From that day forward, his battle cry was no longer “CAST OFF” but rather “CAST ON” and he changed the name of his Longboat from “The Pearl” to “The Purl”. Knut never returned to Stavanger, but rather, he moved to Edinborough, where he joined the Wednesday afternoon knitting club and where his fellow knitters affectionately refer to him as “KNUT the KNITTER”. Knut’s adventures had far-reaching impact. His daughter claims, to anyone who will listen, that the Vikings invented knitting. We are so pleased to introduce to you Knut the Knitter. PART 1 In the beginning…..Knut started his adult life as a bloodthirsty psychopath. Captain of the Longboat, The Pearl, filled with unwashed viking marauders with a voracious appetite for mayhem. The Pearl plied the turbulent waters of the North Sea on raiding missions between it’s home port of Stavanger and the jagged granite coastline of Scotland. During his encounters with the locals, Knut was often overheard commenting on how well his victims were attired before running his trusty blodöx (axe) through their natty argyle vests. PART 2 Knut the Knitter One day, on a raiding mission, Knut encountered a wizened, badly stooped crone and was about to run her through, when she commanded “Stop! I have heard of you, Knut, and well know of your desire to acquire unbloodied, unripped, high quality knit goods, and I can show you how you can get all you want without killing any more of my fellow countryfolk. I have a kagillion ends to weave in, and then time for a good soak and block, but this #fadedpointwrap is done! And boy, is it huge! I am going to need to stand on a ladder to get it all in one pic later! It is so cozy, this was knit in Seawall Fibres pumice which is a single ply 100% superwash merino yarn that is so soft, you would think it had cashmere or silk in it! I was a bit worried as each skein is 400yds but @jojilocat is bang on with her yardage! So might put some of these special single ply fades in the shop later!
