Today, we're going to celebrate a hare. He's, you read it correctly, it's a hare's day today. An artic hare one, to be exact.

They've been made during the first era I "witnessed" as a fan and seeing both my biases like this made me weak a little 😭

I don't need to explain any further, it's time for the letter now.

Ok, starting a letter for Ivan is not that simple to me. Actually every letter for every member is hard to write for me, because I'm always scared to write the same things other fans wrote but it's not the time to speak about this.

Ivan is the first Kingdom member who got my eye. Yes, I'm blunt this time. If I got into The Kingdom and I became so invested about them (even though I don't post that often about them right now but I SWEAR I'm still invested in them, trust me) it's because of Ivan. And also their music but Ivan is the final button, you know? The one who made me stan them.

Now, if I should explain how it happened, as always, the answer will be very complicated. If we're talking about his own album during HOK, I must say that his album has always been pretty high on my own top, although it's not in the top 3 (there are three other albums that just rotate and change their positions depending on my mood, before Ivan's. I'm a very complicated person), and Black Crown has been one of those epic songs that perfectly made what I wanted and craved for the group.

But it's not what caught my eye no. What caught my eye was how Ivan was acting on the MV. Seeing that young boy, looking even more younger than the others, with an almost ethereal look, staring in front of the camera with eyes full of rage and even hate, if you squint a little, was what caught me. Ivan was born to play the villain, the fascinating one, the one who has the same if not more fans than the protagonist. Sure, later we discovered that his character is more like an anti-hero but gosh, the goosebumps I got from Black Crown will never leave me when I see the MV again.

And his voice...oh my gosh his voice, don't let me speak about it or I'll cry. I know that he has been insecure at first, hence why he got few lines in the first songs, but MY GOSH now when he uses it I'm feeling a lot of emotions. You have no idea how I felt when he manages to publish his first cover ever. I was so proud and feeling emotional, both for the song's choice but also because he made it. He finally made it, he showcased his voice in the best way he could and I approved it with my entire heart.

But wait, I know you're wondering if I like his personality off stage too, hehe. But the answer will be obvious: yes. Sometimes I wonder if I have a magnet or something because some of my biases always end up being the ones who say the most unhinged and funny things ever. And Ivan is one of them. Every time The Kingdom does a variety show content, there's a high percentage that Ivan will say something so unhinged that I'll end up smiling like an idiot. Or laughing like an idiot, it depends, haha.

But what I love the most is how he goes at parks. Whether it's an amusement park, a botanic garden or something else, Ivan always shows his best side. He's always excited, he always wants to try new things, even the scariest ones, he's always happy and, even when he doesn't get what he wants like the plushies in the claw machine, he always lets that rage off of him quickly. He always shows his true happiness through his smiles and sometimes I notice how he's incredibly gentle, whether in manners or how he speaks with Kingmakers through the camera. All of this is something that I truly love.

Dear Ivan, I think you noticed by this letter that I really wish the best for you. If I became a Kingmaker it's especially for you, I wouldn't be in this fandom if your way to interpret a character never caught my eyes (or maybe yes but probably I wouldn't have been this invested, hahaha). There have been moments where I rooted for you as if you were part of my family and, sometimes, I saw you as a little brother doing his best for finding his place in the world. Maybe it's my big sister side talking right now, but, even if I'm far away, I'm always cheering for you and hoping for the best for you.

My birthday wish for you is that this year you'll always find new places to explore and find excitement while visiting them. I hope you'll go to many amusement parks with the others and you'll have fun. I hope I can see that wonderful and beautiful smile of yours, truly one of a kind. And that you'll keep being a kind and gentle soul, like I know you are.

Really struggling with depression lately. At first I thought it was the rain… for those who don’t know California has been repeatedly hit with what they are calling: the atmospheric river, or the Pineapple Express from Hawaii. It’s been pretty dreary, lots of flooding… trees knocked over… power outages… you know. Fun stuff. The city, where I live, has remained mostly unaffected by the storms. Though being trapped inside all day every day… is a little daunting.

It isn’t the weather, though I’m sure it contributes. Trying to work on my gratitude practice. I have much to be grateful for, which is why I find this depression so irksome. My relationship with my partner is stronger than ever. We’ve been together for 3 years now… and I guess I am wondering when or if he will ever ask me to marry him. Pretty positive I know the reason why he hasn’t asked though. Finances are tight for him, his work has slowed down and he’s pivoting in terms of career in favor of more stability. He has student loans, plus having to pay his parents rent on top of half of our own. He isn’t left with much to play with.

I work 4 jobs, so I am very burnt out. When the weekend comes, I want to go out and explore the city. I want to see shows, try new bourgeois restaurants, go shopping, go to the movies, play mini golf—whatever. What I’d really love to do is more traveling. I feel trapped by my current situation… I’m comfortable making a lot of money, but I have no free time as a result. There has to be a way to make just as much money… without having to sacrifice so much of my time.

Feeling a sort of creative death. I don’t journal anymore. I used to draw and write in my journal everyday. I don’t paint, or make mixed CDs, collages, music videos… I used to always be doing creative things when I was broke in college. Now that I’m an adult—I have no time for self care, let alone creativity. I don’t even blog on here as much anymore. This is where I used to come to get inspired. Life feels very dull and lackluster these days. Looking to find a way to make more space for creativity in 2023.

I think… I will have to ask my boss to cut my hours. That seems like the best solution. Just 5 hours a week would significantly open up my day. I’d have more time to workout and go for runs/walks. I could actually put up all the things that need to go in my Etsy shop. I could start this YouTube channel I’ve been threatening to start for 3 years. This will require a pay cut, and sacrifice.

Standing up for what I need, and communicating that to my employers is very hard for me. Having healthy boundaries, has always been a challenge. When your boundaries are repeatedly stepped on as a child… you don’t know any other way to act to feel accepted by others. This is the year I prioritize myself. My own growth and development matters too. It’s not healthy to continually sacrifice myself for others all day everyday. Hell—it’s even become my job.

Since our finances are in different places, we cannot enjoy the same activities. He believes the activities I like to engage in are just a means to escape reality… uh, yeah dude. Get me outta here. If not physically, then mentally at the very least. (as that TikTok girl would say lol).

I think I know what I need to do… it’s just plucking up the courage to do it. I pray we get a decent amount of money out of the lawsuit we are in. I’m praying for 40,000$ each. Then I could afford to cut back my hours, and make more time for myself and my art. I beseech the universe for this blessing. Energy goes where your focus goes… I have to remember to practice what I preach.

Ever since Fontaine released their newest device called Kamera, you had been so adamant in getting ahold of one that you ended up going on a travel spree to the said nation. Not even waiting for the shipment to Mondstadt, you left a quickly written note of your whereabouts before you left.

Spontaneous as ever, Albedo thought to himself as his grip on the note tightens with worry.

Luckily, three days later, you hailed from the Hydro Archon's land with your newest prized possession in hand. Triumphant and giddy, both of your lives changed drastically from there.

Albedo first and foremost, almost dismantled your Kamera. Actually he may have already done so behind your back, he was just caught the last time. He was really curious of its machinations and wanted to reverse engineer it.

He only ever lived because he was fast enough to reassemble it and show you that it still works. If not, you were already charging at him to throw hands. You did not travel for three days just for the Kamera to be broken. Whether he found what he was looking for or not, he's not allowed to touch it until he gets his own when the supply reaches Mondstadt.

Knowing your excitement, Albedo takes a sudden day off to accompany you in your Kamera spree, his own canvas and easel under his arm to also channel his artistic energy.

In just a day you managed to take 20 pictures, about to run out of film in just a day. Everytime you snap a picture, you gravitate to where Albedo is stationed to show off what you got like a crow and its shiny rocks. He finds it very endearing, stating his honest honey-covered opinion that makes you overjoyed enough to energize you to snap another, better picture.

The Alchemist sees the appeal of the Kamera and how immediate the replication of the image is. But he still glorifies the art of painting. He may not be able to capture constantly moving subjects but he can capture any detail he wants emphasized unlike the limited rasterization of a photo like that.

He watches you from afar as you skip over to different places and objects, face blooming with wonder as you position your device to snap. He dons a smile when you pull out the photo and wait for the image to materialize, and produce a chuckle when you sprint over to him to show the product. It's like your routine you developed in just a day.

So at times when he needs it the most, he will steal borrow your Kamera to snap a quick picture of something fast moving that he needs to observe immediately or wish to sketch/paint in detail in the future. One of the photos he had hidden for himself had a picture of you in your natural photographer environment as you dash around to look for a scene to capture while you wait.

What's it for? Well he made it into a more intricate painting during his spare time, presenting it to you with the little image taped at the top right corner. It was so beautiful that when outsiders were to see it after they were granted to access his office/laboratory, they always ask for the price for it. Something he adamantly refuses with the coldest glare the Alchemist can make. The negotiations usually end there.

Whenever he was far and you couldn't follow, like Dragonspine for example (the Kamera was still in development so cold temperatures might risk both the device and the processing), you always send him a picture for his thoughts. Either by asking Sucrose, Timaeus or the Traveler if they were en route to his camp, of course.

As you send one to him daily, Albedo started to look forward to your little mail every time. They range from very beautiful sights he hasn't seen before, images of the people of Mond who looks to be greeting him, or of you and the things that would remind him of you.

He keeps a haphazardly strewn journal for it, and in his camp was a board of his favorite picks, and all images of you are tacked on it. The Traveler enjoys watching his cold teal eyes light up whenever he brings the daily image, watching the picture board grow as Albedo tacks the latest one in with obvious pride and joy.

When he comes back to Mond, he brings with him his most beautiful piece from Dragonspine. You'd know it's special because everything is painted in detail, even the most unimportant parts of it. It's his gift for your little photo exchange and you have it put up on wall somewhere in your house.

When he gets his own Kamera, it was his turn to drag you to his photography spree. A little one-sided competition happens between you two where you try to one up the quality of his pictures, sometimes successful and sometimes you don't really... understand what he's doing, as he captures the strangest images.

Albedo uses his solar isotoma when you want to use it for better angles. Very supportive, as you'd hear a snap from beneath as you position your own Kamera.

The whole of Mond muses at both of your antics; as you two would most likely do the finger frame thingy impulsively when seeing something worth the attention, the people around you would chuckle at how cute you two looked, focused on your own little world.

He always gifts you extra films or anything related to photography when he can. Since he barely has time to go out sometimes, he has many backup gifts in bulk to whip out if ever he wants to pamper you with his material affection. Albedo is hyperaware of your hyperfixation and will always bring films the moment you run out, like foresight.

You can barely understand Albedo, despite the closeness you two had, he was still an enigma in most occasions. This was one of them. He had been binging on photography lately and everytime you look through the photos he captured, it didn't really make sense. The most random pictures that you wouldn't even dare use a film on strewn here and there, sometimes the photo is even cut off, and you'd think it was a mistake until he started organizing them in a system only he knows.

When you finally gathered up the courage to ask what all of it was about for, you were given a smile as cryptic as his album.

But as he pulls your hand with an excitement you've only seen when his chemical solution produces the expected buff, you somehow deduced that today would be the day you'd find out what the heck he was up to.

"It took longer than I expected it to be," he says as he starts unlocking a room in the Knights of Favonius HQ that you've never been in before, "but the end result was worth it."

Your confusion only grows as you were met with a face full of hanging pictures, most of it you recognize. Leaning over some and looking up on the higher ones, the amount of string and the confusing way they were set up, amazes you still with the amount of effort he had been using on such a big project.

Your untrained eyes loosely guess around 1000 films used for this.

The glass double doors that makes it way to the balcony opens loudly behind you. "Come here," you turn to see Albedo's silhouette open his arms against the setting sun behind him. "You're supposed to look at it from this distance." His arms engulfs you gently when you moved over, sending a gentle squeeze before he turns you back around to see the hanging pictures.

You gasp.

The depth and the splash of colors from this distance, aided with the sun, turned the hanging collage into an expertly placed collage as it shows you the bigger picture: a mold of your face of the first sketch Albedo made when you first met each other. The angles and colors measured to the dot to capture and replicate your beauty.

You feel his lips kiss the back of your head as you stared in awe.

This chapter was a challenge for me since we see Persephone wake up three different times in chapters 4, 5, and 6. So, to keep at least some form of chronological sense, I'm taking parts of the chapter 6 scene and splicing them into chapters 4 and 5. Otherwise, the events would have been all out of order. “I need to talk to her,” Hades announced as he straightened his cufflinks. However, his confidence faltered just as quickly as it had appeared. There was one problem with that plan. "But, she's with Artemis--" 

"Who passionately hates you!" Poseidon laughed, clapping Hades on the back. 

Hades glared at his brother. "Wow! Really, Poseidon? I hadn't noticed!" 

Looking back into the crowd, he found the Goddesses of Spring and the Moon laughing and dancing out of time with the music. Somehow, Persephone looked even more radiant when she smiled, the sight of it almost enough for him to feel slightly less sour towards her surly companion. Almost. Two hundred years of Artemis' unjustified grudge had cemented his poor opinion of the Huntress. After all, the whole Orion thing wasn't his fault, he was just doing his job. If she wanted someone to blame, she should look to that asshole brother of hers. Of course, she hadn't taken it too well when he had raised that very valid point. 

Yeah, she was going to be a problem.

"Okay, okay, okay.” Zeus sent a smirk in his direction. “I've got a plan."

Hades kept his eyes on the rosy goddess. "Hit me." 

"I'll distract Artemis. While I'm doing that, you go talk to Persephone." 

"Perfect." 

Oh, that was right. There was a reason why he put up with his youngest brother. It was for times like these when Hades required a more…crafty...solution.

"What do I do?" Poseidon asked, pointing at himself.

Hades cast an uneasy glance at Zeus. Poseidon tended to have good intentions most of the time, but his help was often anything but helpful.

"Errrr…stay here and drink a beer?" Zeus suggested. 

"I'm on it."

Oh, thank the gods.

"... And so I punched him in the face, and that was that!" Artemis finished her story with a proud grin and Persephone hid a laugh behind her hand.

It had taken a while, but she was beginning to feel a little more at ease among the crowd. She was just another face in a massive swarm of people, which wasn't so bad. Back when she had that accident earlier with the guy and the drink and all that, no one had pointed or stared. Hardly anybody had even spared a glance at her. Everyone here was too focused on having a good time to take note of her, which, you know, made total sense at a party. It had been a relief at the time, but being invisible to everyone around her wasn't great either. 

"Hello, Artemis. You're looking splendid, as always," said a voice smoother than silk. 

Persephone looked up to see Zeus, King of the Gods, standing behind her friend with a hand on her shoulder and a smug smile on his face. Persephone nearly choked on her drink, she hadn’t expected to see him so soon.

Artemis smiled. "Hey, Zeus. Great party!" 

'Zeus?' She called her father by his name? It wouldn't be entirely out of the ordinary with Artemis' personality, but Persephone wondered if it had more to do with Zeus' preferences over those of her friend. 

Weird.

Zeus' smile became an irritating smirk. "Word on the street is your marksmanship is excellent, but your brother's is second to none."

"Says who?!" Artemis' eye twitched and she jabbed her father in the chest. "I want to settle this right now!"

Wow, Persephone had known the Goddess of the Hunt was competitive, but she had never seen her so fired up. Still, this didn't seem like a good venue for an archery competition. Persephone would just have to wait for Artemis to calm down and then...go back to not talking to anyone else, she guessed.

Just then, she felt a hand on her own shoulder as a voice said close to her ear, "Hey, kiddo. Wanna have some real fun?"

Hades stalked back to the glassed-in suite, fingers fidgeting like mad with the scrap of paper in his pocket. He should have known. He should have known. The Fates must had decided this would be a shitty night no matter what he did, and for him to have tried to change it was a stupid move on his part.

What was even more stupid was how angry he felt about the whole damn thing. The red hue gathering around the edges of his vision and the bluish glow of his reflection told him his control was starting to slip. All those crystal-clear windows were liable to start cracking from here to Tartarus if he didn't get his shit together. 

"Yeesh, that's a mood," Poseidon said as Hades pushed through the door. "Strike out already?" 

Hades crossed his arms and glared down at his brother. "Worse! I couldn't even find her, it's as if she vanished into thin air!"

He had looked among the throngs of people for a good ten minutes for a glimpse of pink hair or skin, but she was nowhere to be found. The universe could have at least given him the chance to screw things up on his own. Then he would know what her voice sounded like, or if she were as stunning close up as she had been at a distance. Maybe he could have even found out how, in that one moment, she had managed to look even more miserable than him when she had been surrounded by so much merriment. 

And now he might never know. The chances of running into the Goddess of Spring in the Underworld were below zero, and it wasn't like Artemis or Demeter would let him anywhere near her when he was topside on Olympus or in the mortal realm.

Gods, he needed a drink. Where had he put that scotch?

Persephone's head felt…heavy. She leaned against the back of the couch, her empty champagne glass rolling out of her hand and onto the cushion. The darkened room seemed to spin around her, the music from the dance floor now somehow muffled, yet still pounding against the inside of her skull. 

Where did Artemis go?

Persephone wasn't sure if she had said the words aloud…or even if she had meant to? Wait. Artemis…she had been with Zeus...and he had said something about…archery? And Artemis' brother? And then that was how she ended up here, with…with Eros. Because he was an archer too…and he was telling her about all the couples he had hooked up while she waited for Artemis. But it had been a while, wouldn't Artemis have finished whatever she was doing by now? 

I guess I don't want to be clingy… 

"Another drink?" Eros asked with a smile, holding up a glass. His hand seemed to shift from side to side without ever moving. 

"I feel…I feel awful." Oh, she heard her voice that time, a dragging sound that was too rounded at the edges. That meant she had said something…right?

Parties were supposed to be fun, but this…this wasn't fun. Eros had seemed nice at first, but now Persephone wasn't so sure she liked him. She wasn't sure if she liked any of this. The crowds, the noise, getting ditched by her only friend...she had thought meeting new people and dancing and drinking would make her feel happier, but now… 

Now she felt lonelier than ever. 

Persephone shifted deeper into the couch, her foot knocking over one of the several glasses littering the floor. Maybe...maybe if she propped her head on the cushion and closed her eyes, the room would stop spinning. Better yet, maybe she could just take a nap until Artemis was ready to go home.

Home...

I want to go home. 

But which one? The one on Olympus she had only lived in for two days? Or...or did she mean the one in the Mortal Realm? The one that was so safe it was suffocating?

She felt a gentle pressure behind her back and under her legs, and soon she was moving. Like, actually moving, which was even worse than sitting still and only feeling like she was moving. She was too nauseous to speak, too tired to open her eyes, too dizzy to--

"I'm very sorry about all of this," she heard Eros say into her ear, yet he sounded so far away. "But, as far as I'm concerned, Aphrodite's word is law." 

After that, there was only blessed, lonely darkness.

Petals sprang from Persephone’s hands as she splashed botanical colors across the hillsides. Roses, crocuses, narcissus, larkspur, lilies, all scattered in a beautiful, chaotic collage through endless fields of green.

“Persephone!” a familiar voice called. “Sweetheart, come here!”

“I’m just finishing up, Mama!” The last of the petals floated away on the wind, and Persephone wondered what would happen if she followed after them. Could she travel through the air like dandelion seeds, bury herself under the dark earth, and spring back up in a cluster of wildflowers? Over and over again? Drifting further away from everything she knew?

Persephone turned away from the hillsides and ran to her mother, a puffy laurel of dandelions forming on her head.

Demeter, tall and stately in her immaculate chiton, cupped Persephone’s cheeks and bestowed a warm smile on her daughter. “You’ve been working very hard, so I got you a present.”

“R-really?!” As strict and disciplined as her mother was, presents were a rare thing indeed.

Demeter put a hand on Persephone’s shoulder and turned her towards their home. “It’s this way.”

“Oh my!” Persephone brought her hands up to the sides of her face. Sitting next to their house was a massive, domed structure of curling wrought iron, whitewashed columns, and panels of gleaming glass. “Is this greenhouse really for me?”

“Absolutely, you’ve earned it.” Her mother leaned towards her with another smile, lilac strands of hair falling in elegant streams over her shoulders. “Don’t just stare at it. Have a look inside!”

Persephone giggled, unable to contain her overflowing joy, and ran through the doors. It was just as lovely on the inside with sunlight filtering into patterns on the ground and the familiar scent of damp earth filling her nose. She breathed in deep to savor the smell, then flung her hands up over her head in one swift motion. Vines of roses climbed up the carved columns, trees sprouted from carefully lined plots and pushed up against the inside of the dome, and blooming shrubs grew in every other free space in a crowd of colors.

Arms crossed in front of her chest, she cast an admiring eye over her work. There was nothing left to do, no more space for her plants to grow. She smiled. “I think I’m ready to leave now.”

She turned on her heel back towards the entrance and froze before she could even take a step. No…that couldn’t be right. Persephone glanced around as her joy transformed into dread. “There’s no door!”

A hot wind ripped through the greenhouse, bringing with it the smell of decay as the cheery, dappled sunlight turned crimson. Her mother stood at one of the windows, green skin bathed in scarlet, wringing her hands while dark shadows pooled under her eyes. She spoke, her tone coddling yet detached, “I took the doors away.”

“Mama, no!” Persephone ran to the window, fingers grappling for any catch or gap along the sill. She looked back to her mother, only to find she had grown to a titanous size, one giant eye peering in through the glass. Tears began running down Persephone’s cheeks as her knees buckled under her, hands going slack against the windowpane. “You don’t have to do this.”

“Persephone, I know this may seem cruel,” Demeter pressed her gargantuan finger opposite of her daughter’s hand, “but it’s for the best.”

“Don’t make me stay in here, I promise to be good!” Persephone’s plea ended in a strangled squeak as her mother’s irises turned dark, melding with her pupils in molten, shifting pools of black. Persephone took a step back, her hand clasped around her mouth so tight that it pushed int her teeth. 

“When you’re in here…” Demeter’s voice came from everywhere and nowhere all at once as it echoed off of the greenhouse walls, reverberated through the dirt, beat from beneath Persephone’s ribcage. Oozing blackness spread to cover the entirety of her mother’s eyes, save for bright, glowing pinpricks of ruby light at their centers, “...no one can hurt you.”

The blackness snapped into vertical slits as her mother’s voice exploded through Persephone’s brain, “NO ONE!”

A low noise droned in her ears, and it took a moment for Persephone to realize it was coming from her own throat. With another groan, this time intentional, she pulled the covers over her head. Gods, what a horrible dream. But that’s all it was, a dream. Just a dream. She wasn’t trapped in some inescapable greenhouse, her mother wasn’t a giantess, and she was safe and sound in her bed on Mt. Olympus. Everything was fine.

She curled her knees up to her chest and froze. No, everything was not, in fact, fine. Wrapped around her were not the comfy, worn covers she’d had for years, but sheets so smooth that they felt unused. She was also still wearing Artemis’ dress from the night before and not her soft cotton nightshirt. Afraid of what she might see, she peeked out underneath the blankets.

Oh no.

Persephone pushed herself upright and looked around with wild eyes. Shadows clung to every corner of the room, filled with dark, angular furniture and the occasional traditional jar or tapestry. The air smelled sharp and crisp like a clear winter’s morning, and the temperature felt almost as cold on her exposed skin. 

She drew the covers up to her chest. “W-Where am I?!”

What is enough?

The last couple of days weren’t the best and yesterday the girls were at their apartment and they were talking about their future. Matteo had listened to it from the safety of his room, but he got an anxiety attack from thinking about his own. He didn’t have a real plan. He felt lost and the future wasn’t bright and shiny. He had called David, asked him to come by and not even half an hour later the doorbell was ringing.

David was winded. He had must ran from his place to get as fast has he could to see Matteo. As soon as he saw Matteo’s red eyes he had thrown his bag on the ground and pulled Matteo in a tight hug. The other one wrapped his arms around him and buried his face in the crook of his neck. With gentle strokes on Matteo’s back David tried to calm him down a little bit. He didn’t know what had happened, but that didn’t matter. All what mattered was to make sure Matteo was safe, not alone. David learned this was his greatest fear, to be left alone. This was the reason he couldn’t move sometimes, the reason why he sometimes wasn’t able to think straight, because his mind was flipping around. Thinking of all the times he was left alone, feeling small and wounded. It took some time to find a mechanism to help him. Sometimes it felt like he didn’t let anyone near him. He was isolating himself, as if he was craving for the hurt and the feeling in his soul. Finding kind of an affirmation for his feelings. David understood. It wasn’t as simple as others may thought. It was a spiral of thoughts and feelings. Most of the times when Matteo was gone to deep it needed a good amount of time to get him out there. But when he was like tonight, it was different. He was reaching out for David, was asking for help and that was a good sign.

So David guided him to his room, greeting the girls briefly on their way. They had stopped talking as soon as David had entered the apartment and were looking curiously out of the living room. But David didn’t care. All he was caring about was the little pile of human in his arms. The minute Matteo had touched his bed, he crawled to his side of it and curled himself up. David didn’t hesitate and placed himself next to him. They were facing each other. Another good sign. Matteo didn’t turn away, he was open to his company and perhaps a little talk, later. For now David was putting one arm around Matteo’s waist, let the other now he was there. The other hand found its way to Matteo’s head, gently fondling though the strands of hair. David could feel how Matteo relaxed and breathed to calm himself a little bit. It was a technique he learned during therapy.

After a while Matteo was finally able to look up in David’s face. The whole time David was letting his fingers run through Matteo’s hair. It wasn’t just because he new this was something Matteo liked during those moments, but he himself loved the feeling of Matteo’s soft hair tingling on his hands.

“You want to talk about it?” David asked with a quiet voice, but Matteo answered with a shake of his head. So David rested his head on the pillow after placing a soft kiss on Matteo’s forehead and whispered Okay.

They were laying in bed like this for what felt like the whole night. The street lamps turned on and the room in a soft yellow light. Matteo couldn’t find to sleep. His head was spinning and David didn’t stop caressing his boyfriend, guiding him through this episode. He new he wouldn’t fix him, but it made the situation a little bit more bearable.

David had fallen asleep at some point, because a voice near his ear woke him up again. He tried to stay awake, but in the end the tiredness had won.

“David?…Are you sleeping?” Matteo’s breathy voice was barely audible, but David had a light sleep, like he was ready to wake up to be there for Matteo every minute, “Hmm…Yeah…Of course, I am here, I am awake.” He rolled himself on his side to face Matteo again. “I think I want to talk about it now.”

They had an agreement. If one of them felt like this, first not able to talk about it, as soon as they feel the urge to talk, they reach out to the other, because sometimes the feeling was going away really quickly. Their relationship wasn’t always easy, but it was the best thing David could imagine. So he was there for Matteo, just lying in bed and listen to his boyfriend talking in his arms.

“I overheard the girls talking about their plans for the future. Which university they are going to apply and the upcoming vacations. And all I could think of was the fact that I have no plan at all. I want to go to university, but I don’t know where. Perhaps I have to leave Berlin and my friends…I have to leave you,” the last words nothing more than a whisper. “I don’t want to go away and leave you.” David felt the tears of his boyfriend burning on his chest. He pulled Matteo closer, wrapping his arms around the body next to him and hiding his face in Matteo’s hair. “Neither do I want you to go…but we have to think about our future. And I know we will figure things out. I love you and you love me, we have dealt with problems before and I am sure we’ll find a solution.” But sometimes love isn’t enough is what he thought, not able to speak out loud his last thoughts. “And remember, we said minute for minute. So for this minute, just try to not think about the future, but the presence, you lying in my arms and me holding you close to my heart. Let’s try to sleep a little bit.” He gave him a kiss on his hair and Matteo lifted his head, silently asking for a kiss, which David was overfond of giving him, a smile on his lips.

Matteo had fell to sleep at some point. He woke up from the feeling of cold sweat on his body. David was holding his hand, a thing they did most of the times. Even if they didn’t sleep wrapped around each other they always managed to hold on to each other. Matteo must have rolled himself from one side to the other. The sheet was rumpled under him and damped. He took David’s hand and put it on his own chest, right above his heart. He was glad he called him last night, was glad to feel his presence after waking up, exhausted but better. For quite a while he was just looking at the boy laying next to him. David looked beautiful and peaceful. Matteo’s sight was caught by a book placed beside his sleeping boyfriend. It was David’s sketchbook Matteo took the book and began to browse the pages. Most of them he already knew. It became a regularity for them. One night of the week they curled up on Matteo’s armchair and flipped through the pages together. Matteo loved those evenings. These were intimate moments and David was always a little nervous what Matteo would say to his artwork.

The last pages were filled with new drawings, all very dark and looking at them made Matteo sad. He didn’t know what they meant and he didn’t detested them, it was just that they touched his mind on a very deep level. He was staring at the pages and didn’t notice David moving next to him.

“Good morning,” David scooted over a little bit closer and placing a kiss on Matteo’s hand which he was still holding in his hand, “What are you doing?”

“Hey,” Matteo tried to smile, but he could feel it didn’t make its way to his eyes so he stopped trying. “I found your sketchbook and I was just looking through the pages. I hope this is okay.” The last part more of a question. David remained silent, studying Matteo’s face and finally he nod, “Yeah, I guess it is okay.”

“When did you draw these?” Matteo asked, handing David his book with the open drawings. David sighed. “These are from last night.” He was touching the pages, tracing the outlines of one drawing with his fingers. “What do they represent? I couldn’t figure out. It is familiar and yet strange.” Matteo asked, pulling David out from his thoughts.

“They show you and what I felt last night while I was watching you sleeping, with worries all over your face,” he whispers in return. Matteo had to swallow. “This is what you think, what you feel about me?” Matteo couldn’t believe it. David brought himself up next to Matteo, never letting go of his hand. “Of course not. Well, not exactly. It is difficult to explain. You were so broken yesterday and this is what I saw. No please, don’t get mad or sad, let me finish,” and he brought his hand to Matteo’s face who could see the worry in the other one’s eyes. Matteo didn’t interrupted him, just nodded. David turned the pages and a collage was opened Matteo had seen before, but they didn’t talk about. David had avoided explaining it and Matteo hadn’t asked any more about it. But now he was telling him the story behind it. It showed a little boy, over him was a heavy cloud. The colorchoice was dark, mostly black and grey. There was a speech bubble over the open mouth of the boy. It looks as he was screaming, but the bubble was blank, painted white. Everything else was covered by a thin layer of grey. “This one I made after you had to talk to your father. You were so small afterwards and it looked as a cloud was hanging over your thoughts, covering you under a layer of misery. After that you had turned away from everyone and there was a dark shadow over your face. It looked like you wanted to scream, but you couldn’t find your own voice. And because you didn’t talk to me about it, I needed to free my thoughts and this is my way to deal with it. I paint and I make collages.” Matteo nodded, but let David continue.

“And yesterday…you scared me. I want you to have a great future. I want you to be happy and to do what you want to do with your life. I don’t want you to keep yourself restrained because of me. What if you find a great course at a university in Munich or Cologne or anywhere else than here? Fuck, I want you to go! And the rest we figure out. That is what I tell myself every time I think about it. But sometimes, like yesterday, I can’t stay this positive. I can’t stop the feeling that perhaps it would be better if we never had met. You wouldn’t have to suffer like this right now. You could make your decision without thinking about me. So tonight, when I had drawn you, I couldn’t stop thinking about the hurt I caused you and will cause you. Sometimes I fear love is not always enough, that we aren’t enough.” Matteo had stiffen while David was talking. He needed to swallow after David’s words and his thoughts were running free in his mind. “I would be in a worse place like this without you. You are the fucking best thing that had happened to me, you idiot. Just the thought of me being happy without you is ridiculous. And I believe there isn’t a single possible way we never had met. This was predetermined and not your decision to make. So stop this bullshit right there. I wouldn’t change this…us for anything in the world. Yes, I am terrified by the future, but I…there isn’t a single possible version for me without you in it.” He let go of David’s hand and took the book. David was out of words. He was just looking at him with big eyes. They never had talked about this with so much honesty.

Matteo was studying the drawings from last night, “I hope the next one will be more positive.” he leaned forward and took David in his arms. “I love you. I know love is not always enough, but we are so much more. So even if I got my moments, when I doubt everything, when the dark clouds are hanging over my mind like yesterday, there is always a part of me which is hoping to get back to you. Sometimes I got the strength and sometimes I have to rebuilt this strength in my soul, but in the end it is always you. So lets make a plan. I know, we said minute by minute, but for the next minute let us think about our future and which possibilities there are for us to be together and work things out.” David let his head rest on Matteo’s shoulder, a light smile on his lips. He loved their dynamic. They were strong for each other. If one of them is struggling, the other one is there, reassuring both of them. “That sounds like a good plan.” and he turned his head, “but do we need to start right know? Or do we have a minute for some other activities?” he glanced at Matteo with a telling smirk on his face. “I guess we could spent a few minutes for other things,” Matteo responded and bend down to meet David’s lips for a sweet kiss.

In the end they both knew that they would find a way to work things out. Nothing was as dark and gloomy as it looks in moments of fear. The sun was shining through the windows and with a new day, there was new hope.

Attack on Titan Chapter 121 Review

The truth hurts. The truth will not set you free. It goes without saying: this series is full of surprises. At the same time, the actuality made a lot of sense. The next anime season can’t come any sooner; the reactions will be jarring. I believe so, because I was floored by the revelations. This chapter had me in one crazy emotional roller coaster; the cliffhanger was the cherry on the top and that’s one sundae I don’t want to have.

Going in to the chapter, I was expecting Eren to try to convert Zeke’s opinion with the rest of the memory trip. Technically, I was right, but not the exact outcome I was expecting. Zeke summarized the last chapter well by stating Eren wasn’t manipulated by Grisha. His life was all lively and well until the wall was tore down, of course. The point is, Grisha has nothing to do with Eren’s influence. So why Eren backstabbed Zeke? Why not end the war? What is his agenda? Life truly began with Eren saving Mikasa. Remember the image of Eren and Armin happily hanging out. The tone is going to get heavy.

The scene with Eren’s first visit with Mikasa now carries more weight than simply Mikasa’s turning point, let alone a defining development. It speaks for Eren’s character to be a boy who will grow up to be a man who will fight for his freedom. If there are men that intend to steal his freedom, he will steal theirs. The shot of the worrisome father trying to calm his furious son let out a troublesome feeling.

The way I see it is, Grisha didn’t want to see his son to go to the path he made a mistake to take. When you recall the last chapter, life was going to be normal with not following Krueger’s order. However, this moment was the beginning of a path that will ultimately set the story straight. Eren’s pride denies Grisha’s desire to restore Eldia. In a twisted way, Eren should be thankful for Grisha’s actions to open his eyes, which means the father is the savior of the world. Wrap your head around that.

I do wonder what is up with Eren’s expression when he watches his young-self wrapping the scarf around Mikasa. It’s a look of guilt if anything. I don’t want to interpret as a pairing moment, but I do believe Eren owes her an apology after that act of heartbreak. It was seriously messed up; hate is a strong word. Hopefully, they patch up their relationship and well, we’ll see where we go from there.

I recall fans were confused on why Zeke, who has the Founding Titan’s power in control, would go to this memory trip to help Eren. I called it, he did it to save him; not going to abandon him. I like the fact he referenced Tom; clear indication of what he considered family. Eren is the only one Zeke has left and despite not being the little brother he wished for, blood is thicker than water. I also like more of the collage of Grisha’s moments, including the famous basement; leaving the note for the story’s great advancement. Then, this is where the chapter unfolds the craziest revelation to date.

Shifting back to chapter 1 left me feeling a good kind of nostalgia. However, that’s not the intention. It builds up the moment when Grisha leaves the house with his family alive and well for the last time. The tone I’m feeling is morbid because we know the downfall begins on that day. The panel paid close attention to Grisha’s expression as Eren argues with his mother about joining the Survey Corps. It’s all going accordingly, but then shocking part number one comes in.

The scene when Grisha promised Eren to return with secrets waiting to reveal is seen much differently. In fact, I was horrified. The truth is, Grisha was in fact staring at adult Eren when he made that promise. I couldn’t shout, “What” any louder. The scariest part is, the scene wasn’t altered; it’s like that in chapter 1. It’s not like Isayama went out and retcon the position. It was designed that way from the very start. It’s most likely just me, but it’s downright eerie to see Grisha watches his family one last time with only Eren being happy and joy. After all, the path will be favoring him from this point on, and Grisha can’t escape the inevitable. Massive foreshadow for the major revelation.

The confrontation with Grisha and Frieda is an emotional roller coaster that I won’t forget for a long time. This is the moment where the series took the course of the story we know today. As we all know prior to this extended scene, Grisha invaded Frieda and the King of the Walls’ HQ, and killed them to devour the Founding Titan. My first impression was Grisha was a murderer that would do whatever it takes to fulfill his destiny. After the last chapter, I assumed he had no choice but to kill them because of the invasion; awakened his old mission to fulfill and carry forward. Now, I am lost with words.

Right from the start, Grisha announced his heritage and plead them to save his family and citizens of the walls from the titans. This completely destroyed the thought of him killing them from the get-go. The fact he begged them first gives me a better impression of his character. He was no longer the old self who was hell-bent to save Eldians; he wanted to avoid hell at all cost. I felt bad for him before, but now, my sympathy is growing more. It doesn’t stop there.

Frieda turned down his pleading, because of her belief. She believed this is their sins and judgment day has come. They can’t afford to use the Founding Titan and fall to the wrong hand. They must accept the price they made. In short, Frieda told him to deal with fate. I guess it’s not a bad argument on falling to the wrong hand, but it does irritate me to think maybe the conflict could have been prevented. I find it funny how Zeke thinks he and Frieda will get along well. They might as well, considering how their train of thoughts are quite similar. The sensation gets worse.

Grisha begged them again, but now it’s making me sad. His expression screamed pain, agony, and broken apart. Frieda, on the other hand, started to frustrate me. Maybe you don’t find her wrong, but it’s mainly due to how Grisha was suffering from a possible solution. If it wasn’t for the last chapter, I wouldn’t be this sympathetic. It’s not to say she’s the villain, but two different belief don’t collide well. No matter how much he cried for help, she stick to her words and let them perish as they felt they are rightfully judged. Eren’s face is filled with anger. I got chills. Now, this is where the chapter begins to drown me in a pool of revelations.

Grisha finally gets to the part where the fans know exactly what happened: genocide. Not without a shocking reveal. We all know that each Shifting Titan has its own perks. Attack Titan was interpreted as a fighter, hence the title, “Attack.” But, was that really it? The real perk is the ability to receive the message from the future successors; in other words, foresee the future. Many have guessed it, but it’s great to have clarification now. I’ll explain more on the reveal later.

The amazing part about this reveal is the contrast. Attack Titan revolves with the future as the Founding Titan revolves with the past. It’s practically the future versus the past. It gives the name “Attack” more meaningful when you include the mythology, let alone the fitting nature for Eren. Isayama, you are a sly man. Grisha was ready to shift to Attack Titan and begin to kill them all for the greater good; well, at least in story viewpoint. I think. Then, a big surprise happens. The scenery led me to believe this is the moment. It was, but something is different. Grisha refused to kill them. I was downright confused.

I thought we have a multiverse in our hands. I thought I needed sleep. Part of me believed he gave up now, only to rebound later to kill them. But, it wouldn’t be necessary for Isayama to write this. It was depressing to watch him cry and refused to kill children, which again, gave me a much better impression of his character. However, if the timeline is fixed for him to kill them, how can he recover?

Adult Eren approaches to Grisha; screaming at him to get up and kill. Like Zeke, I was completely lost with words. Eren shouts at Grisha in tyranny tone and words that are painful as stabbing. It’s not even encouraging; it’s purely manipulative. He pressured him on and on, until he finally made his move. This is the story he started. The scene is far worse than before, and that’s saying a lot. I couldn’t comprehend on what just happened, but it’s actually what it was shown: Eren manipulated Grisha.

HOW IS THIS SHOUNEN?!?!

My brain isn’t processing well enough to continue. Our hero is the main villain. Well, not really, but the action is incredibly twisted. When you have to fight, you fight. Eren has stuck to the code since the beginning and this is where it led him to. It’s not to say he loves to kill, rather had no choice on the matter to advance to freedom. You can tell by his reaction towards the mass killing. It’s “whatever it takes” gone horribly disturbing. This is madness. As for Grisha, I’m astounded. First, he came off as a villainy character. Then, a redeemed character. Now, I can safely say, he’s the most tragic character of them all. That is unholy.

It’s incredible how Isayama can decipher a character that is more than meets the eyes. I haven’t changed my opinion on a character this many times before, but here we are. It’s hard to watch him cry; wondering if this pleased Eren. He also begged to see the rest of the future. Attack Titan was tearing him apart. Although it’s more than black and white, Eren comes off as a villain to his mind. The son manipulating the father; that’s messed up. Grisha’s life is suffering.

To add more weights to his character, he can finally clearly sees Zeke in the current time. The following scene is really heartbreaking. I didn’t expect Zeke to receive a closure under this circumstance. The way how it was written made it seem like Eren is hell, but Zeke is the son he wants to communicate. He tells him that Eren’s future is chosen and Zeke won’t have his. Once he sees him clearly, he embraces for forgiveness. It hits me in the feel with Grisha hugging his first son, and Zeke calls him, “Dad.” That’s powerful. Family is family. Before closing out, Grisha has one last words: stop Eren. It seriously paints Zeke as the protagonist.

In case this is too confusing for anyone, Zeke summarizes the whole revelation. I like the detail on Zeke calling Grisha dad, only to revert back to calling his name. The embracement affected him dearly, and understandably so. It’s the fatherly love he wished to have, and he got it. Long story short, Eren foreseen the future through his future-self’s memory, which led him to manipulate Grisha to set the path we’re journeying through today. Eren learned about everything four years ago; the moment when he held Historia’s hand. How rewarding.

Let’s discuss about the reveal on time messaging. Some speculated that they can travel through time. The reality is, they can only receive the message from the successors as well as see their presence, based on Grisha’s early turmoil. This eliminates actual time traveling, and it’s probably for the best. The series could get really messy when one can actually jump through time and alter it at will. By that, I mean changing a timeline multiple times alas multiverse. It narrows down to one timeline to focus on with the use of possibly multiverse visions.

It’s kind of hard to explain. I like to think of the series Orange. In there, the story involves with students that received messages from future selves in order to correct their mistakes. There’s no time jumping, no other multiverse to explore, aside of one for characters’ purposes, and it only focus on one timeline. In short, what we see is one timeline that has been “invaded” by the future. It doesn’t mean they will jump time now; the damage is done. This is the path.

As for Eren the Mastermind, it made tons of sense. It’s no wonder Grisha appeared in miserable pain prior to passing down the Titans to Eren. Now I get why he told Shadis to not get involved. He was manipulated by that point and his destiny was to fulfill Future Eren’s future. It connects far back to Krueger with his confused statement about Mikasa and Armin. Maybe there will be more towards it, but since Eren is the mastermind, it’s no wonder those two names were brought up. It’s incredible when you look back and see the pieces coming together.

As for Eren’s character, it’s believable to think he has changed when he saw the memories. The only part that is missing is whether he can see everything or only certain pinpoints. It’s addressed more or less at the end, but we’ll get to that very soon. The reason to be concerning is due to how Eren has been plotting and reacting. It’s not said the future is pre-determined, but perhaps it’s why Eren has been trying to change something.

Once he saw the memories, his focus changed drastically; wanted to take down the world for freedom. What I want to know is, does he know every outcome, including Sasha’s death. He was frustrated when he heard the news; was it a reaction to his future fate unchanged? Connie did say he laughed as well. Did he laugh because of an act of a villain, or was it a reaction towards his destiny to be inevitable. It’s clear that Eren is trying to change the journey, but the destination is locked in. This is merely a speculation. There’s a chance for Eren to elaborate his memory trip in depth. We know he has, but we don’t know what he has seen.

One of my predictions has Zeke converting to Eren’s side alas the good side; if you can even call it that. Honestly, it sounds pretty damn silly. Reminds me of Naruto in its worst days; which is why I hope it doesn’t happen. Fortunately for me, Zeke resume his first and only intention and force Ymir to enter the PATHS to end the Eldians. You would think Grisha’s forgiveness will change his mind. Instead, it encouraged him; now, against Eren and favor for Grisha. What a crazy round about.

Zeke does bring an interesting point though. If Eren becomes desperate to stop Ymir, wouldn’t that mean he didn’t see this coming? Can he only see certain destination? My guess is, he has seen everything, so he is trying to change its journey, but the destination remain the same. That or it’s gotten worse. It’s hard to say, but regardless, if Eren fails to stop Ymir, the future doesn’t belong to his.

This chapter was quite something else. It’s remarkable with its execution and paneling. I couldn’t do justice on describing the impact of these panels, especially the last scene with Grisha and Frieda. The artwork has come a long way from chapter 1 and it’s fortunately presented really well here with deep and sorrowful expressions. The revelations were mind-blowing, yet the puzzles fit in place. It ended on a hell of a cliffhanger; probably worse than the time Eren lost his head. This is it; the path to end all. We’re in the endgame now…

Greetings and thank you for taking a few minutes to review this admittedly odd, yet timely posting.

The position referred to herein will become the second member of a start-up organization of a type never before attempted, to our knowledge. It is based on fundamental principles which founded the United States of America so many years ago. That we, the People, have the inalienable right to pursue life, liberty and happiness. That the role of the government is to do for the individual that which the individual is unable to do for him or her-self, and to enable each citizen to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.

The formation of this venture comes at a time when, with increasing clarity and sense of urgency, we have come to understand the necessity for the People of this nation to do for the government what the government is unable or unwilling to do itself. Recognizing that, in such circumstances, we the People of our grand community, of common belief and patriotism, must assert ourselves, pivot, and exercise the powers granted each of us by the Constitution and indeology of this great land.

We do this because we must; it is our duty, our privilege, and our honor, to abolish and/or alter the government as deemed needed by consensus of the common People. I recently graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in Sociology, and I´m currently waiting for work in the Peace Corps. I am passionate about serving in the PC, but I have not ruled out the idea of pursuing an alternative. And due to some bureaucratic foils, the PC application process has given me plenty of time to think about other opportunities for service. Moreover, I´m currently living in Madrid, I moved here a month ago to spend time with my brother and nephew who live here permanently; and the contemplation of my personal goals and desires has heightened living here. interesting, but very vague. What do you see changing so greatly in the future? What are

your solutions for surviving these changes? What types of people are you looking for to create

ways to survive these changes? What types of skills will they need?

You say you are not getting any help because people don't understand. Perhaps what you

need to do is list the changes you expect. Put down the ways to handle each change; what

you need to do to survive; what resources you need and what people skills will be needed.

List any goals you have other than surviving the changes.

This may attract more people if you write it up in simple, concise language and print it onto

a sheet or two or a brochure for your umbrella company.

In addition to all the things I am already. I, too, am an idealist.

 That is why Mel Feller loves being a grandpa to his 4 grandkids in Utah.  He has two boys and two girls.  He spends as much time with them and sharing life and life skills with them every opportunity he gets!

Therefore, here are his tips:

 Share your wisdom

I know that knowledge can be taught, but I have always wondered if wisdom can only be gained. I have concluded that it can be taught, but mainly by example. Fortunately, grandpas are all wise just ask us! We can play that role by setting an example and being close by when a child is in need.

 Grandpas, when a child needs a listening ear, listen. After you have listened for an hour or so, a child may be open to a single sentence of your wisdom. Never make the mistake of trying to impart any more than that. It will be lost. In addition, teaching wisdom does not mean correcting. That is seldom a Grandpa’s place. When necessary, a quick “don’t do that” should suffice. I wasted many a word with my own kids trying to explain why some behavior is unacceptable.

 Issues of right and wrong can and should be discussed, but it is much more effective when done in a quiet moment, after the storm has passed. An experience from your own life would be helpful in such a situation. If you ever made a similar mistake, let them know, then let them know how you learned to avoid making it again. If you never made that mistake, tell them of someone who did. If you can invent a whopper with a horrendous outcome, so much the better.

 Get the kids outdoors

Kids seldom play outside anymore. Whenever possible, get your grandkids out of the house, away from the TV, the computer, and the Wii. When we were kids, we just got the neighbors together and played in the backyard. When you have the kids over, take them out in your yard and play soccer, dodge ball, tag, or kick-the-can like you used to.

 If you camp or hike, take the grandkids with you. Short hikes are okay, even just to the Dairy Queen, and camping is great even in the backyard. Climb a tree or a rock with the kids, or at least give them a boost up and ooh and aah about how high they are. Walk along a stream. Skip rocks on a lake. Get them swimming in something other than a chlorinated pool. Gaze at the night sky. Find the Big Dipper. Count shooting stars. Contemplate the universe, God, and man together.

 Take your grandkids on vacation and show them what mountains, forests, and seas look like. However, do not just get somewhere, experience the journey. Drive them from coast to coast or clear across Montana, Utah or Texas where they can experience wide-open spaces. Show them what nature has to offer.

 Get them involved in sports

Kids may love to play sports or they may hate it. You may hate sports, too. Nevertheless, they still merit some exposure.

 Kids from kindergarten up today only play “organized” sports. However, organized leagues take no childhood initiative. As a kid, I was the neighborhood organizer. I would go from house to house seeing who was available for football or baseball, so I had to develop my promotional skills.

 There may be no better option to organized sports for your grandkids — they should not be left out of modern society, after all. However, you can become involved: Take them to games and practices yourself. Cheer loudly. Coach if you are able. Definitely spring for ice cream afterward.

 In addition, teach sports history. Show the kids a picture of yourself in your tight-fitting basketball shorts. Tell them about your heroics. Let them know who Babe Ruth and Wilt Chamberlain were. I once saw an interview with an old man who had played basketball for James Naismith, the inventor of the game. When asked what had been the greatest change in the sport, he said it was the addition of the dribble. I still laugh at that. I would never have guessed basketball was once played without dribbling.

 Share Treasured Keepsakes

I got divorced recently, and the experience reinforced a lesson I’d learned earlier: A picture is worthless until it’s seen.

 I carried out boxes full of pictures, journals, notebooks, speeches, career mementos, and many other treasures. I realized my grandkids would never see these things until I was dead and my kids sorted through my stuff that is, unless I did something about it.

 I am no pack rat. Aside from my photos, there are maybe three boxes of stuff I would like to keep. But what good are they if no one ever opens them? I am not saying you should litter your home with trinkets. Some grandparents overdo it and are accused by people of hoarding.

 Display the things you are proud of or that impart a vision of the past — a plaque, a collage of medals, a painting, anything of yours that you would like your grandkids to see. Keep photo albums available on a prominent bookshelf or a coffee table. Your children will most assuredly look through an album featuring them, and grandkids will want to see old pictures of their parents. An album featuring grandpa and grandma as youngsters will be of special interest. Do not wait. If you do not display, you will die depreciated.

 Help Them Become Good Citizens

When grandchildren are old enough (typically around 2 months) you should begin to impart your views on politics. If their parents’ ideas differ from yours, do it quietly or out of range, but if the entire family agrees, feel free to harp away on any news item, politician, or unwanted tax, are there any wanted ones?

 Let yourself become known as a grandpa with strong opinions, but not a stick-in-the mud. I tell the grandkids that I have the right to complain about taxes, but I still pay them. I tell them we have an obligation to our nation to be honest and to be supportive of its laws, but that we also have methods in place to make changes when we feel it necessary.

 It is okay for grandkids to know you have strong feelings on current events. Involvement in politics is patriotic. I am no activist, and I have never run for office. However, I always vote.

 Create a Family Language

Every family should have a made-up language of its own, and grandpa can be the main source. In our family, squeet has replaced let us go eat, and squate means I already ate. A grown-up has become a dolt instead of an adult. Come up with your own crazy words and phrases. They will make you unique. They will help you overcome your temper. Best of all, they will make you immortal as your words are passed down from generation to generation.

 Many families also have phrases parents use to see their children off to school, or off to dates, such as Remember who you are, meaning do not do anything to disgrace your family. Wanting to be original, but not having the intellect to come up with something more profound, I always said to my kids, do not hit anybody. This phrase has become the standard for my grandkids, too. Unfortunately, on days, the car was wrecked or someone got into a fight, the kids reminded me that I had not said it that day.

 Make the most of being a better grandpa!  You will never regret the fact that you have such great opportunities to love and be loved.

A couple days ago I was driving to a doctors appointment, I was rushing and very nervous. I got to a road that was closed where I had to back up. I looked behind me and saw no cars. Then I started talking to my mother who was in the car about if the road was closed or just partly blocked off. I looked in my mirrors and started to back up, somehow I must have missed the car that was very close behind me. I barely tapped the bumper, my mom didn't even realize it happened that's how slight the tap was. The woman immediately jumped out of her car and started screaming and cussing like a maniac. The police blocking the road even noticed and had to come over to control her. There was no damage to my car or hers, however she was driving a 92 buick and it was a piece of junk. I was worried she'd try to get something out of the whole thing so I took pictures of everything. This must have made her angry and she started trying to take pictures of my mother and I as well as bird poop on my car? Hello Thank you for entering in my post I've been with Admiral insurance for more than 1 year, which is my 1st car insurance since I've been in England I've been driving for more than 12 years and I've never made a claim before it was a normal and clear day and i was going to work when I had an accident with a girl riding a moped It was a very silly accident, fortunatelly none was injured, and I only had a broken wind-mirrow, which is no more than 50 of damage I had to call Admiral, my insurer, to sort the problem out, I had no other choice Admiral told me I was not covered to go to work since on the policy agreement says: use for social, domestic and pleasure purposes only. And, according to them, to be covered, my policy had to be: use for social and COMMUNITY. So Community for them means, going to work, it is ridiculas but that's what i was told However they said we cover you, you will have to pay 23.74 extra and you will be covered, it was frustrating, a theft, but I let it go... The absurd story didn't even start yet! I gave Admiral all the details which the police had given to me the day of the accident plus some pictures of the scene, which I took before to leave that day Admiral sent an inspector who interwied me at my house. This inspector wrote a statement of 6 PAGES! about my accident, however, I need to say, he did a very good job On the statement states that none was injured and the fault lies with the moped rider, which is also what the police said on the scene. In addtion this inspector suggested to call my insurer again to finally get my car fixed. Admiral told me I will have to pay for the damage myself and, after all their investigation, if they find out it was not my fault, I can ask e refund for the damage, and they added that this investigation can take up to 3 years, so I will have my money back in 3 years! this is because according to them, the moper rider was injured This is absolutely incredible What would you suggest? I would like to get rid of this Admiral policy as soon possible, I would like to claim against it Who could I call to claim against Admiral? I do like larger cars like SUV's and pickups and compact crossovers but that is not to say that I do not like smaller cars. So I was in an accident last week. It was a minor fender bender and was my first accident in the 9 years of driving I've had. I've carried my auto and homeowners insurance with State Farm for about 15 years. I've had multiple auto claims but only one claim on my homeowners poicy. I had my roof replaced about four years ago when most houses in the area were damaged by hail. I've been very happy dealing with state farm but I'm considering a change to travelers. Here is the background: I am 27 years old and I just learned to driver a little over 7 months ago. Looking at the giant canvas in dismay, Carli Walters felt overwhelmed.  There were so many emotions she could not name them all, but her anger was what was threatening to take over. Who would do such a thing? Carli knew the answer already, but could not help feeling the sharp stab of disappointment. It was their actions that set all her hard work into motion in the first place, now it threatened to ruin everything.

The 6 foot long by 4 foot tall canvas was Carli’s final project of her 8th grade year, a capstone to the roughest time of her young life. Someone sprayed the words scrub, pig, beast, and thing all over her work in blood red paint. Her massive collage was about bullying and there it stood vandalized.  A victim. At first Carli felt like giving up and going home. Then, something within her told her not to throw in the towel just yet. Use it!  Mr.Younger’s voice in her head gave Carli the push she needed. A lightbulb went off in Carli’s brain as she began to plan how to do exactly that, Use it!

Before Carli first entered the halls of Grove Middle School at the start of 7th grade, life was easier. She had gone to the same school with the same students every year of elementary and never questioned herself. Then, when she got to middle school everything changed  and growing up got harder than she ever imagined.

When looking at Carli Rose Walters, one would be forgiven for thinking she had a perfect life.  The oldest daughter of Mark and Jane Walters, with her long brown hair and big brown eyes that seemed to shine when she smiled. Carli lived a comfortable existence through elementary school. Sure there was teasing from time to time, but it never really bothered her. Then she started at Grove, and got her own phone.

Carli’s parents started to notice that Carli didn’t smile as much anymore and she began to behave differently. Carli was angry and they didn’t know why. They figured it was all about puberty and that it would ease as she got older. That is what they believed until Jane Walters had an unexpected day off from work.

When she arrived home at 2:15 from a shopping trip, she was expecting the house to be empty as Carli was not due home from school until 2:45. She was surprised to hear loud music coming from Carli’s room. Upon opening Carli’s door, Mary caught the site of Carli curled up on the floor, her cheeks were stained from her tears. Alarmed, Jane ran over to her daughter to check if she was alright.

“Baby? Are you alright? What is going on Sweetie?” Jane’s words were panicked and her eyes wide with worry. She checked Carli’s limbs and chest for signs of injury. Finding none, she grabbed her eldest daughter’s shoulders and lifted her up to hold her. Her baby was hurt and she knew deep down that it was not something she could fix as easily as a boo boo.

Carli said no words, she only lifted her arm to show her mother what she held in her hand. Carli’s iPhone was open to her instagram account and a photo that she had posted. The photo showed Carli smiling shyly up at the camera. Jane started reading the comments underneath. First, Carli’s comment asked, What do you think?  What followed broke Jane’s heart.  The first comment in response came from a boy:

You are less than nothing, you should do us all a favor and end it all now, saves your family the food.

Every comment after the first was equally horrible.

Jane was overcome as anger, fear, and sadness swept over her. She held her daughter in her arms, at a loss. Who would do this to her baby?

“Baby, talk to me, who is doing this to you?”

“I don’t know, everyone, it seems like everyone, Mom.” Fresh tears poured out of Carli as she curled back up into a ball, leaving Jane with one arm around her daughter in an awkward embrace. All she could do was hold Carli and comfort her until they could talk some more.

When Carli’s crying stopped and she felt like she could sit up, she looked at her mother with wide, blood-shot eyes.

“Why would people be so mean, Mom? I don’t understand, they were my friends once. I just don’t get it, what is wrong with me now that wasn’t before?”

Carli held her hands out in front of her to emphasize her bewilderment. Jane looked at her daughter struggling to find the fault within herself and could no longer contain her anger.

“Carli, there is nothing wrong with you. What they are saying is not true, the things they say are meant to be hurtful. They don’t have to be true in order to hurt you, as long as you believe them, they win.”

“How can I get them to stop? It is everywhere. At first it was in the halls of school, but now they are everywhere.” Carli began to cry softly to herself as Jane moved to put a lock of Carli’s hair behind her ear.

Jane began to think about Carli’s words, they are everywhere. She looked down at the iPhone face down in her palm. Who are these kids? Jane opened Carli’s instagram and began to read all the comments. After five minutes of reading Jane could not take any more. All the kids were from Carli’s classes, kids that she had grown up with.

“First thing we are going to do is go down to the school and let them know what is going on. They must know about all of it. Then we will have to talk to these kids’ parents about their behavior.”

“I don’t think that will work, Mom. They will know it was me.” Carli’s eyes widen with fear as the idea of them finding out played in her head.

“We cannot let them get away with treating you like that. I cannot stand by and do nothing when they are making your life miserable. I won’t stand for it, the school has to know about this.”

When Principal Akerman met with Jane and Carli she listened carefully to everything they had to say. Faced with the instagram comments, there was no denying something had to be done, but what?  Since the messages were online, the school could not do anything past monitoring those students more closely. However they did inform the off-duty police officer who provided security to the school. He filled out a report of cyber-bullying and planned to call all the parents of those children in to inform them of the charges.

In the weeks that followed, things got much worse for Carli. Each day there were kids staring at her and talking behind her back. Kids would purposely bump into her in the halls, causing Carli to drop her books. When Carli would try to pick up her books, they would get kicked down the hall. Sometimes the teachers would catch the kids in the act, but then sometimes they wouldn’t.

On one of the days when there were no teachers on the quad, Carli rushed to get to her next class. She had gone three quarters of the way there before a rock hit the back of her leg. Carli whorled around to see who had thrown the rock. A rock went by her head before she could see who was throwing them. Carli had to duck and run for her next class as quickly as she could.

The smell of mineral spirits and clay was the first clue Carli got that she was in the wrong building. Carli had mistakenly run into the art department, but the universe is seldom that sloppy. Carli walked around the colorful room looking at all the paintings and pottery sitting out on the tables. The colors were exciting and the designs were magical.

“Can I help you with something? Ms. Walters is it?” a deep voice came from the doorway.

“Oh….I um….went into the wrong building.” Carli stuttered, flustered at being caught snooping.

“It’s okay, everything over there is drying. Do you like art?” He raised a questioning eyebrow.

“I’m sorry, Mr…..” Carli stammered, she did not know this teacher.

“Oh I am Mr. Younger, I am the new art teacher here.” He explains while cleaning paintbrushes.

“Mr. Younger, I am late for my class.”

“Oh I am sorry to keep you, I can write you a pass excusing your tardiness.” He moved over to his desk and quickly jotted down an excuse. “I think the coast is now clear as well so you should not have a problem getting there this time.”

Carli’s eyes widened in shock that Mr. Younger had seen what had happened.

“Don’t worry I will be reporting what I saw, but I do want to ask you one thing. How are you handling it?”

Carli was rather confused by the question. Surely, as a teacher, he has heard about what is being done. Mr. Younger seemed to pick up on her confusion when he cleared his throat.

“Let me rephrase that, how are you holding up? This cannot be easy for you.”

He was right, it wasn’t easy, but how can she tell him or anyone how she was holding up? She had no idea herself.

“I guess I just have to keep going, I guess.” Carli murmured.

“Well if you ever need an outlet to get all the crazy stuff going on out of you, I have an open workshop after school that I think you would enjoy.”

“But I am not an artist.” Carli protested.

“Everyone is an artist, Carli. You just have not found your tools yet.” Mr. Younger left the room leaving his words to linger in Carli’s mind.

That night at dinner, Carli told her parents about what Mr. Younger said about the after school workshop. Both of her parents thought it was a good idea and encouraged her to go. The next day after school, Carli walked into the art building not knowing what to expect.

Upon entering, Carli was surprised to see each student working on personal projects. One student was making a sculpture, another painting on a canvas, but one stood out to her out of all the others. This girl, Rachel Gordon, was dipping paper into a solution and then flattening it onto a canvas. Carli realized when she looked closely that the paper had words on it. It read, “Lightening in a bottle” in a variation of different words and letters put together.

“Rachel is making a collage, you see. She picks out images and words she wants to put together and seals them on the canvas with the mod podge. In the end she will tell as story on the canvas.” Mr. Younger’s voice startled Carli at first, but she was too in awe of Rachel’s work to care. Carli felt like maybe. just maybe, she had found her tools.

In the months following, Carli blossomed. The teasing still went on, but Carli had something to look forward to that was all hers. Six months seemed to go by so quickly because Carli was having fun. She also found that while she was creating amazing art, she was also letting go of the hurt little by little.

Then it was announced that the students who taunted Carli would get a slap on the wrist for their bullying. Carli felt betrayed and hurt, she did not go to school that day. When he heard the news, Mr. Younger came by the house to talk to Carli and her mom.

“How are you doing, Kiddo? I saw you weren’t at school and I understand why.”

“I am okay, I just didn’t want to face it today.” Carli mumbled half-heartedly.

“Carli has been closed off in her room all day.” Jane chimed in.

“You cannot have gone through all that you have without hurting, Carli. You are human and even most humans would not have been as strong as you have been throughout all this. You have a voice and something to say. Now that you have the tools you need, make a statement. All that you are feeling now, Use it. Use it to send your message and help others understand.”

Use it…

It took an entire year of collecting clippings of words in all colors, mean and hurtful words that Carli collected in two boxes. Once she was ready, she decoupaged the massive canvas with all the words she collected. She shaped them so they looked like two waves of insults crashing into one box and out another. Then she painted the words a dirty gray just so much as the colorful words shown through.

With the graffiti large and red now taking up the four corners of the canvas, Carli knew she had to incorporate the words somehow. Since they were insults she let them be, but painted a large white rose in the center of the canvas. One could still see all the words, but this big beautiful rose covered everything in protest. Carli only stepped back from the canvas when she heard people gasp.

Turning around, Carli was face to face with two of the kids who bullied her and their parents. The parents were in awe of Carli’s work and the two kids looked down at their fingernails stained around their edges with red paint.

Having heard about the vandalism, Mr. Younger came running down the hallway.

“What happened here?” Mr. Younger asked.  His eyes widened as he took in Carli’s collage.

A proud smile spread over Carli’s face as she looked her teacher in the eyes.

“I used it!”
