(Warning: Wilfred (US) Season 4 Spoiler)
I am SO glad that Ryan didn't end up with Jenna. They were and would be such a terrible couple and I was so happy that the team did NOT make them end game. While them cuddling in bed was super cute, that was mostly done to the wonderful acting done by Elijah and Fiona (the forehead kiss??? Help?!).
Attraction does not equal a healthy relationship and throughout all the seasons the showrunners and the characters were so clear that Ryan was giving her too much and doing too much for her and that Jenna was aware of that and let it happen anyway. I don't think she doesn't care for him at all btw! She's a good, realistic character with flaws, as we all have. But he is a very giving person and friend (read: people pleaser and afraid of rejection and confrontation) and she clearly relies on him heavily for dogsitting, help with issues in her life, emotional support... It's giving heavy early The Big Bang Theory Penny and Leonard vibes.
And I also think it's a good message that a person struggling with mental health and loss should NOT hurry into a relationship. Ryan is clearly unwell and focusing on himself and his healing is so much better use of his time and energy than a relationship with someone who he'd try to please at every possible moment so that she doesn't leave. Having stable relationships and a support system does not have to include a partner, especially a new one. Him realizing that he idolized her was so important to help him let go.
Besides, I don't hate Drew and Jenna together. I actually think Drew deserves better. From all we know, his worst flaw is that he gets competitive in games. He is a very sweet, friendly guy who is trying his best.
So, in conclusion, I'm really glad that it went this way. Fiona and Elijah did such a good job with these characters and I love the end message: Don't settle, don't let yourself be walked over, be in a healthy, equally-giving relationship and maybe heal yourself before you take on problems of other people.
P. S.: The conclusion to the relationship to Amanda is so brilliant as well. Her being a mirror to him in their mental health journeys and choosing healing over love was such a good plotline. Refusing to be sucked back into the madness of Wilfred, something that Ryan hasn't been able to do for four seasons! I hope she's doing well, what a queen.

fx is out here producing banger after banger tv. One of the only channels still putting their whole pussy into funding and distributing consistently top-tier network television. Huge shoutout to all the showrunners, writers, and directors that make amazing beautiful visions to air on this network.
It's kind of a shame the only time they seem to air their own programs is between 11pm and 3am though.

HalloWatch: Werewolf of London (1935) Watched:  10/29/2023 Format:  BluRay Viewing:  First Director:  Stuart Walker Every year, Jamie and I each carve a jack 'o lantern.  Usually we put on a movie something we've seen before, often a comedy or horror-comedy.  But this year I squeezed in one of my Halloween bucket movies for the year, but I can only say I *partially* watched this one, because I was also carving a pumpkin and then cleaning up the aftermath. this year's effort.  Jamie's Dracula on the left, my ghoul on the right I had just never gotten around to Werewolf of London (1935), which is a bit of a surprise even to me.  I am a fan of Lon Chaney's take on The Wolfman that would pop up 5 years later, but I never make it through the rest of the werewolf films in the box set.  I'm trying to get a picture of 1930's and 40's horror, one Halloween at a time, and have tried to watch offerings from Universal and RKO.  Also, I exist in the same world as Warren Zevon, so you'd think I'd eventually just be curious to see the damn movie. The plot is nowhere near as tight as The Wolfman, and the performances not as punctuated.  But that doesn't mean it doesn't have anything to offer.  I liked the make-up, the transformation FX, and the general idea of the story.   Scientists visit Tibet to find a flower they've heard only blooms in moonlight, and while securing the plant, are attacked by a werewolf.  Returned home, renowned biologist, Wilfred Glendon, begins acting anti-social and ignoring his wife (played by Bride of Frankenstein's Valerie Hobson), who just happens to have her childhood boyfriend show up at the same time.  A doctor Yogami appears and is also looking for the flower, which he says alleviates the symptoms of werewolfery.   Anyway, mayhem ensues, the doctors both are werewolves, etc... All in all, it's really not bad, but the lead - unlike most Universal films - doesn't really have a sympathetic motivation in the same way we see Larry Talbot - a victim of chance.  There's a dash more Jekyll and Hyde to the story than in the case of The Wolfman, but not enough to get hung up on thinking it's borrowing too heavily.    In general, it's an okay movie.  I didn't dislike it, and will watch it again with my full attention.  A highlight was seeing Valerie Hobson in another movie shot at literally the same time as Bride of Frankenstein, but given far more to do.  She's good!   But, yeah, I need to watch it again next year to say much more.  But I've 100% seen far worse. https://ift.tt/NGfXmyb via The Signal Watch https://ift.tt/blOI23g October 30, 2023 at 09:03AM

This is such a great article about Wilfred, full of spoilers but wonderfully written .
Wilfred has a special place in my heart because not only is it a brilliant show about mental health, but it is no doubt Elijah Woods' best acting job ever .
I adore Jason gann and his humor and his acting . Elijah and Jason had great chemistry, and I am happy that more people are discovering the show and appreciate its message .
Elijah deserved every praise for this show 🙌 👏 🙏 ❤️
