So, I did try to make a ranking run happen, but due to other circumstances - mostly having to get ready for a Christmas visit while also obeying self-isolation constraints - I wound up running out of time and couldn’t actually complete a full run. Part of it was just trying too hard to play as aggressively as I normally do and only wound up making it to early turn 3. Part of it was not having the chance to experiment and feeling like I had to get it all right in one shot. It’s a shame, because once I did actually start getting some good teams and fights in, it was actually a lot of fun! It’s a bummer to have missed out on it, but I’m glad I tried at all.

Unfortunately I’m not gonna have any of the meaningful rewards. This does mean I will probably struggle with PL ranking when it comes out (due to not having Beach fairy) but that’s not the end of the world; I’ll just have to push to get the fairies I do have ready to make up for it. Really, I’m almost more sad about not having Lee-Enfield’s SPEQ. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but I dunno, I just don’t like missing out on it. 

But at least I did get a score! And that means I -

i try not to spend gems on bundles too much and ESPECIALLY try not to actually buy gems just for in-game resources but that t-doll growth pack is too tempting. it’s something like $20 to get enough training data to raise 7 dolls’ skills to max?? AND a bunch of cores/universal parts/combat reports? christ

220 enhancement capsules, 558 dummy cores, 3,105 calibration tickets, 2,606 universal parts, 12 quick training contracts, 3,892 combat reports, thousands upon thousands of training data and neural fragments invested into new skills and upgrades, 250 slices of cheese cake & icecream cones, and the thing I run out of during ranking prep is fucking PARTS? 

THIS IS WHAT I AM MISSING?

Later this week I plan on streaming some basic attempts at the ranking map. I’m not really interested in score yet, so much as I am in understanding the map’s mechanics and testing some echelon compositions. I did a lot of research on this map and the enemy formations several months ago, and it was... pretty spooky, to say the least. We’ll see what turns out to be most effective!

I can't tell you how crushingly disappointed I am that Girls' Frontline has committed to a time-limited event model for its main story events. It's one of the game's only real flaws but it hurts the experience so badly for people who haven't been keeping up the whole time, and that makes it hard to recommend as badly as I want to.
