Not a question but how great is this knighthood thing for Brian! I'm so happy for him! He's truly the most inspiring person there is and he's so deserving of this accolade! Not that he'd need it to be amazing, he's managing that all on his own, but I'm only surprised he wasn't knighted earlier for all his many accomplishments. Also, his characteristically humble answer to the honour, of taking it as a challenge, oh Brian :')
Eagerly awaiting photos and Sir Brian's report of the actual event, whenever that is :)
YES !!! Honestly I haven't stopped grinning since the news broke yesterday, I'm just so so thrilled for him!! And I love his response of seeing it as a challenge and a call-to-action, you know he was never going to stop any of his work but it's such a Brian reaction to get an honor like this and immediately see it as a call to start doing more!
And how sweet were all his comments about Anita too?🥰He always takes any chance he can to talk about how wonderful she is, but him saying that she deserves to be called "Lady" because he wouldn't be here without her almost made me cry🥺
Hopefully the event is soon, because I want to see and hear everything about it already!! (Especially the stereophotos that you know he's going to be taking!)

Get well soon, car! Seeing how you're the undisputed expert on Brian's shirts without sleeves, care to give your top five of his sleeved shirts? Any era, but let's narrow it to button-downs :) -funnydressesweirdhairanddance (man my url is looong :D )
adsklfjklasjlk okay this genuinely made me laugh, thank you for the question and let’s see if I can even think of five button-down shirts that Brian wore....
1. This very soft looking stripey button-down
Tumblr media
2. This shirt from (I think) the News of the World tour that I would love to own myself
Tumblr media
3. The Resurrection shirt with the billowy sleeves
Tumblr media
4. Bright green Magic Tour shirt
Tumblr media
5. This gorgeous one that he wears all the time now

@funnydressesweirdhairanddance! I asked in the tags about the vest John’s wearing in @queen-hospitality‘s post here. There were no responses to my question, but @ylly22 gave it a signal boost this morning and you came through the with info! Thank you!
A close-up of the vest:
Tumblr media
For anyone else who may have been curious:
According to Neal Preston’s book it’s from the 1977 News of the World North America tour. @funnydressesweirdhairanddance adds that according to other photos from that tour on queenlive.ca, it appears that he only wore the vest at the Boston show.
What a shame! It’s gorgeous, I’d love to see it in color. It appears to be a black background, but wouldn’t it be beautiful in deep green? If anyone’s seen color photos, please let me know! <3 <3 <3

New Brian fan here. Love your blog! Are there any interviews where he talks about being an only child? I often wonder if having any siblings would had altered his personality in some way. He seems like he was very well behaved as a child <3
Hi hi! 😊 Nice to see you, and thanks!
I'm going to have to turn this one over to the resident Brian experts - do you know, @astrophysicist-guitar-god or @funnydressesweirdhairanddance? Or anyone else?
I don't recall anything off the top of my head where he'd talk about being an only child in particular; but something like the section of Queen in 3-D where he talks about his childhood certainly sounds rather lonely - a boy living inside his head a lot of the time 🤔
(not that that's necessarily connected to being an only child!)

#I am once again asking#why are his trousers miced?#there's a tiny mic near his knee there#coming through the side seam#what's it for? (tags via @funnydressesweirdhairanddance )
Well now you've gotten me curious about this too!
My best educated guess is that it has something to do with the new radio system they're using? Pete Malandrone talks about it a bit in the new Red Special Podcast Rig Rundown episode but they basically switched Brian's system to a digital wireless one instead of analogue before the "last tour", which presumably means the 2019 North America Rhapsody Tour because that's the first time you start to see the mic on him. (Or at least, I couldn't spot it in any photos from before then!)
He also has it on multiple pairs of trousers, including ones he usually only pulls out for the encore, so I don't think it's something he needs only because of the acoustic guitar:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But admittedly I don't really know or understand anything about radio systems, so if anyone else knows more about this I'd love to learn more!

In this Johnny Dewe Matthews photoshoot it seems all the clothes John is wearing is Roger's and Freddie's. What do you think?
Look, I'm the worst person to keep track of their clothes xD
But let's see: Here's one where we get a good look at John.
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure the shirt is one of Freddie's and Roger's shared stash. The shoes he's wearing quite often on stage, so they're probably his own. I have no idea about the jacket and trousers though... The jacket looks very small on him, so perhaps that one's borrowed too?
Got any info, @plainxte, @funnydressesweirdhairanddance, or whoever else is knowledgable in these matters?

Master List!
The Queen Shared Closet
Shout-out to @natromanxoff as an early adopter; the Shared Closet’s first follow. :-)
Shout-out to @ylly22 for being patient while I whined. ;-)
Shout-outs to @rushingheadlong and @natromanxoff, Queen clothing-post researchers extraordinaire, who helped with information I was whining about not being able to find. :-)
1) If there are broken links or anything’s been linked incorrectly, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
2) There were some extremely helpful compilation posts that I used for a chunk of these; where applicable, I linked to the individual item described, then linked to the post as well. If some of these look link-heavy, that’s why.
3) Any notes to myself are for the fandom at large as well! If I remember seeing something but either can’t find it or don’t have it, I may have included a reminder to myself to look for it or investigate, but if you’re reading this list and you know exactly where to find it...let me know!
4) If there’s something that could be added, let me know!
T-shirts:
Bike It: Brian, Freddie, John (x).
Children in Need: Brian, Roger. // @rushingheadlong and @ylly22, thank you!
Cub Scouts: Navy and yellow striped tee shirt, Freddie and a Music Life magazine staffer. Thanks, @natromanxoff for finding the picture of the staffer that I was looking for! // Formerly incorrectly categorized as a black and yellow striped knit top, it is in fact a cute little Cub Scouts tee shirt, 70s vintage (new at the time Freddie wore his, no doubt).
Elvira: Brian, Roger.
Hollywood *I Helped*: Brian, Freddie.
Union Jack: Brian, Diego Maradona. // Brian posted on Instagram when Maradona died; he included a picture of Maradona wearing a Union Jack tee, which Brian confirmed was his.
Shirts / Tops:
Black sweater with red kanji down the front: Brian, Pete Brown. Multiples! // Apparently they all had one, though Brian is the only band member I’ve seen pictured wearing his. Thanks, @rushingheadlong for the information. @sassiesillie, thanks for pointing me to @debdarkpetal‘s post with more details on these sweaters.
Boxy vintage bowling shirts: Freddie, Roger...and John! // Freddie’s has “Ruth” on the pocket, Roger’s has “Gladys” near the hem. There’s a name stitched over John’s pocket that appears to start with an “L.” Thanks to @funnydressesweirdhairanddance for this addition! Thanks to @sassiesillie, for pointing me to @funnydressesweirdhairanddance‘s post. // Rear view of Freddie’s shirt, emblazoned with the name of the bowling team sponsor. // Also worn by Freddie on stage, with shorts.
Dark blue shirt with big silver buttons: Freddie, Roger (x).
Hockey jerseys: Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys, Brian, Freddie, and John. Roger must have been presented with one as well but as yet, no pictures.
One Vision shirt - blue abstract print: Roger and Spike! The placement of the print on Spike’s shirt doesn’t match Roger’s, so it’s most likely Spike’s own. Thank you, @natromanxoff!
One Vision shirt - white abstract print: Freddie wearing what looks like a version of Roger’s blue shirt, in white. Thank you, @natromanxoff!
Puma Los Angeles Olympics hoodie: Brian and Roger (x). Thanks to the extremely sharp-eyed @natromanxoff for this one! You can juuuust see what looks like the same lettering on Brian’s hoodie peeking out of Roger’s collar. Probably individually owned.
Satiny black sleeveless V-neck top with white embroidery: Freddie, John, Roger (x). // This top was part of a ladies’ lounge set, most likely vintage pieces from the 20s-30s. Apparently never worn by Brian; he was very slim at the time, but it probably just didn’t fit due to his broader frame. Thank you, @funnydressesweirdhairanddance!
White knit top with tiny black star print: Brian, Freddie (x).
Zandra Rhodes black top with white squiggles: Freddie, Roger.
Pants:
Black leather pants, from the Radio Gaga video. From one of the few (two?) times the band all wore the same outfit. Roger, Freddie, and John probably could’ve worn each other’s sweatpants in a pinch, but Brian would have been left out in the cold. I’d say there was very limited actual sharing of pants or jeans.
Jackets:
Black velvet jacket with contrasting deep cuffs and shoulder cutouts in burgundy: Brian, Roger (x).
Black velvet jacket with contrasting deep cuffs and shoulder cutouts in navy: John, Roger (x).
Black velvet blazer with metallic/corded trim: Roger, (John?) (x). // In my first post I wondered if John was wearing Roger’s black jacket with white/metallic trim; it appears that he was!
Chicago Blackhawks: Brian, John, Gerry Stickell (x). Probably multiple jackets.
Floral jacket (black/white): Brian, Freddie, Roger (x).
Floral jacket (black/yellow): Freddie, Roger (x).
Rainbow stripe jacket: Roger; Freddie? // Apparently they are two different pieces. Thanks for the clearer picture of Freddie, @natromanxoff! // A bigger, color picture of Freddie’s shirt; thanks to @stesichoreanpalinode, who tagged me in @debdarkpetal‘s post.
Satiny white jacket with triangular black insets on shoulders: John, Roger (x). // This jacket makes up a two-piece lounge ladies’ set with the satiny black v-neck top mentioned above. Most likely vintage pieces from the 20s-30s. Thank you, @funnydressesweirdhairanddance! // Another view.
Silky white open jacket with what appears to be an ivy or leaf print on the sleeves, front hem and back: Freddie and John. Worn by both in the photo shoot in Freddie’s flat; also worn by Freddie on stage.
Sukajan Japanese souvenir jackets: They had individual jackets; very cool!
Tour jackets, dark green satin with Union Jack patch: Brian, Freddie, John (x). Thanks to @rushingheadlong for the following info: “...it’s the jacket for the 1981 Japan and South America tours.”
Tour jacket, Hot Space: Brian, Roger, John (and Crystal). Individually owned. Freddie most likely had one as well, but as yet, no pictures.
Tour jackets: Issued to band and crew. These particular jackets belonged to Chris “Crystal” Taylor, and were at auction. [Responses welcome, but please remember that I’m relaying the auction descriptions as posted on the site, I did not write them.] Top to bottom:
Emerald Green: “Queen 1981 South America/Japan Tour Jacket. Four country patches (USA, Japan, Brazil, and Argentina) on right sleeve. Worn during The Game Tour in Europe, Japan, and South America. Men’s size 34.”
Black w/ Crest: “Queen Black 1977 Tour Jacket. The band's 1977 tour was known as the News of the World Tour. Men's size Small.”
Black w/ Queen: “Queen Black Clair Bros Jacket (circa 1970s). Clair Bros logo on the left breast. Large Queen name with crown printed on jacket back. Clair Brothers was a sound company used by Queen in the late 1970s.” No size given.
Jewelry / Other accessories / Shoes:
Adidas Hercules boots: Individually owned, worn by Brian, Roger, and Freddie (bonus collection of Roger wearing these offstage). I love the Adidas; they gave their feet a nice, sleek profile, unlike chunkier sneakers/trainers, and the higher profile no doubt gave their ankles additional support for all that rock -n- roll posing. :-) Scroll to the end for a picture of a pair signed by Brian, most likely for charity (see his contributions to the Small Steps project under DVD Extras, below). If anyone knows why John didn’t wear these as well, I’d love to know. Thank you, @onegoldenglance!
Black statement necklace: Brian, Freddie (x).
Clogs: This addition was inevitable. Brian’s the first one you think of, but all four band members sported clogs, as seen in this post (one of two posts collectively referred to as “Clogfest 2021″ -- I’ve also been thinking of it as Clog-a-palooza). Bonus Clogfest post of Roger very cheekily miming playing the drums in his clogs. No doubt this was a middle finger to the BBC, who wouldn’t let Queen play live on air. And brace yourselves -- John actually wore a pair onstage. See the DVD Extras for the second Clogfest 2021 post.
Cream-colored hat with black band: Roger and…Brian! Worn onstage with Queen + Adam Lambert. Most certainly Roger’s, based on the fit. Thanks to @onegoldenglance for this.
Oversized floppy straw hat with a flower: Freddie and John! Definitely a fun, 70s look, undoubtedly Freddie's hat.
Skinny, lime green tie: Roger and John (?). Roger embraced popped collars and skinny ties in the 80s; if they’re sharing a tie, I would guess that it was Roger’s. (Pic of John’s tie linked from here; super long post, so I didn’t reblog.)
Small hammer necklace: Brian, John. Thank you to @ylly22 for pointing me to her post with clearer pictures than the ones previously used.
Silver arm cuff: Freddie, Brian (x)? Roger? // That one isn’t the same after all; in a picture of both onstage, Freddie’s wearing the cuff in question, Brian wearing the one I thought it was.
Silver loop-through necklace: Brian, Freddie (x).
Matching tops/bottoms:
Puma track suit, cream with light blue stripe detailing: Freddie, John, Crystal Taylor (x). Probably multiple outfits.
White shirt, pants, and hat with oversized black arrows: John, Roger (x).
Family:
(We all know that Roger and his family are going to run the table in this category.)
Black abstract print top: Roger, Dominique. Bonus: Zoom in to see a cigarette butt inexplicably stuck up Felix’s nose. Thanks, @natromanxoff!
Black and white checked shirt: Roger and his daughter Tigerlily.
Black jacket with pink stripes: Roger, his son Felix.
Black sweater/sweatshirt with white skull: Roger and Tigerlily. Thanks to @onegoldenglance.
Green blazer: Roger, his son Rufus. Thank you for that addition, @onegoldenglance!
Pink velvet blazer: Roger, Debbie Leng? // This one might be up for debate…the lapels on Debbie’s blazer may be a bit bigger. Are they different jackets, or is it a match? Feel free to send me anything to support either side of the argument! Thanks to @onegoldenglance for pointing me to this.
Spiderweb vest: Brian, his wife Anita.
Designers / Stores:
Granny Takes a Trip: Several of Roger’s jackets. Store floor plan hand-drawn (possibly?). If you’ve ever imagined Roger shopping, now you’ve got the store layout to help you dream.
Nina Huryn: Brian’s beautiful skeleton jacket (rear view). This may also be one of her pieces, per Brian.
Zandra Rhodes: Designed stage wear for all four band members; the most famous of these was probably Freddie’s angel wing tunic. Though she made other items for Brian, these (three) (beautiful) (pieces) are perhaps the most memorable (bonus rear view).
DVD Extras:
(Things that are Queen clothing-related, but don’t really fit the main theme of the blog.)
Brian’s clogs of many colors: The second half of Clogest 2021 (Clog-a-palooza); post by @beatlegirl1968, with additions by me (astrophysicist-guitar-god). A compilation of the different colored clogs we’re lucky to have pictures of so far (a single picture of each color).
Brian’s donations to the Small Steps Project: A pair of the infamous white clogs, obviously well-loved! Another donation, a pair of Jil Sander Pumas, also obviously worn for a few appearances. The description notes that at the time (auction ended in 2017), he had contributed every year.
Brian’s doublet: Top worn onstage, specially commissioned by Brian. The original post; includes research and discussion pointing to a different top than the one pictured. The updated post pictures the top that Brian possibly meant.
BrianWearingTanks archive: Exactly what it says on the lid, a breathtakingly comprehensive collection of pictures of Brian wearing tank tops and near-tank tops. Thank you, @rushingheadlong, it’s an amazing collection!
Queen: Fashion and style: @funnydressesweirdhairanddance’s compilation of fashion and style posts.
Queen: Fashion vs. style.
Queen: Individual style, but dressing as a unit.
Roger’s leather pants: A pair of leather pants reportedly owned by Roger, at auction. My (astrophysicist-guitar-god) addition to the post is what appears to be an identical item. Notable for the sizing -- we know Roger was small -- Roger was really small.
Roger’s Juicy Fruit Gum belt: A totally fun piece; I can just imagine what this belt looked like paired with the infamous rainbow jacket. Roger definitely wasn’t afraid of color.
Sneakers (US) / Trainers (UK): A pretty comprehensive look at Roger’s sneakers over the years, in chronological order. Clearly, a labor of love. Thank you, @onegoldenglance!
Zandra Rhodes: Brian and Queen were featured in an episode of Oh You Pretty Things - The Story Of Music & Fashion (2014). Brian shows some of the costumes Zandra created for him. The link in the post has expired and is no longer available, but 1:32 minutes of Brian’s segment is up on Youtube.
Hidden Tracks:
Brian’s hoodie: Help solve the ongoing mystery! (linked without my goofy guess.)
Brian pulling a sweater over his head; now with 100% added crowd-sourced science (really). Thank you, @ylly22!
Guitar straps: A short tour of John’s guitar straps; bonus picture of Brian.
Jimi Hendrix wearing a black and white flowered jacket that looks a lot like the Queen shared jacket. I’m living for the day someone unearths an interview where Freddie says he bought his jacket because he saw a picture of Hendrix wearing one like it. :-)
If they made one, they made more than that, so I don’t know why I was  surprised to see a member of the Boomtown Rats in John/Roger’s prison outfit with the oversized arrows.

Regarding your last tank top update: "I like graphs and this was fun" is totally something that Brian would say. A bit more research (which is, I guess, also a Bri thing) and you'll probably turn into him!
@funnydressesweirdhairanddance said: This is the most Brian thing anyone's ever done here. 😆
asdfhkjfdklsa the hilarious thing is that I wasn’t even thinking about that at all, just I really do like pie charts!! 😂
but now that I AM thinking about it, I’m just reminded of that gifset of Brian talking about something and being handed a pie chart and being SO happy about it
Tumblr media
but hey if this makes me a bit like Brian I’ll gladly take that comparison!! ♥
(gif from here, and I’ll reblog the set in a moment)
