Maybe I'll make a post on this at some point but like, something deeply fucked up about TNP and Po3 that people have totally forgotten about is how badly they try to whine that "Tigerstar Had Good Traits :("

Firestar does it, Brambleclaw does it, and they keep doing this after it becomes this GRAND irony that Firestar almost gets Tiger'd to death in a fox trap because he was too trusting. Bramble gets his pity award of keeping deputyship and then cries to his son about how No One Saw The Good In Tigerstar :(

And it's wiiiiild that no one else in this fandom has done anything with the fact that Leopardstar broke the Warrior Code to appoint Hawkfrost, who had no apprentice, an extremely aggressive and warmongering Tigerclone who says things like "Tigerstar wasn't the worst cat to look up to." ONLY qualifying trait was being kinda like Tigerstar.

And she practically did that the SECOND Mistyfoot went missing. And then Leopardstar continued to be one of the most violent and xenophobic leaders through Po3, joining with WindClan to attack ThunderClan.

What I'm getting at is that like, a few years ago, with books like "Blackfoot's Reckoning" and "Shadow in RiverClan" it's like they suddenly decided to retcon in a bunch of "redemption arcs" in hindsight. They just pretended like there was this grand high reckoning with TigerClan, when there literally wasn't, and if anything that caused SERIOUS problems for the cast that the authors didn't fully acknowledge as such.

And now ppl haven't actually read the main series and are just working with their recent memory of all these retcon books.

But TNP and PO3 are still there, and you can go and see the ACTUAL timeline where Leopardstar is really not apologetic at all, and Blackstar is a useful stooge for the very next wannabe dictator that strolls in, in spite of the new side content that COMPLETELY mischaracterized them for their plots to work.

absolutely love mothwing but the concept of mothstar is so utterly bleak to me.

she’s a cat who has already walked the path of a warrior to the point of being awarded her full name, and yet still yearned to be a healer in her heart. she was denied the post solely due to her heritage, not to be permitted unless starclan blessed her with a sign. it was not starclan who provided this holy signal but her brother, and despite the stress, guilt, and trickery which stemmed from the false omen she still finally got to be a healer as she had always dreamed. fully committed to her post, she was giving the practice her all despite everything and it shows. you could tell this was her true passion. when it got out she was not appointed by starclan, she was stripped of her title in an instant. it didn’t matter how loyal and dedicated and skilled she was, she’s just a faithless half-clan loner to them. always reduced back to being a warrior like a goddamn punishment. when she finally regained her post due to a genuine sign, it only lasted a few seasons before the kin and then the imposter took turns tearing riverclan apart. she was exiled, apparently not even fit to be a warrior this time although shadowclan thankfully took her in and let her work as their healer. still, all mothwing wanted to be was *riverclan’s healer.* that is literally all she wanted her entire life and she has had to fight every pawstep of the way to cling onto a role most cats overlook entirely in the first place.

and now she’s forced to leave it all behind once again with not even a moment to fully settle. temporarily sure, but if she returns and is made to become mothstar? once more giving up her passion for the good of riverclan, but this time it’s permanent. she’s already over eleven years old, and now with nine more lives she’ll be spending each and every one as a warrior. all the current cats in her clan will likely die before she does, and the ones which come in their place will only *ever* know mothstar, the warrior, the leader of riverclan. not mothwing, the healer, the thing she committed to through thick and thin when her dedication to the clan was called into near constant question over things out of her control. and when mothwing finally, FINALLY dies, it will be as mothstar. she will give the leader which succeeds her a life, that too will be as mothstar, a life bestowed for leadership and not for healing. but it never was about what she truly desires, only what others thought best.

this is just my opinion of course formed over all we know about her and the several arcs she’s featured in but dude. Dude.

Adding onto that I fully believe the blood will spill blood prophecy was the lamest one, I don’t see why it was necessary other than for the cool factor? Which is fine and all but even then it wasn’t even that impactful, Starclan had no reason to give it to Leafpool of all cats even then

You know what should have happened?

Brambleclaw should have gotten the prophecy lmao. He should have known, the entire time, from the very moment that he started training in the Dark Forest, that Blood Will Spill Blood.

He should get into a huge fight with Tawnypelt, he should keep his eyes trained on Tigerstar, he should always be questioning who it would be, and what would make him finally snap. Would it be the sister who abandoned him? Would he be known as the demon killer? He who struggled with legacy and let his bloodline bleed dry?

Or would Tigerstar convince him in the end to turn against his sister and what she had done to him?

Never even considering the thought that it would be Hawkfrost. The one who sought him out, and stayed by his side, held his paw and walked through hell with him.

The dawning realization in that final moment, seeing Firestar, the cat he considered his real father, trapped and writhing and helpless. "No... no no no!"

Knows how this will end, where this is going, the sunset already turning the lake red behind them. Hawkfrost is offering him a choice; but there's only one answer.
