What happened to maiko fukunori of shigemori? Why did she retire?
I'm not too sure why she retired, but I guess she just didn't want to be a maiko anymore ^^;

Today in Miyagawacho: Misedashi of Maiko Fukunori from the Shigemori Okiya!
Fukunori has been around as a Shikomi for a long time, and here she finally is! That’s not really surprising though, Shigemori tends to keep their girls as Shikomi for around a year.
She is the first Maiko to debut from Shigemori in 3 years and 1 months, which has been a bit surprising to many, since Shigemori is quite a large and wealthy okiya, which used to have at least one Misedashi a year. However, slower periods are completely normal in the karyukai, and it seems to be looking up for Shigemori on that front, as they have at least two Shikomi who have been around for a longer time now.
Fukunori is the imouto of Shigemori’s most senior Geiko Fukuhiro, who had her Erikae over 7 years ago and has a lot of experience as an onee-san; Fukunori will already be her 5th imouto!
There is not much too say about Fukunori yet, as with most Maiko just starting out, other than that she has a pretty unique face that, in my opinion, will be quite easy to remember.
Congratulations on your Misedashi Fukunori, and all the best wishes for your career!

Minarai Fukunori (Shigemori okiya) at Maiko Theater She’s 16 years old and her misedashi will be due on February 21. When asked about the form of art she enjoys the most, she said that she likes to sing, so hopefully we’ll see her perform both as a dancer and musician in the future. Wish you all the best, Fukunori-san!

February 21st, 2019: Congratulations to Fukunori (ふく典) of Shigemori (しげ森) in Miyagawa Cho on the occasion of her misedashi! She is the fifth imōto of seasoned geiko Fukuhiro (ふく紘), also of Shigemori, and hopefully the first of more Shigemori girls to debut this year! She is the first example that I have logged so far that uses the very unique “典” kanji, so a great deal of though must have gone into her geimei in order to make her stand out! Her kuromontsuki features Kai Awase, a shell matching game, plum blossoms, bamboo, pine, and cypress fans that were commonly used by the nobility during the Heian Period. This tells us that the wearer is sophisticated and knowledgeable of these symbols, so Fukunori can wear them with pride and hope that their influence will rub off on her ^^ おめでとうさんどすふく典ちゃん ^o^! January 2019: Minarai Fukunori (Shigemori Okiya) of Miyagawacho performing Gion Kouta at an ozashiki.
At the beginning of their careers, Minarai and Maiko only know a few dances; their repertoire expands significantly over time. The most important basic dances are Gion Kouta and Kyo no Shiki.

Awww I’d hoped to see Fukunori again 😔 I wish her well.
Now that Fukunori has retired Fukusono is Shigemori's most senior maiko, correct? Do you know the order of seniority for the rest of the maiko?
Yes, Fukusono is the most senior. After her comes Kohatsu and Kotsuru, Fukuyū, Fukunagi, and Koyori ^^

I can't believe Koyori quit so soon. She's the third Shigemori maiko to leave in the last two years. Shigemori is known to have a high success rate with their maiko. What happened to make Koyori, Fukumomo and Fukunori quit?
I know that Fukumomo found that the life of a maiko just didn't suit her, so she left to actually work at the Shigemori bar instead. I'm not too sure if she's still there, but she did enjoy her time in the karyukai. As for Fukunori and Koyori, I can't really say what made them quit, but sometimes it just doesn't work out ^^

Is there some sort of relationship between Shigemori and Kawayoshi? I was watching a video of Shin Aisatsu (?) in Miyagawacho and it looked like Fukunori and Fukusono were walking with Fukuno, Fukukana and the other Fuku maiko.
The Fuku- maiko and geiko of Kawayoshi and Shigemori share a common onesan (Fukuhiro of Shigemori and Fukue of Kawayoshi were both imōto of Fukuemi), so it makes sense that their imōto and their imōto's imōto would walk together ^^

Has there been any update recently on maiko Fukunori of Shigemori Okiya? I read a few months ago that she was away on a break, but since then I haven’t heard anything on her, or seen her in any maikotheater posts or videos. Do you know if she’s still with the okiya?
As far as I know she is still with them but is still on break.
