SABERTOOTH HEADCANONS TIME

Because they are my babies and they have so much unused potential:

I've seen multiple people saying Sabertooth is now a copy of Fairy Tail.

NOT WITH ME.

Instead, you can say : Sabertooth is now known for being an absurdly strong guild, with not very stable members, but very efficient when they have to punch sometime.

Like, there are resemblances with Fairy Tail. But they are worst. Not in a good way.

All and every important member would be in prison if they weren't in a guild.

When FT's guild brawls look like funny fights, Sabertooth's are straight up MMA/birman boxe/krav maga.

And the main 7 (Sting, Rogue, Yukino, Minerva, Orga, Rufus and Dobengal) are also severely traumatized.

They're def not humans anymore.

Rufus and Orga have been in a relationship since forever, but nobody noticed.

Rufus is the official librarian/teacher for the kids of the members of Sabertooth. He's surprisingly sweet with kids. But with adults, it's a completely different story.

Orga is not from Fiore. I have a solid backstory for him, but I'll talk abt it soon.

Yukino looks cute, but she is the most terrifying of them all.

She also has a very dark backstory.

Minerva is very friendly since she works on her issues, but she snaps very quickly.

Rogue and her are fighting for the title of second strongest mage of the guild.

This guy called Sting "master crybaby" because he cried ONE time. He's a bitch.

Dobengal goes by every pronoun.

They're also so discreet most of the time, nobody notices him. Gossip sessions are awesome.

Because he can't be as much on the field as he's like (master duties and all), Sting learned support and healing spells from Wendy.

As a result, he spends half his days at the infirmary healing the fuckers who tried to fight Yukino.

And his nights trying to save his members from jail. He's doing pretty good so far.

The council financed the pool in the HQ because they knew if the mages didn't fight in water, the infirmary would constantly be full.

Sting is very careful with who can be a rank S mage, so the exam is super hard : you have to defy and win against an actual rank S mage (the main 7). But nobody won.

There's also a secret exam which consists of stealing an S quest, completing it without any help and coming back alive, all without being caught. They all got caught.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Fairy Tail doesn't always win the GMG. Sabertooth are their main rivals, and Blue Pegasus and Mermaid Heels won a few times. The most surprising victory was Cuatro Cerberus'. But Lamia Scale never reached the first place.

In Fiore, official guilds can be separated in two categories : those who are loyal to the crown and those who are loyal to the Council. Sabertooth is part of the second category.

I think that's all for now ! I'll try to do specific headcanons for all of them (with redesigns, of course 😌)

Yukino was always weird to me. She was clearly intended to be Lucy but Lissana, but also her design, personality, and motivation always seemed to be in weird conflict.

Rewrite stuff: Yukino is an extremely depressed extremely dedicated mage that spends every waking molment hunting down, tracking, and attacking eveything and anything related to Zeref in a desperate bid to find and save her older sister who was kidnaped when she was a small child. Often working herself to near magic deficiency and exhaustion, refusing to take a break or stop for any reason. She uses Celestial Spirit magic as that's the kind of magic Sorano was naturally gifted at as a child, and she wants to destroy her sister's kidnappers with her sister's magic.

Her parents were dress makers, which led to her and her sisters love of clothing, and her cloak was handmade to stand up to the harsh elements. The rose in the middle was a reference to her parents' old business, and her earrings belonged to Sorano as a child.

I like to imagine she takes an entirely opposite approach to celestial spirit magic than Lucy, not in how she treats her spirits but in mechanics of how she picks her keys and how she fights. With Yukino relying on a large variety of mostly sliver keys for combat and her two gold keys primarily being back up, while Lucy sticks with a small close set of gold keys for combat with some sliver keys as back up. Also contrasting Karen who over relied on gold keys, and Sorano herself. Them both having a more transactional relationship with their spirits, though Yukino is a lot nicer than Sorano, treating her spirits more like coworkers than anything, but not close to them like Lucy.

I feel like I would love Fairy Tail even more if it focused more on the celestial spirits and heavenly body magic

We focus a lot on all aspects about dragons and dragon slayers, but the stars are constantly important to the plot and the answer to many things. Being a celestial spirit is also really OP cause you can't die, not even if your key is broken, only if you turn human by breaking the laws

There's so much more I want to see, more stardresses in action, the silver keys, acquiring more silver keys, learn more about the spirits and what their previous life with other masters were like,their customs and dynamics, and more of all the lost magics of celestial users (because urano metria can't be the only one)

Honestly, if Fairy Tail started focusing more about Celestial Magic I would love it, and i know a lot of watchers would too

Lucy: romance, angst with a happy ending, probably Y/N

Natsu: Assuming he knew or cared: Crack fics

Gray: fluff, might dip into non-sexual RPF of people he knows for laughs

Erza: any AU where the characters have to mount a play

Wendy: Fluffy found family stuff

Mirajane: anything involving RPF, especially romance

Cana: F/F smut. Also darker fics (addiction, abandonment, mental illness)

Gajeel: Band AUs. Also crack fics

Freed: Rewrites

Levy: Any and all AUs

Laxus: Angsty Band AUs. Preferably with M/M smut.

Bickslow: RPF (of people he knows) + Y/N. He likes to read them out at parties. Also likes wedding fics.

Evergreen: Tooth-rotting fluff. Bix relentlessly mocks her for this.

Erik: Alternate Endings

Sorano: Smut of all stripes. She will read out in public with people next to/behind her. Also chef AUs. She tries to learn cooking from them (this goes poorly)

Minerva: Angst with a Happy Ending.

Yukino: Canon Universe fics. Occasionally dips into RPF. For science. Has a fondness for enemies to lovers.

Rufus: Will say he likes rewrites but has read every RPF fic of his guildmates. Yukino knows and has been sworn to silence.

Orga: Has read My Immortal and nothing else. will keep it that way.

Dobengal: Drabbles of all types. Anything he can read quickly enough to not be noticed.

Sting: Likes Darkfics, but prefers a mix of fluff and crack. Any pairing that fits the right character tropes.

Rogue: Has one pairing he likes and will read nothing else. Genre is irrelevant.

I was never a fan of Libra’s canon color scheme, and her outfit looks more of a sexualized belly dancer than an actual one.

so it was changed to more of a standard one. I gave Libra four arms because I looked up depictions of Libra and found she was often depicted that way, and i thought it was cool. I changed the cloth over her mouth to over her eyes for more of a sense of “fair judgement”, if that makes sense. She’s also one of the tallest zodiac spirits, being taller than Loke.

For Yukino, her design was given more of a modest appearance because I hc her as a practicing Muslim. Also, her canon Libra Dress is fucking ugly.

I haven't actually watched FT since middle school, and I'm in college now, so it was a long time ago, but I suddenly remembered the celestial spirits and now all I can think about is how tragic celestial spirits are, how weird and arbitrary the laws are, and mages relationships with their spirits

It took Lucy a year and a key to even learn star dress

it made Yukino a Mary Sue cause what she had to think really hard and already she can use 2 star dresses just like that !

Yes I like Yukino and maybe I would like her to have SD just so I know what it looks like in the future where she works very hard for it , but this this is just terrible . We know nothing about star dress and it had me thinking only strong celestial mages can unlock it with serious Training…turns out that was a lie and anyone can use it apparently.

why can’t Lucy just have a spell/magic she the only one who can use it without someone else can have it

At this point I’m starting to think who ever the writer is idk if it’s the artist dude or Hiro at this point , doesn’t care about the story just wants the money idk but I just know that it needs someone new who actually loves FT and knows it character s without making them a love sick puppy or OOC.

Honestly I prefer if Yukino knows how to use a weapon instead of SD , like let my girl know how to use a Bo staff , a celestial bo staff !! That would make so much sense then just giving her SD!
