#future of the platform

I can't find the post I made months ago when they switched the snooze from a week to a month, but I called this a mile away (I think quite a few people did). Of course the only reason that they left the worst function they ever implemented on the platform was due to contractual obligation. They outsourced the hosting on live (which is why you have to grant additional permissions and such), which means they either paid up front (which they wouldn't have been able to do) or they signed an agreement saying they would keep the service up for a minimum amount of time during which they would pay back the host for the cost of services and fulfil their contractual financial obligation.

And, genuinely, I think the content on live is as bot ridden and trash as it is because they realized that pretty much no one actually uses it so they stopped moderating it. They are also probably contractually obliged to keep the service visible while it is up, hence the snooze, so that users are more likely to sign up and share their personal data (which is how the host is most likely making their profit in this scenario) regardless of whether or not they actually use live.

And, in my opinion, getting rid of live will actually encourage more growth on the platform.

I checked back through all of the blogs I follow the other day, and I compared the old ones that haven't been active in ages to the updates of the platform. All the poets and artsy people left with the adult content ban, but the second wave of people leaving was a slow trickle of fandom people that left after live. And I think that happened because people realized that if this site was going to become an Instagram or tiktok clone, they might as well migrate to the better version of *that* social media while there was still a way for them to tell their followers where to find them. And I understand that. If Tumblr was going to be a primarily video based social media, I'd just move my social media activity to the best video based platform so I wouldn't have to deal with the sloughing off of features and users and feature creep and platform decay, I'd go somewhere where they already figured out the solutions to the problems I haven't had yet.

Anyway.

Wouldn't it be wild if the skeleton crew got permission to, after a successful excision of Tumblr live, allow adult content back on the platform?

Though, at this point I'm more entertained by the concept that staff can now call themselves "the skeleton l crew" and we can get more skeleton war memes and year round skeleton gifs. Because, let's face it, whatever staff is left is going to have to embrace it and work with what they have.

While rewatching ducktales, I realised that they looove foreshadowing, they do it all the time, sometimes they even give the whole plot of an episode in the very first scenes without the viewer noticing lol.

Anyway, I realised that they foreshadowed the whole “duke of making a mess” thing that Huey had in the sword of swanstantine episode!

THE THING IS, EVEN on my first watch, I could tell that this was supposed to be a multiple episode arc but they HAD to make it shorter because ducktales was getting cancelled and I’m PISSED. LIKE ALL OF MY FAVOURITE CARTOONS, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE.

DEWEY had his own arc where he’s trying to uncover his mom’s dissaperance with Webby. LOUIE had his own arc where he was struggling with his place in the family and HUEY. DIDN’T.

Ughhh they foreshadowed the Duke of making a mess in the intern episode and even in Scrooge’s birthday!!

Those are BOTH season 1 episodes (I’m not gonna list more foreshadowing because you get my point) SO THEY’VE BEEN BUILDING UP THIS ARC SINCE THE BEGINNING AND THEY DIDNT GET TO CASH IT INNNNN RAHHHHHH 🗣️‼️‼️‼️‼️

When watching the ONE episode where he appears, you could IMMEDIATELY tell that it should’ve been a bigger deal. I mean come onnnn, they enter Huey’s mind scape and there’s a huge closed up door??? With locks??? DUUUDE THAT WOULD’VE BEEN AWESOMMMMEEE

I’m saying all of this but this is just to vent some frustration about how animation shows will just be cancelled without the chance to say all that they’ve wanted to say… and as the one who wants to hear it: *cries and wails and pees on the floor*

Ducktales was planning so many more seasons and only got 3, like every other great animation show nowadays i fear

i’m confused. you are a huge fan of pjo characters right? so how do you sit there and not call out a problem? you claim percy to be smart, but when rick writes about percy being an idiot and annabeth deeming him as one for an entire book, you are fine with that? youre fine with how she was shocked at him being smart? why are you pretending like everything is fine? inlike most of us, you have a platform. you can reach people. the only way to make things change is to speak up. aka the only way for rick to change is if we tell him what’s wrong. just like we told him to represent nico better and he did.

it is not okay for him to write annabeth like he did. he butchered her character and make her treat percy terribly. the annabeth haters are going to actually get a platform now. you have to call rick out!!

I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I haven’t said Percy’s portrayal as unintelligent is a good thing — I just haven’t had the chance to share a full review yet. I actually agree with you that it’s disappointing how often Rick makes Percy the butt of jokes about his intelligence, and I think Percy (and Annabeth) deserves better representation too. But it feels like your message is coming at me as though I’m opposed to this view, when I’m not. I also want to highlight that I’m just one person, and while I appreciate passionate discussions about representation, I don’t appreciate being spoken to in a confrontational way, especially when we’re on the same side. I support speaking up when things need to change, but it’s important to approach these conversations respectfully.

Yugioh DM-Vrains dub will be removed from Hulu

So as of right now I found out that Yu-Gi-Oh shows from Dual monsters through Vrains will be taken off of Hulu on March 1st 2025.

On the bright side if you're a fan of the go Rush series Yu-Gi-Oh 7s and Go Rush will be kept on Hulu.

I'm honestly shocked because I was REALLY hoped I would hear some news about the rest of the Yu-Gi-Oh series, especially zexal and the go Rush series, getting they're Japanese dub on Hulu because 5D's is the only show on the app that has Japanese dub but the rest haven't.

It's a shame that we didn't get get the sub version for Yu-Gi-Oh fans old and new to experience. Not to mention the Yugioh YouTube channel for the Yu-Gi-Oh series barely shows all of its episodes.
