Dear fellow writers,

‘Said’ is beautiful. Please use it more. It isn’t anything to be feared of hated. It’s not boring or overused. It makes all the other dialogue tags more special when they’re used on occasion.

‘Said’ makes your writing less cluttered. It can be a simple way of reminding the reader who is talking without bombarding them with synonyms.

“Use it along with action to make it more interesting,” she said, picking up her pencil.

He smirked, and said, “Or with expressions and body language.”

“Or,” she said, “just as a quick reminder of who is talking.”

“And if you know who is talking, a dialogue isn’t always necessary.”

Of course you can use other dialogue tags, but please don’t exclude ‘said’. It’s heartbroken from being ignored.

Writeblr Intro

Well, guess there's a first time for everything. Had no idea folks did this until recently.

Hi ^-^ My name is Sy, I'm 29 years old, queer and a cis-female. I've been writing fictions on and off since my late teens, and I just recently began writing with serious intent. English is my second language, so I apologize if I mess up the spelling or grammar on something. I'm currently in school for computer programming and living with my grandparents, whom I take care of as well. I hope to meet some kind mutuals and share ideas with them ^-^

My hobbies are simple, mostly just video games, reading, writing, annoying my cat, and just vibing. I'm a homebody now, so I don't get into too many crazy shenanigans anymore (if my liver could talk, it'd have stories for days).

I like to write in high fantasy settings, but I tend to experiment with modern AUs from time to time. I have dabbled in Star Wars universe fictions, thanks to a gaming club I've been a part of for nearly three years.

My serious attempt at writing my own story. High-fantasy military team charged with the protection of their sovereign's only daughter. An adventure with lots of action, some angst, and plenty of queer shenanigans. Doesn't have a title yet, but working on it!

Hello to all PJO fans. I have this blog which is short rants, and dip dives and memes about the Percy Jackson characters and fandom.

I also sometimes mention other Greek mythology retellings. And this blog is still about that.

However, I am starting a new blog today. And it’s more about me. Not in an ego-centric way. It’s just because I’ve already established a community here based on Greek mythology.

And I don’t want to disturb that. But if anyone is interested, my new blog will be more focused on journalism, my options on writing of non myth-related media. And short original stories and updates about the books I will be writing and publishing soon.

Day 2 of ADHD Meds (That's right, your girl got diagnosed and medicated!) and all I have to say is REGULAR PEOPLE FUNCTION LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME??

What. The. Hell. How unfair.

On another note, I've gotten so much done, despite only getting 2hrs sleep overnight (known side effect, it's okay, I'm okay)

I've programmed a Zapier integration to send data from a Google Form to a Discord channel, which was fun and frustrating because programming is a nightmare, but I made it work and I'm so proud. I hadn't touched Zapier in almost 2 years and managed to figure it out. /happy dance

Work is finally getting easier. Menial tasks are now easier to complete. Gym time is more in sync and easier to do without getting lost and distracted and bored.

Time to direct the psycho focus (lol) toward editing and get this third draft done!

A little snapshot of my beloved idea book...#1 book of the (at least) four-book-long series!

She is her parents' eldest daughter but not quite entitled to inherit her father's crown according to the ways of the island. He his parents' eldest son - the crown prince to a neighbouring kingdom's throne as his father's heir - and her arranged husband since their childhood in order to strengthen the two kingdoms' ties. She does not mind him, finds him polite and even rather handsome. He thinks her quite charming in more ways than one. There is no love between them but both are willing to do their duty to their kingdoms.

As wedding preparations go ahead, restlessness in another kingdom disturbs the plans and it is not long later that all four kingdoms are on the brink of war when both her father, the king, and his father, another powerful king, are assassinated and an ally attacked. He ascends the throne while her kingdom is thrown into chaos when no one is suitable to take the throne.

BOOM. STUFF HAPPENS!

I'd love to know your thoughts on this little snippet so far! As I mentioned, this is only part one of a series - if I ever get to write even one book of it! But I shall remain hopeful 🤞

Because it’s in my brain right now I want to talk about some stuff about the book that I’m (hopefully) writing

So it’s set in medieval Europe during the black plague, which in this universe ends up turning people into zombies in some cases. It was usually areas of poverty that dealt with this particular kind of the plague, and at that point no one with any power to do anything cared enough to do it. So it eventually spread until it became a very big problem.

Eventually, many places were wiped out, leaving hordes of undead, referred to as Ghouls, Creatures, or Monsters, roaming about. There was one kingdom that was able to avoid this, however, because of how they tend to be isolated from the rest of the kingdoms.

The ruler of this kingdom decided to try and do something about the infestation, and made a group of soldiers form a specialized unit. To compare it so something, I’d say it’s akin to the witchers or the grey wardens.

People in this group are called plague doctors, and wear the masks too. For a long time they fought against the hordes, but their numbers started to dwindle, as did their worth

By the time of the book, the doctors are no longer respected and treated as people to do the dirty work. The new king of the time barely gives them the light of day, which leads to the doctors having disdain towards many people of nobility

The book will follow a girl that was taken in by the doctors after her family were all killed and turned into ghouls. The other main character will be a noblewoman that supports the plague doctors and even wants to join them

I need to do more research to make things a bit more historically accurate, since I’m not trying to write a fantasy novel and just want it to be set in Europe. But this is the basis for the world building so far
