at this point I'm adding genshin to my blacklist honestly

"ooooo cursor got mad because Sonic didn't win" partially,, but I'm mad because most genshin fans (of course not all of them) literally did what they did because they wanted a prize to fuel their gacha addiction instead of genuine love for their game,, genshin got 2 other nominations that they could have won if they didn't center only on player's choice,, frontiers only got one,, and they only wanted to show they loved the game and wanted it to get the respect it deserved after 10 literal years without a game this magnitude,, but genshin only wanted the primogems,, something that wasn't even confirmed

tl;dr,, genshin won an award they didn't deserve,, a win only made by interest and not actual passion,, I'm not saying the Sonic fandom wasn't toxic at times about it,, but i still find it unfair by my standards

(edit) okok in case it's not clear genshin fans can still interact,, i just need genshin to be tagged with my blacklist tag from now on and i don't want to get into the game in case everyone thought it was on my dni now

By the way, this is probably a question you answer a lot, and I am sorry if I am right in thinking that lmao, but how long have you been actively building your skills for?

it’s actually been a while since anyone’s asked me this so dw hahah

i’d say since my … junior year of college (~4 years). that year i started playing Fire Emblem Heroes, which is a mobile gacha game based on the FE series. i was supremely obsessed with the game, leading to me drawing the characters often. i wanted to be a little involved in the subreddit for the fandom so i started posting my art there and was super surprised by the positive feedback and cool community. back then i didn’t have an iPad (my current drawing tablet) so everything i did was traditional watercolor. and it kind of just takes off from there. fueled by love from the subreddit and my own love of the game i spent a lot of time drawing. eventually over time i got an iPad and was using the Procreate app as my medium instead.

i do want to stress that i don’t believe the tools are necessarily what improved my skillset, bc while Procreate is a fantastic drawing app the fact that i could easily pull out an iPad to do complex drawings anywhere at anytime helped me more than the technlology.

anyways, i’ve been actively improving my art that way. i will say that drawing has always been my interest and talent even when i was really young, but back then it was purely a hobby. once i started socializing my work and finding passion in a lot of different fandoms it became super easy to focus my time and energy towards art and taking myself seriously as an artist, which i think was the most critical success factor in building my skillset.

so sorry anon, i could have simply answered the # of years i’ve been doing this!!! ヽ(；▽；) i tend to overexplain when i want to help ppl…
