August 2023: Road trip!!!

Kluiter, Troy, and myself left from KC. Picked up DC in Des Moines, and then on to Cedar Rapids, IA.

Destination: Living Colour and Extreme at the Paramount.

I’ve seen Extreme more times than I can count. But, in all my hundreds (thousands?) of live shows attended, I’d actually never seen Living Colour until now.

Both bands did not disappoint. A fully epic evening!!

As usual, Nuno was cool about hanging out for a few minutes after the show and reminiscing a little bit about the Funky Munky days. 🤘🏻

I know I’m long overdue with a #HumpDayHairHack but I’ve been experimenting with new baking recipes from scratch. Here’s my Funky Munky 🐒 Cupcakes 🧁. They didn’t disappoint at all. Using bananas 🍌 and chocolate 🍫 with hints of nutmeg plus my secret ingredient to make it extra Funky these were a hit. My testers loved them so much that one of them even took my Tupperware 🤦🏾‍♀️. I will miss monkeying around with this little monkey.

As this little monkey has swung out to live in another tree..,. This home was the only home she really remembers. So this is not just my memories but almost all her childhood memories and here.

This was our little family home 3 funkymunkys.

He first day at Highschool, her first boyfriend, her temper trantrums (and the holes in the door to prove it), her first tweens and her teens, her first ball, her first job, her sweet sixteen.

Her last day at school, her last boyfriend (fingers crossed), her last family christmas, the last day of her teens.

We lived, we laughed, we cried and we loved in this place. We grew, we shared, (not her food though) and I’m sure she’s glad there will be no more mum tax. The fights and frustrations we’ve been through it all.

She found her talent here in these walls, an artist, an empath and smart as whip she really has it all

Watching her grow from girl to grown up.... I sometimes wish I could go back.

She has been my motivation for becoming a teacher, she was my hope and my glory. I could not have asked for any more.

It won’t ever be the same again without you at my door.
