qingheng-Jun sighed, closing his eyes. “They’re like animals,” he muttered. “They never stop. I — is this how it’s like, nowadays? Is this what younger people do? Brother, I am honestly at a loss.”]

Excerpt: “Oh my God, shut the fuck up!” [Jiang Cheng]

Wei Wuxian — who had by now wormed his way into Lan Wangji’s arms — glanced at Jiang Cheng, who was bright red by this point.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Stop being so shameless!” Jiang Cheng snapped. “Look who else is in the room!”

(He said this to two people who had originally very happily confessed in front of a horrified teenaged nephew, a man who was trying to kill them, and a poor, world-weary big brother who just wanted them to shut up. This time around, they shared their feelings in front of a room full of disciples, and the two family members who hadn't been traumatised by the original confession.

No, these two really didn't care who else was in the room).

Shattered Dreams

Summary: In which Wei Wuxian, shortly after being called into Mo Xuanyu’s body, is further forced into the past, where he proceeds to tumble his way into absolutely nailing a time travel fix-it.

My comments: This was... utterly engrossing, I LOVED it, I'm so immersed in the world Author is building and the robust personalities that populate it. It's tragically unfinished, but please don't let that stop you, because it's an entire world. Wei Wuxian, once he's back in time and using his adult skills in his 9yo body, now with the support of his family, is such a bright light, and it's recognized, and he can use and develop his skills at inventions and his unique understanding of cultivation, golden cores and dark energies to help all the people he loves. Simply gorgeous. (Love the whole storyline with Meng Yao, too. And Jiang Yanli finally getting a way to develop her own core into something powerful.)

Chapter 2 ends just as Wei Wuxian first meets Lan Wangji in Cloud Recesses, so I'm really excited to see where that goes this time around. And Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan remembers, although it's more like a feeling, or a dream. But there's a reason he dreams of Inquiry every night, and a reason that dream stopped the moment he met this new guest disciple....

❤️ Just a Tiny Mistake

Summary: Wei WuXian makes a mistake and wakes up to find himself in the past. Sure, he has a headache, but Lan WangJi is still there and everybody he loves is still alive (or will still be born). This is absolutely fine.

My comments: I love this story so much! Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi come back in time (or to an alternate reality) to when they're 15/16, and just SHINE because they're so experienced and knowledgeable. It turns out that wwx is a complete badass (well, we knew that) and a genius and also has been a Healer so he gets to help there. And this time around the people at Cloud Recesses (the adults and young children, anyway) admire and respect him (even though he can't see it because he was despised for so much of his previous life)... so it's nice to see Lan QiRen being gentle and amazed.

Lan Zhan and he plan their marriage pretty much immediately, and it doesn't take long to convince everyone that it's real. Wei WuXian starts to learn that in this reality he has gifts he didn't know about, and begins to learn about Holy Cultivation (which can heal people!) combined with Demonic Cultivation. Author weaves the storyline into the new reality well: it always stays interesting.

Only 11/? chapters at this point, but hopefully there will be more. It's a delightful world.

No, Lan Wangji, You Cannot Marry Someone You Just Met!

Summary: Wei Wuxian was tinkering with a new talisman just before he went to bed with his husband. When he opened his eyes, he finds himself a few decades younger, standing on the roof of Cloud Recesses with a jar of Emporor's Smile in his hand. He turns to his right and sees an equally confused, equally young Lan Wangji halfway into drawing out his sword.

Or, WWX and LWJ accidentally travel back in time, attempt to save everyone, and try to convince the Lan Clan elders to let them marry early. The last one goes about as well as they thought it would.

My comments: In which Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji go back in time to start over as students in Gusu. Of course, they've been happily married for ten years at that point, so it's HARD TO BE SUBTLE about it. (They're not.) They have time, in this timeline, to come up with ideas to stop the Wens and other disasters. And Wei Wuxian's on his best behavior, desperately wanting Lan QiRen and the elders to like him, this time around. (He happily makes talismans and other inventions to show off.)

Author's Extra Scenes in the end notes are always funny.

Summary: Jiang Cheng glances down at Wei Wuxian's notes, which have tiny doodles of Lan Wangji and many variations of Lan Wuxian drawn into the margins. "Holy shit," he gasps, unable to contain his glee.

My comments: SO. FUCKING. ADORABLE. Wei Ying is so shameless, he just shouts his love for Lan Zhan from the rooftops. (Of course, for some bizarre reason, that totally works for Lan Zhan, much to Lan XiChen's delight and Jiang Cheng's utter mystification. (Also, he's very funny and I've been laughing out loud.)

Has an incredibly delicious moment of feeding each other peaches. (In public!) And also a lovely, lovely kiss in the cold pond (cold spring?) that Jiang Cheng interrupts, much to his mental scarring.

But lo, plot happens, and Wei WuXian appears to be recalling flashes from the future, and maybe things are going to get a little heavier....

Time-travel (or Groundhog day) fix-it. (This is the one where wwx has random flashbacks and reveals to his siblings that this is his 13th go at fixing the past.) Stops at Ch. 8.

Excerpt:

One of the Lans clear their throat. "What are your intentions with Lan Wangji!" They demand, more of an accusation than a question. "You can't have kids, you're a man! And you marry him for status, or anything remotely akin to that, Lan Qiren will end you before you can!"

Wei Wuxian doesn't have to think about it. "I want to wife him so hard," he says, causing everyone in the room to stare at him blankly.

"I want to hold his hand." He continues.

The Lans' faces twist weirdly. "If you-"

"I want to kiss him, and hug him, and show him around Lotus Pier, and teach him how to catch fish back home, and do musical duets with him, and cook him spicy foods. I want to see him in the morning when we wake up, I want him to smile at me, I want to tease and bully him until he goes near purple with embarrassment, I want him to do whatever he wants with me. I fancy him, I like him, I whatever him, I just want him to look my way, and if I have to call him things like sweetheart and hubby for him to do so then I will absolutely do it."

The room is so silent, Wei Wuxian nearly goes deaf with it. He suddenly feels more mortified than he ever thought possible, and that's even with his shamelessness! The rain does nothing to hide the loud thumping of his heart. He touches his face and realizes that it was hot enough to cook eggs on.

Jin Zixuan breaks the silence with the sharpest, most put-out sound he's ever heard. "What, you're no fun," he says, picking himself up from the floor and seeing himself out.

Wei Wuxian thinks he hears him his something like 'what is wrong with the Jiangs and how they act when they're infatuated?' -Or something like that.

Molten Gold

Summary: Twenty years after Wei Ying's death, Lan WangJi has lost all hope of ever seeing him again.

Under pressure from the elders of his clan to marry a female cultivator he barely knows, he flees to the Burial Mounds where he finds a long lost goddess of demonic cultivation. Surprisingly benevolent, she offers him a chance to reunite with Wei Ying, but it will cost him his golden core...among other things.

When Lan WangJi concedes and is thrown into the past, he finds life more complicated than ever. After all, how can he protect Wei Wuxian when he is powerless himself?

My comments: In which the goddess of demonic cultivation hears Lan Wangji's plea (he's running away from an arranged marriage after mourning for 20 years) and sends him back to his own birth, but minus his golden core. He remembers his previous life by the time he's about 2, and immediately is disgusted by the way his mother is treated. By around 6, they realize he has no golden core and he bargains that he'll leave the sect (so that no one knows their shame) but only if his mother gets to go with.

They meet up with a young Wei Ying, and Lan Zhan makes his parents promise that they'll never leave him alone when they night hunt, which changes that trajectory as well.

It's several more years down the road now, and hopefully the story hasn't been abandoned at 5/? chapters.

My comments: I want to read the third chapter of this work SO BADLY. It's delicious. Lan Zhan is clearly his older self; story is Wei Ying's POV, and he's confused, but also delighted.

My comments: This will be good. It's only 2 chapters so far, and poignant, b/c while wwx traveled back, lwj did not, and wwx misses his old lwj terribly, and is trying to figure out how to get back.
