"Nik, look what I got us!!!", Alex excitedly squeaked, running towards her boyfriend, Nik Ryder who was seated in the livingroom with a cup of black coffee.

"What is it, rook?", he asked before taking another sip.

"May I present you Funko Pop Nik Ryder and Funko Pop Alex?", she proudly held two tiny figures of plastic in her hands and showed them to him.

"Oh, is that us? In Funko Pop version? You are so cute, Alex.", he chuckled as he took a closer look at the little creations.

"That's right, Nik I created them online and had to order. Now they're finally here with us. So cute!! I love them."

Nik smiled at his girlfriend's excitement and took one of them in his hands, looking at Alex's mini version with a loving gaze.

"Damn, they look great. Thank you, darling.", he planted a quick kiss on her cheek to appreciate her.

"Nik, I find your Nik Funko Pop kinda cute."

After she mentioned, Nik picked up his own Funko Pop in his hand and pondered it from head to toe.

"Hmm... now that you said it it's not that bad! I hope you find me cute too and not just my Funko Pop, rook."

"Of course, Nik. I just couldn't get the jacket right. Sadly a long, brown leather coat wasn't an option, so I hope you're satisfied with the blue jacket. I could buy one for you if you want. I see that blue suits you well too."

"Hey, I don't complain. My Funko Pop looks pretty good in my humble opinion. And I like it that you put your Funko Pop in a red jacket, just like the cherry-red leather jacket that I gave you the first night we met.", he confessed as he put the Funko Pop on a counter and wrapped his arms lovingly around Alex's waist. Then he continued.

"You know, rook... The only difference between your toy version and you is that your toy version, despite being cute, is not half as beautiful as you really are. I love you, Alex. And I think the Funko Pops you created are kinda adorable, just like the two of us."

"Agreed, Nik. So they need a special place to stand. They are like little ambassadors of our love! Now the question is where to put them?"

"Well, I'm bad at this but... Hmmm, maybe on the living room bookshelf?"

"Great idea, Nik, the living room shelf is a perfect place for them, then our guests will see them too, and they will all agree that they are a perfect tribute to our love!"

"Whatever you wish, love. Anyway, I think I should get ready, darling.", Nik informed while glancing at the clock.

"Oh, right... Your mission. I kinda feel too tired to join you today anyway. Be back home soon and stay safe.", she kissed him.

"You got that, babe. Don't worry. You'll stay alone, so will you be okay on your own? And don't forget to lock up the doors and be careful. And..."

"Nik, it's not the first time. I'm no child. I know, I know, you're my overprotective boyfriend. In the meantime I'll admire our Funko Pops and play with them"

"You say I'm overprotective, but I just care for you. Oh, go ahead and have some fun with our Funko Pops, they're quite a good company for their size.", he chuckled and smiled at her.

"Oh, and I'll create a third one in the future too. In case after we get married we both want to... You know...", she teased him and playfully winked at him. Nik's cheeks turned into a soft pink shade.

"Ugh... Well, I'm not one to make predictions but if that's the way things might or should go... Then you can be creative, darling. For now, let's just... Ugghh... Well, I think we better not get carried away by the imagination. Anyway, I'd better get ready, I must hurry.", he answered while scratching the back of his neck.

"Sure, stay safe."

"Oh, you know me, I'm always vigilant.

I'll lock the door behind me... Be back soon.", he said while taking one last look at the Funko Pops of the couple and smiled.

Later, Alex was alone in the apartment getting bored without Nik, so she decided to play with the Funko Pops. About an hour or two had passed since Nik had gone on a mission. Alex lonely with Funko Pop Alex and Funko Pop Nik which were now placed on the counter in the living room. As she looked at them she let her mind wander, thinking nostalgically of her relationship with Nik. Of the highs and lows they had together. Smiling, she picked up her Funko Pop and the one of Nik, making the two miniatures kiss. She giggled slightly then made Nik's Funko Pop hug the Funko Pop of herself and give her a long kiss on the lips.

Then, she glanced at her own Funko Pop and made it kiss Nik's Funko Pop several times in quick succession on the mouth and on the cheek making a series of little "pecks".

"I'm crazy, I know. This happens when I'm alone", she giggled at this, finding it hilarious.

Taking a deep breath, laughing, and putting both Funko Pops on the countertop, she sat on the uncomfortable, white leather couch, starting to reminisce about her love story with Nik. Despite it not being completely perfect, she had to admit that she loved him and never wanted to be without him, so much so that she wondered.

"What if we have kids? What if we get married one day? Would he...? ", Alex sighed as the answer to that question could be a bitter one. If only she could know what was happening in his mind.

Taking the Funko Pops again, she started to play different scenarios. Using her imagination and skills to recreate scenes like the couple having a romantic dinner, going on a trip, or watching a movie together, and also more funny scenes like Nik pretending to be hurt just to get a hug or a kiss.

She laughed amused as she saw her imagination become reality through the miniatures of the couple, but as she continued to watch she also felt a bit of nostalgia for maybe not being able to actually experience these scenarios with Nik.

Now, Alex picked up the two Funko Pops and imagined a wedding proposal. The Funko Pops representing her and Nik was in a romantic location, under a starry night with a moon full of candlelight illuminating the scene. The Alex Funko Pop was smiling lovingly at the Nik Funko Pop who held her hands and was knelt on one knee, presenting a shiny gem-encrusted ring.

"Alex, will you marry me?", she spoke as Funko Pop Nik in a lower, manly tone.

The Alex Funko Pop smiled and tears of happiness welled up in her eyes as she answered, also in Alex's voice, but this time in her sweet, normal tone.

"Yes, Nik. Yes, I will marry you, with all my heart.", Alex answered making the Funko Pops kiss each other.

Funko Pop Nik picked up Funko Pop Alex in his strong arms, holding her close in a tender embrace and kissing her passionately. The lovely Funko Pop couple held each other tightly in their arms as if nothing bad could ever happen to them.

"Awww, such a cute story. Now which scenario should I play next? Hmmmmm... Oh, I'll play how I, Alex saves Nik."

Alex smiled at her own idea, picked up the Funko Pops and placed them in a fighting scenario. Nik's Funko Pop was wounded and kneeling, while Alex's Funko Pop was standing protectively in front of her partner to defend him from an invisible opponent. The Funko Pop of Alex was looking back at the wounded Funko Pop Nik, giving him a determined and protective look. "I'll protect you, Nik."

The Nik Funko Pop looked at her with a pained expression but love in his eyes and weakly whispered. "Thank you, babe"

"Of course, partner."

"What are you doing, Alex??!!!", Nik's voice interrupted her.

"Funko Pop Nik, you can talk??!!!!", the real Alex panicked and immediately moved her hands away from her toys. Anything magical and supernatural could happen in the World of Night, even Funko Pops getting alive... Right?

"Turn around, rook."

She did as the voice commanded, and turned around. Her gaze wandered toward the entrance of the apartment. A bit startled, she saw Nik, her boyfriend standing there. His expression was a mix of surprise and concern on his face.

"Nik, you're back?!!"

"What the hell are you doing here alone in the dark living room at midnight?"

"Nik, you're back. I... I can explain. I couldn't sleep without you and..."

Nik's expression softened, his gaze filled with understanding and affection. He approached her girlfriend and cupped her face gently, caressing her cheek tenderly.

"Oh, my rook. I'm sorry if my absence caused such concern for you. I was just doing my job like always. I swear everything's okay."

He leaned in to give her a tender kiss on the lips, wanting to reassure her.

"Thanks, Nik. Glad to see you safe and don't worry, but our Funko Pops kept me entertained. Right now I'm playing a wedding scene."

Nik burst into laughter at this revelation, his eyes widening in amusement and surprise.

"Oh really? You and our Funko Pops have been planning a wedding?"

"And later they'll have children.", she innocently confessed.

Nik grinned, clearly amused by the whole thing, and chuckled.

"Oh my goodness, so we'll also have Funko Pop children now? Are we gonna build another shelf just for their family?", he couldn't stop laughing, shaking his head slightly in amusement.

"Who knows, Nik."

"Well, our miniature selves seem very proactive. If they're already planning a wedding and contemplating children, I don't know where they'll stop. Maybe soon they'll be requesting a house in the suburbs with a white picket fence.", he joked which made her giggle even more.

Smiling, he gently wrapped his arms around her waist as he leaned closer.

"You know, while our Funko Pops are busy planning their future, how about we focus on the present? Spend some quality time together, just you and I?", Nik whispered into her ear, his tone filled with warmth and affection.

"Nik, you know what? Let's go to sleep and spend some quality time tomorrow. Sorry, but I feel a bit tired.", she confessed and nodded in agreement. He gently squeezed her hand and pulled her into a loving and comforting embrace.

"Of course, rook. Let's hit the bed and rest. I can imagine that a day spent arranging weddings and thinking about children can be very exhausting.", he chuckled as he gently kissed her forehead. His voice was soft and filled with a hint of playful amusement before heading towards the bedroom together.

"Good night, Funko Pop Alex and Nik.", she wished their two little figures.

Nik laughed softly at the mention of their Funko Pop counterparts.

"Good night to them too, darling. I have a feeling they'll have more adventures in their little world while we rest."

The Fuck Funko Indie Bundle

So recently a company hired by Funko Pop issued a bogus report to the company that keeps itch.io online, and got the site taken down for a few hours.

It was a bunch of bullshit involving corporate overreach, AI, and a gut check for everyone who makes their living selling things on itch.io, including indie TTRPG creators like me and my friends.

So I put together a bundle with some other indie TTRPG makers to raise some money to help us start 2025 on the right foot. Every purchase is split evenly between us, and goes toward things that let us keep filling the world with art.

Give some money to some indies, spread the word, leave positive ratings and comments, and make living easier for people who make beautiful thoughtful art.

I am curious, how would Ellie's apartment in a modern au would look? this is just a mashup of ideas that i have, if you got a bunch of them add 'em!

Would she live closer to Joel? like her apartment will be located in a quiet neighborhood, she's just a few blocks from Joel's house (a 10-minute walk, tops), he likes knowing she's close just in case, even if she cringes every time he casually drops in with leftovers from dinner, maybe the building has a modest brick-and-wood exterior with a small communal staircase that creaks a little when you walk up to her door? the space itself is relatively compact, cozy but big enough for one person to stretch out without bumping elbows with furniture, there's nothing too fancy here but Ellie makes it hers in little ways that give it character, her door has a simple number plaque, someone's scribbled a doodle of an alien over it with permanent marker, she'd laugh about it every time she walked in if she weren't pretending to hate it lmao next to the alien, there's a faded band sticker peeling at the edges, i believe the apartment always smells faintly of coffee and whatever candle she's currently burning, maybe something woodsy or spicy? (there's a faint lil smell of weed lingering in the air, no matter how much she tries to air it out), her apartment overlooks a small park, where she likes to sit and sketch sometimes, she's got a bird feeder hanging outside of it, and she enjoys watching the birds come and go.

(i like to headcanon that she works with Joel as a handyman)

She got a second-hand couch covered with a few mismatched blankets thrown over the back, one of the blankets definitely has a dinosaur print that she adores, there's also a beanbag and a coffee bag of course, there are indents from drinks, stray paint streaks from an old project, and scratches and does Ellie have plants? maybe she got a small collection of succulents (that she can't kill kinda, they can die if you don't water them after a looong time) one by Joel and a bunch you two got together, it's a little collection of them in cute terracotta pots, maybe some different shapes and sizes (there are some colorful and silly stickers around the pots), she'd probably have them lined up on a windowsill, getting all the sunlight, you've been keeping them alive by quietly watering them behind her back when she invites you over, Ellie doesn't actually notice, but hey, they look great! she's even named some of them 'Captain Sprout', 'Groot Jr', Ellie is still trying to come up with a name for the others, give her some time poor sweetie), she's also got a small aloe vera plant that she actually does remember to water occasionally because she uses it for burns.

Oh, scattered on the shelves you can find little figurines, like the plastic T-Rex you got her and a LEGO spaceship she built and refuses to move because it's too fragile, next to them a few knick-knacks, like a cool rock she found on a hike (that she swears glows at night even though it absolutely doesn't, the "glowing" rock gets moved around every so often, as if Ellie is trying to find the perfect spot to amplify its non-existent glow, she's so silly i am gonna marry her one day) and two LEGO figurines, of you and Ellie, that she swore up and down were 'just something to mess with.' whatever Ellie. She got a decent set of speakers and a record player with some vinyl (don't ask me which one, i honestly don't know what type of music she would listen, sorry El, ily), her bluetooth speaker, she has def some funko pop figures still in the box because she's weirdly protective of them.

oh there's also a blu-ray because Star Wars owns a corner of her heart, and she has definitely mismatched mugs hanging on hooks ranging from a cheesy one that says "World's Okayest Lesbian" to some diy pottery mugs she found at a thrift shop (and one with a chipped handle that you gave her that says 'I Need Space' with stars on it), a coffee maker that’s clearly her lifeline to civilization... and next to it, a mug with a rubber dinosaur figurine glued randomly on the side (an early diy project from when she was bored, but you found it cute af, you called him 'Mr. Bitey'), the fridge is def decorated with an embarrassing collection of magnets you two brought from road trip stops, ticket from a concert that you two went to or of a museum (def not a date, no no), a photo booth strips with you and her making dumb faces (her precious treasure) she keeps it tucked under one of the magnets, sticking out from under one of the magnets, there is also a folded-up takeout menu from a local pizza place she likes and a chalkboard with a grocery list, what she has to do or just random doodles that you, the others and Joel made when you visit her, there's always a new passive-aggressive chalk scribble urging her to eat better ('ELLIE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, EAT SOMETHING BESIDES RAMEN - J') her own notes are rarer, but things like 'chocolate milk' or 'buy that good cereals' peek between the doodles, there's one goofy smiley face you drew the last time you were over and she hasn't erased them both

anddd she totes has a PS4/5 where she can play tlou (lolll jk jk or not, but if she does, you've caught her tearing up during the giraffe scene more than once) Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, The Witcher, even Mario Kart which she keeps the number of how many times she's beaten you at it (She rages hard at Mario Kart, especially when you use the blue shell on her right before the finish line), and a pc with a gaming chair (the gaming chair is covered sometimes in cat hair, even though she doesn't have a cat. It's a mystery for both of you, it's actually the neighbor cat getting inside her apartment whenever she's out), she has this gaming keyboard with customizable rgb lighting that she sets to a rainbow pattern for now, she wants to decorate it but got no idea how, she has a bookshelves filled with comics, Savage Starlight is always on top, it's her holy grail, then there's dinosaur encyclopedias, space encyclopedias..sci-fi novels with titles that sound way too complicated for my liking and a gardening book is jammed in there too

Ellie also has a small flatscreen TV mounted on the wall, where she watches movies or plays games, the remote is perpetually buried in the couch cushions and you two always lose a good time for finding it, oh and Joel gifted a digital drawing tablet to her for her bday (there's a toons of dinosaurs, rockets, and lesbian pride rainbow stickers haphazardly slapped on the back of it) for art even if if she still likes to draw in the traditional way too (sketchbooks, pencils, maybe some paints tucked away in a drawer), posters of movies Alien, Star Wards Jurassic Park etc and of some bands she likes, she has a corkboard covered in snapshots of her, her friends and of you two (some are silly, some are sweet, and some are blurry messes), there's also a goofy one of her flipping off the camera shot by you.

On her nightstand there's her current read a novel (Gideon the ninth), a pair of earbuds she stole from you, her lip balm, her diary, a charging cable, and a half-empty glass of water you remember to bring with her when she's going to sleep, she has a dreamcatcher hanging above her bed even though she doesn't believe in that stuff, you gave it to her as a 'joke' (for her nightmares hoping it would actually help her a little), hidden somewhere are her half-done, guilty attempts at your portrait she swears aren't of you in her drawer, ooh she def has string lights strung above her bed too, instead under her bed she keeps a shoebox filled with old letters, a dried flower from the first time you brought her flowers, a movie ticket stub from the first movie you two saw together and other mementos from her life, it's her little time capsule of memories.

There's a mountain of clothes scattered everywhere, with one very particular section of it with your clothes. She swears it's because she needs to wash them (she did ofc), but the truth is, it's not the fully truth, she keeps your clothes just because she likes the scent but don't call her out of it, nono! when she's feeling particularly lonely, she'll wear one of your hoodies to bed. Don't tell her i told you that btw.

For the plushies...she has plushies, she def does. She has a good bunch of dino plushies but her fav ones are these, they're named "cucumber', 'mr snuggles' (cliché) and 'george' (museum gift shop), they're her bed buddies!

When you're over at her place, you might catch her absentmindedly adjusting them or giving one a quick squeeze, she'll immediately act like she didn't do anything, but you'll know the truth.

Man Down!

Over the weekend, it seems that our beloved game hosting site, Itch.io, has been attacked by brand Funko Pop and their usage of the AI tool called "Brand Shield". Sunday night, the site spent hours completely offline.

"[Brand Shield] created some bogus phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain," (— itch.io (@itchio) December 9, 2024) said Itch on social media, but not before taking a moment to brand the software as "trash." The software allegedly used by Funko that took the itch.io site down is made by a company called BrandShield. BrandShield describes itself as an “AI-powered online anti-counterfeiting solution” that monitors for “trademark infringements, phishing attempts, brand abuse, and counterfeit activity.”

Itch.io claims to have taken down the “disputed page” that triggered the phishing report immediately on receiving a takedown notice, but said no-one at iwantmyname appeared to have read the email confirming the page’s removal.

An iwantmyname representative said, “The domain name was already reinstated earlier today after the registrant finally responded to our notice and took appropriate action to resolve the issue.” At the time iwantmyname’s reply was sent, itch.io appeared to have been back online for less than 40 minutes. The ability to reinstate a domain name in such a short time frame is currently unconfirmed.

Luckily, the website at large appears to be up-and-running again, as of our reporting this, and the company behind Itch.io has noted that their servers haven't shown any signs of impact from the incident.

Itch decided to hold tight before taking any drastic measures, such as putting up a new domain, but did offer a workaround for indie developers to use: "There are implications with third party services that make [switching domains] not a trivial swap. In the meantime, if you know how to tweak your hosts file use: 45.33.107.166."

"If you do edit your hosts file, please remember to remove all the lines after domain is restored. Although we typically hold an IP for a while, it can change if we update our back-end infrastructure. If the downtime exceeds 8 hours then we'll likely prioritize deploying a new domain. Hopefully things are able to get sorted out before then." Itch came back online between 5 and 6 a.m. EST on Monday morning, after at least three hours during which it was completely offline for most users, including both players and developers who use the open platform. Games and other products already bought from itch.io can be used without issue, but the storefront outage will likely be a significant problem for creators who use it for distribution.

We here at YanSim News urge creators to double-check their games to ensure nothing has been lost or corrupted.

the evolution of cure paradise and cure lune, 2017-2025

cure justice already got her own post but i wanted to share paradise and lune as well because They Are My Blorbo OCs Your Honor. just like justice, they've gone through a lot of changes (especially lune)

i'll start with paradise first:

the very first image of cure paradise in existence, from the same day as cure justice, december 29 2017. i am SO sorry about the horrible photo quality this is a photo that was taken that same day, late at night, on a shitty iphone 5 and i don't have the sketchbook it's in with me right now to get a better one. she's had basically the same exact hairstyle since. her eyes look Like That because i was trying to copy the dokidoki style at the time (and had no idea how it worked)

the first fullbody, and in color! this one is dated december 31 2017. for some reason cherry blossoms were a huge motif originally and i don't know why. i think i just really liked cherry blossoms (i still do)

this one's from april 2018. there's a new costume variation up in the top left corner, but what's really interesting to me is that there's a baton like justice's (except with star toppers insteadof a fleur-de-lys) in this image even though i know for a fact she was planned to have a bow as her weapon from the start. maybe i thought about changing it and decided against it

also from april 2018, her in the dolldivine sailor moon oc maker. same day as justice

july 2018. this one features the most notable change to her hair, which i was trying to figure out in this image: should i keep the loops around the base of her pigtails or change them to a more star-like shape to go with her motif? i ended up going with the star shape. AND THEN CURE STAR TOOK THEM LESS THAN A YEAR LATER BUT I REFUSE TO CHANGE THEM ONCE AGAIN I WAS THERE FIRST TOEI!!!

this one also features the earliest (from what i can tell) appearance of her cropped jacket that resembles justice's except it's open. that's important too

also from july 2018, her in the glitter cure maker! this yellow/gold/brown color scheme stuck around for a long time. i honestly kind of dig it i wouldn't mind using it for a yellow cure in the future

paradise also got a design in the style of the puzzlun sprites, but i sadly never took a photo and the sketchbook with it is at home. if i remember to take a photo next time i'm there and update this i will but no promises

finally, in october 2022, we've reached her final design! she's got green now, since i felt that green made a lot of sense as a sub color for a cure with a very tropical name. there's actually a traditional art ref slightly older than this image but ONCE AGAIN I DIDN'T TAKE A PHOTO CURSE YOU PAST JUSTIE. anyways. i realized that now that i had a slightly more advanced program than ms paint (firealpaca) i could draw over memes now and could become unstoppable. so here she is with a bazooka because she deserves it

i found this in my photo album and i'm 99% sure it was intended to be yet another attempt at figuring out at least a basis of a design for her. it's dated may 2018. why are her eyes red now? i have no idea

from july 2018, lune in glitter cure. this is the first time she's had her hair down and worn a bow, which would become a regular thing later on

finally. in 2020. i found a design i liked. it originated when i was drawing the modpre girls as funko pops.

i later sketched it out with normal proportions (and notes on what colors to use):

after i was done i was like. wait shit. her hair looks like cure marine's. but i was so happy to finally have a design i was satisfied with i didn't care enough to change it

digital lune! this was traced over a star twinkle precure screenshot in january 2023 (the blue cure in the background is cure borealis from my fanseason northern lights). i got really into tracing over precure screenshots my freshman year of college since i had time to kill, a computer mouse, and thought it was really fun seeing my cures in the precure art style. this is actually one half of a "cures as tumblr posts" thing, the other half was cure ghost from supernatural precure asking a question about mirror people

Simblr Gratitude Day

Info here! This is such a wonderful idea, and although I worry constantly about leaving people out, I also think it's important to let people know when you like something they've done. I really only use Tumblr to find CC because I'm too stupid to follow stories on any format other than IG, so I'm going to mention just 5 of the CC makers who I absolutely could not tell my story without . ❤️

Simdertalia

If I ever find myself thinking, "Huh, I really need This Thing in my game" then chances are @simdertalia will have made it. Then what happens is I find something I didn't know I needed, and I download that too. 🤣 Featured above are Simdertalia's roots and vines which I used for a plant magic scene, crisps and drinks for one of the few occasions when my Sims got to leave the house, and the Funko Pop cereal boxes which I think were how I discovered her CC in the first place!

It's a treat when I whip out the @simmireen poses for my main couple, because it means they're actually going to have a nice 5 minutes. 🤣 I like to imagine that they get excited when they see me scrolling down to the Simmireen section. I can't remember where the first set came from, but featured above are the Goodnight Love and Sunshine posepacks.

I think I use at least one of @samssims / @samsstudio 's poses in every post I make. 🤣❤️ What I like most is that I don't have to waste time going through multiple posepacks to find the right emotion - they're so well-organised AND the look down/sitting versions are SO useful too. Sam's poses really are an absolute necessity for any storyteller. Used above are from Child Emotions: Fear, Reactions Poses: Pointing, and Emotions Poses: Fear.

Hanukkah day 3 haul!

Okay so yesterday was INSANE.

So I got a VR (Meta Quest 3S) that's mainly mine but to share with my fam, my little brother got an ice cream maker that's mostly his but to share with the family, my older brother got a sodastream that's mostly his but to share with the family.

I also got a cinnamoroll tote bag, a cinnamoroll funko pop, a surprise figure band bracelet thing (Sanrio ones, I got my melody and cinnamoroll), also got a book of drawing references for drawing anime, some chocolates, a giant Belgian chocolate bar, Reese's pieces, sour snowflake gummies, and my friend got me a Miraculous Ladybug Guess Who game

Man, my friends and oldest brother are better at giving gifts than my parents 😭 not just price wise, I mean like how thoughtful the gifts are, I feel like my parents' gifts are less individual to me, and more general, but they're still good and I love them all.

I'm so happy 😭

New and available to buy from the Disney store (including the UK store, yay) is a range of Marvel character themed mugs, including Loki!

Ngl, the handle scares me a bit. I can easily see myself dropping it if I don't pay attention when grabbing it. 😬

On a personal note, The Void Deluxe Pop! Moment was delivered today~!

Which means I have to find space for it, lol. ^^;

So, I've had to put my Pop!s back in their boxes to make space. T-T
