probably the funniest thing i ever did as a kid was try to convince anyone who'd listen to me infodump about my favorite media that my ocs were actual canon characters in the story and then if they expressed genuine interest in checking it out i'd panic and be like no you Can't and just never speak to them again

I know the Fallout TV show wanted to have a cool bombs dropping moment/scene but in all likelihood the West Coast would’ve had advanced warning before the bombs dropped or they would’ve dropped around 6 am bc on the East Coast they dropped at 9:40 something.

The people at the birthday party in the show are watching the news on tv and listening to it on the radio so it’s not like everyone at the birthday party was just tuned out and they didn’t realize they were getting advanced warning, there was no warning at all even though we know the bombs dropped on the East Coast first. Plus, there’s sirens all over the city that would have gone off even if the ppl weren’t listening to the news. I feel like that’s one inconsistency that the show had with the games that is not talked about as much.

We know that the bombs hit the East Coast first around 9:40 which would have been 5:40 West Coast time so why would they drop during this party which seems to be taking place in the middle of the day or at least late morning and why would the news station and the radio which were both talking about national news not have been warning people about the bombs actively dropping on the other side of the country? It’s a total lore dismissal of the games.

Also Vault Tec received an early warning before the citizens of America knew about the bombs dropping. It’s mentioned in the Vault 111 terminal they got less of a warning than they thought they would but wouldn’t Barbara Howard, one of the higher-ups at Vault Tec, get that warning and be blowing up the phone of the person whose kid’s birthday party it was? There’s a possibility that she didn’t have time but I don’t know, she tried so fucking hard for years to get her family together in a “management” vault. It doesn’t seem like she’d give up right at the last moment. We still don’t know what happened to her or Janey so I guess we’ll see in season 2.

sylus really has me wondering if he even has a heart in his chest at all? I mean, with his current form, there is some dialogue that suggests that there is something beating in there — maybe it's some sort of fake heart that was put there (this may be a stretch)?

my doubts about him having a real heart stems from two things — 1) the knowledge that his current form isn't his real form and 2) the fact that he didn't die from being shot in the heart and can regenerate from his injuries when it is night time and has made multiple allusions to not being able to die. the dialogue above suggests that maybe he does have a heart in there, but then there are also these lines that he says??

the first two lines he says here could be interpreted as him meaning that he's never been scared or excited before, but I can't find myself agreeing with it due to his tone of voice. I think he wouldve came off as more arrogant like a "heh, I wonder what THAT feels like 😼" with cockiness in his tone, instead of the "I wonder what that feels like... 😮‍💨" with a visible longing in his voice

his heart being a fake/imitation would also explain why his heartbeats are so irregular and high, as it would not function how a real heart normally does, as well as the fact that he still breathes perfectly fine after being shot directly in the heart (which then begs the question of how he even breathes, or if he even needs oxygen to begin with)

and then there's this line?? I'm probably over thinking it, but this line could either mean 1) a more likely conclusion of the plants being unable to produce oxygen due to the environmental conditons of the N109 zone (which it is true that plants arent able to thrive in the N109 zone as told in sylus' myth), or 2) they are unable to produce oxygen around him due to sylus not being able to produce any carbon dioxide when he exhales, as that is something produced by humans and animals which would ultimately exclude him

some could argue that sylus does have a real heart inside him and that in this scene he just regenerated his heart wound, but I just can't agree because his regeneration speed would have to be LIGHTNING fast to recover from being shot in the heart, and from what we've seen from this scene and when his cheek was nicked by MC with the knife, there's a visible delay between how long the injury lingers and the recovery + he also purposefully lowers the gun from where MC intended to shoot him in the head to where his heart is, which THEN makes me wonder if he can die from being shot in the head and through his brain.. and then it also makes me wonder what would happen if he was shot in the heart while under the sun?? would he die instantly or would he just recover extremely slowly?? sigh, this man is just so complicated

this isn't even including the amount of times that sylus just straight up says that he's heartless man,,

I also think that sylus longs to have a real heart, as it is hinted at in the 2nd image that I show here, as well as the fact that he probably doesn't view himself as someone capable of human emotion since he does not qualify as a human, and wants to feel in the way that humans do, plus he most likely views himself as a heartless monster (excluding but as well as in a literal sense) and therefore he believes that he is lacking something to be sensitive, even tho he is already a sensitive person and does not realise it 🥺

this bit is also a stretch, but what if his "real heart" lies in MC? we know that sylus has referred to us and him as "being the same", and that we are "two kindred spirits", and that they both have aether cores implanted in them

sylus also suggests that we have some sort of debt that we have to pay him and that we owe him our life, which could mean that we owe him our own/his heart?

but if our heart does belong to him, how did we even end up with it to begin with? and does this mean we have to die for him eventually? or if he has to take MC's life like how MC took his (though I dont actually know if he died during that scene as he is still capable of grabbing MC's hand in his as theyre holding the sword in his chest, but he either couldve died shortly after and was possibly reborn or he was temporarily subdued by the sword)? maybe the reason sylus is unable to die is beacuse we have his heart?

I didn't really think that last part through all that much, but hopefully there will be some more clues/hints down the line that suggest to something similar to what I'm trying to say

ANON PLS 😭 Wdym fragile reader isn't canon I literally saw them in the game yesterday 🙄 !! They literally were cured of their illness (only for a little while though) and had their own boss fight and then became a playable support character with no vision!! One of fragile reader’s idles is squeezing the Foxttore creature to death!! (They use it in their gameplay too) And then fragile reader and Dottore have an appearance together in Sumeru for the Akademiya Extravaganza event!! (only because you wanted to relive the memories from hundreds of years ago, from afar of course) Ugh and then after the event is over Traveler has to search the map to find your hiding spot for some extra secret dialogue! 🙏 And then for your story quest it's you and Dottore centered of course, Traveler and you manage to enter a dream where you revisit the Akademiya from hundreds of years ago to see your past all over again!! (i have many many lore thoughts that i keep to myself)

And here he is; The talk of the town, the kittypet behind this all, the one who connects all these cats. At first glance, he may seem harmless. And he probably would be, if there wouldn't be some strange spirits, constantly whispering in his ear... But why is he doing all of this? Well, when he met a gentle, nice clancat, he felt like as if his life had been changed... Only for her to see him as a simple one night stand. And somehow this woke up something inside him; An ancient, instinctical desire for the "freedom" of being a clancat... Who knew that the yew bushes in his owner's garden would push him so close to his goal?

First, he met Sun and Moon. They were regulars at his garden, constantly picking berries, no one knew why. Until one day, Chester gathered all his courage, and told them that the bushes are his. The strangers seemed puzzled, but after a few silent glances, they asked him; What could they do, for him to allow them to keep picking berries? Well, Chester had quite a few ideas. But he decided to go with the one that some strange, broken figured suggested to him in a dream; He decided to ask them to join "the Clan", and spy on them for him. He didn't know that SunClan was not the only Clan, and neither did the rogues. So they joined LeafClan, told him everything they saw and heard. He wasn't quite satisfied, but he kept his promise to them.

Then he met CinnamonCloud, a clancat who was way too far away from her own territory. Only CrystalClan knows what she was looking for, but she found Chester. And Chester, who recognised her from the stories his pals told him earlier, and told her that he has exactly what she might be looking for. CinnamonCloud, as always, was cautious of him... But curious as well. So she decided to do as he says; Keep an especially close eye on SunClan.

And lastly, he met BrambleRoar. Another clancat, who was certainly upset about something he did not want to talk about. Refusing to talk to Chester, he immediately jumped through the fence, and rushed towards the yew bushes. But this time, the kittypet catched up to him to stop him, and demanded to know why is everyone so interested by the bushes. And after the warrior, slightly annoyed, explained the purpose of so-called "deathberries" to him, a whole new room of possibilities opened up before his eyes... And with that, he offered BrambleRoar this unlimited supply of yew berries, in exchange for a teeny-weeny small thing; A chance to talk with the kits he just found out about.

Earlier this week, I said that I wanted to go back and change a few details in CTB to accommodate an idea I had been previously on the fence about committing to. I am happy to say that I finally went in and fixed all the little details I wanted.

I don't want anyone to feel forced to reread any part of CTB, so here's what I'll do. I'll list out the chapters where the changes were made above the cut. Below the cut, I'll go into detail about those changes were. Then I'll go into more detail about why I needed to make those changes (which will definitely contain some oblique spoilers for future chapters).

Please note that you absolutely do not need to even read what the changes are. This won't really change anything you've already read. I did all of this for my personal peace of mind.

Chapter 11:

When Warriors is searching for an earring to give to Wind, he finds a signet ring in his jewelry box. Here is the full passage:

He shuffled through each little section of the jewelry box, sorting through heirloom necklaces and bracelets. At the bottom, buried under a necklace made with fake pearls, was a signet ring. He pulled it out, holding it up to the light. The edges of the ring were ornately carved, swirls of vines leading up to an emblem of an golden octopus. He thumbed over the design. He forgot he had this: a memento from a nameless, old flame. Did his old flame come by the house while Warriors was gone and find no one there? When was the last time Warriors even thought of that man? He was getting distracted now. He shoved the signet ring back into the jewelry box, then started sorting through his smaller gift boxes to no avail.

Chapter 20:

Clarified that while Warriors had seen some foreigners with white freckles before, he never realized it was exclusively a Faovarian trait.

There is also a tiny moment where it is suggested that Icarius recognizes Warriors:

He twisted his head around, catching sight of a very tall man around the same age as him. He too wore the same uniform as the boy, but his hair was dark and unruly. Even his freckles took up more of his face, seeming to fall like dust down his neck. His eyes met Warriors's and, for a brief moment, Warriors swore he saw his lips part like he was about to say something. But just as quickly, he turned his face away, quick to meet the boy's gaze.

Chapter 23:

A series of minor details concerning Icarius.

Chapter 24:

Twilight asking Warriors if he's met Nephus before leads to him realizing he trusts Icarius and speculating if he's met Icarius before:

[...] Warriors didn’t know if that meant he could trust Icarius either.  Yet, illogically, he did. He trusted Icarius without question. He knew it wasn't because he felt sorry for him. There was something else nagging at the back of his brain, though he couldn't say what it was. Maybe they had met before.

Why These Changes Were Made

When plotting out this last third of the story, I knew I had to be careful with what I chose to focus on, lest the story ended up being another 500K words long. In the many cuts I made to this back end of the story, I thought I could get away with leaving the House of Nephus characters mysterious.

Unfortunately, I was wrong. You guys are really interested in learning more about them, especially Icarius. So I've been looking for a way to give you guys more in-story information about them without ruining the pacing.

I've also been working on refining my ideas for chapter 26. That's going to be a.... clusterfuck of a chapter in every sense of the word, so I've been looking for ways to condense plot points.

My solution? I realized that I could replace a one-off original character in a preplanned plotline with Icarius. Doing so will allow me to still give Link an important moment of character growth while giving Icarius some much needed screen time.

But as you can guess from the "old flame" line... it's a small role that is now ten times more important by virtue of the character who plays it having both a name and earlier plot significance.

It wouldn't make sense for the story to have gone on this long without mentioning someone so significant to Warriors's past. As a longtime reader, you would think this brand new connection between these characters would have come out of left field.

Hence, I had to go in and adjust a few things so that future readers wouldn't be disappointed by shoddy writing.

And give me credit where it's due: it took less than a hundred words for me to fix the problem. Not only that, but I think my solution was rather elegant. Imagine being a new reader and seeing the signet ring with the octopus on it, only to see the octopus symbol appear chapters later on the battlefield. Insane for them. I hope they have fun with that.
