❥ Absolute chaos, I don't know what you expected.

❥ Having known both groups since preschool has been both beneficial and horrific. On one hand, if you got someone who won’t leave you alone and/or harassing you, consider they ass dead, all you will see if the person messing with you get dragged by the arms or hair by Craig and Cartman as the rest of the boys follow and you never hear or see that person again.

❥ The only one who can really harass you and get away with it is Cartman, the others, mostly everyone else but Kyle, Tolkien, Butters and Tweek, more so just pick on you for stupid shit. Unless it’s something they really find fucking stupid and want to give you shit for it cuz it’s funny to them cuz teenage boys.

❥ On the other hand, the second you mention that you have a crush or are just in a vulnerable state of mind or emotion, you are absolutely getting shitted on, again mostly by Cartman, but the others will give you shit too about things unless it’s something super serious cuz you’ve stated and proved many times before you will absolutely rock their shit if they say one word.

❥ You made one comment about how you missed your gran who just passed and Jimmy and Kenny felt the need to make one stupid “joke” about it. The whole school didn’t see either of them for a week after that. (Kenny prob died and Jimmy nearly saw the pearly gates, that taught him that some jokes aren’t necessary)

❥ Sleepovers with both gangs are a must considering you’re a part of both groups.

❥ One weekend you spend at Stan’s house or sometimes Kyle’s or Cartman’s with him, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and Butters. Those weekends usually consist of a lot of bullying Butters (not that you partake unless it’s something really stupid), Kyle and Cartman arguing and/or Kyle beating the shit out of him while you and Stan just kinda watch him get what he deserves as Kenny laughs his ass off (Butters attempts to stop Kyle but ultimately lets it happen anyway, Eric’s an asshole to him so he had it coming), and lots of video games per Stan and Kyle and takeout because of Cartman’s fatass, not that Kenny is complaining about it.It’s a bit of a stressful and chaotic weekend so when you return home Sunday night, you hideaway in your room to recover from their shenanigans before you see them at school.

❥ I’d say the following weekend when you spend it with Craig and those guys is better but let’s be honest..it’s not, it’s probably just as bad. Some weekends when you get dropped off at Tolkien’s, you’re half minded to just get back in your parents car and go home. These weekends usually consist of lots of chatter and/or outbursts (Tweek) from pretty much everyone but Tolkien, Craig’s probably yapping about red racer or stripe or Tweek, Clyde’s blabbering on about something probably stupid or his relationship with Bebe, Tweek is well…tweaking and/or is clinging to you or Craig, and Jimmy’s probably making repeated stupid jokes if he can get them out that is. You and Tolkien often look at each other like this:

❥ If no one is yapping, y’all are probably screaming as you race in Mario Kart or raging in Mario Party. Clyde’s most likely crying, Jimmy’s in shock, Tolkien and Craig are probably sweating and focused attempting to make a comeback, Tweek is almost losing his mind and you’re just standing or sitting with a shit eating grin on your face as the first place music plays while the rest are still racing or watching whoever is playing or your sitting in first with 9 stars and over 100 coins whilst everyone else is in dead last with one to none since you stole everything else.

❥ Safe to say, you’ve been banned from both games at the sleepovers. You’re okay with that though cuz while everyone else is focused on the games, you’re eating away at the snacks Mrs.Black has brought for y’all, well more so for you considering she seems to favor you over the boys. They’re not too pleased about this lol

❥ Okay so maybe not as bad as sleepovers at Stan’s but still chaotic.

❥ Both groups may be assholes but they have their good sides too. It’s to be expected that you’ll get shit on for something as does everyone in both groups but that doesn’t mean they don’t care about you, you are one of their best friends after all.

❥ Kyle, Tolkien and Butters are always good to go to for someone who’ll listen while you rant and give you advice about something, Kenny, Clyde and Jimmy are good to go to when you could use a hug or some form of affection (Ofc Jimmy can’t do a lot but that won’t stop him from at least using one of his arms to wrap around you and give you a squeeze), Stan and Tweek are unexpectedly good to go to to for a quick but genuine laugh since they can be unintentionally funny, and Cartman and Craig are good to go to when you need to just scream, shout, curse or just rage since they’ll have little reaction or give you a justified reaction to your anger.

❥ Movie nights are constantly a thing as well, like the sleepovers you do one weekend with Stan’s group and the next with Craig’s, you told them from the beginning that you wouldn't ever do the whole “spend a majority of time with one group and very little with the other.” You were friends with both groups and would spend an even amount of time with both. Some of the boys complained about it in the beginning but eventually came around after seeing how well it worked.

❥ You had seen how jealousy worked within both groups and decided it was best to avoid anyone getting jealous because someone else’s group got more time while the other group didn’t.

❥ But one weekend, you had tried getting both groups together to do one big movie night all together since it was so rare for both groups to get along enough to do something together and thought it would be easier to gather at yours. Yeah you never did that again after that weekend, it was more than you had bargained for and after only 2 hours of everyone being at yours, you snapped at them all and sent them all away and back home because no one could agree on anything or get along (Stan and Tolkien nearly got physical cuz Stan was instigating, Craig was threatening to choke Kenny out because he wouldn’t shut up, Clyde and Kyle were almost screaming at each other over movie choices, Cartman was calling Jimmy derogatory names, and Butters and Tweek were honestly just hiding in the other room to avoid the fighting but you coulda swore Tweek had to have bitten or hit Butters when you heard Butters scream ow).

❥ In the end, you ended up calling Wendy and the girls over to watch movies with you instead because the boys had been so much that they nearly pushed you to tears with their fighting.

❥ By the end of the first movie alone, your phone had been blowing up with calls, texts, and even emails from the guys all trying to apologize for ruining the night you worked so hard for just for them to ruin it all.

❥ Safe to say, it took at least 2 months for you to even acknowledge any of them as your friends after that so lesson learned.

❥ Overall, you love your friend groups but jesus christ they have some problems but nonetheless they’re special to you, even if some days you want to just kill them all.

I will say that for Donnie’s characterization, I think it comes from a place of not knowing how to identify the line between his autism and his personality, and a difficulty with portraying the balance between those things influencing each other.

“Donnie is autistic, but this isn’t all he is” and “Donnie’s autism influences the way he views the world, and thus influences his character” aren’t mutually exclusive. In the case of flattening his character into the apathetic, flat “bad boy” persona, I think this one is actually from a bit of ableism—albeit unintentional.

Donnie is low empathy; this is something that is related to his autism. However, despite this being TRUE, he’s not LIMITED to this. Donnie is low empathy, but Donnie’s personality is someone who is deeply loyal to his loved ones, someone who loves to show his affection through his work (and the intertwining of his special interest and how he shows affection to his family is another example of this intersection!!). By assigning all of his actions to just a quirk of personality, you’ve left yourself with contradictory pieces of character—and some parts of it that are just easier to leave out entirely.

And on the other side, Donnie being rude and sarcastic isn’t necessarily because of his low empathy, either. Because Leo is also these things—and it’s… his personality. Donnie is rude and sarcastic because it’s a bit, and it’s funny, and he plays the straight man in his family dynamic. He loves playing around with his family as much as they like messing with him! By doing this, we’ve gone the other extreme of assigning all his traits to his autism, and leaving out the potential of him being a person with his own sense of humor and personality.

TLDR; it’s hard to dive into the intricacies of characters, especially ones who have disabilities. You have to balance the extent of the influence the disability has on the personality of the character. A lot of times it’s easier to flatten someone into one end or the other, and that’s partly why we have an Emotionless Donnie pandemic.

^^^^^^ yeah i agree with this as well!! i mostly hesitate to accuse it of being ableism because i dont want to accuse a lot of well-intentioned people, especially those who are neurodivergent because fandom is a very nd-heavy space, of doing something like that, i just think its a folly of getting caught into fandom archetypes and then either staying there or overcorrecting in a way that is similarly exhausting, implicit bias is just a difficult thing to understand and call out in yourself even if youre the afflicted group youre applying this behavior to, and i really dont want to just be hostile to people who mean well

I don't want to be a nasty one, but absolutely everyone needs to stop hoping for something good. First of all, the guys are literally guest actors (whom Eric collects like infinity stones to attract a large audience of spn), who at best will get a cameo for the entire season. The cast of "the boys" is already quite extensive and no one is going to move them for the sake of J2 and Misha. This will be the last season and the entire story of the current heroes must end. Secondly, with all the love for Eric for spn and in particular for the first 3 seasons and favor for "wincest", but he has a peculiar sense of humor and ideas in this period. This can be understood by how poorly season 4 was received in the end. And I would prefer that he did not try to somehow "joke" in the series with references to the connection of the brothers. And I think Jensen and Jared will also be against it. Whatever the plot may have prepared for them in the end, I hope that in the end it won’t be long and will simply be funny and pleasant for a certain part of the fans.

Yeah. I haven't had a chance to watch season 4, but by the end of season 3, The Boys was IMO already visibly struggling to try and fully tell all the stories of its main cast. It's not a small ensemble and this is gonna be the final season.

To be entirely fair, there have been other, much bigger name cameos in minor roles on The Boys, not just SPN actors (Jimmy Fallon, Paul Reiser, Tilda Swinton, Charlize Theron, Will Ferrell, for starters) and Amazon claimed viewership numbers of 55 million for season 4 of The Boys. There's no easy way to compare that to SPN, whose original airing ratings run low and whose streaming numbers are artificially inflated by the fanbase and sheer length of the show? But I really don't think Kripke is desperately aching for SPN viewers as much as he just likes working with people he's worked with before. I stand by what I said back when Jensen was cast and certain stans started clamoring/grumbling/snarking, I really don't care how many SPN actors show up in The Boys so long as they can keep up with the talent of the already present cast (good fucking luck, Misha).

I do kind of suspect that when Kripke was writing a character for Jared he came up with some kind of idea of how to reference SPN that will work within The Boys universe sans context but act as an Easter egg for those ITK. No idea what that could be, but anyone building up wild expectations of some huge SPNfest is being pretty unrealistic.

We're talking about eight episodes, each about an hour long. To deal with Homelander's ... everything. To deal with Butcher going off the rails. To deal with the other members of the vigilante group, Vought as a corporation, the other remaining members of The Seven, and possibly the conspiracy from Gen V. While Jensen's being bumped to a series regular, that's probably going to mostly involve his relationship to Homelander (and possibly anger over season 3's finale). We have no idea how big Jared or Misha's roles will be, though after Kripke made such a big deal of his enthusiasm to get Jared on the show, I'd be surprised if it isn't something at least memorable if not meaty. But considering Kripke and The Boys that could mean ... a lot of things.

Isat x Gravity falls (note I’m role swapping, but if the roles had romance between them please note that it’s platonic now. Like the people in the Isa and Sif roles aren’t being shipped. Likewise, if I put someone in the gravity falls roles and they are being shipped I don’t ship those GF characters necessarily.)

Anyway, GF characters in isat roles

Siffrin -> Mabel. Her whole thing is that she doesn’t want to lose the people she loves and she tries to hold onto them, accidentally causing the apocalypse. Sounds VERY similar to Sif’s whole deal tbh. Mabel is also someone who acts as the ‘funny jokes person’ in her group, similarly to Siffrin, and controversy i’d say it’s a bit of a protective layer for both of them. Also the way Siffrin’s loops works and how he almost seems to crave them near the end and how Mabel was in the bubble can be parallels. Do you see the vision???

Odile-> Dipper. OK HEAR ME OUT!!! I know you’re going ‘no Ford would be Odile!!!’ WRONG! First of all, no Dipper is scrappy in a way Odile is and Ford isn’t (Ford is badass and kinda unhinged but he’s not ‘scrappy’ even when going insane). Also Dipper is generally more pessimistic and less gullible than Ford. Dipper and Odile are both people with a thirst for knowledge who don’t like not knowing things. Both these characters have a clear ambition, but are similarly grounded in how much they CARE. Also Ford could never pull off the sus quest, but I think Dipper could 100%. Also also Dipper and Odile are doing the same type of shenanigans to me (-awkward teen boy things).

Isabeau-> Stan. Hmmmmmmmmm…. Changing everything about yourself until the old you is dead because you hate yourself? Being too much of a coward to communicate with the people you love despite them meaning everything to you? Refusing to acknowledge how smart you are and acting dumb (well ok this one is a stretch because Stan actually thinks he’s stupid, but he TAUGHT HIMSLEF TO REBUILD THE PORTAL???? FORD needed BILLS help for that! Ofc Stan had some of Fords notes, but like…. He taught himslef complex physics to PUNCH A HOLE IN REALITY. I think it applies.)? Yeah Isa and Stan are weirdly good parallels.

Mirabelle-> Ford. I’m mostly relating him to Mira becaus Sif the way he felt like he was solely responsible for killing Bill weighed on him. This isn’t the most 1-1, but Mira is someone who is different from her peers. She follows a belief of change while being the most aroace autistic invidual ever who wants to stay the same execpt she gets to be a scholar and learn everything. OK FORD. Also I think if the Change God pulled a Bill Cipher on her she would also become a Sci-Fi hero and go try to fucking kill it, Ty <3

Bonnie-> Pacifica? Sorry the pines family is four members and none of them except maybe Mabel fit into the Bonnie slot, and Maybel is better as Sif to me. They could theoretically be Soos or Wendy who sometimes get added but none of them give Bonnue vibes and also if you have one you need the other.

Loop-> I so BADLY want to say Dippy Fresh…. so I will. Loop is Dippy fresh, fuck you. (Created from a wish of an alternate Mabel wishing that somewhere she had company while going isane? Speaking of Kenny, it feels like he has the opposite problem in some fans' eyes? (I'm not going to pretend he isn't flawed himself, he is. But I feel like depending on how you see his perverted-ness, plays a lot on how you see him as a person. Especially in terms of morals, when it really shouldn't.)

(at this point i think i should clarify that i havent actually watched the newest episodes and am a bit behind, so if im missing anything major thats 100% on me, but i think if there was a massive 180 twist on anyones character i would have heard about it by now)

first off, lets get it out of the way: every single character in south park is flawed. i am never denying that. even wendy, who is generally the voice of reason (kyle is also the voice of reason but hes way more hot headed, while wendy tends to keep her cool a lo better) originally started off fucking insane. she flew a lesbian into the sun because the boy she liked had a crush on her! (a bit tangential, this links back to what i mentioned before about "character development vs retconning", where i think wendy being the (mostly) level headed liberal mouthpiece now is actually supposed to be retconning her earlier characterisation, especially since they were briefly using bebe as the voice of reason (bebes boobs destroy society) before switching their roles because m+t will die of 18th century diseases if forced to write a three dimensional woman)

that said, the fandom definitely has a problem where they exaggerate kennys perversion to the point hes a borderline sex criminal who should never be allowed near women (or smaller, weaker men, since people also do this when they want him to be the strong, dominant seme to his soft, submissive uke (usually butters)), when that is just not true at all

throughout the show, kenny actually treats women with respect. in tweek vs craig, he wants to be in home ec with the girls because its safer, and he never says anything to make him uncomfortable; they actually like him around, and hes only forced to stop taking home ec because the teacher thinks girls should only do girl things and boys should only do boy things. when he wants to trick or treat with the girls in the scoots, its not because he wants to hit on them, hes just lonely and wants to be friends with them. even during the ring, when he DOES want his girlfriend to have sex with him, he prioritises her comfort and happiness and agrees to the promise ring because its what she wants, and he NEVER pressured her into doing anything she didnt want to do! and in fbw, if you play as a girl, mysterion doesnt say anything pervy, he says he has the urge to protect you

the idea that kennys some sort of uncontrollable sex pest comes down to how he has an inappropriate interest in sex (he hit puberty early and his father leaves porn around the house where he can easily find it (exposing a minor to pornography is a sex crime btw just so were clear here, and if youre able to laugh it off with kenny bc hes the comic relief (and people rarely take the sexual abuse of boys seriously) then can you at least think about karen)) and he is 9 years old so he thinks grossout humour and words like "boobies" are funny, which his friends also think is funny, but kyle doesnt get saddled with the "perverted misogynist sex pest" label by the fandom

but generally, kenny is a much harder character to analyse than butters because what kenny represents is much less clear. hes not used as consistently or clearly as butters, and the writers intent is less in-your-face obvious, so we cant cross-reference how his actions relate to his archetype or what real life group hes supposed to be satirising because... he isnt really satirising a real life group. most of what we get from him was an unintentional side effect from 30 years of them using kenny for whatever and his character stacking up overtime, even when they care about him much less than they do stan and kyle (or even, like... clyde 😭)

so at the end of the day... not many interpretations of kenny are wrong, perse. but i think so many suffer by boiling him down to the "comic relief pervert" trope, with only vague references to mysterion or karen in context of "he might be a perv, but he has a good heart deep down!" as if its what justifies him not being put on a list. theres SO MUCH more to kenny if you actually dig your teeth in! you can get a LOT out of the little bits of characterisation they sprinkled in throughout the decades. he is NOT just an uncontrollable pervert, and if you want to treat him like one then no one can stop you but its so obvious where youre coming from when you make kenny some ultra macho sex pest so you can pair him with your sweet and innocent, never did anything wrong, a gust of wind could knock him over Leopold "Butters" Stotch

I SUPPORT: "Skipp x Stone" (Skipping Stone)

Because Skipp and Stone seem like a really cute duo, and it kind of reminds me of the "Squidward x SpongeBob" ship.

And given the headcanon sexualities I have, Skipp is very affectionate, while Stone doesn't have half of it, which I find kind of funny!

I DON'T SUPPORT: "Vinnie x Ditch"

I don't do a whole lot of digging into "Ramshackle" lore for now, but based on "The Other Side" animatic from a few years ago, Ditch just seems toxic and manipulative, and I'm not a huge fan of it sort of trope.

Plus, I find Vinnie wanting to be single for awhile. I don't think she's really desperate to be in a relationship.

Heartstopper

I SUPPORT: "Nick x Charlie" (Narlie), "Tara x Darcy" and "Tao x Elle"

For "Nick x Charlie"... well, it should be pretty obvious. They care for each other, they're affectionate, healthy, and very active during long-distance.

For the two other ships, they're both just really cute and healthy, I don't care if it's unrealistic for all the ships to be healthy, but I couldn't give less of a fuck.

I DON'T SUPPORT: "Imogen x Sahar"

I know a lot of supporters of this ship are gonna attack me for this opinion, but if you actually pay attention to the show, it seems kind of toxic. Like, Imogen stopped talking to Sahar for basically a YEAR because Imgoen was 'in love' with a boy, and still seems pretty mad at her from the end of S2 to mid-S3, and if you actually look at the times when they kiss and whatnot, something always goes wrong, and it's mostly Imogen's popular-ass fault (I'm not a Imogen hater, I promise), and I just like them better as friends.

Plus, it showcases more queer people in the friend group to be single, and that it's okay to be that. (In which the opposite is basically a huge rule in the show that I don't really enjoy :p)

I SUPPORT: "Stan x Kyle" (Style) and "Kenny x Butters" (Bunny)

For "Stan x Kyle", from the clips I've seen online, Stan seems to be really nice to Kyle in more ways than one, and they seem really friendly to be each other most of the time, and it feels more than a friendship, and I kind of headcanon that it'll grow more into a romantic relationship by late High School.

For "Kenny x Butters", from what I've heard people say, they seem to be really good friends, and based on that oen clip where Butters calls out everyone's shitty personalities, and says "The only one with the sense of diginity around here is KENNY"... I rest my case.

I DON'T SUPPORT: "Kyle x Cartman" (Kyman)

I feel like the people who support this ship haven't actually seen the show. Cartman is literally racist, sexist, homophobic, disrepectful, dirty, vulgar, and evil in very way possible 99.9% of the time, while Kyle literally beats Cartman's ass because of these traits. Plus, Cartman literally makes fun of Kyle's religon (Jewish) and hair color (Ginger) in some episodes with little to no remorse.

And while I like some of the fanart, I really, REALLY don't support this ship.

The Amazing Digital Circus

I SUPPORT: "Pomni x Ragatha" and "Ponmi x Gummigoo"

While I support the "Pomni x Ragatha" ship on the more cuddling and affection side, I still think this ship sounds like a good idea, considering how nice Ragatha is towards Pomni while she adjusts to life in the Circus, and Pomni being somewhat stable about everything that goes on around her.

For "Pomni x Gummigoo"... I can really see it. Although it's more of a friendship in the beginning, the vibe the two gave off to each other in E4 is what kind of sold me for the ship (Plus a lot of other people supporting it)

I DON'T SUPPORT: "Zooble x Gangle", "Pomni x Jax" and "Ragatha x Jax"

For "Zoobie x Gangle", while the vibe that they gave off during E4 did hint some romantic shipping for me, I mostly just see it as a caring friendship rather than a romantic. For "Pomni x Jax", I just don't ship it, cause I don't see them being a healthy couple, and some the content farming ruined it even more.

For "Ragatha x Jax", it's basically the same reasons as for "Kyman". They hate each other.

What was your impression of kpop before you got into it and how would you say it differs from what you think now? (@awooooooooooo)

It just wasn't my genre, musically or dance-wise. That actually hasn't changed. I find pop, not just kpop, to be mostly undistinguished, unmemorable music. A lot of the groups sound the same to me, which is probably intentional because very individual, distinctive voices rarely seem to have a place in what kpop is trying to make.

The reason I got into Stray Kids is because they make actually very odd music to be included in kpop. In chk chk boom, which was my first exposure, Changbin raps about how he gorged on victories and now he's too full, and he delivers it with this sarcastic little baby whine. My reaction was Wait, they let you be funny like this in kpop?? The music they make actually is distinctive. Even their dancing aspires to something other than, Look at this pretty model that we trained to step in sync with others. Ateez is the other They let you do this in kpop?? group to me.

What's really changed for me is actually how I think about Idol stan culture in Korea.

Related to but actually separate from the music of kpop is the Idol Industry and the accompanying subculture of 덕질 (A Korean neologism derived from the Japanese term Otaku,and I guess the English word is stanning), right? Girls who are considered "overly" invested in their 오빠 (oppa) of whatever group have a derogatory term - 빠순이 (ppa-soonie) - that's used to mock them. There's also a term 사생 (sasaeng) which western fans seem to have learned really fast, for the extreme stalker types, who I personally think are exhibiting traits of untreated mental illness.

As with slut and bitch however, these words don't have a male equivalent. Because when a man is passionate about something, he's just, you know, passionate. Invested. Normal. Being himself & living his life.

When I really started paying attention male Idol groups for the first time, I had to have a moment of self reflection about having bought into all the negative stereotypes about the 빠순이/사생 or whatever, without ever asking myself, OK but what's being offered these women by the Idol culture and why do they like it so much?

My answer, after relatively short exposure, is this: There's so little cultural content that's even attempting to tailor itself to Korean women that it's natural that boy band fans will go to battle like it's life and death on any issue, no matter how trivial seeming. It's their one airhole in this glacier-covered ocean we're trying not to die in. Almost all of our culture feels like men just talking to other men, everywhere I look. All of it seems made for men, including all the angry misogynist content that screams about how women are talking too much and have too many rights and Korean men allegedly suffer reverse discrimination or whatever. (Bro, where? Pls tell me where that is on this peninsula so I can visit). Anyone ever invited to discuss the falling birthrate is a man, being interviewed by another man. There's such a tiny amount of space available to Korean women to occupy in our actual public discourse, such that bands like Stray Kids and Ateez are actually immensely successful outside the country but the general media inside Korea treats them like they don't exist, because they appeal mostly to women.

There's so much denigration, sneering and namecalling about women spending lots of money to have a 2 minute face to face chat with their favorite singer, while there's absolute silence about the amount of money (and this is public money if your company has had an IPO, right?) that's spent by business men buying prostitutes for each other as a way to curry favor. Any infraction of 'decency' by a woman who may just be unhinged from excitement at a fan meeting is roundly mocked forever on the internet, but actual male sexual crimes are often never punished and rarely even discussed, unless to say not all men.

Because of this hypocrisy, at this point I'm squarely on the side of the 빠순이 and I'm even going to reach out a hand of empathy to the 사생. If they had somewhere else they could easily put their energy, they would, you know? That's what's really changed, for me.

I am a new STAY, part of the stray kids fandom! I used to write fanfictions when I was younger (back in 2012-2013 until 2018), and those fanfictions were about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (Jelena). Once they ended, I stopped writing all together. 

Q: When did you first start writing?

A: Honestly, third grade. I wrote a short story about my stuffed animals going to school. Since then, I’ve always loved writing and English, but it wasn’t until sometime in high school I realized I really liked to write!

A: Early May 2024, so yes, I am a BABY stay. I am still learning about the boys everyday!

A: Honestly, their personalities! I’ve heard their songs before, and recognized their talent. I was first introduced (heavily) to K-Pop from XG (although not K-Pop), and LeSserafim is really the reason I stayed to like K-pop. Since, it’s always been girl groups that I was captivated by and I would listen to guy groups here and there. Jungkook really was the first male artists of K-pop that I really enjoyed thoroughly with his Golden Album. When I saw SK at the Met Gala, something in me changed and I went down a rabbit hole! I first watched funny compilations of them before diving into their music and (un)helpful guides.

A: Each of the 8 members wreck me all the time. But ultimately, it’s Bangchan and LeeKnow because they are closer to me in age (I am 6 months older than Bangchan). LeeKnow has 3 cats and loves them, which instantly connected with me as I have 2 cats and am a cat lover myself. Although any can be my bias wrecker at any given moment, lately it’s been Han and Seugmin the most.

Autism. Not extremely super much is gonna change, but due to incredibly self-indulgent reasons, my mans is gonna get another scoop of the tism ice creme. I really wanna dig into the alienation and isolation that's going to linger in his bones still, really shovel into that sense of self, how he fears he'll return to who he used to be without Toothless, coming to accept and embrace that version of himself, that his deeds don't determine his worth. The fear of not being useful enough after only getting praise after doing something grand, learning how to just be and finding out who he really wants to be, how to carve his own space somewhere

Leading Berk, look, mans loves Berk and he does a very good job, but in this version we're gonna let him explore what it is he actually wants to do, having Hiccup make space for himself as the scrunkly dragon boy or the genuis engineer instead of just Hiccup the Son of the Chief and Future Chief himself. Lots of finding yourself, trying things and noticing maybe they're not right for you or maybe they are and you just needed to look at other things to be sure. (I'm fairly certain he does a lot of finding himself in RttE, but we're currently only at Season 1 and I need that series to shovel coal into my hyperfixation train when the fuel gets low ok, so we're just gonna have to deal)

This is getting too long again, this was supposed to be a list of bullet points, frigglesnaggle, ok Hiccup centric post and cut and dry bullet points next and I'll just slowly elaborate over time

People are gonna be a bit nicer..? Talking about Movie 3 specifically. I mean we're gonna try and dig into those relationships a bit more anyway, though mostly the series I've seen so far have done a pretty funky job of making the characters bond and I'd like to have that reflected in the story. How do we handle dragons? That's a topic I find really interesting for Hiccup, especially faced with Drago and Grimmel. There's definitely gonna be some 'trust vs control', and I really want us to dig into the topic of dragon trappers. Mans has his work cut out for him. But looking at how he could attempt to mediate and educate others and how to deal with those refusing to play nice is gonna be interesting to look at at more than surface level

Ok, starting a letter for Ivan is not that simple to me. Actually every letter for every member is hard to write for me, because I'm always scared to write the same things other fans wrote but it's not the time to speak about this.

Ivan is the first Kingdom member who got my eye. Yes, I'm blunt this time. If I got into The Kingdom and I became so invested about them (even though I don't post that often about them right now but I SWEAR I'm still invested in them, trust me) it's because of Ivan. And also their music but Ivan is the final button, you know? The one who made me stan them.

Now, if I should explain how it happened, as always, the answer will be very complicated. If we're talking about his own album during HOK, I must say that his album has always been pretty high on my own top, although it's not in the top 3 (there are three other albums that just rotate and change their positions depending on my mood, before Ivan's. I'm a very complicated person), and Black Crown has been one of those epic songs that perfectly made what I wanted and craved for the group.

But it's not what caught my eye no. What caught my eye was how Ivan was acting on the MV. Seeing that young boy, looking even more younger than the others, with an almost ethereal look, staring in front of the camera with eyes full of rage and even hate, if you squint a little, was what caught me. Ivan was born to play the villain, the fascinating one, the one who has the same if not more fans than the protagonist. Sure, later we discovered that his character is more like an anti-hero but gosh, the goosebumps I got from Black Crown will never leave me when I see the MV again.

And his voice...oh my gosh his voice, don't let me speak about it or I'll cry. I know that he has been insecure at first, hence why he got few lines in the first songs, but MY GOSH now when he uses it I'm feeling a lot of emotions. You have no idea how I felt when he manages to publish his first cover ever. I was so proud and feeling emotional, both for the song's choice but also because he made it. He finally made it, he showcased his voice in the best way he could and I approved it with my entire heart.

But wait, I know you're wondering if I like his personality off stage too, hehe. But the answer will be obvious: yes. Sometimes I wonder if I have a magnet or something because some of my biases always end up being the ones who say the most unhinged and funny things ever. And Ivan is one of them. Every time The Kingdom does a variety show content, there's a high percentage that Ivan will say something so unhinged that I'll end up smiling like an idiot. Or laughing like an idiot, it depends, haha.

But what I love the most is how he goes at parks. Whether it's an amusement park, a botanic garden or something else, Ivan always shows his best side. He's always excited, he always wants to try new things, even the scariest ones, he's always happy and, even when he doesn't get what he wants like the plushies in the claw machine, he always lets that rage off of him quickly. He always shows his true happiness through his smiles and sometimes I notice how he's incredibly gentle, whether in manners or how he speaks with Kingmakers through the camera. All of this is something that I truly love.

Dear Ivan, I think you noticed by this letter that I really wish the best for you. If I became a Kingmaker it's especially for you, I wouldn't be in this fandom if your way to interpret a character never caught my eyes (or maybe yes but probably I wouldn't have been this invested, hahaha). There have been moments where I rooted for you as if you were part of my family and, sometimes, I saw you as a little brother doing his best for finding his place in the world. Maybe it's my big sister side talking right now, but, even if I'm far away, I'm always cheering for you and hoping for the best for you.

My birthday wish for you is that this year you'll always find new places to explore and find excitement while visiting them. I think BTS are gonna get trotted out for a world tour the moment they're all discharged. That's probably one major step of their master plan for paying off their debts along with the hundred different merch they're selling.

Also I have no idea for sure but everyday I feel more sure that JK's contract with Hybe is less advantageous than Jimin's which is why they will invest a lot more on him compared to Jimin but JK probably thinks it's better for him in the long term if he explodes as a so-called global pop star. It's the same way these music labels (incl but not limited to Hybe) spend tons of money promoting their nugu groups and neglect their veteran groups because groups with > 7 years under their belt tend to have way more lucrative contracts for it's members so the label is more focused on phasing them out than carrying on with them. Armys used to complain at length about this when new jeans used to release too. The parallels in the arguments between pjms and jjks and those between armys and kpop stans about the difference in privileges like playlisting is almost funny. Especially considering pjms are usually former armys and jjks are mostly kpop stans

The big question is, can HYBE stay liquid until the members return from military service and have time to rehearse for their world tour? Assuming they do stay afloat that long, what are the terms of BTS' contract? If the members played their cards right, let's hope they get at least 50/50. Will the proceeds from a concert tour be enough to keep the company in the black? And what's the plan for the tour? Will HYBE work them to the bone they way they do with other boy groups? Will the members even tolerate a long tour? So many questions, so few answers.

As much as I dislike TMIKpop, this tweet explains so much about why Korean record labels are constantly debuting one new group after another, rather than investing in and nurturing the careers of more established groups.

And I totally agree with you about JK's solo contract. How is he making any money off of Seven/Golden when he has no writing or producing credits? Is he expected to pay off the marketing costs like most artists? If so, he'll be in debt forever. Doesn't it seem he's made a Faustian bargain where Bang PD and Scooter are the devil(s)?

Chapter 2 has been so eye opening. Jungkook is definitely not the musical genius the company, and sadly the members, have pumped him up to be. As you said, his association with Scooter and BSH probably feels like his best option if he wants to be a huge global pop star (barf). I'm sorry, but he's got a long road ahead because he's a very average singer by American standards, plus he brings nothing to the table in terms of creativity or artistic direction. It's like his solo career was underwritten by the Make-a-Wish Foundation (no offense to the kids who benefit from that organization).

Jimin is smart! Slow and steady wins the race. Between his endorsement deals and his writing/producing credits, I hope he's making some serious money. I'll never understand why he didn't get writing credits on WHO, though. Jon Bellion wouldn't have written that song on his own - Jimin was the brains behind the concept. Perhaps Jimin not having writing credits was part of the deal with JB? I could see BSH pushing for Jimin to give up writing credit in order to suck up to the major players in the western music industry.

Some people don’t like 2Doc because it hits too close to home in terms of abuse they’ve suffered from and they’ve seen too many stans defend or downplay the abuse, much like people have in their own lives, which is valid, although it’s worth thinking about how the early depictions of it were meant to be slapstick and funny, not something that would slide by today. However, others still are guilty of seeing 2D as nothing but a sweet, innocent boy who is nothing but a victim, not helped by recent canon depictions…in reality, I think you can point to character flaws and traits that have nothing to do with Murdoc, especially before D-Day. Not that that excuses Murdoc, of course! And not helping matters is a lack of a consistent trajectory for Murdoc, even after he claims to have changed…

And it should go without saying that your portrayal of 2Doc is absolutely marvellous. I enjoy seeing more of your writing, when you’re able to, of course!

There's a lot to unpack here, but I'll start by saying thank you! I think I underestimated my ability to juggle multiple projects at once. But I'm happy with my current pace.

As to you previous paragraph, yeah. There are many valid reasons for someone to dislike and scrutinize 2Doc. I blame the slapstick point on Gorillaz, honestly, because they've never done a good job at making a distinction between what's slapstick and what's meant to be taken seriously. I might even argue that one shouldn't depict any slapstick when one of the characters is an abuser and the other character is the person they're abusing, but I also think most situations can be depicted effectively when the writer is competent. And Gorillaz isn't.

And you're right, some fans can go from one extreme to another. There are people who completely downplay the concerns other fans have about the unhealthy elements of 2Doc. Then there are other fans who have trouble depicting or acknowledging any flaws in 2D's character because they worry that doing so might make others think they're excusing Murdoc which is... kind of myopic. 2D can be a flawed person while also being an abuse victim. Murdoc can also be a flawed person while also being an abuse victim. Their layers are what make them so interesting.

IMO there are two major elements at play - the shift towards more watered down, people-pleasing media and to a lesser extent, Gorillaz' shitty writing that's also trying to be as palatable as possible. The former worsens the latter. Gorillaz writing has always been mostly shitty, but since companies realized that they could profit off of really familiar, formulaic stories (I'm thinking Marvel, all the re-boots, etc). It's become what a significant number of people are used to and want, and it worsens people's ability to consider nuance. And this is the group that Gorillaz writing tries to appeal to these days despite their history.

Not much of a blackpink stan but I do look up for their content that shows up on tiktok or twitter (or x, wtv we’re calling it now). I think the group is mid in terms of discography but they have good money going in marketing to make their songs popular. I’ve listened to some of their b-side that weren’t as much known to gp & felt they were good. Or until I happened to know many of these were rejects from some pop singers and yg took them for bp. I don’t bother engaging in fan wars too coz it’s mostly a joke on blinks side as they can’t come up with any quick comeback at army’s except for dragging the boys for their appearance or youtube achievements. Although I have one confession to make, which is lil silly so pls forgive. I think I’ve grown to be a Lisa sympathiser smh in some of these months as I watch their tour clips? There are thousands of clip on Tiktok showing how unsyncronise the group is, mostly jennie slacking as per usual and even other two members looking disinterested in group performances or stiff. Lisa is better than the other 3 from all clips I looked at, which is being used as a defence slander against bts. Defending one entire group’s downfall by one member it’s funny to think about LOL. But just sometime ago I saw one tiktok on feed where they captioned lisa was sick but still performed throughout and blinks in replies were gross saying that ‘she only got fever everyone has it not a big deal’ it was upsetting to read. Like if somebody as an army says something like this to a member they’re surely getting kicked out from army fandom coz this is legit anti behaviour but in blink city they celebrate this? Meanwhile if Jen is leaving stages due to sickness they’re pitying her. IG this internalised sympathy over one member is so dense that members got more solos than whole group stans and blinks know that they’ve failed as a fandom so they nitpick fights with armys instead. Also normalise blaming yg for their favouritism to polarise the group, I think nobody can save them from the downfall when this group disbands. Serves the company right.
