I would ... with all my heart for 3 more seasons. I would fight by your side...

An open letter to Netflix

Hello,

I’m writing in the hope that this email isn’t lost to some useless inbox somewhere. I’m very upset that Sense8 has been cancelled. This is my third email and even if they are being ignored, it still feels good to vent a little into the void. I would like the idea of Sense8 season 3 to be put back on the table. I pay for a service that provides me with content I want to watch. I want to watch Sense8 and it seems like a reasonable request to get a future for the show and characters I love.

I have been browsing tumblr and I have seen some posts that make me feel very strongly that Netflix has made a mistake in cancelling the show. I was going to attach some in here but it contains (maybe well deserved) profanity towards Netflix. The gist of it is that the show was not given the chance it deserved and it was a very poor show of the Netflix corporation that the show makers and cast were not warned of the imminent cancellation before the axe was dropped.

Also, how can the Netflix Twitter page possible say that the viewership was too low for a third season when the second season was only available for 25 days before the show was cancelled. Your logic is terrible. You need to give these things a chance. I don’t always watch content the week it is released especially in the months of May and June when I (and many other younger viewers) have exams. You also need to make more of an effort in publicity. This cancellation is wholly due to Netflix and their poor marketing and not due to the creators, actors or viewers. Its disgraceful.

You state that you “don’t like leaving a story unfinished”, but that is exactly what is being done.

I apologise if I’m being harsh in saying these things but I feel very strongly that the show deserves to be continued. As says a quote from another brilliant production of the Wachowskis “Why do they hate us so much?”.

In the hopes that this email is read and considered, I wish you my best.

How ODDAT portrays teenagers/teenage relationships

- they aren’t overtly sexualized, dress their age, and act the ways most normal teenagers act

- their relationship does involve sex- but any mention of it is about issues of consent and understanding healthy relationships. Also, no overly sexual aspects of their relationship is showed on screen BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CHILDREN

Now for Riverdale characters who are THE EXACT SAME AGE as Elena and Syd

- promotes unrealistic body standereds

- overly sexulizes characters who are under 18

- shows teenage sex on screen involving strip teases for grown ass men, pedophilia (in the first damn episode), and BDSM elements

Essentially- Elena ans Syd were made for teens to relate to and to see themselves in. Like all aspects of ODAAT the teenaged characters are diverse, struggle with real problems, and represent realistic expectations for teenagers to look and act.

However, Riverdale is meant to sexualize teenage characters and fosters many harmful expectations in its young audience.

So, WHY is Riverdale being renewed again and ODAAT isn’t??

Imagine how much sweeter the development would’ve been between those men if we’d gotten more seasons 

I know! It’s clear to me now in retrospect that the writers have been setting up Rajalagang (or whatever the cool kids are calling the ship) throughout Season 2, and I want to rewatch with that in mind. Two moments that read differently with hindsight, off the top of my head, are Rajan getting an apartment with a pool – after Wolfgang’s pool scene at the wedding and Kala swimming in the waters off Positano, it establishes a swimming motif among all three of them – and, especially, the moment in S2 where Rajan kisses Kala while Wolfgang is sharing with her, and he beams up at Rajan with a huge grin on his face.

I think the writers had an epic polyamorous romance planned and they did their best to cram it into two and a half hours, and I think they did a really good job given all that.
