Oh my GODS I forgot about my old Karai adopted by Nomura AU. Holy shit this is amazing I found my old art of it and I'm giggling

Basically it was an AU where Trollhunters happened and Nomura is out here like "I don't know what to do with a CHILD" so she goes in search of a human to help her raise her new baby, since, you know, humans are better at being kind and nurturing and shit. But Nomura is a strong independent changeling who don't need no man, or woman, and she's not interested in getting in a partnership. All she needs is someone to help take care of her daughter familiar. So she fucks around and is like "You know, I don't need to be as careful as I used to be. If I have a grudge, I can just.... act on it. Hee hee."

And you see Nomura can't just get ANYONE to help with Zelda, she has to have someone who can protect Zelda just as well as SHE could. And Nomura is a busy spy assassin who is helping clean up the remnants of the Janus Order around the planet, so she needs someone who is independent and can either look after Zelda alone for a while or just move somewhere new with her when the need arises. So through a LONG stream of candidates Nomura settles on fucking. Karai.

She has some beef with Oroku Saki, what kind idk and changelings are p petty but Shredder’s a dick, so, probably something valid. Nomura's grand idea is to expose the child kidnapper for who he is to his "daughter". She manages to track down enough proof and force his hand enough that Karai actually believes it. Karai, now knowing she's Miwa, is devastated. Because Shredder is a dick but he was still her dad?

And Nomura saunters over like "I gotta deal for you kiddo! Help me raise my daughter and I'll help you look and see if there's anything left of your real father. No promises though, he went missing like, ten years ago. But I'll try! And as you can see, I'm very very good at finding hidden stuff :)" and well Miwa’s gotta try

Nomura kidnaps Shredder’s daughter while flipping him the bird and then Miwa helps raise Zelda for a few years. She actually really likes Zelda, she's a clever little terror, and Nomura is a cool "mom" even if they have an entirely transactional relationship. Miwa is just her fake daughter to help raise Zelda, they have fake papers and everything... but..... you know......... this is kinda nice. She never had a mom before, so even a fake one is cool

Nomura over here, having a panic attack when she realizes that she genuinely likes and adores this little bloodthirsty kunoichi and then eventually just straight up "Listen I like you, little viper, let me adopt you?? For reals please???" And they're a little happy family

And then Nomura gets a hot tip on the Hamatos in New York so the Nomura family gets to move to a little apartment there in search of Miwa’s real family, and Hilarity and Identity Shenanigans Ensue. Miwa ends up going to April and Casey's school. Zelda's daycare gets caught mid Kraang crossfire. Miwa sees Foot ninja and goes feral (being adopted by a changeling doesn't do a lot for your sense of morals). At SOME point, Zelda goes from cute toddler to tiny terror monster on a bad guy while Miwa just watches on from the sidelines with pride.

In the hero side of things the turtles find a new ally in a masked kunoichi who goes by Karai. She doesn't tell them anything about her except for the fact that if the Shredder hates them, she's on their side. She uses this to try learning about their family because they claim HAMATO as a name, surely they must know something about what happened to Hamato Yoshi.......

Is it just lmk that your are fic ship averse or all your fandoms

Most fandoms I have either two or no ships at all. For example I never shipped anything for MLB (in the brief time I was there), Warrior Cats, The Owl House, Amphibia or Trollhunters. I was solely focused on the story (as good or bad as it was) and the animation.

I never even liked the ships that ended up in those shows haha

But then for the 100 I absolutely adored one ship and was fucking devastated to hear how the ending season went so I refuse to watch it and S6 never happened! Ever! Likewise with Sonic, KNY, Bungou Stray Dogs, Soul Eater and several other animes/shows.

I’m just a little guy who prefers animation and story and platonic dynamics over thinking about who’s gonna hug and smooch. That is all

rott spoilers ahead

so i’ve given myself some time to think about everything and try to process it all and here are some of my thoughts on trollhunters: rise of the titans...

- straight off the bat, i loved the intro. opening with blinky telling the story of what happened up until this point was incredible. i would have loved if they had circled back to this though (i saw someone else say it should have been him telling the story to jim and claire’s kids and i loved that idea!)

- i also liked that they didn’t waste time at the start, instead they just jumped right into the action which was fun.

- honestly, i thought jim’s plotline throughout the movie where he basically thought he was useless without the amulet was just really not fun to watch. i understand why it was there and it played into the climax but i really did not find it one bit necessary seeing as i felt that we have grown beyond that. i felt it was overused. we’ve been there before and jim is aware that he’s the trollhunter, amulet or not.

- douxie being so soft with nari was genuinely one of the most heartwarming parts of the movie. i feel that we were really robbed of so much potential with douxie in this movie though. we didn’t see nearly enough of him. it seemed that the writers were picking and choosing when to remember how powerful he is. switching with nari and connecting to her are two examples of when they actually used his power, but aside from that they just disregarded it a lot.

- and speaking of forgetting how powerful people are... i’m genuinely so hurt and let down over what they did to claire. do they not realise how powerful she is? did they just forget about her character arc? it sure felt like it. she got to use her powers a few times (connecting to nari, portalling the titan, etc) but mostly it felt like she was saying she was spent and therefore unable to do anything. she is so strong and so powerful, and that’s just so empowering - especially for young girls. and then it kinda felt to me that rott was reducing her to basically nothing more than jim’s love interest.

- okay another quick note, it kinda felt to me that krel’s potential was also pretty wasted? he barely did anything and i just think he deserved more too.

- ew okay i don’t even want to think about it but i know i can’t discuss rott without talking about the mpreg thing. seriously, what the fuck was that? at first, i thought it was going to be a joke. i thought aja and krel were gonna wind steve up and see how far they could go with making him think he was pregnant just for a little bit of comic relief. but then he was actually pregnant. and so i laughed, because even though it was dumb it was kind of funny. weird and unexpected, but kind of funny. but by the time the movie was over it just didn’t sit right with me. looking past the fact that it was just more of them making steve’s character into a joke, i couldn’t see the logic in giving so much time to that subplot when other characters (claire, douxie) and other relationships (claire and douxie’s friendship) were sidelined. maybe if he had gotten a whole season the mpreg thing could have been included as comic relief or whatever, but with such limited time i really don’t see the point of wasting so much time on something so pointless. 

- speaking of steve, i need to talk about creepslayerz... they really deserved more :( like i get that eli literally helped steve through child birth and then named one after him which was lowkey adorable but i loved their friendship so much and i was really hoping to see more of them. i was kind of hoping they’d get to do more as well. look i gave up on hopes of a romance long ago (even though i still really wished it would happen) but i hoped that at least we’d see some more of their friendship.

* by this point my brain has decided to forget absolutely every point i wanted to make... cue the brain fog (we don’t like her) and allow me to take a moment to read back and try to find my point again *

- i don’t think i can stress enough how much i loved the visuals in this movie. holy fucking shit it was just phenomenal. like wow. the art was absolutely fantastic and i’m really hoping for another the art of... book because i love the art of trollhunters and i feel that they could do with updating it to include the newer stuff. but yep, the animation quality was incredible and i don’t have a bad thing to say about it because just wow.

- speaking of art... a moment of appreciation for character designs. just wow wow wow. we love to see such intricately designed villains. we love to see growth in our other much loved characters. and the locations too? fantastic. beautiful. amazing. loved it.

- another moment of appreciation for jim. the hair. the scars. the injuries. the winter jacket. the fact that he looked a little older.... loved it. loved it, loved it, loved it. i cannot wait to spend hours pouring over reference pictures to draw them all.

- and claire... her armor being weathered and worn. her eyes!! her hair looked great as always. i just love her...

- nari nari nari... my goodness, her magic is so beautiful. i wish we got to see more.

- also, the jlaire moments were very cute. their kisses? so soft. they literally love each other so much. i adore them.

- what happened to the babies from the darklands btw? is not enrique just chilling in the lake’s house with a ton of babies? 

- barbara deserved better. i would have liked to see her and strickler happy.

- on that note, why the actual fuck did they think a few explosives would win against magic?? literal ancient magic and these dumbasses were like huh i guess we should blow it up. i’m sorry, what?? y’all are stupid.

* currently trying to think of every possible point that isn’t to do with the ending because i really don’t want to think about that yet *

- the whole thing with archie and charlemagne felt super unnecessary. like usually characters sacrifice themselves and it’s like sad and you can see the reasoning and stuff. but they literally could have gotten out. i really did not vibe with that. it felt like they just did that to leave douxie with no one.

- that trollmarket was beautiful though.

- speaking of trollmarket... they really restored the heartstone just like that? are you joking? i was not impressed at all. the heartstone was dead and gone, could not be destroyed. did they just forget that? half the shit in wizards wouldn’t have happened if the heartstone could have been restored. very pissed off by that. it was dead, that was it.

- okay back to jim... love that he pulled the sword from the stone. it was cute that it was a group effort, kinda would have preferred if it was just him but that’s just a me thing. and maybe me and my daylight tattoo are biased here, but excalibur is not half as pretty as daylight.

- not gonna lie, jim yelling come on trollhunters! kinda got me. i was very emotional watching this.

- i think the most in character jim moment of the whole movie was when he dropped excalibur, he didn’t have his armor, he was all alone and he decided to make a fist and fight the wizard/god with literally no weapon or means of defence. i don’t think y’all understand how much i love this dumb self sacrificing selfless boy. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, he is literally one of my most favourite characters of all time. i love him with all my heart.

- the armor!! wow wow wow. that was a fucking cool scene. beautiful.

- jim getting stabbed or whatever with that fucking spear thing nearly killed me.

- okay here goes... toby. my sweet toby. jim and toby’s friendship is one of my absolute favourites ever. my goodness. and toby getting in the van and going to save jim was incredible and such a toby thing to do. of course he would think of doing that.

- but like seriously... claire and douxie are so fucking powerful and they were both just like lol i guess we can’t do anything to help jim? i’m sorry what?? don’t tell me that claire wouldn’t go full on black and purple eyes and get herself up their to him. i just... i’m so bothered by the fact that they were sidelined y’all :|

- also, do not seriously try to tell me that aaarrrgghh!!! would let toby go on his own. he would have went with him. he would have followed him.

- literally as jim was falling the first thing that went through my mind was oh aaarrrgghh!!! is gonna run up and catch him.

- and while we’re on the topic of aaarrrgghh!!! why tf did they have such a build up that something was going to happen to either him or blinky for literally no reason? wtf

- aaarrrgghh!!! would not have let toby go alone!!! if he had been there, he would have protected toby, he would have saved him and none of that mess of an ending would have happened.

- first off, i am choosing to ignore it.

- time stone? really? we’re... we’re gonna do this? literally one of the most original things i have ever watched is now - at the literal last possible minute - rip off another movie?? really?? whyyyy???

- i literally cannot express how much i hated it. it was so fucking unnecessary.

- he didn’t need to go back that far!!!

- i’m actually trying to block this out but i suppose i have to at least touch on it. jim would never ever put that burden on to toby. he just wouldn’t. before even looking at all of the other issues with toby getting the amulet, i need to say that. it just wouldn’t happen. he struggled so much with being the trollhunter, he wouldn’t put that on toby. 

- also toby literally never wanted to be the trollhunter?? he never wanted the amulet? he wanted to be a duke and have his war hammer and go on adventures with his best friend and his wingman and eat mexican food.

- okay so um i guess they all just forgot about unbecoming? cool cool cool.

- seriously though, was it not established many times that jim literally had to be trollhunter? and if he wasn’t it would be draal and everything would go to shit? did they just forget about that??

- having jim just decide to give toby the amulet literally takes away from the entire meaning behind jim getting the amulet and becoming the trollhunter. the amulet chose jim. merlin chose him. out of all of the creatures in the world, it had to be jim. he can’t just give that to toby!!

- and as much as i love toby, he would not last a day as trollhunter.

- and that’s not even beginning to mention all that jim erased by not becoming trollhunter. no father son relationship between him and blinky. they didn’t stop steve from picking on eli so no steve redemption and no creepslayerz. is he just going to allow enrique to be taken? toby will not have the same incentive to go into the darklands to save him if that’s the case. strickler will not show any sort of sentiment towards toby either. and then the big one...

- IS THAT FUCKER REALLY GOING TO ALLOW CLAIRE TO NOT GET HER POWERS??? WHAT???

- if jim isn’t trollhunter and the whole thing with enrique doesn’t happen then claire will never get her shadowstaff. let’s be real, strickler probably wouldn’t even need angor rot with toby as trollhunter. somehow i can’t see him making it that far...

- if claire doesn’t have her shadow staff then the whole thing with morgana won’t happen. she won’t destroy the shadow staff and then she will never develop her powers. would jim really rob her of that?

- okay i can’t do anymore, it’s too much for me now...

- i touched on this already in a separate post but i gotta say it again... i did not enjoy the destiny is a gift bit at the end. first of all, jim having toby find the amulet literally takes the meaning of that speech and his destiny away instanty. and second, i just could not stand hearing emile hirsch say the words that belonged to anton yelchin. it was just uncomfortable.

aaand i think i’m done. maybe i’ll have more later but i have a headache now from all of this.

an in depth analysis of why every character was written horribly, even without the dumb reset

Steve

I mean this one’s obvious. We had someone with such great character development in Trollhunters, 3Below, and Wizards. Personally think that Steve was fine in Wizards (I like his knight subplot) and I thought they were setting up Steve recreating knights of the roundtable, but guess not lol. 

He didn’t even get to fight. He had a strong start in the movie and his concern for Jim really shows his growth from being his bully, but then he got immediately turned into a punchline.

Eli

All of Eli’s involvement with the plot happened offscreen. It’s great that he created the gun robot, but that’s it. Then he got turned into a midwife for Steve. 

Krel

Also a lot of the involvement happened offscreen. He remade the amulet which was cool, but it should’ve held more weight. The amulet should’ve been introduced way later into the movie. 

And okay as much as I love Stuart why did he need to fix the Amulet KREL WAS RIGHT THERE WHY WAS STUART RELEVANT

I know Stuart is good with electronics and he even made Seklos’ canon back in 3below but this is such an annihilation of Krel’s genius.

Plus the whole “It needs to have Merlin’s magic” thing was bs HELLO DOUXIE WAS RIGHT THERE THE ORIGINAL AMULET WAS ALSO MADE WITH HIS MAGIC

Aja

I’m glad she’s come into the role of queen, but by god she was so cold to Jim for no reason. She knows what it’s like to be powerless. She lost her parents to a coup and couldn’t do anything!!!! SHE AND JIM HAD THE MOST UNDERSTANDING IN 3BELOW. 

Also evacuating the earth goes so much against who she was in 3below. She ADORED the Earth. Loved everything about it, not just the people. 

And by god the kissing Akiridion lore is so dumb and so obviously thrown in there with no thought on how it would’ve affected 3Below. The kissing tree is ruined and her relationship with Steve is ruined.

Claire

bruh what do you mean her magic is spent this was not a problem in Wizards. She barely does any shadow magic and then it is spent. How many times are you gonna nerf her like that

I’ve always said Jlaire is what Hiccstrid should’ve been and in the end they become what I dislike about Hiccstrid. Claire was a prize for Jim and was reduced to Girlfriend who Fights. She didn’t have any meaningful or fun interactions with any other character. Really nobody did

Douxie

the narrative just gives him one big trauma conga line without addressing any of it. Douxie was tortured by the order and absolutely no one wants to check he’s alright????? Just immediately start questioning him?? 

Archie was his companion for CENTURIES and all he says is “I hope he’s happy?????” honestly this was just httyd3 for them but without any of the emotion

Nari died and Douxie should’ve fucking snapped by that point. He should’ve gone avatar mode again when Nari got stabbed and help Nari kill Skrael on the spot. And then Nari would die. He should’ve been on his knees sobbing hearing Nari say “no more running” one last time. It would’ve been a great parallel to Wizards. 

And then he also was nerfed with his powers but with no explanation. The body swap spell was great. Power move. Everything else was no. Not to mention his magic was so inconsistent like hello that’s not what tenebris excellium does

He took on the order alone in wizards with a tenebris excellium but then bellroc overpowers him and flicks him away like w h  at. 

Toby

If Toby was going to die and have his friendship with Jim be prioritized at all, then for the love of god stop reducing him to a punchline. I mean the series has this issue as well, but he’s supposed to be important here. There are barely any meaningful moments with Jim outside of his death scene and moments from the series. 

Charlemagne 

Literally used as a plot device. Guy who knows a guy. I mean, that’s kind of what he was used for in Wizards as well, but his character moments with Douxie was why he was important. Honestly no reason for him to be in this movie. 

Archie

Archie CHOSE TO BE A FAMILIAR AND DEFY CHARLIE’S WISHES TO BE WITH DOUXIE AND THEN HE SAYS NO THANKS I’LL JUST BE WITH MY DAD FOREVER????????

Strickler + Nomura

Literally brought into this movie just to be a casualty. I will admit I like the small interaction between Douxie and Nomura but he barely knows her so there’s no reaction to it. Their deaths were so goddamn stupid how would a bomb defeat a magical being and why would you send a changeling to brazil. 

Jim

Jim. Oh buddy Jim. For a character with pretty much the only tangible arc in this movie, they sure botched that up. I was ready for the arc to be about him being weak, but I figured it would be due to turning human, not losing the amulet. We’ve been through the fact that without the amulet he’s still the trollhunter. But now he’s back to being powerless. That’s what his arc should’ve been about being powerless, not the amulet. 

I’m not a fan of making him the center of the movie when he’s had way more screentime than anyone else. and to learn a lesson HE ALREADY LEARNED. I wouldn’t have minded as much if his arc was handled any good. 

I hate to say this about one of my favorite emotional characters, but Jim kept angsting way too much throwing pity party after pity party for himself. Like we get it dude. Outside of that he was so emotionless as a leader. There was no charm to him at all. He honestly could’ve given less of a crap about anyone else besides the og gang.  He honestly reminds me a little of rtte!hiccup and how hiccup treated his friends terribly from time to time rip

Douxie getting tortured?? After he fought tooth and nail for him when Jim was hurt in wizards??? Immediately starts pestering him for answers. Where is his kindness? His selflessness? The trademark Jim sacrifice??? BECAUSE GOING BACK SURELY WASN’T A SACRIFICE

Headcanons of Krel living on earth because he’s my favorite and I love him and I haven’t seen anyone do this yet so I feel like I have to

^^^^^because of this very moment I love the idea of Mary and Darci befriending Krel.

Since Aja,Vex and Eli went back to Akaridion-5, Mother was destroyed, and Claire was busy with Trollhunting stuff, earth gets pretty lonely. So Mary and Darci adopt him into their friend group. 

At first Krel was a little apprehensive to joining their friend group, but he quickly warmed up to it because, he, being Krel, loves the attention.

like I can totally see Mary and Darci taking Krel to like a mall or something and doing those like teen romcom movie shopping montages where he goes into a changing room and the girls judge the outfit until they find the perfect one.

I personally believe Krel would adopt a soft boy look, with like oversized button ups and t shirts tucked into jeans, but thats just me.

anyway, because he’s friends with Mary and Darci, Krel has a new found social popularity in Arcadia.

because of this, Krel would prolly get nominated for Spring Fling king and shit

I would say Krel wouldn’t really care about being nominated, but seeing how he cared so much about the science fair and the Battle of the Bands, he would definitely care

Steve is conflicted because he wants to be Spring Fling King, but he can’t mess with Krel like he did with Jim and Eli cause Krel is his girlfriend’s brother 

Krel notices this and takes advantage of it to mess with Steve and actually tries to win.

like Krel would just dominate the contests, and his theme presentation would be the flashiest and most appealing and people would just generally like him, and that would really worry Steve

like Krel, with four arms would be really good at the Touch-a-Truck-athon or whatever its called.

Krel would prolly let Steve win anyway because watching Steve squirm and freak out over prolly losing the crown and not being able to do anything about it cause he's Aja's brother is much better than any highschool dance crown

also the school 100% asks Krel to DJ future dances and events to save money, and Krel absolutely loves it

He would also definitely do the school play. Seeing how much he enjoyed being in Toby and Eli's short film, and again, he loves the attention, he would totally be down 

Also it would just be another chance to mess with Steve to be the lead. 

Because of this, Ms. Janeth would do another Shakespearean play, but do one of those modern renditions. Like it's the same play just in a modern setting, to take advantage of Krel's Akaridion form like they did with Jim's armor. 

If not in the play he would do stage crew/tech.

Like he would create elaborate settings for them using A5 tech and Ms. Janeth would adore it 

moving on, because home life is pretty lonely with just the Lucy and Ricky for company, Krel loves to host his friends for parties and sleepovers and whatever

and since Krel lives in the coolest house on the block, they love coming over

He hosts girl’s night every other week with Mary, Darci, and Clarie (becauuse she deserves a fucking break) 

since we’ve all agreed that Krel is 100% a gaylien, I love the idea that he casually comes out during a girls night

like Mary would be like “So Krel, are there any girls you like?” and Krel’s just like, “*snort* Girls? Who ever said I like girls?” and the others are like “….....?“ and Krel just rolls his eyes and says "I like boys, ladies” and they’re like “ooooohhhh, okay. Cool.”

So now they spend girls night talking about boys. Claire and Darci about their mans and Mary and Krel about cute boys.

One day the girls give Krel a little rainbow pin and Krel’s just like “what’s this?” And the girls tell him that it’s an earth symbol for the gays and he’s like “theres a symbol for that here? I didnt think it was that big of a deal. On A5 it’s pretty normal” and the girls explain why theres a symbol and he’s like “oh shoot wow, thanks" and he put it on his backpack.

He’s pretty confused the first time someone is homophobic towards him cause like that kind if behavior doesnt happen on A5 and hes just like, “why does this bother you? I hardly know you” and just brushes it off. Its doesnt really bother him, mainly cause he doesnt know the earth insults towards gay people so he doesn’t even realize, but if the girls (or Toby, or even Steve, too) catch anyone being homophobic towards their friend they will attack that asshole on sight. Especially Mary and Steve

Random person on the street: Ha, *slur*

Marry: WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HIM BITCH???

Krel: Marry its fine, it’s not that big of a dealoHSEKLOSANDGAYLENMARYGETOFFOFHIM

Mary would 100% find out who the rando is and destroy their life on social media. Like she would leak their job, phone number, email, school/college (if applicable) to her thousands of followers and absolutely ruin them with no remorse. And honestly, good for her

Also whilst on the subject, Krel can not drive or cook for 2 reasons: 1. Hes gay and 2. He’s a prince so he’s never had to do either before

Like he can obviously do math but that’s it.

Proof? That one scene in Wizards when Douxie had him drive the airship. You know the one.

Coach Lawrence refuses to get in a car with him at Drivers Ed after the 3rd day Krel shows up.

Krel gets addicted to sugary coffee shop-esc drinks thanks to Darci. Not coffee cause we saw in 3Below Part 1 that he doesnt like coffee, but refreshers, coolattas, frappuccinos etc…? Definitely.

As for warm drinks, he’s more of a tea person.

Moving on

He face calls Aja everyday because he really misses her

He tells her all about school and his friends and whatever and Aja tells him about the changes she’s making to the A5 government

Thanks to the wormhole they visit each other often. Sometimes Steve tags along cause he misses his ninja kicking space queen angel girlfriend. (And Eli, but that's also for another post)

They take turns housing Luug.

Krel genuinely loves it on earth, but he hates the primitive technology so he begs Aja to send him supplies and materials for his projects. 

He would 10000% apply to HexTech for an after school job. Seeing his reaction to HT in Wizards and the fact that “Akaridion tech and magic are so compatible”, he would be the perfect addition to the HT staff. 

The Wizards wouldn’t be sure at first but after he shows them A5 tech and Douxie’s email of recommendation about the time loop thing they made together, the wizards are like “oh yeah we definitely keeping this kid. This is going to be so much fun.”

Their inventions become more and more extravagant because Krel can and he's just extra and the wizards love it.

He would definitely find a way to use magic using A5 tech. But he would have to study magic in order to figure out how, so the wizards help him learn all about magic. And since he's learned everything there is to learn about science and technology and whatever, he's super excited to learn about something completely different and interesting. The wizards are happy to teach him. He would be the first Akaridion to learn and use magic

Like he would make his own staff with his serrator and everything. He's like "earn a staff? Nah fuck that going to make my own"

Speaking of which he really likes human swear words. But he doesnt know when it is and isn't inappropriate to say these swear words so he's gotten in trouble a few times for swearing at the wrong time

Ms. Janeth: excuse me Mr. Tarron?

Krel: what the fuck do you want?

Everyone in the room: krEL NO

Anyway, back to Krel at HT, thanks to Toby, he would definitely have a bowl of candy in his little lab. More like multiple jars of different candy just scattered around the room. Small candy like fun sized chocolate and skittles and jelly beans and whatever

And a mini fridge, of course.

Steve, Toby and Arrrgh come over to the lab alot to mess around.

Toby has a lot of sci-fi requests for Krel to make

Going back to school life, I feel like Krel would take an interest in Spanish class. I mean, his human form is latino and in Trollhunters (I'm pretty sure the lightning in a bottle episode) he said "Si" in response to a question someone asked him, so I feel like he would like to learn another human language. 

I also feel like he would just like to learn about Latin American culture in general since Mother gave him that form. He'd like to get in touch with his human self. 

Claire (when she isnt busy Trollhunting with Jim and the gang) is happy help him learn about Latin American culture and help him with his Spanish. 

Krel, being a fast learner, becomes fluent quickly with a perfect accent. 

Señor Uhl, who already liked the Tarrons to begin with, would really appreciate this. 

Claire's dad would also appreciate this.

Since he has such a fascination with human music, Krel would especially love Latin American music. Specifically reggaeton, since its kind of like techno music in a way and he already likes techno music.

And naturally, he learns to dance. All the styles of latin american dances. And he becomes quite the favorite on the dance floor.

He and Claire become great dance partners cause they both have the natural Latino rhythm and because Jim respects and trusts his girlfriend he doesnt mind them dancing together at parties and stuff

Although, Jim does ask for dance help at some point cause it looks like fun and he wants to dance with his beautiful talented incredible amazing gf and Krel is happy to teach him and anyone else who wants dance help. 

GUITAR LESSONS with Douxie cause in 3Below Krel said he really wanted to learn how to play guitar, steals Shannon’s guitar from the bonfire and is seen multiple times strumming it throughout the series. So of course this is included.

Toby introduces Krel to YouTube and Krel instantly makes his own channel.

of course his channel is called DJ Kleb and he posts his tracks and remixes. and maybe even some vlogs

its a little slow at first, only Arcadia Oaks students are subscribed to it but Mary blows it up by posting one of Krel’s tracks on her own social media and now he has thousands of subscribers

he also gained other forms of social media like Instagram and Tiktok, platforms to post his music

At this point every girl in school wants to be friends with Krel but not in the toxic GBF (gay best friend) way, girls just genuinely think he's 10x more interesting than every other boy in Arcadia Oaks

It’s time for yet another round of recommendations! In this batch is the 80+ Rise of the Titans fics I read as part of the fanfic analysis which have their own section with Tales of Arcadia (Aka the TV part of the franchise) merged into one for ease sake. I’m currently on a bit of an older content binge on behest of someone which is giving me a break from RotT burnout, a few of which are on this list and the rest is already spilling into part 8 sitting in my drafts.

A Thousand Years - A series of oneshots following the lives of Douxie and Zoe through the ages including some good old Zouxie fluff.

A Night Off; Comfort Zoe Night - Exactly as it says this is a bout of shameless Zouxie fluff because sometimes you have a bad day and there’s somebody who can treat you to a much nicer evening.

of poison, forest floors, and terrified wizards - It was just a simple errand for Merlin, one he’d done hundreds of times before so there was no reason to wake Archie from his nap and thus Hisirdoux Casperan went off alone. Even in his worst nightmares he couldn’t have expected being struck with poison designed to take out magic users.

Primordial Awakenings - We build our creations from the dead, give them names, offer them power then put them amongst the stars until we forget there was ever a before because the stories have already made them eternal. A delightful take on how the Order as we know might have come to be because sometimes you wonder what if they were birthed in the prehistoric?

Primordial Awakenings — Deleted Scenes - In case you need more content from the above :) This does contain Order ships of various directions.

Already Seen - Easy peasy, lemon squeezy Douxie is caught in the D'aja Vu as well and tries to figure out what the heck is causing it. Contains a little bit of Zouxie fluff.

Mama Bear - It is after Jim’s battle with Draal when Barbara catches sight of numerous bruises covering her son and along with all the other out of character incidents totting up of late naturally she thinks the worst.

Across the Stars - With Zadra now on earth and far away from home, she and Izita snatch the moments they can to to talk to one another. Zadita? Izadra? Genuinely no idea what the shorthand for the ship is.

Reading Wingman - Even the most experienced trolls can get caught out sometimes and in this case AAARRRGGHH shelters in the library. Adorable ensues.

Happy Birthday - Post Trollhunters season 3, everyone deserves a special treat on the anniversary of one of the worst days of your life and that includes Trollhunters.

heavy - Jim might have escaped the Darklands in body but the trauma continues to pursue through not only nightmares but all the way into the waking world too.

from now on - Post Trollhunters season 3, it was hard for Toby he and AAARRGGHH had been left behind but they try to struggle on anyway all the while counting down the days until their friends to come home.

Rise of the Titans

Unbecoming 2 Electric Boogaloo - There are always prices to pay and consequences for wanting to do the right thing if you choose to embrace selfishness instead of logic. You went too far back Jim Lake Jr., you were warned and the cold rush of reality is watching just out of sight to show you why.

Unlikely Places - They managed to stop the Titans with no losses despite it being very close leaving the Order in the very odd position of wrapping their heads around the After. For one former resident of Durio he’s about to find out just how they’re handling things first hand.

Tales of Arcadia: In Search of Home- After using diplomacy with a chance to right the wrongs of the world to bring Skrael on board he and Nari in turn offer the same to Bellroc . This leaves one Hisirdoux Casperan with two additional roommates, trying to make everyone comfortable as they experience new and fancy human things like pasta, earning your keep and the wonders of freezers.

A Better World - After jumping back in time Jim uses his prior knowledge to help nudge things in this timeline for the better with advice and jokes but always keeps the most precious (And painful) close to his chest. Sitting on the roof together one night Toby muses about this strange yet incredible life he’s led so far and what his best friend might have been through in his old one.

Time is a Fickle Thing... - When Jim used the time stone to go back he expected to wake up in his bed on the very same day he’d become the Trollhunter. Instead he awoke in the middle of the nearby woods little more than an observer of his 15 year old self armed with knowledge of the future and the determination to nudge the timeline for the better. This is of course assuming the second hand embarrassment doesn’t kill him first.

Minds are Troubled By The Emptiness - An epilogue for Nancy “Nana” Domzalski in a timeline that was not reset.

Tales of Arcadia: The Final Becoming - A complete rewrite of Rise of the Titans lets fucking go.

Lifting Atlas - It would be unwise to go back in time without a plan so one is cobbled together involving contacting Douxie as soon as possible, bring him on board and try to right the mistakes of the past to save everyone they lost. The trouble is you can’t run from the trauma that led to your best friend dying before your eyes, not even with time travel.

Content warning for the first chapter: There is mention of previous sexual assault and suicide that does not have an in fic warning nor is it tagged. It is mentioned during Jim’s conversation with Douxie and a second time in a vague way after the time jump when they meet up.

Stricklake

Without you there is no world - A oneshot series for Stricklake month following a range of themes from excellent sci-fi worldbuilding, dabbling in one of the author’s AUs, the perils of gravesand and closing with a rather well deserved dig at THAT scene from RotT.

stricklake month...2!!! - Do you want Stricklake that borders on domestic in a range of circumstances including big brother Jim? WELL.

Darling Play Your Violin - There is a saying that history repeats it’s self and it is certainly true for those who live long enough to feel it’s echoes. Sometimes you are given a second chance which turns bittersweet while another will be met with mirth but at least at the end of it all you can say you tried.

To family - Seeking to propose to Barbara, Strickler decides to ask someone dear to them both for permission due to their incredibly complicated background. A trio of toddlers act as witnesses oblivious to their big brother’s sass and plotting.

Parent conference day - Set post RotT, some memories are lingering in the form of dreams that once were, it just takes a chance encounter to start bringing sense to them.

Stricklake Baggage Babeyyyyyy - Walter Strickler is not an innocent changeling which is something Barbara is well aware of. The problem is sooner or later the question has to be asked no matter how scared you are of the reply: Did you kill Principal Levit?

Alternate Universe

"I'll Still be Here." - Once more falling into the “This isn’t technically AU but it doesn’t feel right to put it elsewhere somehow??” issue. Well before two boys will find an Amulet in the canals this is a reminder of how loved ones can be the best thing when anxiety brain gets ideas. Autistic Toby with a side order of Joby/Hammerhunter.

Daddy Issues - So Bular accidentally ended up adopting teeny Jim and it’s adorable.

The End Is the Beginning Is the End - After what should have been a fatal car accident Barbara is offered a choice: Perish or live by trading whatever her saviour decides. She might have thought it was the delusions of a dying mind but the consequences do not agree.

A Brief Reliving of Troll Lore - Camelot has gained unexpected time travelers darkening their doors except this is set in the 7th century and the journey home is going to be a whole lot rougher with survival just as important as preventing history being screwed up. This is a Jim centric fic.

Welcome to Live Commentary

I had no one to talk to while watching the movie and I hate being alone with my thoughts so I wrote everything down in my notes app. It's not coherent! Enjoy!

Aw yeah 1.5 seconds of Bular that is all I needed! Might as well stop now I've seen my boy I'm satisfied.

Why is there a nearly 4 minute recap as if I haven't watched the show at least 50 times. I should be the one giving the recap.

The beginning felt a bit forced to me but maybe that's just me? Like they just tried to squeeze too many things into a small timeframe without any buildup, it just didn't really work. Congrats on the engagement! This is my OTP so I'm very happy! But it came out of nowhere.

Nari in Douxies body is so wrong and I love it and hate it at the same time (positive)

Eli is BIG. I knew he was gonna be tall but I was not prepared for that chiseled face. Or the fact that he stepped off the ship without glasses? I wear glasses and I would not choose to step off a spaceship blind.

And before this movie I always half-joked that everyone I love dies, how I still like Strickler and Nomura but apart from them all of my faves were killed in the very order of favoritism. Strickler survived because fuck you, and Toby also survived and just has scars now. Maybe a wheelchair but he's fine, also he can use the Warhammer for super speed and make it awesome once he's used to it. Archie and Charlie get freed once they rebuild the bridge (and they were playing scrabble to pass the time). Nomura is still dead because she died on screen and I can't really deny that but she's with Draal so it's okay. Everyone is traumatized but they'll be fine. NotEnrique is still babysitting 500 babies and Steve is about to bring 7 more.

In summary, I reject Groundhog Day ending but everything else was great, as long as it actually happened. It was a good movie. But you can't just cancel years of passion. Having the prospect of a million "canon AUs" sounds great for writing but at the same time nooo you can't do that he didn't have to go back THAT far HHHHH

I liked the movie. It was a great watch and a satisfying end to a franchise, but I gotta say I do not fancy the ending of it so I will from now on be in denial. I honestly feel kind of betrayed that this show was my whole life for so long, I learned every smallest fact, and they basically deleted it from existence. I know what they were going for, I think, but no thank you I will be going with my own opinion. Still gonna rewatch it a few dozen times though ✌🏻

Every Reason I Hate That Jim Was Turned Back Into a Human in Wizards: Tales of Arcadia

I want to be so very clear: I adore this series with every fiber of my being. But I also hold it to a very high standard... and it messed up.

It destroys consequences. What The Fuck, guys. No, really. What the fuck. Do I hate Troll!Jim? So fucking much. I hate it. Devalued EVERYTHING Jim did to prove that he was a worthy Trollhunter. Do I still understand why the decision was made? Yes. And I am livid that they decided to reverse it when it’s supposed to be permanent.

Magic isn’t a cure-all. Everything about this series’s magic system is vague, but from the get-go in our introduction to Merlin, it was made very clear that magic had consequences and it couldn’t be used to fix everything. It had rules, even if they weren’t ones we could see. Jim becoming human again ruins that.

He’s fine. Why is he fine. Why. No, I’m dead serious, why is he fine? He went Troll because he thought he wasn’t enough. The manifestation of the soul is how you see yourself, something we can see as Jim’s soul slowly corrupts in the Shadow Realm. That means he hasn’t accepted that he’s not human anymore. So. Why the Hell is he fine when his amulet is now destroyed, he is no longer a Troll (an emotional crutch) and he has effectively lost all the power he had to take care of others, or at least power as he’s been viewing it? Is it just amnesia or something?! Like, what the fuck?! Directly after he watched someone die, Jim was forced into a difficult position and offered the power to make him stronger. Jim never dealt with the fact that he didn’t believe in himself and he never accepted that sometimes you just can’t do anything. He should be emotionally and mentally crippled right now, but he isn’t. In fact, he’s FINE.

No explanation. None. We were given exactly NO explanation for how Jim was saved from damnation. Merlin didn’t know what to do. Doux didn’t know what to do. And despite his confidence, I don’t think Vendel did either. So. What the fuck. Even a gaping expression and an exclamation of disbelief from Doux would’ve done the trick. It would’ve established that he didn’t have answers. Instead everyone’s just happy. They literally could’ve said that in the case of corruption you had to remind the corrupted item/person what they were supposed to be and it was extremely risky and very dangerous even for Master Wizards and it was a fool’s folly to try. It sets Claire up to be incredibly powerful and you could even include that the stronger the emotional ties the better. Throw in how the item/person takes on whatever form they think they’re supposed to have and now we have the question “is Jim really human, or does he just look it?” which would be incredibly interesting and it keeps with the consequences that were set. It even implies some consequences for Claire seeing as now, if something goes wrong with Jim, Claire would blame herself.

I just hate it. It was such a cop-out. I was bawling my eyes out when Jim turned to stone. Bawling. I was distraught that Jim hadn’t made it, but when he stepped out as a human, my brain blue screened. Then it rebooted. And then the first thing out of my mouth was “......why is he alive?” Because he shouldn’t be. Honestly. Admit it: Jim should be dead. ToA has been very good at maintaining death and when you pull this and then NEVER EXPLAIN IT, well, IT’S A PROBLEM. You’ve just broken your world’s rules. Not only that, it cheapens the emotional attachment people have to the character and it sets a precedent for “oh, they died. Eh. They’ll be fine in a couple minutes.”

I’ve seen the trailer for Rise of the Titans.

It looks incredible and it soothes my soul a bit to see that there was a point, but the fact remains that these are some pretty solid critiques. There needs to be an explanation in-cannon or else we’re gonna end up just saying “plot armor” and calling it a day. I don’t know about you, but I’m not alright with that answer.

have you watched tales of arcadia, on netflix? (it’s a series consisting of three shows, trollhunters -> 3 below -> wizards [airing on aug 7]) i personally enjoyed it a LOT, i don’t think it has THAT much racial/lgbt rep, but the story/plot/worldbuilding is amazing and very entertaining

OH I LOVE TALES OF ARCADIA!! i am not a dreamworks stan for nothing so i try & check out 90% of their cartoon shows, even if they don’t all click. but trollhunters just on its own is probably in my top five cartoons of all time? i just adored it truly. i’m so excited about the poster for wizards that just got dropped!! and i love the series’ rep of having both white and non white passing latino / hispanic characters like claire and krel’s human form! and each are voiced by poc too!

and while i do make more of an effort to watch things that are diverse - hence why i tried and grew to love things like “one day at a time,” “crazy ex girlfriend,” “the good place,” “brooklyn nine nine,” and more (musicals, books, etc.) - diversity alone can’t make something good for me. some of my favourite things - like the httyd franchise - has great disabled rep and bad and/or nonexistent rep for poc.

like, a lack of diversity is always a story flaw. httyd easily could’ve had any of the people on berk or other islands be poc and didn’t. it’s a fantasy viking world and non white vikings existed in history. but httyd is still extremely strong story wise. meanwhile something like shera, that i quite enjoyed my first time through, has diversity to the point that its the show’s main selling point and... it’s way weaker story wise? in my eyes, at least.

so yeah ideally things have both, like tdp, steven universe, or atla. and honestly i try and pay way more attention to racial rep than lgbtq+ rep in animation because i feel like the former is something ppl don’t talk about enough in comparison to the latter, even though each are equally important.

BUT YEAH long story short + my tangent being over i adore tales of arcadia and 3below made me cry over robots (like, twice) and they’re beautifully animated shows that are the best of the “double lives” genre for teens while also very much doing its own thing and i love them very much. fucking hyped for wizards even if i’m sad we’re one step closer to saying goodbye to this weird lil suburbs and this wonderful cast

so i’m on the hunt for a new hyperfixation and it’s just not going too well.

i was thinking that maybe it’s time to devote a little bit of time to genfic, however:

villain!deku just doesn’t have enough... starting material? i only really like the animatics and bloom in winter so far, and the other villain!deku fics haven’t left me eager to look for more.

the inscrutable machine would pretty much be a fandom of one, and i think that’s the root reason for why royal fucked my little akirann heart up so bad. no outside balancing forces or people to really socialize with outside of the comments on my fic and the people who were only passingly into it or listened to me out of affection alone.

i don’t really have any other ideas for genfic, tbh.

the harry potter fandom is a fun place to lurk but they aren’t My People.

naruto too, and the “oh my GOD you’re doing it wrong” impulse isn’t strong enough to make up the gap. 

ditto bleach, ditto ff7, ditto ditto ditto...

in terms of more general fandoms:

pjo... never left me with that ‘but what if...” fanfic urge, for all that i snatched up all the percabeth and rachel/nico content i could get my greedy little hands on (this was pre-HoO, please don’t murder me)

atla—same boat. i could see myself getting on board if i shipped zutara, but nope. they’re both cute but i’m not fond of their enemies-to-lovers thing or the way their personalities mesh.

ouat has mostly burned low at this point, and as much as i love captain swan, it’s definitely not my wheelhouse. (possibility: lieutenant duckling?)

homestuck... as much as i adore(d) the fandom, it also never left me with powerful but what if urges. i was/am content just to watch the whirlwind of content.

ff7r has kingdom hearts logic, and kingdom hearts logic is why i’m not going for kingdom hearts. it kinda forces me to mentally take shotgun just to watch the scenery go by, so to speak. i love cloti and zerith and sokai and namiku and axel/xion, but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ do i wanna mess with that set of canonverse rules? no. no i do not.

trails of cold steel and nights of azure would both be fandoms of one and aren’t really speaking to me either (though i do want a lilysse/arnice oneshot of arnice teaching lilysse to dance, js).

i am completely absolutely 100% done with anything involving persona. fuck you atlus. fuck you.

xenoblade chronicles (thus far) don’t seem to have the kind of world i like to play in.

as much as i adore rune factory 4, if i want more rune factory 4 content, all i need to do is play rune factory 4 again, because i’ve played it through so many times i’ve lost count, and i still haven’t discovered everything in the game.

botw... maybe?? but i need more to go off of for any of the ships and 'canon divergence’ is tricky when you’re pretty much allowed to do just about anything.

under semi-serious consideration:

okami. it's also a dead fandom, but the characters are charming and intriguing, and i love the ammy/waka(/issun) dynamic. i lost my copy of the game but i’m getting my replacement tomorrow, so we’ll see how that goes.

ffxv. the fandom is dying, yes, but there are whole swathes of the kink meme left to explore and i have a bunch of saved prompts that i love. the characters don’t quite spark to me the way others do, but the character voices are easy and there’s enough there to work with to make them spark.

fe3h. the kink meme goes fast and hard. so much activity! so much enthusiasm! man i’d love to be in on that (even if i could barely get through the second battle lmfao, maybe i’ll just look up the links/cutscenes)

under ‘maybe i really should give this a shot’ consideration:

she-ra. all i know about this is a) the voice acting is Not Good, b) entrapdak is adorable, c) the gays won.

post-s1 miraculous ladybug. i hated it the first time i tried it, but i was super burned out on the fandom then anyway. maybe i just never gave it enough of a chance?? the canon playground of s1 feels super limiting now.

the dragon prince. the rayllum dynamic is adorable. that’s all i really cared about in s1, but maybe i’d find more things to care about if i gave it another try.

Minho had this way of looking at you. Like you were a celestial being among mortals, gifting him with your presence - unworthy and gracious. Like you were the moonlight streaming through the leaves, and he was a moonflower, drinking in as much of you as he could before you disappeared - adoring and needy. Like a cowboy watches the horizon as he rides into the sunset - determined and brooding. He looked at you like Steve Tyler looks at Diana - in awe and in love.

Whenever you caught him looking at you, he would let a smile slowly creep its way onto his face, but never broke his stare. He looked at you like he had nothing else in the world he needed to do. Like his leisure time was best spent just examining your features.

The two of you were leaning against the kitchen island with his fellow members, eating late night snacks and laughing about the day’s antics You were giggling at the ridiculous voice Jisung had put on when you looked over to him. Minho was watching you, chin in his palm and elbow on the counter, a smile plastered on his face. And, as usual, you catching him didn’t stop him. He wasn’t even particularly looking you in the eyes, but studying your face instead, his eyes running over you like he was a portrait artist, and he was about to be told that he had to draw you from memory. You wondered how many times he could look at you so intently before he ran out of things to see.

After good nights were said and the others retreated to their respective rooms, it was your favorite time of the night. Obscure Netflix and chill movie time. Because it was finally October, this meant you were restricted to the Horror genre tab, which included plenty of movies that didn’t look like horror at all. You had selected the film this weekend, and you were very excited to see what Trollhunters had in store for you two.

You were sat on the couch, cross legged and intently watching as several Norwegian college kids ran around a forest. Minho was slightly behind you, leaning plush couch, an arm hooked around your hip. You reached over to the side table to grab your water bottle and took a swig, then copped a look at Minho. Again, he had been carefully appraising your profile, and you sighed.

“This movie’s in Norwegian, dude. You gotta read the subtitles.”

“I don’t gotta,” he said, a smug smile crossing his lips. “Am I not allowed to take breaks from the movie?”

You eyed him, but you both knew he had a monopoly on giving looks. “Why do you do that?”

“Do what?”

“Look at me like you’ll never see me again.”

“Because you are perfect and I enjoy looking at perfection.”

You squinted at him. You had seen enough pictures of yourself to know that wasn’t true - your eyebrows were uneven no matter how hard you try, your lips were weirdly proportioned, nose too wide, cheeks too puffy, eyes slightly off, remnants of acne scars in annoyingly visible places… You could really go on forever.

Minho, on the other hand, was the most beautiful creature you had ever laid eyes on. He had these incredible pearly whites that shone from behind his playful, cat-like smile. These chocolate brown eyes that had a depth of emotion and meaning hiding just beyond them, an intensity you haven’t been able to find anywhere else in your life. This glorious hair that fell just so, brushing over his brows and leaving not a single strand out of place, even after his intense training days. There was nothing about Minho you didn’t love to look at. And his personality was pretty damn good, too.

You wondered, suddenly, if this was how he saw you. If he had poetry filling his mind as he gazed at you so intently and so often, thinking about how absolutely perfect your imperfections were. If he saw your asymmetry as true art, and described it as such. If he wondered, as often as you did, how the hell he managed to fish upwards in the food chain and lock down someone who was so clearly out of his league. 

“What?” He said, laughing at the face you didn’t realize you were making. “Am I not allowed to find you the most stunning a person can be?”

“No,” you mumbled.

You felt his thumb tracing circles around your hip. “Well, I do.” He grinned. “Whether we’re sitting in the living room watching weird foreign films or you’re dressed to the nines for some party, you are absolutely, unequivocally, and unquestionably the most magnificent human on this damn planet.”

“That can’t be right,” you said, looking back at the TV. “Unless you’re not human.”

“Then I’m not human,” he declared, making you giggle. “If that’s what it takes to make me right about how fucking gorgeous you are, I will gladly switch genus.”

And then he kissed you.

Minho had this way of kissing you that made you think his life depended on it. He kissed you like you were in the final scene of an apocalyptic movie and he had come to terms that this was the end. He kissed you like he was Ryan Gosling and you were Rachel McAdams, and this was the only way he could express how much he needed you. Like he knew that if your lips left his, his heart would stop beating. Like he could stop time as long as he kissed you, and he wasn’t ready to say good night.

And lord, did it make you melt.
