The excitement seemed to hum through the air at Longbourn in preparation for the upcoming assembly at Meryton. Lydia and Kitty ran through the house in a sing-song about the evening's impending dancing and frivolity that awaited them. Mary sat at the pianoforte plunking out a sour tune. Lizzy curled Jane's lovely locks and Beatrice sat in a room by herself, drawing the landscape from the view of her window seat, humming a tune to herself as she went sketched.

It was not that Beatrice Bennet disliked assemblies. In fact, she found them rather gay; but like her sister Jane, Beatrice was painfully shy about the opposite sex. Except, Beatrice was far worse. If a man so much as looked her direction, her cheeks would flush and words fled her mind. She wished she was half as witty as Lizzy when it came to such matters or that her beauty and grace might make up for her lack of words, like Jane. Instead, she was simply forced to muddle her way through, much to the dismay of her mother. Beatrice feared she was forever going to be a burden to her father.

Beatrice knew she should be readying herself for the assembly, but there would be no one there she wanted to impress. Almost all the gentlemen that would be in attendance already had their eyes set on a woman. Well, all but the two unmarried gentlemen newly arrived in the area.  Mama hoped that Jane would catch the eye of one of the gentlemen.  But Beatrice had heard through the grapevine that the other man was rather dour.

Quick Question

Sorry, thinking about when I post Belle and Mia’s stories and just wanted to check something as I had an idea:

Do people prefer fanfiction to be uploaded all in one go, or week-by-week updates?

I only ever start posting fanfiction when I’ve written all of it, so I could do it either way; and I’m thinking of doing their stories in the New Year because hopefully I would have edited them by then.

Hello there! OCBingo '22 ask for Julius:

What is is relationship with his mother and sister like? (or what was it like, if they are no longer with us?)

Julius’ relationship with his mother and sister used to be good. They used to be a tight knit family who moved and grew together, but subtle signs were developing during his high school years that were indicative of a not-so-strongly-bonded group, but he didn’t notice it because he had problems of his own to deal with. Neither him or his sister or his mother realised that simply having a similar way of coping with their situation wasn’t enough to make a bond that would last over distance.

Therefore, when Julius moved out of the glades, took up a career in the air force (to follow in his late father’s footsteps), he lost contact. Currently, he still thinks of them fondly, but he doesn’t feel a need to see them/call them. He just knows they are out there, and that alone is enough.

Obi-Wan and Cori'iana came to a stop in the grass clearing that seemed to be sectioned off for the new queen and former monarchs. The wind blew gently, causing Obi-Wan to catch the faint scent of lilacs coming from Cori'iana. He cleared his throat, startling Cori'iana who glanced at him curiously.

"Tickle in my throat," Obi-Wan responded with a soft smile, despite a glance from the former queen telling him that she didn't quite believe him.

"You'll stay here," Cori'iana told him. Her words weren't posed as a question - they were stated as an order. Having spent time with Obi-Wan before, she knew he didn't defy orders lightly.

Obi-Wan nodded his head, which made Cori'iana smile gently. She gently brushed her hand against his arm before she walked away from him, toward the other monarchs. When she was no more than ten steps away from him, she turned to look over her shoulder to make sure he was still there. Obi-Wan arched a brow at her - as if he were questioning why she didn't trust his word. But it wasn't that she didn't trust him. In her experience, people always seemed to leave, even if she had ordered otherwise.

Following her gruelling first lesson with Morgana, Nerissa staggered back to the physician's quarters to rest. She hesitated to open the door momentarily but knew that she had to go in otherwise she'd be stuck sleeping on the stone floor. After a deep breath, she slowly opened the door. Much to her surprise, the body from earlier didn't seem to be there. They must have found another location to house the corpse and for that Nerissa was grateful.

As Nerissa walked in, Merlin dropped a cloth over something on a table at Gaius's insistence. They both forced smiles on their faces as they looked at her. "How was your day, my dear?" Gaius asked.

Nerissa sighed before reaching up and twirling a lock of hair around her finger. "Better," she muttered as she cast her gaze toward the floor in shame.

When You Need Him?

While things at Yancy seemed to return to normal, or whatever one considered normal, following our return from our field trip - I knew they most certainly were not normal. It felt like I now lived in a giant hallucination from which I could no longer tell fantasy from reality.  It seriously sucked.

But the thing that made it worse was the fact that my own brother seemed to agree with my version of events, which was very unlike my brother. Believe me, most times, we hardly ever agree on anything.  You can ask my mother. She'd totally back me up on that.

Anyway, it almost seemed like the entire school was punking the Jackson twins, except Ashton Kutcher, never popped out of the bushes to tell us that was what was happening. I'll confess, I did expect it a few times. But no, we just had to keep on living our lives hoping he would pop up at any minute while knowing that he never would. I would seriously pray to whatever god or gods were out there to make it actually happen.

And just like that, the figure was gone.

Cori'iana's brow furrowed. But she wasn't one to give up that easily. Without a word to Tohnaanes, Cori'iana lifted the skirts of her intricately decorated dress and fled the dance. Orys Daraay couldn't help but chuckle as he caught sight of Cori'iana's train billowing behind as he ran toward the setting sun beyond the trees.

While she couldn't see where he had gone, Cori'iana assumed that he was likely hidden behind the nearby trees. So, she maneuvered herself through the sea of people before sprinting across the grass until she came to the row of trees she had concluded was the most logical place for him to hide. And sure enough, behind the trees near the bank of the river stood the figure wearing a brown hooded robe. Their back was turned from her, but she could feel it was him.

After a meal and drink, courtesy of Emile Bonnaire, Odette pocketed some extra food in her satchel, unsure as to when her man of honour would allow her such a privilege again. Never in all her years of living had she met a man so bewildering as Athos. Nor one that could rile her quite so easily as him. She reasoned that when they were in Paris, the farther she stayed away from him, the saner she would remain. Paris certainly had to be big enough for the two of them.

Knowing that her travel companion was somewhere about the tavern with his men, Odette went searching for him. She knew that they were going about some business with Bonnaire, but the thought that not one of them stayed with her bothered her. Were they truly so boorish as to leave her alone in an unknown country, in a tavern for God's sake? Musketeer business or not. King's business or not. Not one of the four could possibly have been spared? Although, Odette suspected Athos would believe she would simply head to the cart, but she was determined to prove him otherwise. She refused to be the meek and strictly obedient type. Especially not for him.

Percy and I trudged up the steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art to our doom.

Something wasn't sitting quite right with me. Things just felt off. Of course, I probably should have recognized that when my math teacher seemed to disappear from where I last saw her before suddenly appearing further inside the museum. C'mon, Lia! But I told myself that it was just my mind playing tricks on me.  And I pushed it from my mind because I didn't want a first class ticket to the looney bin.

So, I rationalized that Mrs. Dodds must have been standing inside the entrance hall the entire time. It was only later that I realized that there was no way I could have seen her inside the entrance hall from where I stood near the fountain. But when you're trying to convince yourself that you're not crazy, you'll believe almost anything.

Part of me thinks that this whole OCFA Drama stuff has left people too scared to review fics anymore. Or too scared to look at their reviews. Maybe even too scared to post.

How about we try something?

If you have a story that is posted and you’ve been affected by the negativity of the OCFA, drop the link to your story via the comments on this post. 

BUT if you drop a story link, then you should help spread the positivity too! So, then hopefully there will be enough stories for you to pick from the links in the comments on this post.  Comment on a story or two to help spread the positivity.

If you don’t have a story posted yet, you can still drop some reviews too! I can’t guarantee everyone will get a review from someone else, but I will try my best to leave a couple reviews on as many of the stories as I can.
