I am thinking about rapunzel a bit. How many times has she had to go back to the tower shes been in. And how many times did she try to talk with the Witch. How quickly did she learn the easiest ways to appease her while she had to relearn her hair manipulation. How many times did her Witch catch her learning to manipulate her hair. I think needed to go back to the person who abused you over and over and over again, learned the quickest way to pretend that everythings okay and that Yes, Anything For You Mother, knowing you have to build yourself up again, brick by brick - or you get a Prince who cannot comprehend that you might want nothing to do with him. You’re on a clock between your StepWitch, your Prince, or Yourself. All within a single tower, perhaps a single room. How often does it take years before you can actually DO something, to actually step foot outside and begin the REAL work in the neverafter. How many lives has she lived

Hey, at least Sam and Jade are locked away, so it's not like we have to worry about being chased. Along with Kinito busy being all goo-goo with Owl, I'd say we have pretty good chances right now!
Say, Sonny... How many of those codes are we looking for, anyways?

16 or 36 for anything you feel like writing currently! :D
Trying out some different formats. Hope it’s legible. Fair warning that I got way too carried away with ‘total control’, so it’s under a cut.
16. in dreams
Journal, Lincoln, 1st person.
Keep havin’ weird dreams. Can’t explain them very well, all I know is I keep scaring the hell outta a few of the guys when I jolt up. Davis suggested I see the Chaplain ‘bout it. Pretty sure it’s not demons, so unless he’s got holy-water-melatonin, I don’t think he can help.
One of the dreams is about Danny and Nicki arguin’ over their old man’s body. Cancer or poisoning or something of the like. Not sure why I’m there at all, I just am. Both keep beggin’ me for an answer. I can’t. Someone’s cut out my tongue and noises don’t help. He’s dead, they’re arguing, I can’t do anythin’.
Father said something offhandedly in a letter about my nightmares being chronic. Happened when I was a kid, stopped for whatever reason, an’ now they’re back. Never told him I was having any, but that’s Father for you. He jus’ knows things. Didn’t tell Sammy or Ellis though, both seem to think I’m fine. Not sayin’ I’m not. Just don’t think it’s worth tellin’ them, worryin’ them over stupid shit like dreams. Got bigger issues than that.
36. total control
Script-ish, John and Connor, 3rd person.
J: You were supposed to die.
A: Yeah, firing squad. I remember. Hard to forget.
J: Would’ve preferred a hanging, actually.
A: Didn’t know the United States still used that method.
J: I’m sure they’d make an exception.
A: (mild discomforting laugh) Of course they would.
J: (faltering, lowering gun, searching for words)
A: Maybe you should set the gun down. Your hand’s twitching. Don’t want a misfire.
J: Shut the fuck up.
A: What, I can’t look out for you? What happens if you twitch and kill that friend of yours out there?
J: Don’t bring him into this.
A: Lincoln, right? Hear he’s taking after you very well. Brazen and theatrical.
J: Yes, because you’re a master at subtlety.
A: Comes with the job.
J: Jesus Chr—a fucking warhead isn’t subtle.
A: Neither is hanging a man from a Ferris wheel. Or, you know, (signaling to cheek with J’s given-cigarette) this.
J: That was self-defense.
A: Sure. Of course.
J: Can you just go one fucking sentence without being an asshole, or is that above you?
A: Give me a reason to, and I will.
J: I have a gun and you don’t.
A: That’s not enough, Johnny, and you know that.
J: Don’t call me that.
A: Sorry, I’m delirious from the blood loss. I thought you were that kid I helped so many years ago. He looked an awful lot like you, too. (painful cough, takes a drag to cover up whatever expression he has on his face) Forgive me, Mr. Donovan.
J: You know, I used to believe in you back then. (voice breaks, begins to pace, having his back to A) Thought you represented everything great about this country.
A: Don’t I still?
J: You don’t. You’re just as fucking greedy and selfish as everyone else. (wheels around to face A, pointing a quivering gun between his eyes)
A: Exactly. That’s the real America. The one that doesn’t care about drafted soldiers drowning in mud, or those who come back seeing shit and knowing they fundamentally aren’t right anymore. The one that doesn’t care about people like your friend out there. The one that would sooner hang you for being a homosexual than me for being a so-called “traitor”.
J: So you’re justified with selling a goddamn nuke, is that what you’re saying?
A: (still fucking smiling) Your comprehension has improved some. Congratulations.
J: (crouches down to be eye-level) So the money was just to sweeten the deal, huh? To ease your conscious— (he presses his hand into A’s wound as harshly as possible, causing A to jolt in pain)— when innocent people inevitably fucking die?
A: We both know I won’t be the last person to do so. If it isn’t the NVA, it’ll be someone else. It’ll keep going until the United States is destroyed.
J: (begins to pace again, silent, blinking hard to avoid tears)
A: I was going to end it, John. I was going to make everyone free from this bullshit. Including you. Including your friend. Including everyone else who is subject to America’s tyranny. I was going to do what you’re too cowardly to do! I was going to end it all!
J: (whips around sharply) Are you finished?
A: (panting, out of energy, the pain finally overcoming the adrenaline and pride, he realizes he’s no longer in total control.)
A: It appears so.

Fucking NVA the fucking losers:
Ze wijst ook naar de lokale N-VA-afdeling die het initiatief op sociale media en tijdens de gemeenteraad 'woke' noemde."Queen Nikkolah" kwam eerder al naar Gent, ze was verschillende keren te gast in cultuurhuizen of bij jongerenwerkingen.

the character i send is Prince Gerard of Greenleigh
first impression: I’m going specifically from the trailer “I hope Murph does the bullywug voice”
impression now: another banger from Murph, so glad he was divorced
favorite moment: I think the whole letter scene with Elise. It’s just so fucking nuts expecting someone to read a letter you just gave them in front of you and the whole “her hair is everywhere” bit
idea for a story: I actually do not think about nva enough to have already had one so no idea
Unpopular opinion: I actually don’t know if this is unpopular bc I wasn’t deep in nva fandom but he was far and away the funniest character that season for me (<- Murph bias)
Favorite relationship: his like uncle vibes with ylfa were so good I loved those two
Favorite headcanon: thing I just made up, he has a few pet frogs he treats very nicely as post-canon human divorcee gerard

i will absolutely never understand how a character can exist for 40 years and barely exist or be defined when theyre seemingly crucial to a main character's whole thing.
Exactly! Like the fundamental problem with Ace is that she's not a reliable narrator - she exaggerates and evades and is incredibly resistant to accepting fault even when she's talking to someone directly. And then you have this Definitive Relationship for her which... we only ever hear about from Ace and, rarely, other characters. Here's what we know for sure about Audrey:
She lost her father as a baby during WWII.
She was running with the mods by the 1960's (when she was 20), rebelling against her mother and going by the name 'Alex'. This is revealed in a story that has NOTHING to do with Ace (this is a story focused on Susan, which I've mentioned) and is still the only direct characterization we get from Audrey. Ever. During this period she had a boyfriend named Franko, who was taken over by the Daleks.
She married Ace's father (Harry McShane) relatively early, went back to going by Audrey, and had Ace at 27. Around this time she met the Seventh Doctor, who was using the opportunity to apologize to an infant Ace for... well, the usual.
She cried for days after getting the news of her mother's death. This made a strong enough impression on a toddler Ace that she remembered it for decades.
She cheated on Ace's father with his best friend around the time of her second pregnancy (which also lines up with her grieving the death of her mother, so...), and after her son was born, Harry left Audrey and took his son with. Not legal custody, straight up kidnapping. Ace did not find out about her brother's existence until 1997.
Her next romance (depending on if you count the NVAs as canon) was with someone who previously fell in love with Ace during an adventure. No, I don't know how it's not supposed to be weird being the rebound after your daughter.
At some point, Audrey dies of cancer. Ace only found out about this thanks to being at the Time Lord academy and getting the warning 'don't do anything about it'.
And that's it. That's Audrey's complete history. Her only onscreen appearance is as a baby, her only audio appearances are fleeting - related to the NVA story or as a hallucination, except for the Shoreditch Intervention, which again, has her interacting with Susan rather than Ace or the Doctor. Everything is is stuff that Ace tells us and... well, Ace exaggerates and simplifies, often in the direction of absolving herself of culpability. Without actually having an interaction with Audrey as she was during Ace's life or afterwards, there's no way to actually gauge if she's an awful person or just one who's fucked up and perpetuating a broken family cycle. I'm inclined to the latter given that our one bit of solid characterization puts her as the Beta Version of Ace.

"We used to walk through jelly hanging like parachutes in the rain forests. It was Agent Orange. Little did we know at the time that our sperm cells were being fucked with, and our minds were being destroyed by cancer. Many, many young men have suffered from Agent Orange. No one tells you. No one tells you about the friendly fire - how many American boys were killed by other Americans, not the NVA. Twenty five percent.. In every firefight that I was in, bullets were winging over my head from guess where? Behind me [laughs]. The guys were throwing grenades blindly."
-Oliver Stone in the DVD commentary for Heaven & Earth
