I have a new concept to introduce to the absolute mess of Ozcar AU's the Soul Dozen has created 🙈 I humbly present...

Ozpin’s Halfway House AU

Which I have decided to title “A Beacon of Hope”

- Ozpin starts a halfway house for strays, runaways, and juvenile delinquents.

- Oscar (14) was officially adopted by Oz after his parents kicked him out from coming out to them as trans (FTM trans!Oscar is underrated)

- Emerald (16), Mercury (16), and Cinder (20) are the only three in the house court-ordered to stay with him after they got caught stealing to survive.

- Weiss (16) and Whitley (12) show up one day out of the blue after escaping their abusive father.

- Blake (18) ran away from home to join the White Fang and came to him after that went sideways. She's still too scared to go home and Oz's main goal with her is to make her feel safe enough to do so. She helps him a lot around the house.

- I'm creating this AU so you know Cloqwork is involved but I won't rant about that too much (yet). I only mention it because Ruby (16) and Yang (18) still live with Tai, but they visit their uncles all the time and become really close with most of the kids staying there.

- Yang gets super attached to Blake and visits often, finding the smallest excuses to help her around the house and run errands with her (yes, I’m adding Bumbleby to the mix, who do you think I am?).

- Ren (6) and Nora (5) are two little kids Oz noticed snooping around outside the house one day. He questioned them, asking them where their parents were, where they live, if they were lost, etc. When they didn’t have answers to these basic questions he knew what he had to do.

Sheepishly, he walked into the house and found Qrow in the kitchen. The kids are trailing behind him, hiding behind his legs.

“Qrow. Please don’t be mad.”

“Oh no. What did you do, Ozzy?”

Oz hesitantly steps aside, letting the presence of the kids speak for itself. Qrow can’t help but just laugh. He knows where this is going.

“They were just wandering around outside, Qrow! What was I supposed to do!”

Adopt them, obviously! And Qrow agrees. So now they live there, too.

- Pyrrha (22) and Jaune (22) are Oz’s only other staff members. They help the kids with homework, transportation, extra circulars, the more day-to-day stuff.

This post is getting too long so I will stop but yes, I do have more.

I’ve said this about many of my ideas, but this one is absolutely the most self-indulgent AU I’ve thought of. I plan on using this setting and these characters to stay focused on my studies this semester so any and all ideas/questions/interactions with it are greatly appreciated XD

NOTP: Salem. I don’t know why this is a thing, but I really really don’t like it. Or anyone else that people shipped Oz with like Qrow (but then that goes into child/adult relationships which are not great). Also any of Team RRAYNBOW (yes you too, Ruby)

Sexuality hc: Gay I guess? IDK, just mlm.

Gender hc: Cis male, but mayyyybe trans male

Ahhhhhhh, yes, of course, it’s making me so happy that these AUs are so popular today ajsdhfkajsdhfkaslkdfhaks.  Thank you, Spare!!!!!

Ok, let’s see what else I can remember for the

Halfway House AU

- Blake is like everyone’s big sister, especially to Oscar (five years younger), Ren, and Nora (10+ years younger)

- Although, similarly, Ren and Nora become like everyone’s siblings and if anything happened to them, the whole house would break down

- Whitley and Oscar bond over having horrible birth fathers who don’t understand LGBT+ identities (Oscar being FtM and Whitley being gay.  Also, I think I just decided that this AU includes Snowpines)

- It does take the Schnees a little bit to adapt, but once they do, they appreciate everyone in the house teaching them about normal kid things because they grew up sheltered in a rich, strict household

- Things like cartoons, playing outside, having freedom, yeah, they are not used to any of that

- Oz, Qrow, Pyrrha, and Jaune (all the permanent staff members and adults) not getting mad or yelling when Weiss or Whitley ruins something/breaks a rule baffles them.  At home they would have been mercilessly berated for like an hour

- The adults here are just nice, they don’t understand it!

- Mercury starts to feel like a hopeless case for Oz, until he gets Qrow to talk to him

- As far as Mercury cares, Oz is just another guy who sees a “broken” kid he can “fix”But Qrow is different.  Like Mercury, he had to do some shit he’s not proud of, grew up in a gang, and he developed a drinking problem as a result of it all.  

- But, he is also working through it and now has a promising future, a healthy relationship, and a potential career.  He’s someone Mercury can look up to and relate to a little more

Now for some serious angst...

Painful Reflection AU

Ok, so I haven’t gotten much into the bad guys, so lets start there

- Uh, first off, Salem just doesn’t exist in this AU.  Ironwood is the main baddie.

- He does, however, have some of Salem’s inner circle to help

- Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald are human soldiers on Ironwood’s team, sent to Beacon to spy on Ozpin and learn the ins and outs of the complex

- They learn the details of how his resurrection works and they gain an advantage by becoming friends with RWBYJNPR

- But the most dangerous thing they learn is who Ozpin cares about the most.  You best bet that Ironwood uses that information like a nuclear weapon

- After that information gets back to him, Ironwood has his soldiers purposefully target certain people, the most recent victim of which was Summer

- She sacrificed herself by killing a (rarely seen) and valuable human commander to save Ozpin, Qrow, and Tai’s lives

- That day will haunt Oz for the rest of time.  It should have been him taking that kill shot.  After all, if he had pulled the trigger, he would have come back.

After writing up this answer, I cannot stop thinking about Oz sobbing in Qrow’s arms while crying “It should have been me” over and over and over again.  So thank you for that, I am in immense emotional pain!!!
