this time itâs different, imagine neteyam knelt in front of you and begging you not to go after he betrayed you? câmon now guys i canât be the one whoâll only suffer with this idea that struck me đ â wc is 2.6k !!
warnings - vulgar language, neteyam cries you guys NETEYAM CRIES!! my poor baby. oc gets/feels betrayed, one slap mention, where neteyam who is the mighty future leader of the clan kneels in front of you and begs for forgiveness, he fucked up :(
like and reblogs are appreciated! i love you guys so so much and this is 1.2+ followers celebrating gift <3
âi trusted you.â â neteyam sully (â
)
part (two) â (three) â (four) of this series.
the naâvi females are gathered to spend time together and talk teas while their significant others and soon to be mate left for a war party. you on the other hand being one of them, or so you thought as you all laugh and bring the old moments or funny moments you all had
ââŠand thatâs how i met tarâkeyâ one of the female navi blushes as she tells her story of how she met her mate years ago.
âthatâs so heartwarming, oh mother eywa!â the other females giggle and awe. youâre silently sat as you try to ignore some of the noisy naâviâs whispering until they mention the soon to be olo'eyktan and your ears perk up
âhave you heard about the first born of the sully family being set up for a mate?â
youâre somehow confused and excited when they mention about mating because you knew it was going to be you. neteyam was going to be mated with you.
âyes! and iâve heard sheâs so pretty as to very similar to her motherâs beauty.â the other whisper
her mother? you never had a mother growing upâŠ
âsheâs so lucky, honestly imagine being the future mate of the future oloâeyktan? so dreamy.â the girls sigh imagining it and let a soft giggle out. youâve frowned as you try to thinking deeply and try to make sense in what just the naâvi girls said
the female clan keeps murmuring and talking as they make friends with huge circle and a wooden fire in the middle of the circle, while youâre trying to put pieces together.
what do they mean âbeauty of her mother.â when you didnât even have one? neteyam and you were soon to be mated, yes you knew that and he told you he only wants you in his future but what the girls talked about was another completely different person
you wanted to run to neteyam and ask what youâve just heard but he wasnât near by, he has already left to the war party right after he made love to you as a good bye the whole night, you were crying mess being of how you loved this man as he cradled you to his body and held you tight.
youâre confused and somehow trying everything but decide to eavesdrop to what the two females are talking. âi havenât seen her here, did she not want to join us?â the one asks before the other scoffs,
âof course she wonât, after all sheâs the future leader of the omatikaya clan.â the other states, now youâre feeling way too desperate to know about her but itâs breaking your heart to figure out itâs not you
and this means? neteyam lied to you.
ânever mind, letâs just get back to what we were listâ oh mother eywa! sheâs here! sheâs here!â
your heart starts to beat faster as your eyes look around to know which one is the so called future leader of the clan. âwhich one? i see two girls standing!?â the females arch their neck to see more and the other pointing out makes you know who exactly theyâre talking about
your heart doesnât just entirely break one piece following the other, everything around you was blurry. you needed to leave right now.
âexcuse me,â you stood up as you made your way out. the naâviâs asked if youâre okay but you just shrugged them and told them youâre feeling sick.
once you stumbled your way out and walked far enough from the naâviâs, you finally find yourself on the trees of sounds. where your lover and you exactly made love. of course you two were gonna be mated and doing the deed didnât bother you at that time but right now?
right now youâre feeling the burning of your skin where neteyam exactly placed kisses and his skin touched you. your whole body felt dirty right the moment you figured out youâve been⊠played.
now everything started to make sense, why neteyam always feared of you both getting caught, why he didnât want you to meet with his family, why he never⊠a soft sob leaves your lips as your eyes close.
of course that naâvi was better than competed to you.
beauty? her. body? her. has a family? her. everything? her. your jaw clenched as you feel so foolish for blindly trusting a man⊠a fucking man.
the pain youâre feeling doesnât compare to when you felt right after your mother abandoned you. this was making you struggle with breathing, your lung tightening with every try youâre making to let air in.
what did you do wrong to deserve all of this?
youâve really been fooled, you knew everything was too good to be true. youâre now realizing how stupid you were to think the future olo'eyktan mating with some abandoned and adopted daughter who only served as a professional arrow shooter.
âeyaw, it hurts.â you cry, tears freely rolling down your skin. you cry to your mother nature your heart out as everything of this place reminds you of him.
you want to hate him but no, it only keeps hurting to even think about hating him. neteyam was everything to you while youâre nothing to him, you were ready to throw everything from him but he only used you and backstabbed you
meanwhile youâre crying your heart out to eywa, the clan has returned from the war party with few people hurt and non dead. neteyam was happy and eager to tell you the war went so perfect like it was planned. no death and few people hurt but his eyes keep wandering trying to find you
a tint of disappointment settles in him when he realized you werenât there, but you promised you would watch him from far so the naâvi wonât be suspicious about you two. at least until he makes it official, and today is the day he will make it official to his parents youâre the one he wants
oh how he was so late for this.
neteyam figures out you werenât anywhere here so he just shrugs his parents and tells them he needs air for a while. obvious that theyâre proud of him today, jake didnât bother and already shrugged his son off
neteyam tries to hide his excitement when people greet him as he made his way to your hammock.
eyeing the naâviâs and once he checked no one is watching, he slipped in but was greeted with no warmth or scent of your body. âprincess?â he calls for you but nothing talks to him back
frowning, neteyam leaves you hammock and climb down to think where you could possibly be. it doesnât take him long to figure out where you are and jogs to the destination he thinks youâre found.
and just like he thought your body comes to his sight as youâre stood in front of the tree of sounds, your back facing him.
neteyam chuckles as he walks to you before wrapping his arm on your body and pressing himself to your warmth.
you in other hand feel your body tense with his skin touching yours. âiâve missed youâ he groans to your hair as he place kissed on the back of your head then to your neck. you donât even try to say it back or turn around to hug him.
neteyam does fail to notice your odd behavior and step back a little giving you space to turn around to him but youâre just frozen. âprincess?â he calls for you but you just try your best to compose yourself from falling apart
the man in front of you feels his inside worry before heâs forcing you to turn around and face him.
but what he was met with was what he never expected. you eyes are swollen and puffy like youâve been crying for hours, âwho did this to you?â was the first full sentence neteyam utters and you ironically scoff at his words
it was him, he was the one who did this to you.
he tries to cup your cheeks to his large palm but you step back as if his touch disgusts you. and in fact, it does disgust you right now. you know youâll run back to him if he touches you and youâre not allowing that
âbaby?â his breath hitches when you avoid his touch and his brain instantly start to figure out youâve already found out but neteyam chooses to ignore it until you say it yourself
he tries again by stepping close to you but you were fast to speak. âis it true neteyam.â it wasnât a question and the way you called his name darkly makes his heart hurt and tell him youâve definitely had found out.
but he chooses to play dump.
âwhat is true, princess?â those pet names makes your stomach irrupt in nausea and you shake your head. âdonât call me that, iâm not your princess, never have been your princess.â the way you say it calmly scares him
sure thing neteyam fell for your calmness and mature self but right now he wishes you could just punch him or yell at him.
youâre trying to stay calm before slowly opening your mouth to speak. âyou have aâŠâ you canât even finish the sentence feeling your throat close in pain. he again tries to play dumb but this time you hiss at him silently.
talk about happiness? it can vanish in a heartbeat.
the atmosphere as changed to a heavy one as neteyam watches your broken self in front of him.
âyes.â those three letters were enough to entirely ruin you. you stumble on your own feet feeling dizzy, neteyam tries to hold you from falling only for you to slap his hands away.
âlook at first it was just a rumor but then my parents and her parents set us up, set me up.â neteyam starts to try explaining but it only hurts you more. neteyam watches your tears fall and his heart bleeds out, he really wanted to tell you
âi never loved her, i never want to be with her, i never want Ă€eya.â neteyam steps closer, âi want you and you onlyâ youâve heard the name before, so many times actually that you grew up wanting to be Ă€eya so bad.
the daughter of the tshaik thatâs the perfect daughter from the clan and it didnât surprise she had to be mated with him. what hurt you was him lying and leading you to his great fucked up game.
âi fall in love with you princess, i love you so much it always hurts.â youâre painfully silent and it eats him alive as he desperately seeks for something in you. âi trusted you..â you back away, his touch bringing nothing but pain
if someone from yesterday came to you and told you that this would happen, you wouldâve shot your arrow at them but again look at you desperate for things your lover was saying were to be lie.
âwith youâ princess please.â neteyam doesnât know why heâs pleading but he knows he wants to wipe those tears and take your pain away. âdonât touch me.â you warn when his fingertips held your small hands
âDONâT TOUCH ME!!â
neteyam froze at his spot, his tail locked between his legs. this was the first time you yelled at him, the first him he heard your true pain through your voice. âi hate you! i hate you! i. hate. you.â neteyamâs ears flatten at your words that were like daggers to his heart.
âdonât say that, please donât say that baby, please.â he was begging you now. neteyam always chose death than being despised by you.
âyou knew the whole time, neteyamâ youâre saying it so clam and softly itâs making him feel like he deserves death and every painful torture to be done to him. âi told you i have no one and you were the only person i trusted with my everything and you were the only one i have.â youâre now crying
âhow could you do this to me?â
how could he do this to you?
neteyam licks his lips and sniffles, he nods agreeing with you. âi was gonna make it official, today i was going to tell them youâre mine and iâm yoursâ your eyes widen but you quickly shake them off, you shake your head disagreeing with him
âiâm not yours.â the way you said it was not with in an anger but pure honesty, hatred and disgust. neteyamâs breath hitches again and his eyes start to whelm. âi was never yours.â
you were his, you promised yourself to him last night as he did, you were his first time and first person in everything. you were his future and his own actions took his future away from him.
neteyam could only watch your broken self in yourself and did nothing, the little abandoned girl youâve hidden coming out and telling him everything last night before making love completely gone. he was met with your side he never thought he would see
âiâll never be yours.â you knew your words hurt him and you definitely wanted them to just like heâs hurting you
neteyam suddenly kneels in front of you and pulls you by your hips, wrapping his arm on your waist and pressing his face to your stomach to hide himself from reality. âi never wanted you to find out this way, please let me make it right. let me make everything right, please princess.â
he doesnât care you warned him not to call you that, no matter how hard you try not to be? youâll always be his princess. youâre just frozen there with the man you trusted giving your soul to just take everything from you wrapped around you.
âlet go of me.â you tell him and silently pray he does or youâll kneel and hug him back.
neteyamâs body shake as he is now violently crying himself in front of you and youâve never seen him like this. âneteyam, please let me go.â you try but no answer, only whimpers and sobs from the man knelt and face pressed to your tummy are heard
you purse your lips and place your hands on his hands to pry them from you. âplease donât do thisâ neteyam was the one begging. âwe both are promised to one another last nigââ you cut him off.
âthere was nothing last night, last night was nothing but a mistake i did.â your words not only emotionally but mentally affect neteyam. once you start to leave with no words, neteyam panics and get on his feet quick
âyouâre not leaving meâŠâ he didnât know the damage he caused until he realize heâs losing you. you ignore him and walk away but neteyam was fast to hold you by your hands making you turn and slap him across the face
you hate yourself for doing that but you hate him most for making you do that. âi said donât touch me.â you say coldly, youâre now the woman he never knew. âand if you dare to try to come close to me again, neteyam,â your soft voice he knew wasnât there, âi will kill you.â
youâre not just threatening a normal naâvi but the actual future olo'eyktan and you donât feel a slightest fear when you do. âand trust me when i say that.â your words were familiar just like the first time he met you.
cold and unbothered of anything.
neteyam doesnât say anything when you turn and leave but once youâre slightly far, your face turns ugly mess as you cry.
neteyamâs ears are still flattened as his tail is locked between his legs. right the moment you were out of sight, neteyam felt his world darken and went grey and gloomy. nothing would be the same with out you every again.
it was his fault this happened, he abandoned you just like your mom and everyone else. you hate him now and nothingâs gonna be the same. âiâm sorry, iâm so sorryâ he whispers as heâs standing right where you left him. right where you promised yourself to him last night. right where you gave yourself to him.
right where you trusted him.
i might make this a miniseries? i donât know lmk in the comments though iâll depend on my creativity and flow of plot,, i love each and everyone of you!! like + reblog are appreciated and not pressured

Not So Grumpy (Part 2)
Part 1 Here!
Pairing: Tim Bradford x fem!pregnant!wife!reader
Summary: Months after being introduced to the rookies, you get a chance to see them again. After your baby is born and Tim's grumpiness continues, you finally have a chance to properly meet them.
Warnings: grumpy!Tim is a softie for his wife and baby, there's a baby but no details about labor or anything, lots and lots of fluff, Wopez spoilers (s1-2)
Word Count: 1.3k+ words
A/N: This was better in my head. Oh well.
Itâs been almost three months since Tim âintroducedâ you to the rookies. While youâve been prepping the nursery, attending doctorâs appointments, and trying different stretches to prepare your body for labor, you havenât seen Tim any more or less than usual. Halfway through your pregnancy, he got clingy with you and grumpy with everyone else. Though you havenât been around the station recently, you assume that hasnât changed. While thinking about Tim, you gasp and hold your stomach as you breathe through a contraction. Youâre ready to meet your baby but still have a while to go. Plus, you have to make sure Tim is there. Heâs grumpy enough without missing the birth of his first child.
You found the perfect onesie during your trip to the store and canât wait to show Tim. You and Tim decided not to learn the gender of your baby, and the neutral-colored onesie with a police car and âMy Dadâs a Superheroâ made you smile, so you had to buy it. Plus, youâre experiencing contractions and miss Tim, so you drop by the station unannounced.
As you walk in, someone calls your name. You look up and smile when you see Angela Lopez waving.
âHi, Officer Lopez,â you greet.
âPlease, itâs Angela. Are you here to see Tim?â
âI am.â
âI donât know where he is but come with me. Weâll find him.â
âThank you.â
âHow is everything? With Tim and the pregnancy?â
âGood. Babyâs healthy, Tim is amazing.â
Angela snorts before she tries to cover it with a cough. You donât have time to ask her what is so funny before someone else says your name. At least you recognize the voice this time.
âHi, Tim,â you reply with a smile.
He nods once before he takes your hand and leads you away from Angela. You wave over your shoulder, and she smiles knowingly. Â Alone in an empty hallway, you extend the bag toward Tim. He takes it but sets it down to hug you before opening it.
âYou okay?â you ask as he pulls you close.
âBetter now,â he answers softly.
âI canât imagine you being grumpy,â you answer, rubbing your hand along his spine.
âI miss you.â
âJust a few more weeks and then youâll spend every minute with me and a baby. Youâll be begging to come back.â
Tim pulls back and rolls his eyes at you. You know he will be a great father because heâs already an amazing husband. Not that youâd admit it, but youâve been counting the minutes until he gets to stay home with you and help you recover and care for your baby.
âOfficer Bradford,â someone says at the end of the hallway.
You step back and take the onesie from Tim as he turns.
âWhat?â he replies shortly.
âGrey needs to see us in ten minutes,â Angela adds, pushing her rookie Jackson away from Tim.
âThen Iâll be there in ten minutes. For now, leave me alone.â
âAngela,â you say, stepping to Timâs side. âThanks for the gift. I really appreciate it.â
Tim takes a deep breath before thanking her. She sent a gift home with him months ago, even though she didnât really know you.
âOf course. Iâm glad you like it,â Angela replies.
âAnd Iâd- weâd- love to have you over for dinner after everything settles down. And Jackson, Lucy, and Nolan can come too, if theyâd like.â
âWe can?â Lucy asks excitedly. She steps around the corner and looks at you rather than Timâs glare.
âAbout time we get to meet properly, right?â you reply.
âIâm going to go tell them,â Lucy cheers before disappearing again.
âDonât you dare,â Tim snaps. âYou got an invite. Learn to keep personal matters personal, Chen.â
You wrap your hand around Timâs forearm, and his shoulders drop as he exhales. Thereâs no apology, but he stops yelling at Lucy.
âHere,â you say.
Tim races to hold you as you bend down to retrieve the bag. He scolds you lovingly for moving too much before he takes it from your hand. You smile and nod toward the bag. Tim shakes his head in loving annoyance before pulling the onesie out. He holds it up to read it, and his face softens as every semblance of grumpiness disappears.
Throughout the progression of your pregnancy, as his paternity leave gets closer, Tim has grown less grumpy. Part of him hates that he has missed so much of your pregnancy, though, and that anger and disappointment comes out at work. As he folds the onesie and places it back in the bag, he pulls you against his side and kisses your temple.
âSuperhero, huh?â he asks.
âWe think so,â you answer.
Tim looks down at where your hand rests on your bump and covers your hand with his.
âI promise not to miss so much next time,â he whispers.
âYou havenât missed anything,â you assure him. âMake sure youâre at the hospital to catch the baby, thatâs all I need.â
âI will be. Iâll be there the moment your water breaks.â
You smile and tilt your head to kiss Timâs jaw. âWait, next time?â
5 Months Later
âHi, Angela!â you say as you open the door. You pull her into a hug before leading her toward the kitchen. âHowâs everything with Wesley?â
âGood. I found out heâs, like, disgustingly rich, so that was something,â Angela answers.
âInteresting,â you agree. âAnd the mom situation?â
âRemedied. I can understand his side of it now, too.â
âHow do you know so much about this?â Tim asks from the kitchen. âHeâs a lawyer, thatâs all I know, and I have to see Angela every day.â
âHave to see,â Angela scoffs. âWeâre BFFs, just admit it.â
âNo.â
Someone else knocks, and you remind Tim to be kind as you leave to invite everyone in. Lucy, Nolan, and Jackson are waiting excitedly at your door. Lucy hands you a small gift bag as she enters.
âThank you,â you say. âCome on in. Kitchenâs this way.â
The baby monitor on the island blinks before your babyâs cries fill the kitchen.
âI got it,â Tim murmurs. He picks up the monitor and drags a hand across your back as he walks toward the nursery.
âDid you find a solution to the closet problem?â Lucy asks as she sits beside you. âOh, and you look amazing by the way.â
âThank you. And I did.â You chuckle before pointing out, âYou text with questions about where to go for a second date and Iâm asking about storage solution for newborn clothes.â
âBecause youâre happily married and not destroying your apartment in an attempt to look good for a guy who calls you the wrong name,â Jackson adds.
âJackson!â Lucy exclaims.
âSorry, but itâs true.â
âYou text them?â Tim asks as he returns with your baby in his arms.
âOh my gosh,â Lucy coos at the sight.
Tim narrows his eyes at her before looking back at you.
âYes, I do. You wouldnât introduce us, so I took it into my own hands,â you answer. âYou need anything?â
âHey, how long have you guys been together?â Nolan asks.
âI donât like this,â Tim complains as he returns to the kitchen.
âHeâll drop the act soon,â you whisper conspiratorially.
âItâs not an act,â Tim calls. âSo, it will go away when they do!â
After your dinner company leaves, you take care of the dishes while Tim spends quality time with your baby. As you walk into the room, he extends an arm toward you. You make yourself comfortable against his side as Tim holds the baby against his chest. He may be grumpy with everyone but the two of you, but you wouldnât change a thing, and Tim wouldnât either.
âI love you,â you whisper in the comfort of your shared home and life.
âI love you,â Tim replies. âEnough that I can stop being grumpy.â

When He Knew He Fell For You
bakugou katsuki x reader
could be read as gn reader (i think i hope i didnât imply any gender đ)
readers quirk is heat control, basically reader can control the air temperature ig around them for a long period of time and has a very strong hold of said ability and bakugo fangirls over reader. thatâs really it lol
He didnât realize at first when you walked in the classroom on the first day. it was like his soul oddly felt calm for once. eyes glued to you and his face warming up.
When you sat next to him completely ignoring him and in your own world. He thought that was weird, everyone in the class tried speaking to him initiating a conversation with him to get to know each other better. it was funny to him how you didnât speak at all and people automatically were drawn to you.
When you first displayed your power during your training. It was so intense and unbelievable hot, like actually, the whole class was overheating and the ground looked like it was melting.he thought with the use of your quirk he could most definitely always use his quirk no matter the weather. and that was when he started to admire your, and that was when he first ever initiate a conversation with you. simply asking you about your quirk and the limit to it.
When he learned more about you, he admired how much you trained to be able to control such an intense quirk. He liked how you seem calm and collected, yet once on the battlefield, itâs like a whole new person is born. such an intense gaze with an overwhelming power. oh how he loved it all.
Fast forward towards the time where he got kidnapped đ.
By that time you guys have already formed some sort of relationship where you guys arenât friends but get along and spend some time together ( his words not yours). he recognized how much his friends fought for him to get him back. though, what caught his eye was how hard you fought to get him back.
oh how he felt when he saw the air around you start to heat up and how the air turned into smoke(?), how your hands heated up it mightâve been like 150 degrees hotter than the normal temperature around you, and how fast you were moving towards the league. they definitely regretted not kidnapping you instead of boom boy.
poor boy felt so embarrassed to be admiring you at a time like that. he quite literally had stars in his eye soon enough he snap out of it when he saw izuku he knew it was his queue to leave.
that was definitely the time he realized he liked yo. took him a while lol.

How do you think the turtles from ROTMNT would deal with their feelings if they were in love with someone (be it human, mutant, Yokai, etc.)?
A/N: To be honest, I had to think about it for a long time, with all four XD But I think it could work. If you don't like it, that's my opinion!
Warnings: fluff, a little angst, Mikey being a little cutie
_______________________________
Leonardo:
He would want to spend time with you all the time
He would turn his teasing into flirting just to see you blush
If you are human, he sometimes accompanies you to school and back home
During your lessons, he sometimes writes to you
If you were a mutant, Leo would always challenge you to strange things, but sometimes let you win, just to see you happy
Sometimes he wins with a lot of distance and he tries to "cheer you up"
If you were a Yokai, he would ask you strange questions
"What were you born as?" "Are you interested in mutants and humans? Are you something like bisexual?" "Oh my God, imagine if we started a family, how funny our children would look!" (After the last question, he usually locks himself in his room because he is ashamed)
Although Leo is very self-absorbed, he also sometimes gives you compliments or dreamy looks (maybe also everytime cough cough)
When you are not together, Leo thinks about you 24/7. He just can't get you out of his head
Inside, he sometimes fights with himself about whether he should write to you, but he doesn't want to annoy you too much
Sometimes he also has his low points, where he sometimes wonders if he is even good enough for you
If you are a human, he would sometimes wonder if you would even find a mutant attractive
Raphael:
Raph would try to continue to act tough and he would try to treat you just like everyone else
But it's incredibly difficult for him
If you're human, he'll always want to help you
A glass is too high for you to reach? He'll lift you up or bring it down for you. You're hurt or not feeling well? Raph turns on his mother switch and he'll take care of you until you feel better
If you are a mutant, Raph can only admire you
No matter what kind of animal you are, he would always find details about you that he finds beautiful
If you were a Yokai, Raph would first ask you about Big Mama
But he just can't hide his admiration. When you show up in front of him as a human, he is always briefly shocked because you very rarely walk around as a human with him
But he likes you, as a human and as a mutant or Yokai
When his brothers make annoying comments, he ,,coolly" waves them off
Leo: "Hey Y/N, Raph is staring at you again!" Raph: "I am not! I was just looking past her, nothing more!" *blushes af*
Raph also likes to carry you around on his shoulders. He loves to see you laugh or feel your hands on his head
Whenever Raph sees you laugh, his eyes sparkle and his heart beats so much faster, sometimes it even overwhelms him
But sometimes he thinks that he is neglecting his role as leader because he mostly focuses on you
When you two are not together, Raph talks about you all the time, in front of his family. It even annoys Mikey now-
Donatello:
Donnie didn't want to admit it at first, but whenever he's near you, he feels comfortable and safe
If you're human, Donnie would help you with your homework and exams
Since he can't go to school himself, he's always happy to help you. When you sometimes had home schooling, you even called him so he could listen
If you were a mutant, Donnie would first research everything about your species
So when he finds out what your species likes to eat, he finds that food for you and brings it to you
If you were a Yokai, Donnie would be even more interested in you
He would always ask you questions, take notes and he also constantly asks if you could do certain tests for his research (nothing that could harm you <3)
He keeps everything secret though, he would be deeply ashamed if his brothers or you found out
When you are not together, Donnie looks at old selfies that you took together or he asks Sheldon what is wrong with him
"I think you are in love, master Donatello." "Don't be stupid, Sheldon⊠Y/N is justâŠ" Silence. "Oh holy banana pancakes."
Most of the time Donnie closes himself off from you, hoping his feelings would fade (spoiler: they got stronger)
Michelangelo:
Poor little boy, is completely overwhelmed
At first he thought you were just a friend, like April, but no no, you are so much more
Whether you are human, mutant or yokai, you have found a special place in his heart
If you were human, Mikey would ask you stupid questions or he would let you buy his favorite pizzas to eat with you
You usually buy a lot in the afternoon, only to eat it with Mikey at night, usually watching Jupiter Jim movies at your home
If you were a mutant, Mikey would just stare at you in amazement, as if you were the most valuable thing in the world (which you are, to him)
When you are on missions, Mikey also likes to watch you fight to see how you move
If you were a Yokai, he would be completely surprised, because he thought the whole time that you were either a complete human or a complete mutant
But he doesn't really care what you are, he has mostly fallen in love with your personality
He behaves like a little child who sees the most beautiful person in the world (which again you are for him <3)
Mikey dreams about you, writes you sappy messages and constantly wants to have physical contact (for example holding hands, hugging or even a kiss on the cheek)

Name: Fried Eggs Worm (Archipheretima middletoni)
Debut: Real Life
What the! Whuzzah! That's a! WOW! This is how I felt upon learning about Fried Eggs Worm for the first time, and I hope you feel the same way, because MY GOODNESS! In this world, there exists an earthworm, which is a deep blue, and has spots that look just like sunny-side-up eggs. Sometimes it looks like the yolk was punctured and spilled out! Better hope a Toast Worm is nearby to sop that up!
I could not BELIEVE I had not learned about this creature until just a few months ago, and I could not let it be obscure any longer. This is one of the most incredible creatures, and now you know about it, too!
Perhaps the reason for its obscurity is that it was only "formally" discovered and named rather recently, in 2009. Of course, the people who had been living in its native range in the Philippines had known about it long before that! How could they miss it, really? I will remind you: this worm has Egg Imagery all over its body.
Some local folklore suggested that these silly little wigglies might be the juvenile form of an eel species from a nearby river, and if you're familiar with eel development, something that strange doesn't seem all that out of character for an eel. The truth is, the Fried Eggs Worm is quite out of character for an earthworm! It is more of a leaflitterworm, because instead of burrowing in the soil, it burrows in the leaf litter. It is thought that the funny spots might help it camouflage in there by resembling light pouring through the leaves, kind of like a baby deer's or tapir's spots!
The Fried Eggs Worm does not spend ALL of its time in the leaf litter. Oh, no. It isn't even born in there. It's born in a doggone TREE. Their babies have been found in the leaf axils of the pandanus tree, meaning their parents CLIMB TREES in order to reproduce. Arboreal annelids! These limbless tubes are better at climbing trees than we are, and we're apes! And more ridiculous still, so far only one baby worm has been found per tree. These babies might each get an entire tree all to themselves with no competition. Is that really necessary? I think Fried Eggs Worm may be showing off, but it has every right to do that. I hope it continues!
Fried Eggs Worm should be the new Easter mascot. Nothing against rabbits, but they're one of the most popular animals. They have enough, I think. And they're not Egg at all! They don't lay eggs, and they don't have any visual egg motif. Fried Eggs Worm, however, lays eggs, and is covered in egg iconography! Second only to Fried Egg Jellyfish.
In conclusion, this eggcellent creature worms my heart, and I hope you feel the same way, especially if you did not know of them before! It feels representative of the fact that we will never know every creature of this world, and there will always be more to learn!
If you're a REALLY devoted Fried Eggs Worm Superfan and want to show it to the world, use this simple guide to steal their look!

The Evolution of Gillian Anderson's Friendship with David Duchovny
Early friendship:
He was an experienced actor when they started The X Files, she had been receiving unemployment benefit and had been in front of cameras only once before.
And she admits: "I desperately needed someone to show me the ropes and David did. He was wonderful."
There were rumours of a secret romance, which would have got them both fired on the spot. It is a strict studio rule that there will be no intimacy between the stars - off screen as well as on.
But Gillian did find love on The X Files, in the shape of assistant art director Clyde Klotz. And she did turn to Duchovny for advice after acting spontaneously on her wedding night, taking no precautions and finding herself pregnant.
She was horrified, believing she would get herself fired and ruin her career.
[âI went into his trailer,â she recalls, âand I said, âDavid, Iâm pregnant.â It looked like his knees buckled.... And he asked me if it was a good thing. I said, âYeah, it is.â]
But her co-star, who was the only person she confided in apart from her husband, put Gillian's mind at ease.
He advised her not to have an abortion - that things would work out. And they did.
He kept her secret while Gillian thought things over for a month.
1995:
David Duchovny is not happy.....
Anderson, sensing Duchovnyâs mood, looks down at his hand on her left shoulder and tries to brush it away, as if it were a mosquito. Then she turns and jumps into his arms, laughing, looking like a little girl making trouble for a protective older brother. Startled to be holding her, the smile on Duchovnyâs face is forced no longer.
...âWe really trust each other,â Duchovny says simply.
There is, between these two, a real-life camaraderie born of necessity, a friendship strong enough to survive too many work hours, and a chemistry powerful enough to rearrange the atoms on-screen. âWhenever weâre acting together,â says Anderson, âitâs there.â
1997:
But in real life, Duchovny and Anderson have a relationship as much a conundrum to outsiders as any X-File.
âWe have a relationship that is completely odd and fabricated,â Duchovny says. âWeâve been thrown together, two people who donât know each other, and weâve been forced to spend more time together than married people do. So you canât describe our relationship as âlikeâ or âdislike.â â
Sounds a little frosty.
âIt is frosty,â Gillian Anderson agrees when she is read Duchovnyâs description of their relationship. âBut itâs accurate.â She laughs. âItâs not that we donât like each other. Itâs complicated.â
2008:
Question: Can you talk about getting back into these characters after a five or six year period?
David Duchovny: The first two weeks I felt a little awkward and I didnât really feel like I wanted to do longer scenes. I was just fine running around. Then as soon as Gillian and I started working and it was Mulder and Scully, then I kind of remembered what it was all about and that relationship kind of anchored my performance just as I think the relationship anchors this film.
Shock: Whatâs that like with David now that youâre not with each other 16 hours a day on a series?
Anderson: Itâs great, but it was great then, too. This is like a sibling relationship and I never had siblings.
What is your favourite thing about each other?
Duchovny: Gillian just doesn't give up.... She'll hang in there 'til we get it right.
Anderson: ...The easiest answer, I guess, is his sense of humour. He's always looking at the funny side of things, especially when he's around other actors who are comedians or funny themselves - it can turn into a bit of a contest to see who does the best impressions and such. But aside from that, there's a gentleness inside him that comes out every once in a while that is quite disarming and lovely. It's rare, but very nice.
2014:
Q: Was there a sense of almost a bunker mentality where you were at least going through this process with David? You mentioned he had more experience, he had done some bigger films but still the phenomenon that emerged within the first couple years was pretty remarkable. Did it help to have him there too and kind of like âAre you getting this too? Are you going through this too? Is this weird?âÂ
A: No. No, not really. We talk about the fact that itâs crazy that we didnât. And that we didnât take advantage of the fact that we had each other but it was complicated. These were long hours that we were working. We spent more time in each otherâs presence than we did with our, you know, spouses and children, etc.
But also, you know, I think we p***ed each other off, quite frankly. And I have no doubt that after theyâre waiting â weâre gonna roll and somebody has to come in and redo my lips and the difference between the maintenance for guys and gals and weâre shooting in all weather â you know, we never shut down except for one day for weather in the entire show. Â We were shooting up in Vancouver through rain, sleet, everything. And my hair would frizz up to here in between takes and theyâd have to get the blow dryer out under the tent and weâd be waiting for Gillianâs hair to do another take. You know, that p***es you right off. It adds up. So I, you know, Iâm sure there were plenty of things he did that p***ed me off too. It just wasnât, you know, but on the other hand.. NOW, we get to talk about that and weâre probably closer than weâve ever been.Â
2015:
Not surprisingly, she and Duchovny also became the story â according to the press, they were having an affair, hated each other or both. âI mean, yes, there were definitely periods when we hated each other.â She starts again. âHate is too strong a word. We didnât talk for long periods of time. It was intense, and we were both pains... for the other at various times.â
How was Duchovny a pain... for her? âErm ...â Ten seconds pass without a word. Meanwhile, her smile gets wider and wider till itâs halfway up her cheeks. âIâm not going to get into it. Iâm not even going to begin to get into that. But we are closer today than we ever have been.â
2016:
Anderson on working with Duchovny âOur relationship has definitely become a proper friendship over the last few years. I think weâre more on each otherâs side. Weâre more aware of the otherâs needs, wants, concerns, and mindful to take those into considerationâ and just sharing more about our experiences in the moment, under the sudden realization that weâre both in this together, and wouldnât it be nice if it were a collaboration?â
2018:
They've worked together for 25 years but Gillian Anderson wants to make one thing clear: David Duchovny does NOT feature in her Ex Files.
While on screen their relationship left viewers wondering whether they would ever hook up romantically, Gillian says that off camera they were never very close.
In fact, she goes so far as to admit: "I don't know much about David Duchovny. If you asked me 10 things about him I'd probably get nine of them wrong."
...But now Gillian sets the record straight, saying: "We were never close. It's true we spent more time together than we have in any other relationship but it doesn't mean we were close.
"Very often when you're working long hours you may have a chit-chat between scenes but you're not really standing around talking about personal lives.
"And very often you don't have meals either at work or outside of work together because you're in each other's company all the time.
"So I actually don't know very much about David Duchovny, but we appreciate and respect each other."
2021:
Stella made a new friend today.
2023:
A huge congratulations to my old friend @davidduchovny on the world premiere of his film Bucky F***ing Dent @tribeca which he wrote, directed and stars in! A massive accomplishment and canât wait to see it. (ps Iâd say some of your prior writer / director gigs with me went pretty well and this was all just yesterday, right? đ) #Tribeca2023
2024:
Awww Double D Iâm so sorry. He was your guy. RIP Brick Duchovny
A comment from David, 2024:
"My former X-Files costar Gillian Anderson and I are really good friends. ...When you share a seminal kind of experience in your life-- the huge success we had with that show-- only we know what it's like to be in the center of that. It's almost like being in the same family...."
Last but not least:
"Looking forward to revealing some shared memories and new thoughts with my old friend.
Thank you @gilliana for joining me on this weekâs episode of #FailBetter"

to the ghost of henry peglar, congrats on writing your poem down 177 years ago!!!
to the actual academic scholars who have studied the pages before me....
so I took the royal museum greenwich's scan of the poem page (which is available online hereeee) and screwed around with its light levels in photoshop until henry's script was darkened enough to see more clearly. then I digitally traced over the darkened letters as best as I could, while also trying to discern his handwriting, and type up how I was reading it & this process took me about a week to get done between like... living my regular day to day life lmao.......
so when it WAS done, the final isabel acheronist peglar papers ["the open C"] transcript seemed a bit different than how I remembered the readily available russell potter transcript going ? (the poem is on the last two pages of that pdf for those of you who don't spend a billion hours a week looking at it btw)
it felt like I was getting more/different information out of it, compared to the potter transcript, which was kind of stressing me out honestly. so THEN I compared mine with barry cornwall's original poem and found more words that matched up? particularly in the second and third stanzas?
so!!!!! almost two hundred years later here's what I've landed on:
April 21 1847 the C the C the open ) ( it grew so fresh the Ever free the Ever free the Ever free without it without it covered it will Run to Earth above Re gions Round I love the C I love the C when I whare & I wish to be with and and silence whare Never go if a sailor should a Come and Make the meek What matter what matter Come Ride Or Sleep there was shores white and of red morn at the noisy hours knew I was ever near I was Born the [...] in felt Unto the Maid the wale the young dolphin ...... yet thes back of gold the Call of gods When I was on Old England Shore I like the young C more and more oftentimes time flew to a sweltering place like a bird thats seeks it mother Case and ware she was bird oft to me for have I loved a young and Hopen C
so then after going thru All Of That, I wanted to have a version of the original poem with parts that Henry did remember clearly highlighted for comparison purposes:
I know it's a popular theory that Henry was writing a dirty parody of the original poem? which if true, is funny as hell. me when i have to write cheeky victorian porn before i die.
But (serious voice) something about that hadn't ever seemed exactly right to me... IN MY HEART it seems more realistic that around 1847 he (and also by extension, the whole surviving expedition crew) were starting to experience confusion / brain fog symptoms from being ummmm quite physically unwell. the lead poisoning/scurvy combo would have severe effects on the brain's ability to function properly, and I started to wonder if Henry was trying to test his memory somehow? So he picked a widely known and popular Victorian era poem about being a sailor to see how much he could recall??? and he then got a little whimsical with it, and wrote in his own words to fill in the portions he couldn't fully recall, because it's his own diary and likely didn't expect anyone else to ever read it, much less have it turn into ONE of TWO surviving sources about the expedition?????
like... idk... this is probably the work of someone in the exact moment as they were starting to realize how bad things were, and then was trying to cope by using poetry. and That hurts my feelings enough as it is, but going through it was also just a very weird and haunting experience....... like, I can recognize all these tiny details in this dead guy's script and handwriting now. and to read his own account of his life in his own words, what stood out to him and what he recalled, what he wanted people in the future to know about him? insane. it literally felt like i was getting haunted by him for no reason. on top of knowing that Someone (#teamarmitage) loved this guy enough to keep his memory protected and safe, even though They Were So Totally Fucked And Going To Die There, unknowing if they'd ever be found again........
SIGHING + SIGHING + SIGHING + SIGHING + CRYING A BIT HONESTLY
anyways thanks for reading this all. I don't think that this is revolutionary franklin expedition news by any means, and idk if there's a better different transcript somewhere that i've not found that already covers all this? but it's consumed a lot of my life lately lol and i wanted to share. because its the anniversary of henry writing it, and it felt...... important....? đ....????
#đ#peglar#this is my crazy person post i wanted to make two weeks ago#i really did do my best to follow his hand btw but let's all read this expecting a few mistakes#franklin expedition#peglar papers

I find the military part kinda funny because I'm technically a navy brat (US military, my dad became a vet after I was born), and I'm just imagining a person working at a navy shipyard noticing an Oceanide just chillin near some of the ships, and just being very confused.
(Shipyards are pretty cool tho, I got to see the Queen Elizabeth ship once a few years back at the one my dad works at, couldn't take a picture tho)
Another thing I can think of is people out on fishing boats just getting followed by the Oceanides. If any of you guys know who .sauce.90 is you know what I mean with it. Listening to them sing, having random things thrown aboard your ship and all sorts.
But on the idea of the military all I can think is a few guy who is pealing barnacles and Zebra mussels off a ship for maintenance and there's just a pod of Oceanides waiting for the scraps to be dropped. And most tof the people are aware of them becuase I like the idea that people have been studying them for a good decade now. But every now and then you will get someone who has never seen them before and just goes. "That's a weird looking Dolphin"
I haven't ever Been to a ship yard. Sadly don't get to the beach often but want to try and do a trip with my little cousin to take her to the rockpools. Sadly I'm a country kid haha which is funny considering I'm write Marine life based fanfic. Spend quite a bit on books after the first few chapters to try and help me with it.
But now to some of the funny scenarios that have definitely happened.
- Fisherman pulling up an Oceanide and not knowing what to do.
- Navy ships having to shoo the Oceanides off becuase they can and will jump up onto them with enough momentum, (mainly the winged ones) to sun-bake.
- Shark scares with Oceanides
- over enthusiastic mers trying to climb inside of shark diving cages.
- many videos of Mers slapping dolphins with their tails.
- one time a guy fell off a ship and got caught by a mer. They were both rather stunned. (Cough cough. Noah meeting Mirage. Cough. Cough)

Hello Neil, this might end up getting lost in the sea of 88,000 asks in your inbox right now, but in case it doesn't, I have a quick Good Omens question. We know that Aziraphale loves exploring certain senses, especially involving food, so naturally, one of the best ways to spend time with him is to ask him out to lunch (which Crowley does often). That said, you never really see Crowley eating anything. Does he enjoy just watching Aziraphale eat happily?
Also thank you and Terry so much for this book/show. In a strange way, it has helped me understand myself better, and it's brought light into a rather dim and confusing time in my life. It's funny how this book, written a few months before I was even born, could go unnoticed by me until the exact time in my life that it would have the greatest impact. I'm just really grateful. The show is impeccable and you can tell how deeply loved it is by you and everyone else who made it. It stands out like a radiant gemstone. Alright that's enough gushing, I really just want to know if Crowley even likes eating or if he just likes watching Aziraphale enjoy himself.
That's definitely a question. Perhaps it will be answered in future episodes. Perhaps not.

ahh imagine the bachelors when youâre pregnant talking to your belly to get the baby to calm down at night. like the baby likes to keep you awake at night by kicking you directly in the ribs and the only thing that works is your husbands voice.
I think shane would feel super awkward at first since hes not much of a talker anyway, but it becomes a cherished nightly routine for him in the last few weeks of your pregnancy âhello, papa shane reporting for duty, its time to chill out so your mother can get some sleepâ and tell it chicken stories, elliott would read poetry and shakesphere, Alex would probably talk sports to it.
I would LOVE to hear your headcanons
Deadass sleeping while pregnant is so hard, and when the tiny child your growing rolls theyâre whole body while your trying to sleep? It feels so weird đ also listen I know Skyrim isnât in Stardew but I love it and I know Sebastian would also, lemme have this lmao
The bachelors talking to your baby bump to calm down your unborn child so you can sleep
Harvey:
Probably a bit nervous at first because he isnât sure what to say
But when your having issues sleeping because your unborn child keeps kicking you as hard as they can he agrees to give it a shot
Gently lays his head on your bump
âHey there little one, your moms out here trying her best to grow you and she needs to sleep to do that, think you might be able to settle down a bit?â
Is surprised when his voice seems to calm the unborn child down
Very quickly becomes his favorite part of the nightly routine
âWell hello in there tiny one, thank you for tuning into the nightly talk show. Today weâre gonna learn about you! Thatâs right, tonightâs broadcast is all about your growthâ
Your giggling at his little radio show impersonation
Alex:
Ya know those TikTok videos of people doing little handshakes with their wifeâs pregnant bellies and then when the babyâs born? Heâs doing that, just wanted to add in that tid bit lol
He probably noticed you were having issues sleeping and he could see all the wild movements from the outside
Leans down and starts talking to the bump
âHey kiddo, I know your doing your own thing in there but momma needs to sleep, whatcha need?â
When you tell him the baby calmed down after hearing his voice heâs thrilled
Will 100% explain the rules of gridby in depth to your unborn child
âOkay so if you wanna grow up big and strong like your daddy, your gonna have to have proper nutrition, lucky for you I have years experienceâ
Spends almost every night at bedtime telling your unborn child all about the farm and gridby and of-course rusty the dog
Sam:
Mans been talking to your baby way before they could hear or acknowledge him
Heâs just so excited
âHey little guy, mommyâs trying to sleep so we gotta calm down, I know you wanna shred but once your out Iâll teach ya to skateboardâ
Definitely goes over skateboarding safety with your unborn child
âSam heâs not even born yetâ
âOkay but heâs gotta know how to grind the pipe baby, itâs a great skillâ
100% also going to blow a raspberry on your bump to startle the baby cause itâs funny
Shane:
Dude definitely chats with your baby bump all the time
Especially when your cuddling so mostly at night when yâall are going to bed
Probably the reason the infant canât stop kicking you without hearing from daddy first
âHey kiddo, youâll never guess what kinda antics the chickens got up to today, I canât wait to introduce you to Charlieâ
Definitely brought Charlie in the house once and put him on your bump
âHey kiddo, this is Charlie, heâs my favorite chicken but donât tell the others thatâ
You gently pat Charlieâs head while he looks very confused about the situati
Sebastian:
Mans fully prepared to teach your kid all about video games when Theyer old enough
But when they wonât stop kicking you at night unless he talks to them? Now they get to learn early
âSo in Skyrim right? Thereâs a whole character builder and you get to pick what race you want to be, I always go for dark elf personally but you can be whatever you wantâ
Itâs like two hours later, your asleep and heâs still going
âSo when you get to white run you have to find the jarl and tell him about the dragons attacking helgen so heâll send troops to riverwood and then thereâs a whole side mission to go on to get the dragon stone and-â
Notices your soft snoring and chuckles to himself silently
âOkay kiddo, weâll pick this up again tomorrow night, good night my little tadpole, love youâ
Presses a little kiss to your bump before going to sleep
Elliott:
This mans been reading poems and storyâs to your bump since he learned that babyâs can hear and recognize voices
Itâs a nice little nightly routine, after baths and pjs and whatever snack your craving you both settle in and he grabs a book
Tonightâs book selection is the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe
âAlright little one, itâs story timeâ
Cozyâs up with his head on your bump
âOnce upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered weak and weary over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten loreâ
Loves knowing he can sooth the baby even before Theyâre born yet
Also loves knowing he can provide a bit more comfort to you as you grow them

What Tai Sui is and Why Everyone Should Read It
So if you follow me, over the past couple weeks, you've probably noticed me obsessively screenshotting and posting about a book called Tai Sui. And now that I've finished it, I'd like to try and convince y'all to give it a chance.
What Is Tai Sui?
Tai Sui is a chinese web novelâa relatively unpopular work by the very popular author Priest (author of Guardian and Sha Po Lang, among others). Unlike a lot of the most popular web novels on tumblr, it's not a danmei. It's in fact rather important to the plot and themes that there is almost entirely no romance, but I promise you, it is absolutely worth it regardless.
What is Tai Sui About?
Tai Sui is a steampunk xianxia cultivation story. For those unfamiliar with xianxia and cultivation, this is a particular genre of Chinese historical fantasy.
The official summary of Tai Sui reads as follows:
âIf I had a choice, I would only want to be a little insect in the mundane dust, born in confusion, dying in mediocrity, never seeing the light of day beneath the fog of Jinping City.
Better than taking this wrong road to heaven.â
You may have noticed that this summary is not in fact really a summary. It gives you a glimpse into the story's themes, mood, and destination, but it doesn't exactly tell you what happens in it.
That's because Tai Sui is one of those works that's incredibly hard to summarize. The story is incredibly wide in scope and changes massively over its course, to the point that any summary that encapsulates the whole thing is going to feel like a spoiler. However, I can try my best to add a little detail without giving too much away.
Tai Sui is the story of Xi Pingâan obnoxious, trouble-making rich boy with no interest in cultivationâwho gets unwittingly involved in a plot to resurrect the "evil god" Tai Sui. This plot pulls him into the cultivation world against his will and, over time, threatens to rewrite everything he is.
Tai Sui is the end of immortality.
Why Should You Read Tai Sui?
Tai Sui is one of the most compelling stories I have ever read. It is a love letter to the power and promise of the whole world and its many mundane people. It also has some of the best worldbuilding I have ever seen.
Tai Sui is written in omniscient perspective, and though Xi Ping is very much the main character, as the story progresses, we spend more and more time alongside characters that aren't him. By the time the novel ends, his entire continent is at stake, and we the audience know that continent and its troubles inside and out from countless angles. Everyone from the immortal demigods of the cultivation world to the most wretched, miserable paupers is given a grand sense of emphasis.
Tai Sui is a deconstruction of the cultivation genre. It establishes a magic/cultivation system and its history, lets the main character live in that system for a while, and then dives deep into that system's depths. It looks at the cultivation genre, at the idea of people who leave behind their status as mortals for greater things, and asks "How does this really work?" and "Is this how the world should be?"
Tai Sui is the story of countless people who were never supposed to be powerful coming together to make the world a better place. It's well written (and very well translated), exciting, heartbreaking, and incredibly beautiful. It's also funny as hell.
I cannot recommend this story enough.
Warnings/Caveats
As I said before, Tai Sui is a deconstruction of the cultivation genre. If you're unfamiliar with this genre, while the book is certainly readable, you are going to be thrown head first into the deep end with the tropes and terminology at play. It's absolutely worth the learning curve, but it will be kind of a lot. Maybe do some light googling about what a cultivator is before you pick it up. (Or just ask a fan. I think most of us would happily explain anything that would win a new reader).
There are portrayals of people/cultures in Tai Sui that are heavily inspired by minority cultures in real-world China, and some of these portrayals play into pretty harmful stereotypes. It's not SPL "Barbarian" or TGCF Banyue levels of racist, but it's something to be aware of and careful about. I'd really recommend reading from the perspectives of those from the cultures in question (including but not limited to the post I linked) for more about the issues I'm talking about.
Tai Sui's English translation is 930,000 words long. I believe this is a strength, since its length is what allows it such an incredible scope. It is also a fucking daunting commitment, and I acknowledge that.
Finally, while Tai Sui doesn't need too many trigger warnings, it does contain some pretty viscerally upsetting depictions of inequality and mistreatment, as well as a few instances of violence toward children. You can't uplift without first seeing what the people need uplifting from, and hooboy. They need it.
There's also some scenes that are technically rather violent, but the goriness is not presented as gore, if that makes sense. It never feels intensely or overly violent in the way some fantasy novels do.
Links
If all my gushing and propagandizing has convinced you to give it a try, you can find the original Chinese version (where you can buy chapters to support the author) on JJWXC.
The complete English translation is free on the website of E. Danglars, who does a truly incredible job with the translating.
Happy reading :).
#my desperate shot at propagandizing now that my followers have sat through months of on and off obsessive tai sui posting#besties it is genuinely so good#it made me cry. and that is a fcking feat.#tai sui#priest#cnovel#webnovel#long post#I'm not putting a readmore on this bc I want to force y'all to look at it#sorry#book rec#invasion of the frogs

Welcome to another round of W2 Tells You What You Should See, where W2 (me) tries to sell you (you) on something you should be watching. Today's choice: 性çćŻșć°ćżæžž/White Cat Legend.
White Cat Legend is the 2024 live-action adaptation of a funny historical manhua about a country bumpkin who winds up working with a bunch of mystery-solving officials led by a beautiful boss whose tragic past means no one can know he's also a kitty.
This is one of those cases where television comes in to adapt something that has both unfilmable elements and a very non-cinematic storyline that hasn't even been finished yet, and as such mostly just takes the characters and the basic conceit, then creates an entire vaguely nonsensical 36-episode AU fanfic of it. To call this show tonally inconsistent would be an insult to shows that are only merely tonally inconsistent. It is full-on tonal whiplash, the kind you should go see a doctor about. This shit is all over the place. It has arcs and situations that are genuinely emotionally moving, and then smash cut! to wacky nonsense happening with the B-plot. It does not know if it wants to tell a Serious Story or just have bonkers antics, and it will deal with this indecision by doing both at once.
So if you're in the mood for something fun with charming characters that won't tax your brain parts, let me give you five reasons this could be exactly the junk food you're looking for.
1. Just a family of all boys
If you're looking for a show rife with female characters, go watch Legend of Fei or Story of Yanxi Palace. Over here, it's Boys' Night Out.
The show is set in the Court of Judicial Review, which solves crimes. The boy in charge of all of them is Li Bing, who is secretly also a cat for reasons he doesn't understand. He picks up naive yokel and total sweeheart Chen Shi and brings him back to work with the Court's current occupants: a sad-eyed scribe with catastrophically bad luck, a former soldier who wishes he'd been born recently enough to be into Crossfit, a generic "foreigner" whose superpowers are spending his parents' money and pronouncing things badly, and the 8th-century Chinese equivalent of a mediocre white man.
And I'm going to tell you right now, up front, above the cut, that these boys' character interactions are the #1 reason to watch this show. You watch it because you like to see them bounce off one another like the unsupervised toddlers they are. They all love and care for one another in the best ways they know how, which sometimes aren't very effective, but darn it, they're trying!
What's especially cute is how they're so touchy with one another -- and not in any kind of sexual or creepy way, but in a sincerely affectionate bro way. There's lots of hugging and supportive arms around waists. Sometimes when they get scared, they hold hands. They grip one another when walking across unsteady ground or climbing over walls to break into yet another house. There's never any gay panic or no-homo reassurances. It hits that sweet spot right between brothers and boyfriends, where you can read their interactions as fraternal and/or romantic as you like (see below).
I mean, who needs a plot when you have half a dozen charming boys canonically working, eating, and sleeping side by side? That, my friends, is quality television.
2. Jam-packed with goofball nonsense
White Cat Legend is a show that will make you laugh out loud, and mostly even on purpose.
About 2/3 of this show is silly, and the other 1/3 is trying so hard to be emotionally resonant. But you know what? Screw emotional resonance for the moment -- let's embrace the antics!
There's a lot of silliness happening even at the production level. The show also starts out doing some very cute visual things, like breaking shots into multiple "panels" that give everything a real comic feel. It's especially effective during fight scenes and other visually confusing setups. ...And then about 1/4 of the way in, it forgets about this gimmick and stops almost completely. This is a shame, because I liked it! I liked that VFX tomfoolery that paid homage to the story's webcomic roots! (Also, someone behind the camera clearly got told that the way to make a scene more visually interesting is to slowly pan in during every shot. Once you notice it, you can't unsee it.)
The main villain is ... well, he's a lot. He's just a whole lot. I'd call him Evil Garfield, except Garfield is already kind of Evil Garfield, so this guy's Eviler Garfield. He's not chewing the scenery, but is instead treating it like a cat with a vendetta against some drapes. He's just hilariously over the top at all times. It starts out vaguely entertaining, then gets annoying, then wraps right back around to entertaining again.
Also, his wig is terrible -- and it's not even the worst wig in the show! White Cat Legend has decided that the way you style foreigner NPCs is just to jam unbrushed women's wigs on extras' heads and call it a day. There are indeed a lot of foreigners in the show, and the show has chosen to handle them by assuming everything beyond the borders of 6th-century Chinese territory is a great undifferentiated vaguely Persian-flavored mass. Who's that shady-looking guy? Oh, he's Foreign. What country is he from? A Foreign one. What language does he speak? You know, Foreign.
You are not ready for the score. This is a show that spent its entire musical budget on a handful of middling pop songs, realized it still needed ~40 minutes of music to put in each episode, and decided that it could just pull things at semi-random from whatever the Chinese television equivalent of the YouTube royalty-free sound library is. The result is some laugh-out-loud hilarious soundtracking. Do you know why they usually pay people to do things like score television shows? It's because when you don't, it sounds like this.
True story: During one antics-filled scene, I frowned, listened a second, and asked my wife, "Is that ... 'Deck the Halls'?" It was!
The mysteries are -- and I'm quoting myself here -- the celery that gets the cute boy peanut butter to your mouth. Not only can you, the viewer, not solve them, I don't actually remember what most of the resolutions were. Hell, I barely remember what most of the actual setups were. The individual storylines are mostly unimportant pieces of fluff that kinda sorta tie into the big mystery of the show: Why is that boy a kitty? ...And if you think you're going to be satisfied by the resolution to that one, honestly, you haven't been paying attention to what I've been saying in this post.
Basing this on absolutely nothing but vibes, here is my guess: The original vision for this series was as an ongoing thing, something that might hew a little closer to the comic storyline in later seasons. At some point in the production, the decision got made that there would be no further seasons made. The resulting drama is something that's technically self-contained, sure, but has a lot of little lingering weirdnesses that look like foreshadowing.
As just one example, the way they frame and shoot the empress is bizarre, and she might as well have a big SHE'S GOING TO TURN OUT TO BE EVIL neon sign above her head. ...Except that, no, she's fine! Perfectly fine, mostly normal empress, mostly normal levels of evil, nothing to see here. She is, however, evil as heck in the source material (and that's not a spoiler, she's a little pink thing who's clearly sinister all the way from the get-go), and I have to wonder if the showrunners weren't planning some future heel-turn villain arc for her. Well, we'll never know now, so whatever you choose to believe, the show won't contradict you on it!
Your reaction to all of this will 100% depend on how charitable you are feeling toward staring down a firehose of (mostly) intentionally slapdash shenanigans. If you go into this demanding coherence and substance, you will wind up disappointed. If you go into it expecting nothing more than a fluffy good time, you'll probably enjoy yourself tremendously -- and you'll maybe even be moved by the rare times it does work out to being something of substance! Such as...
3. We are never ever getting back together
The first thing you can tell about Qiu Qingzhi and Li Bing is that they are as divorced as two dudes in a c-drama can be. They aren't just a little divorced. They are nuclear divorced.
Except -- and this is the juicy part -- they obviously still work really well together. If it's just the two of them head-to-head, they will be assholes to one another with no mercy. If circumstances change and they have a shared target, God help that shared target.
The unspoilery version of their backstory goes like this: They were adorable little tween besties who grew up into adorable little teen besties, until Qiu Qingzhi went off to join the army and came back a real cold bitch, and Li Bing has no idea why. Now the two of them control state agencies that should work together but actually wind up competing more often than not (think the FBI and the CIA), a competition not helped by how the Jinwu Guards (Qiu Qingzhi's group) are actual professional soldiers in very nice armor, while the Court of Judicial Review is, well, [gestures to points 1 and 2].
And yeah, baby, this right here is The Ship.
I spent a nonzero amount of time while watching this series laughing out loud because Wei Zheming's face is just too beautiful to be believed. With his sculpted jaw and his perfectly practiced looks of disdain, his Qiu Qingzhi looks like a damn Disney prince. His face could not be more perfect if you'd assigned a team of animators to draw it. This actor is the reason I found this show in the first place -- he was so beautiful in Word of Honor that I found myself wondering what else he might be getting up to. Turns out, he is again being a smug bitch and capturing the heart of a doe-eyed younger man.
Don't let me oversell how much these two are together in the show, because they're not. Qiu Qingzhi is not part of the main crew, so he's not in most of the episodes. Most of his screentime comes in flashbacks during the last story arc, to a time in his past when Li Bing wasn't even around. But when they're together, oh, the sparks do fly.
I think it helps that the actors seem to have understood the ship, even if in that video, Ding Yuxi (Li Bing's actor) is trying so hard to do the Please Do Not Cancel Us dance of plausible deniability. I honestly don't even think this is the show's doing; after all, the source material (see the section near the end) is not BL in the slightest. I'd believe the show meant to create a normal platonic bro-relationship between these two. I'd even believe that it thinks it succeeded.
Still, if you're not the biggest fan of Lovers To Enemies? That's fine! Here's the relationship that's the real core of the show:
4. Here comes a special boy
All the boys of the family of all boys are special and wonderful, but truly, Chen Shi is the specialest and wonderfulest of them all.
He is your everyman character, the little country bumpkin overwhelmed by all the big-city dealings he's stumbled into. With his cute little twang and his natural inclination to trust everyone he meets, he's the perfect cinnamon roll, too good, too pure. I want to pinch his angelic little cheeks.
Fun fact: I have been informed by someone who speaks with the same dialect he does that said dialect is very sweary, which brings to mind the wonderful image of Chen Shi just casually and sweetly dropping f-bombs while everyone else stares in shock.
In a show where the characters are way more important than the plot, having a good POV character is key. Your audience lives or dies entirely on how much they want to see that POV character put into situations. To me, Chen Shi is a rousing success at this. He's not stupid! He's just extremely sheltered and on his own for the first time in his ife. He's the bravest little toaster, the goodest boy who's not going to let the little things stop him -- like, say, illiteracy, or a lack of familiarity with city living, or an inability to give any substantial details about the brother he's looking for beyond 'he looks just like me.' That's why he's got his friends help him out!
You better believe that when it comes time to save the day, Chen Shi will do it through the power of how everyone loves him.
And he and the kitty are ... romance? Kind of romance? Romance-adjacent? I could burn even more wordcount explaining the dynamic, but @uovoc has already said it best:
cdrama Li Bing is like: I've taken an inexplicable liking to this simple country boy so I'm going to entrust him with my life's greatest secret because I'm whimsical like that. And cdrama Chen Shi is like: this man is the most beautiful cat I've ever seen.
No matter how romantically you slice it, it's a dynamic I absolutely love: where a guy weighed down by his own past meets another guy who could not care less about that. Chen Shi is Li Bing's chance to figure out who Li Bing is, without the burdens of his family history, connections to the court, job, status, or any of the other things everyone else sees when they look at him. Chen Shi looks at Li Bing and sees Li Bing, whiskers and all.
I mean, Chen Shi makes Li Bing an entire office full of human-sized cat toys. If that's not love, I don't know what is.
And if you're not into besties-to-worsties or the pure and purrfect love between a man and his cat who is also a man? That's okay! I've helpfully made a chart to demonstrate the many flavors of exciting relationship dynamics White Cat Legend makes available to you:
Imagine the possibilities! Make your own fun! And then get over to AO3 and share it with the rest of the class! The White Cat Legend tag is sparsely populated and mostly not in English, and that's a shame, because there's so much smooching potential.
5. Not as dumb as it looks
Wow, that's kind of a backhanded compliment, isn't it? Well, no, not actually. You saw my earlier points about what a bag of goofs this show is. What's easy to miss, though, is how unexpectedly clever a whole lot of its dumbassery is.
A lot of this, I'm going to chalk up to the actors, who on the whole turn in some comedic performances way better than they have any right to be. That's the thing about comedy: to do stupid well, you have to be smart. They're all very funny, and they've got some great chemistry in combinations and permutations. It's a testament to their abilities that you can take any two of them, give them a scene together, and get something worth watching out of it.
Of course most of this is the main boys, but the major supporting characters largely have the same clever sense of comedic timing. Their actors know they're not performing some great work of literature, so they've decided to have some fun with it. I'm not going to praise anyone's performance here as particularly great, but by and large, the recurring cast members are doing solid work.
The aforementioned goofball nonsense also does a fair job of distracting from how creative the show can be. For example, the fact that many of the fights and chases are comedic makes it easy to miss how the fight choreography is often really tight. I don't think the show is trying to hide its moments of cleverness, so much as it's just grabbing them where it can without drawing attention to them.
I know a lot of people gave up on this show only a few episodes in, and I suspect I know why. It's not even that it just takes a while to find its footing -- it never quite finds its footing, on account of being such a patchwork creation. It's an adaptation of an incomplete story, forced to make changes because of budgetary limitations, promising things it's not allowed to deliver on, and further cut down between filming and release. That's what you call having the deck stacked against you. The fact that the final product is not only watchable but downright enjoyable is a testament to how the production got some critical fundamentals right.
In short, it's not just dumb fun -- though it is a lot of dumb fun. But it's dumb fun with just enough to sink your teeth into that it eventually becomes a compelling ratio. I don't blame the people who bailed, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
bonus: It comes in other flavors!
If you like the series and you want more, you're in luck! There's a whole ongoing comic and animated series!
The comic is the original version of the story: a tall vertical webcomic with a cute, distinctive style. It's still being published, and it's very different from the drama. There's a great ongoing translation project at @whitecatlegend, so if your Mandarin skills are as bad as mine (or worse!), you can follow along in English as well!
The donghua is a pretty close adaptation of several parts of the comic. You can find the whole first season at this YouTube playlist, though please note that the playlist is out of order, so you don't accidentally start with episode 8. The translation is ... eh, it's a little rough in places, to put it charitably, but it also makes some charming localization decisions, so I'm all for it. Oh, and here's the second season! It's even prettier and better-translated than the first!
Also, hey, furries? Li Bing's a perma-kitty in both of those versions of the story, so have fun with that.
The drama's casting is spot-on. Whoever picked these boys went out of their way to keep the original artistic vibe as much as possible, to the point where if you'd told me the drama had come first and then someone had drawn a comic starting from the actors' likenesses, I would've believed you.
(And yes, if you've read it, Qiu Qingzhi and Lai Zhongshu aren't technically Qiu Shenji and Lai Junchen, but I'm declaring them close enough for the purposes of this demonstration.)
I have heard that some fans of the comic are unhappy about the live-action adaptation, and I get that, I do -- they are not the same thing. There are plenty of things the drama leaves out where, okay, I understand why that person/event/factor got cut, but at the same time, dammit. In the end, I like them both as very different stories featuring the same(-ish) characters. Still, the drama is definitely not one of those situations where you get to tune in to watch the same things you loved on the page, just in a different medium. The delightfully accurate casting is about where the similarities end. Everything beyond that is its own legend.
Kitty.
Here, kitty, kitty?
The drama's an iQiyi exclusive, so that's where you'll get it.
It's a fun show, not a perfect show. It has some captivating elements and lots of promising nonsense worth thinking about. And like I said, it's a tiny-ass fandom -- a paltry 277 works on AO3, a mere 44 of which are in English. Somebody get in there and make some combination of those boys kiss!
Also, it is criminal that Kitty Li Bing has fabulous red eyeliner that Person Li Bing does not get to wear. Call makeup and fix that.

âLeona!! Thereâs my cute baby brother. Itâs so good to see you.â Farena smiles as bright as the sun, itâs blinding. He carries Cheka in his arms, and Cheka waves and squeals. âOjitan, we came to see you!!â âThatâs right, you havenât visited home in so long so we decided to come to you instead. Howâve you been, Leona? How is school? Have you made new friends? Anything fun happen recently?â
While writing this interaction, I tried to keep the dynamic of Mufasa and Scar and Simba and Scar in mind. The brothers themselves were often in opposition, but Scar often said phrases which could be easily misconstrued as playful or caring in the eyes of a child like Simba. I wanted to get similar vibes down for Leona interacting with Falena and Cheka!
Not me making Falena basically drop an Uncle Iroh line--
Family means Nobody is Left Behind or Forgotten.
The second Falena and Cheka paraded into his room, Leona bolted up from the bed. Every hair on his tail stood on end, his eardrums ringing, as his senses rushed to process the nightmare playing out before him: his brother and nephew announcing their arrival. All sunshine, and too much of it.
Leona burrowed back under his blankets and buried his face in a pillow. Itâs just a bad dream, he told himself. Theyâll go away if you ignore them for long enough.
âLeona! Are you still taking a cat nap? Rise and shine, baby bro!!â He felt a hand on his back. Meant to be encouraging, he presumed.
âWho exactlyâs your âbaby broâ here?â Leona grumbled, wrapping the covers even more tightly around himself. He despised itâthe reminder of being second born, and how Falena said it with such ignorant glee.
There was a soft laugh, and the hand on his back retreated. âOld habits die hard. Iâm sorry, I know youâre a man nowâbut to me, youâve always been my precious younger brother. Please, wonât you see us?â
A mass came upon his mattress, excited bouncing causing the springs to creak. âWake up, Ojitan!! Itâs time to get up and play with me and Papa!! You promised to show me how to play magift, remember?â
Dread immediately set into Leona. If he didnât move soon, Cheka would be jumping on his belly instead of on his bed.
Defeated, Leona irritably dragged himself up, wearing his blanket like it was a cloak. It fell low, hooding messy bangs and shading his eyes. Bright green and discerning against the shadows.
âOjitanâs up!! I did it, Papa, I did it!!â Cheka cheered. He spun in a circle, pumping his tiny fists.
His father scooped him up with a hearty laugh. âAttaâ boy! You got your uncle good!â
âIf youâll pardon the interruption to your merriment,â Leona cut in with a drawl, âto what do I owe this pleasure? Itâs not every day when the King of the Sunset Savanna deigns to walk among the masses.â
Falenaâs cheer faltered. His siblingâs biting sarcasm cut deep, even after all these years of growing accustomed to it. âYou donât need to be so formal with me, Leona,â he advised patiently. âWeâre family.â
âFine.â Leona crossed his arms. He didnât speak the counter that was on his mind: but family doesnât have to like each other. âWhere are your bodyguards? Itâs dangerous for high profile people to roam the campus unattended, especially today, when the NRC gates are open to outsiders.â
âWe have our ways of slipping away from them. Donât we, champ?â Falena ruffled his sonâs hair, and Cheka beamed a little too proudly.
⊠So thatâs where the furball learned it from. He shouldnât have been surprised.
âA king and a prince ditching their royal babysitters in favor of singing and dancing the day away⊠The people would be simply beside themselves if they knew,â Leona simpered. (A smirk tugged at the corner of hjs mouth at the thought of the old coot Kifajiâs panic at losing sight of his sovereign.)
âNo one in the world would rather tend to royal duties than spend time with his family. I certainly wouldnât.â
Leona scowled.
âOjitan looks kinda scary.â
âHeâs just making a funny face at you,â Falena reassured his son.
âOooh, I get it!! I can make a funny face too!! Watch me!!â Hooking his index fingers, Cheka pried the sides of his mouth and wiggled his tongue. âBlegh!!â
âReal charming there, kid,â Leona said dryly.
âThanks!!â The reply was earnest, not understanding one bit of the edge to Leonaâs voice.
Falena smiled warmly at his son. "⊠Cheka, I have an idea. Why donât you run along and prepare the magift equipment to play a round? You can get some help and form teams by asking the nice young men around Savanaclaw.â
âThat sounds really fun!! But Papa⊠what about you and Ojitan?â
Falena gently set Cheka down. A hand found its way into the lion cubâs mane, ruffling it once more. âYour uncle and I will be out in a moment to join you. We need to talk about something important first.â
It was good enough of an answer for Cheka.
âOkay!! Iâll do a good job, promise!! Weâll have the most funnest magift game ever!â
âThatâs my boy.â
Cheka took of racing out and down the hallway. His eager, high-pitched voice carries through the wide open spaces. Inquiries directed at passing students, asking if they wanted to play, or if they knew where the right gear was.
Falena waited for the noise to subsideâfor Cheka for be out of earshotâbefore he met Leonaâs gaze again. His younger brotherâs expression was sullen, gleaming eyes almost sunken into the darkness of his blanket hood.
âSo kind of you to grant me a private audience, your majesty.â
Falena did not back away. He glanced at the unoccupied space on Leonaâs bed.
âMay I?â
âBy all means. Itâs not like you didnât already barge in unannounced. Whatâs the use in denying you a seat?â
â⊠Thank you.â
Falena sat gingerly for a man of his size, careful to not disturb his brother. The bed frame creaked, now bearing the weight of two fully grown Kingscholars. A shared family legacy between them.
â⊠I know if was rude of us to surprise you like that. I apologize. I couldnât help it. I wanted to see how youâd been doing at school.â
âA text or a call would have been more than enough.â
âAh, but then youâd leave it on read or pretend the signal was bad and you were breaking up.â
Leona stared incredulously at his brother. Falena grinned like a cat that had gotten to the cream.
âI know most of your tricks by now.â
âOh, good. Iâll have to brainstorm new ones to outwit you.â
âA text or a call wouldnât have been enough anyway. I wanted to see the school that changed you for myself.â Falena gestured around them, at the blue sky waiting beyond the window. âAnd, of course, I wanted to see my changed brother for myself as well.â
âYouâre mistaken. I havenât changed at all. Iâm still as miserable of a wretch as I ever was.â
âI beg to differ. You visited home for the first time in forever on winter break. You even brought some friends with you to Catch the Tail.â
âWhatever it takes to placate you and Kifaji,â Leona snorted.
âI think youâre deflecting. Big brothers know these kinds of things. Itâs like my secret sense.â Placing his hands on the bed, Falena tilted his head back. His eyes were on the ceiling, but his words were directed at Leona. âYou always avoided coming home before. Never quite liked it. Now youâre making a little more of an effort of it, even if itâs difficult for you.â
âWhatever would give you that impression, brother dearest?â
âCome on, Leona. I donât have bugs for brains. I can tell when youâre uncomfortable or unhappy, or when you donât want to do something. Youâve always been the stubborn type.â
Leona cursed internally. The palace servants would have called it the kingâs sensitivityâbut to the younger brother, it was nothing more than an annoyance.
Falena chuckled, elbowing Leona. âSomething happened at school recently, didnât it? Something that made you reconsider.â
Leona held his tongue. There was so much to tell, and none of it he wanted to be told.
I hurt other students to get a chance to prove myself. I plotted a stampede to take out the leader of a rival dorm. I Overblotted.
I conspired with fresh meat to infiltrate and steal. I dusted an octopunkâs contracts. I put together a stage.
I got hauled off to a secret underwater research facility and experimented on. I fought ancient Phantoms. And I⊠thought about the past, the future... and my role in it.
I survived all of that. Iâm still here.
âA lot of things have happened,â Leona said vaguely. âThereâs nothing for you to get your tail in a twist over. School's uneventful. Itâs just me and my good chums livinâ it up.â
"Chums?" Falena's face brightened considerably. "Aw, so you have made friends after all! I'm so proud of you for finally opening up, Leona!"
He recoiled with disgust. "Hah?! Don't give me that 'power of friendship' bull crap, it sounds like something the Daikon Radish Sprout would quote from one of the shows he obsesses over."
"Don't be shy!! You've even got cute little nicknames for your buddies! I bet you stay up late into the night to talk about your hopes and dreams too."
"Hardly."
Falena laughed at the automatic, snappy response. Only he, the sunlight to Leona's shadows, could. "You're doing just fine. I'm glad."
"You're relieved that I won't disgrace the royal family."
Falena shook his head, letting red locks fall over his shoulders. "I was never angry or upset with you. I was sad because I was afraid you had lost your way in the dark. But you managed to find your way to the light again with the help of your friends. That's what I'm glad about."
Ever the brother's keeper, like a gnat to a wildebeest.
"Hmph. Despite what you say, you've yet to get out of my fur."
"As I've said, old habits die hard." Falena attempted at a chuckle, but it came out awkwardly. "... Say, Leona. Have you given some thought into what you'll do for your internship next year? Then there's your graduation...
"Things are changing so fast. It feels like just yesterday when father was still well, and we were still cubs wrestling in the savanna. Kifaji would tell us off, but we'd conspire to sneak off to explore the Elephant Graveyard anyway. You'd always beat me at chess, and Kifaji would beat you at your game. We'd dare each other to eat bugs from a pile, trying to find the one that tastes like chicken first.
"Still children, not yet king and prince, not yet shouldering the weight of our adult responsibilities. Now the older we get, the more and more we seem to drift apart, and the worse off father becomes."
"You're blabbering," Leona sighed, lowering the covers he had been cocooned in. His chocolate mane and lion ears made themselves known. "What's the point in reminiscing? We can never return to those days. Your eyes should be set on a future littered with prizes. You'll never seize them if you continue to fixate on the past."
"You're right." Falena smiled, looking properly at Leona still nestled in his sheets--but slowly inching out of them. "I've said this before, and I'll say it again. You're an intelligent young man, with a good head on your shoulders. You have skills and strengths that I could never dream of having."
"You're going to start on another one of your cooperation spiels, aren't you." Leona said it as a statement, not as a question.
"I hope you don't see it that way. No, I... I'd like to join hands with you again, brother." Falena offered an open hand, his entire being shining with hope. "Like we did in the past, this time for the future. Together, I firmly believe we can usher in a new era of peace and prosperity for the Sunset Savanna."
"What..."
Leona stared at the waiting hand like it was a bear trap with a tasty morsel. If he reached, those steel jaws would clamp around him, hurting him once more.
"What makes you think I'll accept the same speech you've thrown at me for years and years? It's the same song and dance."
"I know you, Leona. And I know that you must have had a change of heart, however small it may be. Here, at Night Raven College, you've become different."
Falena's fingers curled, and the hand retracted back to his lap. "You don't need to give me your answer now. Please, just consider it seriously. That would be enough for me."
"As always, you're endlessly optimistic."
"We balance each other out."
The sun had risen high in the sky, crowning another day. A fresh wave of heat pervaded the room.
Leona's blanket slipped to his waist, the material pooling at his legs. He emerged from the covers like a lion from its den.
"How fortunate," Leona purred, "killing two birds with one stone. A diplomatic meeting and a courtesy call rolled into one."
If only you were usually this efficient with handling your duties.
From down the hallway came the tmp, tmp tmp of footsteps. They grew progressively louder by the second, like a cheer swelling into an uproar. People coming closer, a crowd gathering.
A new game about to start.
âBut unfortunately for you, my most exalted elder brother FalenaâŠâ
Leona stood at last, casting off his blanket in one glorious motion. It fluttered to the ground, no longer needed to shelter the beastman from the world--nor the world from him.
âI donât play by your rules," Leona announced, his lips pulled back into a cocksure smirk.
BAM!!
At that moment, an out-of-breath Cheka came sprinting into the room, thrusting the door open. He was followed by a stampede of footsteps, hoots, and hollers--a whole pack of Savanaclaw students wielding brooms and a golden frisbee.
Through rosy cheeks, the cub declared, "Papa!! Ojitan!! We're ready!"
Chanting students echoed his sentiment.
"Perfect timing, furball." Leona languidly stepped off of his mattress, hands in his pockets. He was a king descending from his throne to be among his people.
He cast a glance at Falena, still seated on the bed, and felt his smirk widen. "I'm doing things my own way... and that includes wiping the floor with you in magical shift. Isn't that right, boys?"
The group broke out into rapturous barking. Stomping, clapping.
"Yeeeeah!! Let's body him, Leona-san!!"
"You could totally take him, dorm leader!!"
"Leona-senpai, fight, fight, fight!"
Oblivious Cheka, at the head of the group of absurdly burly young men, threw his arms up and squealed. "Everyone's so excited to play together!"
"Haha, you have such an enthusiastic group of supporters, Leona." Falena rose from the bed himself and turned to his brother. Sun and shadow, staring at each other in the face. "I would be honored to play a match with you. How about you and Savanaclaw on one team, and myself and the royal procession on the other team? We could ring up Kifaji to referee."
"What about me, Papa? What can I do?"
"Hmm... well, it'd be dangerous for a young one like you to play against older kids and adults. Maybe you could fetch water for the players?"
"Awww..." Cheka's ears flattened, his tail hanging in dismay. "But bringing water's not playing."
"Your dad's right, furball. Listen to him." Leona groaned, nudging the child. "You don't want to get caught up in the crossfires."
"Huh? Crossfires? There's no fire though."
"Oh, there is."
Leona's eyes, an immaculate shade of emerald circled by shadows, glinted with newfound promise and vigor.
This time, I'm settling the score... by my own rules.

Countdown Pt 2
Follow up to this thing I wrote yesterday
People always acted funny when they saw his timer. They usually reacted in two ways- either they tried to pretend that they didnât see it, or they said how sorry they were.Â
Thatâs not enough time.Â
Oh I wish you had more time.Â
Only a few days? Iâm sorry honey.Â
But Steve had never been upset about it. Sure, he only had less than a week with his soulmate, but that only meant that their time was more treasured. They understood that they had to make every second count.Â
Wasnât that a good thing?Â
âYouâll understand someday, Steven,â His mother had said quietly into her wine glass one night when it was just the two of them at home. She was sitting on the couch, flipping through their photo album idly, holding Steve hostage with stories about how good things used to be. How in love his parents were, once upon a time. How happy they used to be before the job, before the promotion, before the big house in Loch Nora.Â
(They really mean before they had him. Not that either of his parents will ever admit that)Â
âYouâll understand,â She repeated in a whisper, taking another long sip.Â
âWhat will I understand?â Steve replied. Usually he tried to stay as still and silent as possible on nights like these, did his best to pretend like he didnât exist, waiting for her to finally wave a hand and release him to his room. But this time he didnât get it.Â
âYouâll understand that this? This is a curse,â She spat out, holding up her right arm and showing him her timer. All zeroes. His motherâs soulmate had died when he was ten, but her timer had counted down. She had met him at some point in her life though. She knew him, but she hadnât lived a life with him. Whoever he was, he had died alone. Â
Steve had always wondered about that, always wanted to ask. If she knew who her soulmate was, why not be with them? If she had found that person, why not make every second count?Â
âItâs a curse,â His mother had said, continuing when Steve didnât say anything in response, finishing what was left in her glass, âEspecially yours. I remember the first time I saw your timer. It was right after you were born. I was holding you against me, you were so little then, so sweet, and I looked down, and I saw it. Five days. What kind of God would only give my baby five days? Not a good one,â
Steve wasnât exactly sure what kind of God was out there. If he was being fully honest, he wasnât sure he believed in God at all.Â
He believedâŠ.in the universe. He believed in something linking them all, something that knew them and wanted them to find the person that completed their lives. The Universe knew that Steve and his soulmate were strong enough to handle five days, four hours, and twenty two minutes. That unnamed unexplained universe knew that they would know what to do with that time.Â
Steve had plans for his five days, four hours, and twenty two minutes.Â
When he found that person, the first thing he was going to do was hold them for at least five of those minutes. Steve loved hugs, and his parents hated them, but his soulmate would love them too. He knew that for sure.Â
So a five minute hug, and then heâd ask where they wanted to go. The two of them would travel to wherever his soulmate wanted. Steve had the money, heâd been saving every single birthday and Christmas check he had gotten since he was nine. By now, it was more than enough for two tickets to anywhere in the world.Â
They would spend the whole plane ride talking and getting to know each other. They would laugh, probably a little too loudly, and annoy everyone else around them with how infatuated they were with each other.Â
Maybe theyâd go to Paris. Stroll through the city, eat pastries, stuff like that. Maybe they would end up in some remote part of the world where it felt like they were the only two people on the planet.
Maybe theyâd just stay in Hawkins. Hole up in his house, listen to records, swim in the pool, or lie in bed all day.Â
A hug, possibly a trip, and after that it was up to his soulmate. Steve wasnât going to monopolize their five days with just his ideas. He had a bunch of suggestions if they didnât know what they wanted, but those were the only two things he really cared about.Â
He didnât hug his soulmate when they finally laid eyes on each other. Steve didnât even realize his timer had started counting down.Â
He was too busy thinking about the broken bottle being held against his neck.Â
By the time he and Eddie both realized that their timers had started, they were already in the thick of things. Steve had seen it while Nancy was wrapping her sweater around his waist to try and stem some of the blood coming gushing out of him from the bat bites. He had put both hands in his hair just to try and give himself some other pain to ground with, and his timer caught his eye.Â
It was already on three days.Â
He had only met one new person in the last two days. One new person who always hid his timer under a leather cuff around his wrist.Â
Steve did go through with his plans, but it was a funhouse mirror version of them, twisted and wrong.Â
They did hug, but it wasnât something soft or intimate. Eddie had woken Steve up from a nightmare on their second to last day, and Steve had laid in his arms shaking for two of their final forty eight hours.Â
They did go on a trip of sorts, if stopping the apocalypse in an alternate dimension counted as a trip. They went, but they didnât stay together.Â
God, if Steve had a chance to do it all over again, he never would have let Eddie out of his sight.Â
There was no avoiding fate, no changing what The Universe had planned. Steve has always been aware of that. Heâs known that as fact his entire life. But still. Maybe things would have gone the way they were supposed to if they had been together.Â
Because it was supposed to be him that died.Â
His entire life he had known it was going to be him.Â
Steve has imagined it a thousand different ways. A random heart attack, or a freak accident, maybe even saving his soulmateâs life somehow. He had never even thought to consider it might be his soulmate saving him instead.Â
It was perfect. Dustin and Eddie would be far away from the danger, and Robin and Nancy were going to be just fine. Steve had no idea when it was coming, but it was going to happen in this final fight. They would win and he would have to do something stupid to make sure they did. Something off plan that would end up killing him.Â
Except, he didnât do anything that wasnât in the plan.Â
It went off without a hitch. Well, there was a pretty scary moment where there had been vines around his neck choking him, but the rest had gone exactly as they wanted it too. He and Robin had torched the monster, and then Nancy shot him in the head.Â
Vecna was dead, burning to ash on the floor in front of them. They did it. They actually fucking did it.Â
The elation of that was unlike anything Steve had ever experienced. The bone deep relief of knowing everyone he loved was finally safe, that this was finally over. That he had somehow lived to get to see it all.Â
He had lived.Â
HeâŠ..he was still alive.Â
Steve hadnât even thought to look down at his timer. He had been so busy just reacting, being in the moment of the fight. The fight was over. They had won. Everyone was safe now.Â
Steve was still alive.Â
He looked at his timer. All zeroes.Â
How long had it been all zeroes?Â
Steve took an experimental breath, and then another. Still breathing. Still alive. He looked down at his wrist. Still all zeroes. It was like he was looking at a puzzle with only one piece left, holding that last piece in his hand, but unable to make it fit for some reason. There was just something that was so wrong.Â
There were two options when it came to Timers. You died, and your timer vanished, or your timer hit zero, and your soulmate died. There were two options.Â
Steve had just never considered the other one.Â
And by the time he ran out of the Creel House, it was already too late. Steve knew that. He was running anyway. He wouldnât believe it until he saw Eddie for himself. His motherâs voice filled his ears the entire time.Â
âYouâll understand that this? This is a curse,âÂ
Steve had promised himself he would never think about his timer that way. Promised that he would never be like his mother.Â
But she might have been right about this.Â

tillymarie so so so proud of you lovie ! keep it up !
Photos were taken left and right by the time her family stepped out of the Sheldonian Theatre. Her black grad gown, she couldnât wait to take it off. Thereâs three or five paparazzi that were by the gates, asking to get her photos takenâ but she didnât want to look in their direction, wanting to celebrate her accomplishments with her sisters and her mother after the grueling four years of school. Was she ever thankful that her private school had offered the advancement program.Â
She was a graduate at 18â all thanks to the program and the money that her mother had invested into her education. Sylvie was so much like her sisters, but she had gotten into her post secondary education earlier because of her intelligence. Tilly had moved a year up after having herself assessed, but Sylvie⊠She's the only one whoâs managed to get to college early due to the practically perfect marks that she had gotten throughout the years.
âSylvie, can you just pose with your sisters for a moment?â Her mother begged as she held the digital camera, lens pointing at Sylvie, Stevie and Aimee. âWe need a photo to put up in my study.â
âMaman, thereâs a lot of paparazzi,â Sylvie whined, stomping her feet lightly. âIâm sure they got something for us.â
âTheyâve been told to stay within a certain distance,â Stevie nudged Sylvie. She smiled and murmured, âNow smile. I need some photos to post.â
âI donât like you,â Sylvie grumbled before her mouth quirked, hearing her motherâs camera clicking. That⊠and the many clicks of the cameras from the gate did too. It was meant to be a celebration for her family and friends only. It turns out, her life was everyone elseâs too.Â
Posing for a few more pictures, Blanche Ford finally put the camera down and grinned. âWell, do you want to get your photos taken with your friends?âÂ
âAlready had enough taken earlier, Maman,â Sylvie sighed, âI want to go home and see Soren now.â
She didnât want to celebrate. The past few weeks were rough. The Spanish GP had taken a toll on her energy and mental wellbeing; the last thing she had wanted to do was host parties or call for celebration. Whatever they had planned for today, that wasnât her doing.
All she wanted was to see her two week old nephew and retire to bed after.Â
But her family had a different plan. She only found out when they made the drive back to Brackley.Â
Their home there had been built long before anyone was even born. It was only purchased by Blanche by the time her divorce papers were filed and signed, making it a home for her three daughters. They grew up there, and they didnât even know that a few minutes from their place was the Mercedes AMG Petronas headquarters. It was funny how that worked because Tilly never really met Toto despite visiting the town. Sylvie still laughed about that.Â
The estate was something of a peaceful place. Sylvie loved it there. She made it a goal to spend her Christmas breaks at home seeing as university was only 27 minutes away. Now, not only was she staying there again, but Tilly and Toto moved to another neighborhood thatâs only 10 minutes away from their estate. It was an easier commute for Sylvie if she wanted to visit Soren.Â
But her thoughts washed away when she opened the front door and heard the screams of, âSURPRISE!â
Sylvie caught the graduation cap that she nearly dropped. What the hell is going on, she asked herself.Â
The foyer wasnât fully decorated but anyone who had never seen the full estate would say otherwise. Balloons that spelled out âCongratulationsâ were hung up and reflecting due to their metallic appearance. The marble columns by the two spiral staircases were fully wrapped in artificially made hydrangeas and other perennials that made the muted foyer colourful. As if those werenât enough, the arch leading to the halls were decorated with garlands and flowers, string lights putting a wedding reception to shame because of how warm it made the houseâs appearance.Â
âYou are not supposed to be here,â she finally found her words as she pointed at Toto, who was merely laughing at her bluntness as he approached her with a smile, hugging her as she wrapped her arms as much as she could around him.Â
âCongratulations, maus,â Toto grinned, âIâm so proud of you.âÂ
That party that Tilly and Blanche held for her started there, but the discomfort that she was feeling while she wore her university uniform was unbecoming. So while she was having a conversation with Lando and George, she excused herself for a second to head upstairs and change her clothes.Â
Life really was full of surprises, Sylvie told herself hours after she opened the door to her bedroom and found her vanity area cluttered with shopping bags and piles of books. She could have sworn that she hadnât purchased any books lately, too stressed out to even look at a back synopsis. She also knew that there were some things sent to her by designer houses and brands that were trying to hire her â graduation gifts, her agent told her a day ago. But those gifts were downstairs according to Tilly. So she wasnât exactly sure where this came from.Â
Looking at the corner of her bedroom, however, she moved quickly as she grabbed the blue envelope from the foot tall teddy bear that she swore she never had either. The envelope was addressed to her. Well⊠itâs addressed to a âB. Mustangâ making it easily known to her who had written the content inside. Regardless, she opened the envelope and read the message.Â
âMustang,Â
Congratulations on surviving university. I heard it sucks there. I hope you like this bearâ I called him McLaren. At least we have something to not argue about, no?
Also I hope you like the gifts I got you. Itâs the least I can do. Enjoy your celebration! Wish me luck for the next race.
Love,
O. Cadillac.â
She had never been so frustrated over a man before. She swore. She hated having to see his face at the paddock or the garage but she had never been so angry about appreciating him or liking him. He made it difficult for her to dislike him, she hated that.Â
She wanted to toss out the Dior, Cartier and whatever the fuck were dropped off at her bedroom. Everything that came from him, she wanted to throw out. Even McLaren the Teddy Bear. She wanted to despise him so much because of how shitty their history had turned out to become. But itâs not going to work like that anytime soon, she told herself. She was going to work with him one way or another and sheâd have to work with him professionally. Clearly hatred didnât work out for herâ she was so grateful for the gifts he had gotten her and she was slowly returning the same feeling that he had.
She told herself that she could stay in her room for another fifteen minutes and looked down at the letter in her hand. With a sigh, she pulled out her phone and began typing. Her right hand typed and searched for his name and the other began to open the little bags first.Â
