Soul Sentinel (Paladin Archetype)

 While all paladins are protectors in some form or another, some threats cannot be bested by sword and shield alone. It is the duty of the ones known as soul sentinels to protect others from evils that seek to warp the mind and soul.

Sinister enchanters, maddening cosmic horrors, and forces that seek to twist all they come into contact with, these are all the primary foes of a soul sentinel. However, while they do fight against such beings, their primary concern is the minds and bodies of those who have also come across them, be they fellow heroes, bystanders, or foolish sorts seeking power or knowledge in places they should have the sense to avoid.

Both on the battlefield and off, these paladins provide relief from the worst of the horrors that evil brings to bear, removing said conditions, or at least offering a temporary reprieve from them, enough to help administer greater aid.

 These holy warriors learn first how to heal a tormented mind, removing mental torment that causes erratic behavior with their ability to lay on hands. Even permanent confusion can be affected, but only suppressed for a short while.

Warded by divinity against foul magics, these paladins are totally immune to curses and hex magic. Like most other divine protections, they also help allies resist the same when nearby.

More powerful soul sentinels can even help those suffering from a corruption, suppressing the most recently developed weakness from that corruption, helping them feel like their old self again for a short while. Note that this ability applies both to those healed and those harmed by a lay on hands, which can be useful in helping those with undead-like corruptions stave them off.

A simple archetype, but one which can provide an edge in games where corruption, curses, and witchcraft serve as primary antagonists. You only replace two mercies and the ability to grant smite to allies, so aside from being slightly more defensive, you can use pretty much any build with it. I recommend a build focused on mercies, ally support, and healing though, to keep things thematic.

 Curses and corruption are no joke, so I can imagine that paladins of this archetype take their work very seriously, but also put on a soothing demeanor for those under their care. Their ability to suppress corruption in even foes turning undead is also a testimate to their mercy, but also to their opposition of necromantic forces.

  Stories say that dire corbies were once a sane race with wings and a glorious culture, most would agree that such times are long past. However, Meersha of Fullsky believes that it may be possible to rid them of their racial curse with a magical ritual, but only if one can approach them peacefully.

 It has been a week since a rock slide killed Lord Brennic, leaving the remote village without their guardian paladin. However, their troubles are only just beginning as one of the paladin’s wards, a young man named Tanner whom has been fighting against slow-acting lycanthropy, begins to succumb to the beast within.

 The Jungle Kingdom of Kyunaga is in the midst of civil war, the chaos naga and their nagaji witch servitors against the guardian naga. For their part, the goodly naga have been blessed with nagaji paladins immune to curses and able to aid those civilians caught in the crossfire, but for not, it is a stalemate.

Violet Sunset

A sunset from the end of October, an unforgettable one. I imagined that there would have been some colors in the sky, seeing the many clouds around, but I would have never imagined that for a couple of minutes the entire atmosphere would turn a surreal violet!

Unfortunately, I did not manage to take enough pictures to create a 360 degrees shot, or a fullsky one, but this six vertical shots pano can recreate adequately the atmosphere that surrounded me. For a little time, it seemed that the light of the sun had turned violet! A priceless experience.
