Friday Fright Flick: The Funhouse (1981)
Rebellious teen Amy (Elizabeth Berridge) defies her parents by going to a trashy carnival that has pulled into town. In tow are her boyfriend, Buzz (Cooper Huckabee), and their friends Liz (Largo Woodruff) and Richie (Miles Chapin). Thinking it would be fun to spend the night in the campy "Funhouse" horror ride, the teens witness a murder by a deformed worker wearing a mask. Locked in, Amy and her friends must evade the murderous carnival workers and escape before it leaves town the next day.

So, which run from Scarlet Hollow would you say has been your favorite until now? Any favorite trait/trait combo?
Favorite combo was the first I took of course, Mystical and Talk to Animals! You get to be so weird and everyone is so put off by your antics!
Some long ass rambling and spoilers below!
Individually, TTA can feel a little useless at some points, it’s never a passive ability so you only get use out of it when there’s animals around. It especially feels lacking in chapter 2, where there are two instance of running into wild animals (the bird and the bats) that feel weird since you don’t get to pause and chat with them and they don’t say anything noteworthy about ditchlings, the mines, the town, etc.
I get why it can feel like that, you don’t want players to feel they made a mistake choosing talk with animals by not having animals appear throughout a chapter, but you also don’t want player’s who didn’t choose it feel like they’re always missing out on important stuff by having too many animals.
I really think they should let more passive thoughts with TTA occur. The only instance I can recall of it appearing as a thought is if you’ve had Sybil’s tea and it’s like “she won’t judge you for your quirk :), go talk to her”. It caught me so off guard when I first saw it and Mystical pointing out that my thoughts were all weird made me almost stand up like “WHAT”. But even though it doesn’t sound like TTA would have passive moments where it’s not directly in action, I think it should, maybe our character is privy to random facts woodland critters have told us, or we’re more in tune with nature or something. Idk, it’s not useless and it’s incredibly hard to compare it to the other traits cause it essentially makes previously non-characters like Dustin or the Goat into characters, that’s something no others trait does.
Now for my more positive thoughts on TTA, damn is proving you can actually understand animals at the library so satisfying, and it stays satisfying as Kaneeka slowly comes to believe it herself over the course of the chapters! I'm so glad it seems to be getting taken more seriously by the characters as the chapters pass, we start by getting introduced to the trait in chapter 1, then we don't use it much in the second, then we get to talk to the mayor and, if Gretchen is alive, get the knowledge that something is up with Reese. And then we can learn that the PASTOR TALKS TO ANIMALS TOO. In chapter 4 visiting Pastor Daniel is great, I love that the game is setting up for TTA to have more of a spotlight.
Now Mystical. Mystical is probably my favorite trait. I've heard some people say it feels useless early on, and I think those people may not have played with it in their first run, cause going in blind with mystical makes you aware of a lot of stuff, like knowing someone will die out on the trails on Monday before it actually happens made me so tense, and knowing something is suspicious about Sybil when she gives you that look, or that "You're finally back where you belong" sending the shivers of foreboding up the spine!
It gives you longer visions if you have it (and are drinking Sybil's evil tea), so it's great for me who loves theorizing and lore. And the channeling of Charlie’s spirit in his funky funhouse of fright? That whole sequence with the seance options is what truly got me hooked on the game.
I also love how it seems mystical MC’s can be a little frustrated by chapter 4? The whole “hopefully my powers will finally do more than make me unwillingly channel ghosts” makes you sound so fed up with how not only are you forced into knowing things will happen and having no control over it, but also fed up with how no one takes you seriously. Like Stella seems a little excited at the prospect you could be a psychic when meeting Duke, and Avery is chill with everyone so they don’t judge you, but everyone else brushes you aside or looks at you weird. Also Sybil, fucking Sybil trying to make me feel my abilities are less than her’s during the tea reading. Lady I will find a way to have me and your daughter mystic blast you, you can’t even do anything without making people drink tea, suffer.
Anyway sorry for the rambling! I’m obsessed with this game, so much so I joined the discord, I rarely join stuff like that due to nerves, so that’s how you know the brainrot is REAL.

COME ALL HALLOW'S EVE , YOU BETTER BAR THOSE SHUTTERS .
you’ve been invited … local scare zones have been erected around anchorage, there are SIX in total. are you prepared for a night of fright ?? this year's festivities have been brought to you by brunch-a-nonsense & the dairy witch, banding together to fund the ALL HALLOW'S EVIL festival, open for one night only !! guests who adhere to the costume requirements ( see #ANCHORTASK09 ) will be granted an all-access pass to the following for the low price of five dollars : a pumpkin patch, carving contest, a witch's brew ( specially themed food & drink, first set free with entry ), a corn maze, adult haybale slide, funhouse of mirrors, midnight magician acts, a costume photobooth that spits out a six-cut of pictures, & live music from chiaroscuro catacombs, & a s'mores bonfire full of spooky stories ( with complementary hot chocolate ). there is also limited availability to participate in the six scare zones, as their time slots have mostly filled up for the evening, so make sure to get your sign-up sheets filled !! ADMIN NOTE : this plot drop is largely up to writer involvement & the outcome of all events will be driven by writer choice entirely & the aftermath of each set is entirely up to you !
INFORMATION FOR TAG LURKERS / PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS :
our goal is to involve new people in the group as much as possible. there are many open & wanted spaces, especially for roles. at the moment, we are searching for :
MEMBERS OF THE ORDER OF THE SCARLET NIGHTMARE & NIGHTCRAWLERS, specifically a hitperson. we are also looking for workers at brunch-a-nonsense.
because these are choice scenarios pre-written, we cannot include new members, but we have laid out a general event as described above that your muses can be involved in without scenarios. we will tentatively be willing to add a seventh scare zone if we were to have three new members apply to form a full group.
HOW SELECTION WORKS :
as always, feel free to ask us kindly for adjustments to these scenarios if you feel the starting points given aren’t accurate to your characterization, but we tried to make them as light as possible.
our selection was entirely random for part of the plot drop, but some muses were determined through hand-picked selections for injuries this time. we have over seventy muses & bars in place to keep some from being picked too many times consecutively.
major injuries & death, if any, are hand-selected on the basis of the butterfly effect this time, per our notes about the plot progressions, individual & group-centric, of muses. we keep track of these as much as we can & take note of anything significant that could be utilized.
the butterfly effect will be utilized in a flow of set 1 choices affecting the choices given in set 2. in addition, some injury possibilities were hand-picked based on the plotlines we’ve taken note of in their interactions in the past year.
we did not select anyone who is on an indefinite hiatus or semi-hiatus who has not been active within the past month, nor anyone on hiatus through a majority of this event as it requires frequent communication with your writers in the same group so everyone has sufficient time to plot & write. we also did not select anyone who was given plot points over the summer & have yet to utilize them, as not many have given focus to that yet, so please don't forget them !
THE GUIDELINES FOR MEMBERS & THREADS :
the first open starter will be our icebreaker. after that, please abide the starter rule ! please only post open starters that pertain to the plot drop at this time & follow the in-game dates provided below !
we encourage you to write open starters based off the aftermath of the scenarios you imagine after you’ve made choices for both sets !
you may still post exclusives outside of the realm of the plot drop and/or continue older threads.
we ask you refrain from controlling the NPCs themselves other than what is established.
PLEASE BE SURE to label your open starters with location & timestamps for this plot drop.
we highly recommend making a thread in #talk space within our server if you don’t want to make a private group chat or DM with your partner to decide on your choices. this plot drop requires communication between the designated sets to work.
there’s many possibilities for starters, as those not grouped together or selected can be reacting to these events around town & you have been given the ability to interact with the ALL HALLOW'S EVIL set-up as described above. if you need suggestions, feel free to DM us or ask.
to gain entry to the event overall, muses must adhere to the theme given in our task, or else they will not be permitted entry.
OOC THIS EVENT WILL LAST : until saturday, november 30th. after this date, please refrain from more starters pertaining to the plot drop — but of course the plot drop itself will hold affect on all muses exploring the aftermath & moving forward.
a follow-up will be posted regarding all plot drop transpirations a few days after the plot drop ends.

BEWARE THE FOLLOWING … body horror tw, major injury tw.
SCARE ZONE 1 ... ROSALIND, NARI, PESOR & HEEJIN.
A TOUR OF THE HAUNTED GALLERY : the quartet are led into the building of a redesigned hanging arts museum & promised a night of fright with possessed masterpieces. as they make their way through the rooms, the realization dawns that they have lost their tour guide. upon entering the final room, they discover tons of yarn strung up throughout with doctored photographs of rosalind clutching the ventriloquist doll. each photograph depicts them doing something more & more heinous to the doll, or the doll appearing to control them. as they look on, the paintings begin to tremor & shake violently, & a crimson red leaks through the walls : OPEN THSE THREE TO FIND THE KEEEEYY ... the doorknob is unresponsive to turning hands, as three paintings outline themselves in the sticky red substance.
SET ONE CHOICES : A ) they look behind the first painting, where a small box is sitting in an inlet of the wall. nari removes the box & discovers that inside, it contains nikolai's kidney ( currently unidentified but still warm . . . ). there is a note thumb tacked to it that reads, 'YOUR HEART, PLEASE ??', or B ) they look behind the second painting, where a frown has been scrawled onto the back with a sad looking puppet monkey sitting in the inlet, holding a note that reads, 'YOUR ALWAYS RUININGG MY F U N ROSSSY ):' as the foundation of the room begins to quake violently. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) if nari declines, the room begins to shake & spin in violent circles as if it is on a table top. the paintings rip from the wall & one of them collides with pesor's head, knocking them out immediately & causing a mild concussion. heejin clings to the wall & pulls herself toward the door that they came from. the door opens this time, but behind the door is a statue in the likeness of someone familiar ... herself. it crumbles & blocks the door again, the screams of her family members echoing from the other side. the room finally stops spinning, however they cannot get out without each digging the rocks away bit by bit, or B ) nari agrees to the demand for the sake of her teammates & the owner of the kidney in hand, regardless of its identity. from behind one of the bigger portraits enters bigglesworth bandit the outlaw & approaches the four. as the outlaw stands before nari, it removes its mask to reveal it is headless. as nari lets out a blood-curdling scream, heejin hits the bandit over the head with the painting that she was able to remove from the wall, & it falls to the floor, evidently unconscious. during all of this, pesor was able to pry the third painting open & reveal a button that opens the door & allows them to escape. as they turn to collect nari, they discover that the outlaw & her, including the kidney, are gone. left behind is a note that says, ' P.S. your parents miss you rrosssy !! ' ( ADMIN NOTE : selecting choice B will include an aftermath for nari in the follow-up for clarity. ) CHOICE SELECTED : B.
SCARE ZONE 2 ... RENATA, BRYN & SEOKMIN.
PHONING THE DEAD : the hot topic of the magician's booth is that they're no longer among the living. bryn & seokmin have chosen to tune in to the act at the end of their scare zone, descending into the basement of the house of judgement. as the magician appears to float into the room, with ghastly & gaunt skin as if glued to the bone, the face beneath the top hat is almost familiar to them, but none of them can put their finger on it. the magician invites promises to demonstrate sawing someone in half. as they take their seats, the ghastly magician readies the meat saw. unbeknownst to the group that have entered the basement of the scare house, renata fled the scare zone after being chased by a pair of aggressive ferrets biting at her heels, literally. in her terror, she crawled into the box as a hiding place, & the door slammed shut on her. the saw begins to cut into the box & terrified screams erupt.
SET ONE CHOICES : A ) bryn & seokmin scramble toward the box, & the apparition of the magician disappears as a piece of metal clinks onto the ground. if one of them were to look closer, it appears to be a button from four years ago : suchai tayen for anchorage council. the saw continues to move, disembodied, & they must start opening the box board by board as the saw gets closer and closer to cutting into renata's mid-section, or B ) the two believe that the screaming is part of the act, until the box begins to quake from renata's thrashing. before their eyes, the box is multiplied into threes, all of the saws moving in tandem & the magician tells them : they can save the so-called assistant if they correctly guess which box she is in. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) the two continue to hurriedly remove the boards, struggling to dismantle the heavy wooden pieces. in the process, bryn receives a deep cut wound when they attempt to move a little faster, a splintered part of the board gashing his hand. eventually, they manage to pull renata out by the last minute with bryn's hand gravely injured. seokmin is able to find a back door exit from the underground scare house & steps leading to the trash chutes out back. when they try to tell others about the room & the magic act, scare actors employed at the building look at them strangely & inform them that what they are describing does not exist, or B ) no matter how many times they attempt to remove the boards, they are not agile enough — the saw cuts deeper & deeper until it is almost scratching renata. however, at the very last second, the saw halts, seemingly on its own, hovering an inch above their midsection. as renata is eventually pulled out, a piece of paper is strewn nearby, indicating news of a buried report two years prior involving the death of suchai tayen at the new year's eve party suggesting that he had been poisoned & deceased prior to being stabbed. CHOICE SELECTED : B.
SCARE ZONE 3 ... ALICE, ANDREA & ASTARION.
A PHARAOH'S TOMB : geared up for a scavenger hunt of musical gravestones & hiding from the baddies in gothland sepulture, the chosen three must share a map to determine the locations of geocaches stored in fake plots. they decide to split up to divide & conquer, plodding through the first snows of alaska. andrea gets the uncomfortable feeling that someone is following them, but the sound of shadowing footsteps stop in tandem with their own. pushing onward to get ahead of the scare actors that will infiltrate the graveyard, they kneel down to dust the snow off of one of the headstones, & let out a scream as they discover it has their name on it. alice, alerted by the sound of andrea's screaming, starts to make her way back toward her team member, but second-guesses whether it is part of the game as masked individuals begin to emerge from the trees. diving behind a headstone, the continuous screaming sinks a cold chill into alice's bones. . .
SET ONCE CHOICES : A ) alice abandons the grave to run in the direction of andrea being dragged toward an unmarked vehicle, but trips over one of the broken headstones & splinters her ankle. with bone protruding & useless on the ground, astarion grabs onto her arm & yanks her behind the cover of the trees, or B ) alice stands up from behind the grave & calls out to andrea as she witnesses them being dragged toward an unmarked vehicle, & as she searches for a distraction, she comes face-to-face with bigglesworth bandit the outlaw. with its gun drawn, it shoots alice in the stomach & forces her to retreat behind another headstone. CHOICE SELECTED : B.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) fatally wounded by the gunshot & influenced by the pain, fatigue begins to set in for alice as she starts to envision things that may or may not be real. figures begin emerging from graves in grotesque conditions, & disembodied limbs are scattered across the ground. as she crawls away from the sights, she reaches the furthest part of the sepulture & believes she sees the corpse of andrea. disturbed and freaked out by the vision, alice eventually faints. seemingly hours later, alice wakes up to astarion, shaking her. they find themselves in the mausoleum, away from the original location, with no trace of the bigglesworth bandit the outlaw except for his gun on the floor next to astarion, yet the bandit never returns. they escape, bewildered, or B ) astarion manages to fight off the bandit & arrives next to alice in time while she is bleeding on the ground. before the outlaw could approach any closer, astaron retrieves another gun nearby. one of them shoots the outlaw, & the sound indicates it's a real gun, as well as the blasted off limb of the outlaw. however, it rises back up again as if it was unwounded, unnerving the two, & metal & electrical wires can be seen protruding. astarion gives another shot, & another, just enough for buy them time to begin running. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SCARE ZONE 4 ... MEI, MINDY & ASH.
HANG 'EM HIGH : the wind is still & silent as the group reach the top of hangman's hill, where a skeleton with a cowboy hat is dangling from a noose around its neck. the other end of the rope is wrapped tautly around the trunk of the tree. the only sound is the skeleton's plastic bones creaking & clacking as it swings around. mei unravels the quest note provided with the game, which instructs them to cut the skeleton down to win the game. each party has been given a weapon : an axe for mei, a broadsword for ash & a dagger for mindy. as they discuss their plan to bring the skeleton down from its perch & win the game, they are keenly aware of rustling emanating from the bushes. the skeleton above them groans out a ghoulish 'BEEEWARE ...' as what appear to be scare actors crawl out from the brush. they are surrounded on all sides by cartoon character villains, standing & stumbling toward them.
SET ONE CHOICES : A ) ash is the first to strike with his weapon & the blow misses the rope tethering the skeleton to the old willow tree & lands a direct hit to the face of one of the 'actors'. there is a sputtering & coughing, as blood gushes from their face and their eyes begin to melt from their sockets, the agape jaw revealing a hint of metal or B ) mindy attempts to stab one of the scare actors with the dagger, breaking in half immediately when it contacts with the actor, but the blade is lodged in the monster's chest. the monstrous being removed the broken blade from its chest & turns it on them, beginning to violently gash at their face. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) competitive & spirited for the game, mindy suggests they separate & make it harder for the scare actors to catch up on them. the motion noises emanating from those cartoonish villains seem to indicate that they are controlled by someone, giving some sort of assurance that they can be tricked easily. the trio runs off separate ways, & mei ending up taking a cover within the shadows. the cartoons & skeleton begin to emit disturbing noises to psyche the trio out — eventually causing nerves to rise. as mei grows more and more agitated, a hand lurches to grab her shoulder, and she swings out of fear, landing a precise, accidental hit to mindy, or B ) the trio decides fighting back is the best choice. ash manages to bring down one monster, revealing that they are indeed puppeteered — somewhat relieved and challenged by this, the group decides to take them down one by one. however, mei loses their balance when attempting to land a strike, causing them to topple over and be the sole target of the cartoons. the cartoons overpower them, with ash & mindy coming into the rescue to peel them off. ash is faltered by the blood in his eyes, while mindy reaches them first. disturbed & unnerved, mei swings her axe wildly to get them all off, with one strike hitting mindy. CHOICE SELECTED : B.
SCARE ZONE 5 ... FARAH, JONGHYEON, & AVA.
THE MORTICIAN BECOMES THE DECEASED : two have broken away from their original group, at ava's behest to drag jonghyeon into the lower floor of the abandoned hospital which once belonged to anchorage regional that they were walking through. separating & descending downward, they are astounded to find a singular light is on & swinging perilously above their heads as it outlines a figure lying bereft under a tarp. thinking it is part of the act, jonghyeon decides to pull the tarp back & ava lets out a blood-curdling scream. underneath the sheet, farah is splayed horizontally on the metal table, with their lips meticulously sewn shut. as the cosmetologist's scream rings out through the room, farah's eyes snap open wide & frantically motions her eyes back & forth to behind the pair. a disembodied saw swings down from the ceiling on the same chain as the light, directly toward them.
SET ONE CHOICES : A ) ava & jonghyeon selfishly dive out of the way, as the giant saw collides with the table & sends it crashing to the ground, narrowly avoiding gutting farah clean open. they recover from the shock & begin trying to undo the straps holding her to the table, only to realize they are soldered down with metallic screws, or B ) the two are frozen to the spot & the saw nicking jonghyeon's arm & opening a large gash that begins to gush blood slows its speed enough that it swings back in the opposite direction & try to push the table farah is pinned down to out of its path. CHOICE SELECTED : B.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) farah falls to the floor, frantically looking around & trying to find the strength to rouse themselves back up. while scouring through the dark basement with the sound of the saw furious overhead, they find switch that controls the swinging buzzsaw to slow the saw but it does not halt entirely. unable to stand, farah is incapable of helping them further. the saw seems to regain its speed on its own, putting danger on both ava & jonghyeon. it swings a few more times, once colliding with ava's left shoulder & striking her, before farah manages to crawl towards the device & attempts to grab it with their bare hands to prevent it from moving. once over, they carry farah out of the room, or B ) farah falls, but jonghyeon & ava manage to narrowly navigate around the saw & find the switch to stop it — they begin helping farah to their feet. however, the lightbulb goes out entirely for a full minute. when the light returns, they are surrounded with faceless mannequins, mouths sewn, except they're all staring & tilting their heads, following the trio's direction. each has a number plastered on the skin with a paper, numbers seemingly from 1-32. they don't move, nor attack the trio. as jonghyeon & ava pick farah to exit the room, number 33 is revealed to be plastered on farah's back as well. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SCARE ZONE 6 ... NAJI & HIROKAZU.
THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN : oh yeah, you weren't supposed to be part of the game, were you ? the two are wandering the pumpkin patch on their own prerogative when they all intersect & discover an enormous & abnormal pumpkin protruding from the ground. a face has already been carved into it, hanging downward on one side with pumpkin guts leaking out through its illuminated eyes. an eerie, sizzling sound like an egg on a hot griddle top emanates from the ginormous pumpkin, and naji suggests that it sounds like a ticking time bomb. not a second after the thought is spoken, the swollen pumpkin erupts and pumpkin guts spray everywhere as they are all sent flying in different directions. all around the three, the pumpkins begin to pop off one by one, & the signposts for exiting the pumpkin patch have fallen over.
SET ONE CHOICES : A ) one of the pumpkins appears to begin crawling toward hirokazu using its green tendrils, its face molting the hotter that it gets. a green spine wraps itself around kaz's knee & as it starts to slide up his leg, naji dives in in the nick of time & uses one of the pickets from the pumpkin patch to launch the pumpkin in the opposite direction. it explodes mid-air, or B ) hirokazu is hardly dazed from falling in the dirt, but unable to foresee a way out of the pumpkin patch, he approaches a scarecrow with a cat jack-o-lantern for a head. as he tries to gauge the direction to go from the wind through its carved mouth, its hands suddenly move, closing around his throat, & naji must decide whether to rescue him. CHOICE SELECTED : A.
SET TWO CHOICES : A ) the pumpkin explodes & shatters into the ground — however, a blood-like substance begins to ooze from the remnants that are lying on the ground, & red fire ants begin crawling out of its overturned contents, seemingly & mysteriously unharmed by the explosion. the horde of ants are skittering towards hirokazu with the intention to sting. naji manages to disentangle the pumpkin's tendril from kaz's knee, & then the two run as fast as possible with the bugs trailing behind as they rush towards the exit, or B ) the explosions only accomplish awakening a plethora of abnormal, swollen pumpkins; two emerge from the grounds & on opposite ends of their path, trapping them all in the patch. with nowhere to go, they have no choice but to work together for their own survival. after the initial pandemonium, though, naji realizes that the explosions are timed & risks tossing one of the pumpkins onto the other to destroy them. after successfully doing so, they join in together to toss pumpkins on top of each other & the vegetation eventually ceases to detonate, but no one can be sure when they will begin again. the two quickly look for the exit before they can test fate. CHOICE SELECTED : B.

If Bernard had known what he was getting into when he set out to investigate the centuries-old conspiracy in Gotham, he'd probably… nah, whoever he's trying to kid, he would have done it anyway.
or a little unfinished drabble about Timbern where Bernard is a conspiracy theorist and Tim is the conspiracy.

Listen, Bernard loves his conspiracy theories.
The idea of uncovering secrets that have been jealously hidden, the act of knowing, of knowing something that few others do gives him a sense of fulfillment that few other things achieve.
He knows that most of the time what he finds is garbage, carefully planted to divert attention and entertaining enough to keep him distracted at times, his attention captured momentarily before he returns to the hunt.
But there is no way his attention can be taken for long before he returns to the path he has laid out for himself. The path he decided on when, at the age of ten, he was saved from the white, green and red jaws of death by that little feathered monster in red and black.
Robin (The third).
He remembers it clearly, even as other memories of his childhood fade and are gradually lost among the recesses of his brain, even as he cannot, for the life of him, remember what birthday present his parents gave him that year or the address of the house in which he lived the first years of his life.
He distinctly remembers walking to the store just a couple of blocks away to buy a ice popsicle with a couple of loose change he found in the washing machine. A heat wave was stalking Gotham and his parents forbade him to turn on the air conditioning until they got home to save electricity. He remembers being on his way back from the store savoring his prize, when someone had grabbed his free hand and started pulling him toward the alley.
"Junior, son" he remembers the voice, mocking, sour and frightening "Let's go home to mommy."
He remembers letting go of the ice popsicle from fright, trying to free himself and yelling at the figure that his name was not "Junior" and to let go, only to be met with a face that still haunts his most terrifying nightmares to this day.
The wax doll-like face, white and bony, his green eyes glowing and a smile of yellow, rotting teeth framed by red lips that opened far wider than human faces allow.
He remembers screaming for help and being mysteriously ignored as the alley grew closer and the terrifying monster's grin grew bigger and bigger.
"We'll be a happy family, you'll see Junior" the thing hummed and Bernard had felt himself about to vomit when the smell of something very rotten hit his nose and made his eyes water with disgust and not just fear "Just a few fixes and you'll be my perfect child."
Remembers the door that appeared at the end of the alley. It was painted in bright, festive colors, with stars and colorful balloons painted on the frame, identical to what a funhouse would look like. The door had opened, letting him see a black, slimy tunnel inside, and at ten years old he knew from the bottom of his heart that if he went in there, he would never come out again.
He remembers crying out loud and biting his captor's arm (he would never forget the taste of rotting flesh in his mouth) as he was slowly dragged toward the open door that was not far from a mouth preparing to swallow him.
Then he saw it.
A black and red shadow that threw itself from the roof screeching a war cry, landing on the kidnapper and severing the arm that held him with a jagged slash of its razor sharp claws. Bernard fell on his backside as he witnessed his attacker being turned into sticky mush that seeped between the alley drains, flooding the whole place with an indescribable odor.
He remembers to turn around and vomit up the contents of his stomach.
He didn't realize how much time had passed until he felt a hand tentatively stroking his back, trying to soothe him.
The bird boy (as he would call him until he discovered the legend of Robin) stayed there until he could breathe properly and had calmed down enough for them to get him away from the alley and the rotting mass they had left behind.
The bird boy was about his age. His body was a mixture of bird and human. The most striking features of his appearance were the red wings on his back and his legs, deformed to resemble those of birds, ending in long, strong, twisted fingers with claws, which he had smashed Bernard's kidnapper.
Robin covered him with those wings and comforted him, carrying him to the door of his house, while assuring him that he was safe.
"Don't go out alone from now on" the bird boy had warned him pointing at him with one of its black talons "That will find another corpse to inhabit and might come after you again if you caught its eye" there was a movement and the creature was perched on one of the light poles that lit the entrance to Bernard's building "Take care of yourself, child"
"Bernard" had managed to get that one word out of his mouth at the end of their interaction.
It had brought a smile to Robin's face.
"Take care, Bernard."
When the boy bird finally took off, Bernard found himself holding an ice pop of the same flavor he had dropped. Even to this day, the sense of security that coursed through him every time he thought of his rescuer was strong.
And he never forgot him.
And even better, he never stopped looking.
And now another ten years in the future, he is very close to finding it.
Bernard moves slowly and plugs another piece of red wool into his board.
The entire view of his room is a jumble of photographs, documents (all written down, to avoid virtual espionage) and maps of the city.
all connecting perfectly to give him the answer he have been looking for.
The red threads are tightly entangled and connected in the center of his board over the Wayne family photograph.
Or rather, the former protectors of the city.

just like. god i can't figure out how to articulate it, but i have very little faith that the second fnaf movie will turn out Good in the same way the first one was? for the same reason the charlie trilogy ate itself alive: it blew its load on the first installment and now has to wiggle its way out of it. like, the problem with the back half of the charlie trilogy is that the main villain is gone, they beat him, he's springtrap now! and the story must continue from that point, it requires a conflict to justify itself, but there are no antagonists on the board; springtrap is by nature on his back foot, all his power clawed back despite the odds... but that power isn't the same as what william afton wields, and that's the Big Problem, because where the fuck do you go when your primary villain is a guy trapped in a place unable to do anything? how do you start a game when you've played all your pieces?
it's the problem that tto found itself in: it needs to draw charlie back to freddy's, but you can't have a new freddy's open when the franchise is dead, and you can't have springtrap control the animatronics when they're either settled or detained, etc etc etc. so instead you have an entire book about getting afton back in a place where he can do, like, actual things, and not just loom over the narrative ominously -- and that's not inherently bad! i think tto does a pretty good job at what it has, and it's probably the one i had the best time reading overall because of its unique ideas and heavier mystery angle. but it's also the one that ends with classic freddy tearing apart a horde of balloon boys in the middle of a bloody battle royale in henry emily's secret psychedelic funhouse basement, so. you can kinda see how you eventually get tfc out of that.
and tfc is just, like, the end result of a dozen different drafts you've switched through in a couple of months with no time for anyone to ask you what the fuck you're doing. most of it doesn't make sense, it's paced like shit, the main character gets fridged, it retcons the retcons made in tto, contradicts itself all the fucking time and -- perhaps the most emblematic of how obviously it wasn't planned -- afton just crawls out of the springtrap suit and is afton now, with an entire scene dedicated to how that was dumb and stupid and they're doing this now. complete with... a new freddy's joint and animatronics! (you didn't think i was pulling those examples out of my ass, did you?)
it's the kind of writing you get when you're too scared to introduce a new antagonist and when you don't have anyone to tell you that an idea is bad, which is -- funnily enough -- the exact same problem with frights, and pre-mimic steel wool era (and post-mimic cataclysm, i gotta be honest), and it's a problem that's very difficult to solve when you're stuck in a situation like this. thankfully, it's one that's made much easier when you have additional support to lend their ideas! it's... just a question of whether that support is allowed at all.
tldr please pray that they keep smacking scott's hands away from the SURPRISE ROBOT button

"I wish these teeth were real." Berrie said, prodding the fake fangs Siv had helped her apply.
"No you don't, then you'd look like Eoland all the time." Siv said with a snort, adjusting the cape of their own costume.
"Maybe I want to, you don't know." Berrie countered, baring his teeth in the mirror. "Should I swap out my smiley piercing? I want double fangs."
"It'd just cover the other fangs up." Siv argued. "C'mon, let's get going."
The moment they'd left the building, Berrie made a beeline for the Halloween carnival, buzzing with excitement and ready to eat her weight in sugar.
"Funhouse or cotton candy? Ooh or the mirror maze! Look, there's a hayride and they're selling those giant Pixi Sticks!" Berrie said, talking a mile a minute.
"You're going to end up swallowing one of those fangs." Siv teased, but their smile showed she was happy to indulge Berrie's enthusiasm.
"A haunted house, let's go!" Berrie said, grabbing Siv's hand and pulling her along behind him.
Berrie and Siv entered the haunted house, both eager to be spooked. Siv wasn't particularly impressed with the low budget frights but Berrie jumped and squealed at every scare. By the last room, Berrie was clinging onto Siv's arm and practically hiding behind them.
"It's not that scary." Berrie said but his voice was muffled as his face was hidden in the back of Siv's shoulder.
"Then why are you hiding? Come on, it's the last room. Then we can go get candy." Siv coaxed, tugging Berrie along slowly through the dimly lit room.
Berrie slowly removed his hands from Siv's arm and took two more hesitant steps forward, peering around with wide, hazel eyes. As soon as he saw there was nothing to fear, he broke into a fit of giggles and then bolted for the exit.

Fazbear Frights
Dr. Rabbit
Gregory peered through the grimy window of the abandoned strip mall, his heart pounding like a jackhammer. This place had an eerie reputation, especially since the incidents at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. But he needed to find something here, something that could help him understand what had happened to his friends.
As he cautiously pushed open the rusted door, a wave of dust and decay assaulted his senses. The air felt heavy with secrets long buried. Gregory swallowed hard, pushing down the fear that threatened to paralyze him.
His flashlight flickered to life, casting long shadows on the cracked linoleum floor. The sound of his footsteps echoed in the empty corridor, making him jump at every creak and groan.
Gregory scanned each storefront, searching for any clue that could lead him to the truth. That's when he spotted it—a faded sign that read "Dr. Rabbit's Funhouse."
Curiosity mingled with dread as Gregory approached the entrance. The once vibrant colors of the sign had faded to a sickly hue, and the gaping maw of the rabbit's mouth seemed to leer at him menacingly.
Steeling himself, Gregory pushed open the door and stepped into the darkness beyond. The air was thick with the smell of mildew and something far worse.
His flashlight swept over the dilapidated carnival games and faded posters plastered on the walls. There was something unsettling about the way the eyes of the cartoon characters seemed to follow him.
As he ventured deeper into the funhouse, Gregory's sense of unease grew. It was as if the very walls were closing in on him, suffocating him with their silent malevolence.
Suddenly, a noise shattered the oppressive silence—a low, guttural growl that seemed to reverberate through the very foundation of the building. Gregory froze, his heart hammering in his chest.
He turned slowly, his flashlight illuminating the source of the sound. Standing before him was a grotesque creature—a twisted amalgamation of man and machine, its eyes glowing with a sinister light.
Panic surged through Gregory's veins as he stumbled backward, his mind reeling with terror. This was no ordinary animatronic—it was something far more sinister, something beyond comprehension.
With a primal instinct, Gregory turned and fled, his footsteps echoing through the darkened corridors. Behind him, he could hear the creature's unearthly howls growing louder with each passing moment.
He burst through the door, his lungs burning with exertion as he raced into the night. He didn't stop until he was a safe distance away, his heart still pounding in his ears.
As he caught his breath, Gregory knew one thing for certain—he had stumbled upon something far more sinister than he could have ever imagined. And whatever secrets lay hidden within Dr. Rabbit's Funhouse, he was determined to uncover them, no matter the cost.

/ oh yes spoilers for ruin below one of the many secrets in the game so you've been warned if you want to go looking for secrets. BIG SPOILERS TOO SO AVOID.
The blob appears very briefly in chapter 1 blink and you miss it. But it got me thinking though I have a verse here for Blobby it's more in the same vein that some William muns have a Burntrap verse still too. I feel like because Funfred and the gang actually left their bodies via scooper that this amalgamation is probably just collecting animatronic masks the same way mimic collects mascot costumes etc. But I like to think it's a mass of past souls/animatronics and is separate from Funfred. That being said it's wearing my pandas mask and he was last seen in the Pizza Place so he could still be apart of it.
It's kind of like in Count The Ways the main antagonist pulling all the strings at the end of the Frights novels was Eleanor. It's okay to ignore it if its more fun for you to do so. It's okay to still have a Burntrap verse for William even if you feel deflated by cannon that it may not be him. You can also perceive the mimic being slightly in a different part of the sinkhole as a blessing to see the Afton ending however you want. Funfred doesn't cannonly have a Funhouse or even appear other than on the Blob in Security Breach at all but I'm still doing this bs. The point is do as you will you're so creative just write what makes you happy
Same with Gregory. I don't hate him, I don't think people should hate him but if they do that's fine too, with all the vocal mimics around, not just the mimic can imitate by the way, it could have been anything you like or ended in anyway you want to perceive that's the beauty of FNAF. It's all shrouded in mystery.
I don't mind the mimic tricking Cassie though I saw it coming and I think a lot of people did.

Only the park is the home of an ancient force and an even deadlier presence, the very land itself bloodsoaked with a dark and violent history.
And all Supernaturals know that on All Hallows Eve, the veil between good and evil, the living and the dead, is at its weakest.
Can they survive long enough to find a way off the island, or will they be the next victims of Lake Cree?
