You know what I realized?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other work that gets this much shit get this kind of severe criticism framed as noble in the way criticism of RWBY is.
Even something like twilight —I’ve never seen anyone create an hours-long video like hbomb (let alone something like FRWBY that has been ongoing for *years* now) that condemns so much of the original source framed as a noble attempt to teach people how to avoid its flaws.
A lot of other stuff tends to get stuffed in the rigid box of “bad” or “good”—RWBY gets put in the unique but equally rigid box of “bad, but could have been good” and thus when people spend months or years of their lives criticizing it they get to frame it as providing a noble service to other creators.

Just saw the Celtic Phoenix Stream of RWBY X Justice League 2 and holy shit the man is racist.
He and his friends downplayed why the Wendigo use was wrong then when confronted by the fact it was racist, he insisted it wasn't.
That it's okay to use it because it can be used right.
And when the fact it's racist and that it's good to just respect what Indigenous writers and fans have said about not using it was pressed, he kept on doubling down. Then made false equivalence's of Christian, Norse, and Mesopotamian religion.
No matter what, he refused to accept that it is part of a living people and religion and that people shouldn't culturally appropriate it. Especially as a white man.
All while acting so mature when it comes to criticism.
Doubt it's a surprise but it's good to have it be clearly stated - he's racist Liberals

“Fixing” RWBY is a disgrace to the show, the creators, and the fans. Yes, the show has issues, as does every piece of media ever, but the so-called fixes consist of making the female characters useless and subservient, adding unnecessary “fan”service elements, turning Roman into a shitty self-insert. Stuff like this is why the fandom and the show as a whole get a bad rap, and won’t get the appreciation and wider attention that it actually deserves.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

so basically, was having a conversation in the tundra about name-origins, and it was found the surname “Mann” was like 33% jewish, and then it got suggested that Shiloh Mann from Fixing would be jewish if he existed for realsies, and then I made this. So yeah. happy hanukkah lmaoooo

My apologizes but I'm gonna complain about Fixing RWBY a bit more.
They dislike the Ozmosis and they believe Ozpin must be an evil soul parasite that takes over people's bodies and override their identity. This is shown by the fact that "Ozpin" is a named he's had across incarnations, and the real name of the headmaster we knew is "Magnus Rainart"
Now is this a bad idea? No, soul-parasites are interesting; loss of identity, something something, it's cool stuff; however I don't believe it's better than the original.
See the thing about the Ozmosis is that it's complicated: Oz doesn't override the host's personality, they merge; we're still unsure what that entitles but it's clear that is not a matter of Oz taking over the body, the hosts changes him; Ozpin is different from the King of Vale who is different from the Engineer who is different from the Old Man who is different from Ozma, whoever Oscar is gonna be when the dust settles is not gonna be Ozpin in a smaller frame, he's gonna be something else. And that's interesting because it's unpredictable; if Oz overrides the host, we know what happens at the end: Oscar ceases to exist leaving only Ozma; but as it stands we don't know what's gonna happen, we don't know who Oscar Pine is gonna be, we don't know if he'll still be Oscar Pine
It's also morally complicated; first off, Oz has no control over any of this, he can't choose not to reincarnate and not to merge with his host, this happens and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Second, it's not necessarily a bad thing, soul-parasite erasing you it's an objectively bad thing, you cease to exist, for all intents and purposes you are dead; but a merge? You and you're soul-mate becoming one? Well, that's more complicated, are you still you? Or are you him? How do you know? Where does the host end and Oz begin? It's not as simple, and gives room for more complicated questions about change, growing up and evolution, Ship of Theseus and stuff. And I'm sorry for bringing this up again: Star Trek Trills, the Trill species can bond with symbions and the host and symbion merge into one identity, similar to the Ozmosis and that's an objectively good thing is Star Trek, both parts are believe they are growing and evolving by joining (granted in Star Trek the joining is voluntary on both parts)
Basically I feel Fixing RWBY is flattening a fascinating philosophical concept, and I'm not sure why. I don't know if it's because they want Ozpin to be evil, or the Ozmosis is too complex for them
