What have I been up to?????

Hey all! I'm sure you're all cycling rapidly through the stages of grief like I am, but I thought I'd just check in and let everyone know what's going on with me and when they can expect more comics!

GOOD NEWS: I got a concept art job! I've been working freelance for a client for about two months now and things are going great! Honestly working on short assignments with weekly deadlines has been an amazing break from the slow, constant march of longform comics. I am surprising myself every day and haven't been this excited to learn and grow as an artist in a very long time. Moving forward, I would like to find a full time job in games and stay there, rather than continuing to hustle full-time in comics. I've paused my Patreon for the foreseeable future.

THAT BEING SAID: I will always be making comics!!!!!! I love them a lot, they've been good to me, and I have all these ideas in my head that NEED to be let out. I want to start making them in my own time, rather than as my main source of income. We'll see how long it takes to find true stability in concept (maybe never, lol) but in the meantime I will keep drawing my silly little guys and posting them online for everyone to see. I have to! I have to keep going and making the art I want to see in the world! We have to keep going!!!!

SAKANA: hoping to get back to the fish boys sooner rather than later. I've been stuck on whether to end the latest chapter right away or get a few more pages in there. We're moving into a HEAVY part of the plot, which will be trickier to write, so I've been procrastinating lol. Please don't take my extended absence as proof that I'm walking away from the story: I've just been busy with a new job and I don't know exactly how to get to the next chapter yet!! (also, jsyk, the Webtoon mirror is something I was doing for fun! not a priority!!)

RR: I actually have a few different projects started for RR! Chapter 2 is like 9 pages in, but then I paused and started work on a 20ish page minicomic, which is like 7 pages in. I'm going to finish the mini first and hopefully upload it to itch.io. For Chapter 2, I created this really elaborate environment in an effort to force myself to learn Blender, but then I got a job....so I have no time to learn Blender lol. Still trying to figure out whether to simplify or push forward.

OTHER: yeah...I am a comic artist at heart so obviously I have a million things I want to do. But SAKANA and RR are the highest priority right now!

UPCOMING: I am pursuing other freelance work for shorter, more manageable projects! If you need somebody to redline all your thumbnails, critique the first draft of your synopsis, or make a 20-40 page comic, please keep me in mind!

Last couple asks has me wondering what kind of johndave rep DO you like to read/see? Any examples you can think of in fanworks? And just your own interpretation. Thank you

i have got to reiterate that this is just a me thing. i'm not saying this to police anyone on their writing! i'm just really specific about the way i see these two get portrayed.

this is gonna suck and i'm gonna ramble about it for a while cause i'm mentally challenged. i have a hard time explaining my own thoughts with accuracy. sorry i can't keep this short and sweet. i am the type of person to just know when something is done right. i can't tell you why, but i'll try for you, anon. if you don't want to read all this here, i summarized it.

this is so crude. canon dave is really hard to nail for writers for some reason let alone the specific way i see him. i like a more chillaxed dave. some of the things that really throw me off with dave writing is missing the mark on how annoying he is and dumbing his character down to either angst, obama and apple juice jokes, or him being gay. i think john also encounters this issue. not enough research goes into their interests so writers can only represent them with the bare minimum. nicholas cage, con air, and 'dave i'm not a homosexual'. john and dave are assholes. they tease each other and aren't shy of doing that to other people. not that they're bad people! they care about each other and their friends a lot! but they're not afraid of being really honest about their thoughts or overexaggerating something that doesn't really bother them to poke fun at someone. they can make mendacious remarks to be polite, it just doesn't occur to them as often as just blatantly stating their thoughts on something or someone. i also like seeing them have more naturalistic dialogue. for some reason, when i think of that i think of zach from oneyplays or his character charlie from smiling friends. which is dumb even if it gives you an idea. i feel like a lot of this kind of banter is missing from these fanfics i read. at least, in the way i want it to go. think powerup comics.

gay part upcoming. i think the john and dave's relationship is best portrayed as a childhood crush that is unspoken of. a term i recently learned was "demiromantic", and i think that very perfectly describes how i think john's homosexuality would work. i mean, he doesn't really have a problem admiring dudes, which in itself could be called gay but that's not why i think he would be attracted to dave. i think it's kind of hilarious when people attribute john's homosexuality to him being "romantically interested in cage". john's idols are more like heroic figures to him. i don't like it when that is used as evidence that he's gay unless someone is making fun of him. this is the part where i talk about how john insists on the fact that he's straight. i'm not doubting that at all i think john still likes women and it's easier for him to do so. but he can also develop feelings for someone like dave. hence why i think he's demiromantic in that regard. this is exactly what my sexuality is like, so maybe i am projecting. i like to imagine i'm not projecting incorrectly, though. i think he'd only be able to develop feelings for dave in a setting where he is really a prominent figure in his life. earlier acts of homestuck were like this, but unfortunately the johndave relationship wouldn't work out on john's end with the way homestuck went. their friendship was kind of forgotten after a while, which sucks. in an ideal world, they would have remained in contact and then gotten close again in earth c. but dave was written to be with karkat and jade, which either nulls his feelings for john or opens up a whole new avenue of internalizing it. which is dumb and convoluted and i don't care about postcanon.

dave on the other hand would think about his feelings towards john a little more. i like to think that homestuck dave definitely had feelings towards john. i like to imagine they both developed a crush on each other around the same time, but unlike john who doesn't give it the time of day or even considers it as a crush, dave would. and he'd know that but he wouldn't want to act on it because of a plethora of reasons. probably to retain their friendship and his self image. i guess that could give them some 'angst'.

but you know what? i don't even care for romance all that much! they're bros before they're anything else! and that's all that matters to me! just nailing their friendship in itself is gold. john and dave mean a lot to each other in a platonic sense. even if they pursue other romantic avenues or don't, i don't care! i just like people putting them in a similar setting and showcasing their awesome bromance!

fig. 3, i also like davejade. thinking of iterations of him and john in fanworks that i like is really hard cause i don't read much in that department. what comes to mind is mr. tambourine man and some of deacon_blues's comics. kgtac has a really good dave and karkat too. cole is a spectacular writer. but i've finished neither of those comics so i'm just basing it off the very little i've read. also, none of these examples are particularly johndave related. i just wanted to note down examples of john egbert and dave strider writing i enjoyed. i read like, one comic faygos made but that was also pretty good. pinballhazard is also a phenomenal writer and artist. especially for john! you guys should check all these guys out. anyways, thanks for reading all that!

Deadpool and Wolverine: The Prequel to the Mutant Saga

Here's How the X-Men Could Be Part of the MCU

If you're catching up on comics, the X-Men recently are experiencing one of the worst events in their history as mutants in comic book event Fall of X. Long story short, the "mutants being hated" status quo is in play and pulling the entire Marvel Comics Universe into it. With recent success of Fox's most successful leading mutants in the MCU, the audience is now asking the question... What will this mean for Mutants? In this theory article, I'll explore possible directions that the MCU may take with its cast of incalculable mutants.

X-Men Vs X-Men

What I noticed in X-Men media is that it's basically mutants against mutants. I mean, unless you singularly focus on one goal like the Krakoan Era, there's a chance that a mutant will either defect to another team, fight over leadership, or straight up leave because their feelings were hurt. Seriously, the Umbrella Academy can stay more cohesive than the X-men and those guys are a dysfunctional family. Even with legit reasons for leaving or defecting, it just gets tiresome by the fact they'll probably come back with no hard feelings.

My idea for this issue is that the people will only see the X-Men as the problem rather than mutants themselves. Think of a larger scale Civil War scenario with neutral mutants, like civilians, in the conflict getting hurt because of the X-Men's actions. This can also add themes of security or freedom, profiling, and the abuse of power by the government.

Speaking of themes, let us move on to the overall idea that mutants are always associated with. The exact reasons that were explored in a show with a recent mutant in the MCU.

X-Men and Proud

What might be addressed in the MCU is the prejudice and bigotry of mutants compared to people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and so on. I know that mutants are allegories for minorities, but that's the point. They're allegories. The one thing that I want discussed is whether the hatred is earned by mutants. Because think about it, mutants are called Homo Superiors and considered the next step in human evolution. Those ideas can seriously give you an ego and be generally disliked because of it. They also manifest crazy dangerous superpowers as teenagers, like if Hulk and Thor were emotionally unhinged boys who trashed a city over a taco. That's a more definite reason for people's hatred: constant destruction with no accountability or responsibility. But now we're getting the idea of mutants as a whole being treated as minorities and I feel that wouldn't exactly fit as well if the MCU introduced clearer examples of prejudice and culture.

Another example is the confusion of prejudice for mutants being the same as other kinds like racism and xenophobia. For example, basically Emma Frost, a blonde white mutant, is less likely to experience the same struggles as a black woman or an immigrant from another country. A discussion between her and Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, really exploring what it means to be an outsider and struggling to be accepted would combine both real-world and mutant issues.

But with the Mutant Saga coming, are we going to follow a new cast of X-Men or reintroduce old ones from the past?

The Old and the New

One advantage of the Multiverse is reintroducing old actors from previous Fox X-Men properties into the MCU. You could have The Gifted's Emma Dumont aka Polaris or Legion's Dan Stevens aka Legion. If you bring back characters as cameos, why not use them as much as possible to really build the MCU Multiverse. This would also give some closure to cancelled shows or movie franchises and maybe those characters to the MCU.

False Hope or Idea Generation?

Now, whether these ideas get any light in the upcoming Mutant Saga or just get shoved randomly into projects for no rhyme or reason, I have no clue. I guess it's good to have that kind of expectation with recent X-Men projects like X-Men 97, but I'm not holding my breath.

Writing Plans/Upcoming Semi-Hiatus

So with September quickly approaching I wanted to talk about my upcoming semi-hiatus and what I’ve got planned for the near future.

To start with, let me explain about the hiatus thing.

I’ve mentioned before than Halloween/spooky season is a big deal for me. As a huge horror fan, I kind of see it as “my season”. Every year, I start on September 1st. I watch a ton of horror movies, shows, anime, etc., read horror books, comics, and manga, and play horror video games. It’s just a big horror fest for me and I excitedly make my list of stuff to watch/read/play every year.

Last year, I was so busy with writing that I didn’t get to do half the stuff I wanted. At the end of October, I felt cheated. And I decided that the next year (this year), I would take a hiatus from writing during the months of September and October. And I still plan to do that… mostly.

I will definitely still be very active on tumblr, chatting with you guys, reading your fics, reblogging stuff, etc. And I do have some writing planned.

Firstly, I’ll be writing a Kaji x Reader Halloween fic. I’m going to write it this month and have it ready to post in October.

Secondly is a project I’ve told a few of you about already. It’s going to be an interactive JJK fanfic about finding a partner (both for survival and romance) in a zombie apocalypse. There will be seven rounds, and at each round, you guys will vote out one of the seven available men until only one remains. For that last man standing, there will be a smut scene. Yes, I am straight up copying the format from other authors. Yes, I’ve discussed this with them and will give full proper credit when I begin posting this.

I’ve already written the first three rounds, and am working on the fourth. I’m even formatting them in drafts so they’ll be ready to post each week starting September 14th. So, I’ll only have the final three rounds to write and they’ll be pretty short since by that time the number of men to write parts for will be drastically reduced.

So yeah, there will be a semi-hiatus, but I will still be posting some writing, mostly stuff I’ll have already written before the hiatus starts. Before then, I’ll be posting the Togame fic I mentioned on Friday.

SUPER SECRET PROJECT REVEAL?!!!!!

I think it’s time ya’ll seen what I’ve been working on for the past year. I grown a lot as an artist. Which is great.

But bad for the Super Secret Project. I can’t even look at my old art without dying. Because of this I decided to finish working on it. I might resurrect some ideas and actually make a visual novel from them. Much shorter this time. But everything I made for it, is getting scrapped. That’s why I’m sharing it with ya’ll.

In the upcoming posts it will be just art. In this one I just want to ramble.

So. What everyone was probably asking. What the fuck was actually the Super Secret Project?

Visual novel dating sim.

The story takes place in between episodes one and two with flashbacks to before and during episode one. In my writing I focus a lot on character relationships instead of plot. That’s why I set it prior to them going on missions.

You would be a childhood friend of Geumseagi and Juldarami. There would also be a non romantic option where you would basically become a parent to Bamsaegi. And you can’t forget the secret ending. Where you end up with Scout Gosemdouchi. I’m planning to release the script in the upcoming days on AO3. So keep your eyes peeled for that.

You can think of it as a Christmas present.

Just a reminder thought. It will be cringe. And probably not make much sense. After all. That’s what first drafts are for.

Originally I wanted to make a Juldarami x Geumseagi comic. All I remember from that original idea was a scene where they would go fishing. Like that’s all. Maybe they hook up…

But despite being pretty good at art my brain just cannot comprehend working on comics. So much work for something you can read in a matter of seconds?!Visual novels seemed like a good compromise between prose and a comic.

I wanted to first make all the art digital. That took way too long and the results were… scroll down on my blog and judge for yourselves.

Back then it was better to paint traditionally. It still took way too long but the results are still cute. Even if I really REALLY wanted them to look like the backgrounds from the first 4 episodes.

Writing was way faster. For obvious reasons. I think I will talk about it more in notes when I post it. Biggest problem I realised in the moment was research. I’m just not that good at it. A problem I’m realising with time though is… I got to work on my story telling. I have a tendency to write over the top emotional scenes where everyone is crying about how terrible they are, over and over!

My New Year’s resolution is going to be to read more books. And write a lot of short stories.

Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly dropped into Cannes to talk NCIS: Tony & Ziva and gave the MIPCOM crowd a surprise first look at their upcoming Paramount+ series. In the clip, Weatherly’s Anthony DiNozzo could be seen bouncing off car bonnets, as he and de Pablo’s Ziva David indulged in their usual snappy dialogue and locations including Paris flashed on screen.

The NCIS stars joined Paramount Global’s Chief Content Licensing Officer and President of Republic Pictures Dan Cohen for his MIPCOM keynote, bringing some U.S. star power to Cannes. Cohen brought the business to proceedings by spelling out how NCIS is a serious earner for Paramount Global Content Distribution. “Keep in mind there are 1,000 episodes — we’ve done over four and a half billion dollars of licensing on NCIS,” he said.

Cohen’s keynote got off to a madcap start as Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob and Bill Fagerbakke, the voice of Patrick Star in SpongeBob SquarePants, introduced the veteran exec with a short skit in character.

When they took to the stage, De Pablo and Weatherly shared the short teaser clip and then got into the weeds on their new show.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva picks up after Ziva’s supposed death when Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then, Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe.

In the clip Ziva tells their daughter: “If anyone tries to hurt us, we’ve planned for it.”

“We haven’t seen these characters since 2013 and I think the fans have always wanted to see what happened between them,” said de Pablo. “In our first season, they’re going to get a fix of what has happened.”

Asked why the series came about, the actors and series exec producers said they had experienced huge recognition around the world from fans and that made the international setting feel right.

Weatherly added that when they started out they had no idea that characters would be on the air over 20 years later. He said that the series will have an “international, global feel”, given the location and shoots, which took in Budapest and other European destinations.

Before the Tony and Ziva show somewhat took over, Cohen had kicked off his session by announcing that rights for a new movie had been snagged for Republic Pictures, the revived label he runs as President. The label has taken North America on Adulthood, the latest project from Alex Winter, who helms and appears in the movie. The cast also includes Josh Gad (Gutenberg! The Musical!), Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen), Billie Lourd (Booksmart) and Anthony Carrigan (Barry).

Billed as a darkly comic, modern-noir, it follows a brother and sister who when they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder.

Cohen said Republic Pictures is in the market for “interesting indie films to complement the huge tentpoles the studio has.”

Food for thought, but...

A lot of people assume that Curly got burned by fire. Because obv, fire burns stuff.

But I kinda prefer the idea that Curly got encased by faulty emergency foam at the crash, burning his skin through the chemicals. That would explain why his limbs are what they are now(free the head first so he can breathe again, the hands and feet had to pay the price/also burns rarely lead to amputations (the chance is like 2%), and then four times? That's incredibly rare).

Also no asteroid created hole that needed to be fixed via foam in the cockpit, bc let's be real: with the short period curly would have been exposed to space, he would have lost more than skin and body functions.

(I am far from an expert, this is mostly headcanon and an upcoming comic project speaking. Also I love my faves to suffer for some reason)

Two years of Heartstopper TV, what can I say?! It’s a rare thing for a show to take hold of my life like this and…not let go. I hadn’t read the comics when the show was recommended to me by a friend. I trusted her recommendation, went into it blindly, and sat down to watch it on a Friday night. The moment episode 8 ended, I restarted it and watched it all again halfway through the night. Then the next morning, I woke up and watched it again. Then during dinner on Sunday, I watched it again. I watched S1 FOUR TIMES in one weekend. It was as if I couldn’t bring myself to watch anything else. It was so beautiful and loving and powerful. It made me feel GOOD. And a lot of shows out there today don’t.

I obviously then purchased all the comics and fell down the rabbit hole, taking everyone who’d listen to my recommendation with me. At this point, two years later, I’ve watched that first season an innumerable amount. I could probably recite it word-for-word.

Something shifted for me, personally, with S2. I was somehow pulled in even deeper. I was captivated by the chemistry that brought Nick and Charlie to life. Joe and Kit were born for these roles—it blows my mind if I think about it for too long. The themes in S2 obviously grew more mature, and now having read the comics, I knew where we were headed. And once again, I watched S2 on repeat. That first week of its release, I watched it every night. Then I watched it every weekend through late-October.

And, as many of you know, it inspired me to begin writing my fanfic, Because You Loved Me, of a married Narlie in their late twenties, starting a new stage of their lives. They just…infiltrated my brain. In a way that I could never complain!

So, Heartstopper has changed my life in just two short years. I am now a fan of Joe and Kit and their upcoming projects, only wanting the best for them in this world because they gave us the perfect iteration of Nick and Charlie. I am knee-deep in writing said fanfic that brings me so much joy (and others too, from what you tell me 😉). I am consumed daily by the genuine love of Nick and Charlie. One of my favorite love stories written. One of soulmates and everlasting love, ages and sexualities be damned. For those two can get through anything, together, even as teens.

Heartstopper chipped away at my cynical heart and made me believe in romance again. 🥹✨🩵

Doing work on This is Your Lifepath season 2 has got me thinking about lists of inspirations again. So I rounded up some lists in upcoming projects.

(Ritual Magic for Besties isn't here as its bibliography is fairly short and more explanatory rather than list-y, also like it comes out later this month so you can just wait)

PSYCHODUNGEON

The games listed are primarily about mechanical influence (which is why they're mostly a very large slice of Belonging outside Belonging games). Big exceptions are Subway Runner and DD.TV which are both there for post-dungeon fantasy influence. ACWtM is there for the influence on the asymmetric roles, which are a divergence from how BoB setting elements tend to work, and so my own Fear the Taste of Blood is there because working on that is how I understood that element better.

Probably should clarify Moonstruck is the comic (as like loose setting influence) rather than the film (which bangs but doesn't relate much to PSYCHODUNGEON).

NHSmackdown is a wrestling/performance art show by a friend of mine which was focused on being a nurse. The influence is in how it got me reflecting on being trapped in job which is nominally doing good but isn't protecting you and is honestly actively harming you.

Nemesis Revealed

Nemesis Revealed is a storytelling game of great rivals, where you play someone's nemesis, their dark counterpart and follow their story. It has multiple playsets which frame a different hero to create your nemesis in opposition to.

So the game influences are either in mechanics or in the structure of a book basically. Whereas the other section primarily focuses on specific influences for different playsets (there's a sort of conventional street level superhero, a gender-twisty tokusatsu inspired story, as well as strange space knights and near-distant future mecha crews). It's a scattershot and probably reads very opaque without context (I think that's how all my bibliography lists look which is probably why I place them at the back, where a reader will find them already armed with context, rather than at the start as a taste setter).

Transgender Deathmatch Legend II: Grand Slam

TDL2 actually has two separate lists. There's a traditional bibliography. I referenced my own work I've drawn on because it seems honest. Fox in the Forest is there for influencing the original mechanic. Hieronymus influenced how i wanted the shape of the book to be. Stealing the Throne influenced some non-fighting mechanics.

The other references are more for how they influenced specific scenarios (like one is loosely Raid inspired but turned into smashing up a GIC, while another is a direct Warriors-riff).

I included the Party of One episode i did cause it helped clarify how i felt about the game. British lads hitting each other with chairs is there because it's a mood.

Sh!t Theatre Drink Rum with Expats was a fringe theatre show I did set up for and it ended up influenced the content of a work-in-progress show I did called Crossface (which was a wrestling inspired character comedy performance drama). Some of the content for Crossface has been recycled into some personal essays I have in the book. So paying tribute to that root felt important.

But before that section TDL also has a Recommended Reading list. It's mainly stuff that I think conveys what's enjoyable about wrestling. I wouldn't say everything was a direct inspiration, but if you read the book and played the game and wanted to know more about wrestling; there's a little roadmap in the book.

(Though being serious this appendix is obviously super subject to change before release if anything horrific comes out about anyone featured, obviously the danger in recommending any wrestling tbh)

Project M.A.R.C.Y. is done; what next?

First of all, just to reassure you, Project M.A.R.C.Y. was far from the last of my plans for this AU! Time of Your Life's Google Doc is currently 45 pages and counting, so there's a lot more to come. I plan on taking a short break before starting the next project, though, and especially before starting the next long-form comic! Project M.A.R.C.Y. was a major undertaking, and the next big comic I have planned is nearly twice as long, so it'll be even more so.

Before the next long-form comic, though, I've got a few smaller projects planned: a mini comic (also focused on M.A.R.C.Y.), an animatic, and a oneshot (both focused on Lapis). M.A.R.C.Y. and Lapis have the most plot-heavy backstories out of my OCs, so I plan on laying those out in their own projects before I start tackling present-day stories.

Along the way, I also plan on continuing to make proper reference sheets for more of the characters in this AU! I'll be prioritizing the characters that appear in the upcoming projects, but I'd especially like to make sheets for all my OCs sooner rather than later. I'm also hoping to update the currently existing reference sheets with some additional details, so look out for that!

I can't say exactly when I'll start posting the next project, but I've got midterms coming up, so definitely expect me to take the next two weeks off so I can focus on schoolwork.

THE SERIES

The 4 Pages 16 Bars: A Visual Mixtape trade paperback series is a celebration of where true diversity exists in this industry. It is a living historical document, the gold standard of independent works from creators of color. It is a sampler for potential fans to enjoy our intellectual properties. It is a showcase for existing and upcoming talent and a source guide for those fans to purchase our books.

The first volume dropped in June 2015 with subsequent volumes released in Fall 2015, Winter 2016, Spring 2016 and Fall 2018. We had three very successful Kickstarters for Volumes 6, 7 and 8, which were released in Spring 2021, Summer 2021, and Spring 2022. The ninth volume coincided with the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop in 2023. We’re looking for content that will make up Volume 10 of the longest running anthology series featuring independent works from creators of color.

CRITERIA

This is what we are looking for: EXCERPTS FROM EXISTING COMIC BOOKS, GRAPHIC NOVELS, E-COMICS WEBCOMICS AND COMIC STRIPS

Minimum of four pages (or comic strips) of a property that has been published or will be published within the next six months.

ILLUSTRATION AND/OR FINE ART

Minimum of four images, maximum of eight images for our gallery spotlight sections. Renditions of characters from popular culture (i.e. Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Star Trek, anime or any other licensed properties) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

ARTICLES, POEMS OR PROSE

We are looking for articles that speak to the history of creators and/or characters of color in comics. These articles are not advertisements, but more so academic explorations of the sequential art medium and popular culture. Maximum of 1500 words.

We are also looking for short stories, poems or excerpts of speculative fiction. Poem submissions have a maximum limit of five entries. Short stories have a maximum of 2500 words. Excerpts from speculative fiction have a maximum of five pages.

GENRE

We are open to all subgenres of speculative fiction. Superheroes, Sci-Fi, Westerns, Horror, Humor, Fantasy… We like it all! It just has to have soul, flavor and people of color should be the focus either “in front of the camera” (characters and concepts) or “behind the scenes” (creative teams). The works in previous volumes are from creators who are Black, white, Asian, LGBTQ, local and global. Our main concerns are QUALITY and AUTHENTICITY.

We are looking for COMPLETED works. Things that already exist. You shouldn’t have to create new work to be included in this project. We’re looking for creators who have taken destiny in their own hands. What we are looking for is the next level; creators who have unique viewpoints and vision. We are looking for creators who continue to move the needle.

With that said, the anthology is basically PG-13. 4 Pages 16 Bars has been taught in universities and resides in libraries. So no gratuitous nudity, gore, etc. If you are questioning the taste level of your work, chances are it is not appropriate for the anthology.

BUSINESS

All who are selected must have a professional written biography, minimum of 200 words, for inclusion into the anthology.

All who are selected must have a WEBSITE (not just a social media page) for people to view, purchase products and/or procure services.

I love at the end of MHJS (my hot Jedi summer) when Luke thinks he'll get a dog pile of cuddles from all three Dins but instead they're all propped up against the wall lmao I laugh every time I reread it! Especially because it hints at another comic of yours

But that got me thinking, are all of your comics connected? Are they parts of the same universe or are there some that take place in another AU?

And this is such an awesome question!

Short answer: all comics are "standalone" stories so they are not connected.

A bit longer answer: Because all of the comics are made by little old me, and in different times when SW shows aired, the comics have some connections and also vast differences.

When I was working on Heavy Metal Lover, only s2 of The Mandalorian had aired. I mainly wanted to try if I could make a comic at all, so I decided to pick up right from the end of the season. Also, this is my only comic where Din mostly doesn't wear the helmet.

Basically right after this one was done I started working on Terra Obscura, which I published when Book of Boba Fett was airing. My Luke was a bit more stocky back then and wore a black glove on-off. I wanted to show Din and Luke doing imp-riddance missions for the New Republic while Luke also struggles with thinking of re-building the Jedi Order (and strangely enough, I somehow predicted some canon events lmao). Terra takes place in its own universe.

Boil was a bit of fun and takes place in the same kind of situationship as Terra, where they do missions together. However, it's standalone from Terra, and I wanted to highlight the difference by giving Luke a bit darker hair. The premise is delish but much more lighthearted than in Terra Obscura.

My Hot Jedi Summer was such a long project (yeah, it took longer than 370 pages of Terra) that most of the current Star Wars shows have premiered by the time it came out, and s3 of Mando came out as well. in this comic, Luke is a Jedi academy teacher and Din's role is left open for interepretation (apart from co-parenting Grogu), but you can recognize the hut from the end of s3 in the comic. I wanted all comics have a bit of vague part on some aspects like how they parent Grogu and stuff, and Din's appearance hardly changes.

However – I love intertextuality and I don't mind at all if people see similarities in the comics' universes! They are mainly standalone stories because I love "firsts" so much and usually enjoy writing build-up more than established relationships.

As for the upcoming body swap au, it takes place in a situationship where Luke teaches Grogu sometimes and Din is doing New Republic freelancing. But it's not really that relevant to know to enjoy the story!
