A Little Talk After Election Day...
Hey. It's DecimaDragonoid.
I know most of you will usually expect a quick update on my fanart projects, but I thought I'd take a moment to write down my thoughts about the aftermath of Election Day yesterday.
Now I know that a huge majority of you are not thrilled about what happened. You know, how the failed 45th President Donald Trump just recently got reelected, right? Trust me, I'm not happy either. And I know that Tumblr users have been telling followers to unfollow them if they're okay with this. But this is not what I want to focus on right now. Right now, I just want to express my thoughts about the aftermath, perhaps in a way you'll understand. I won't expect anyone to agree or disagree with me; and I know that some people may end up calling me names or just flip me off. But I'm okay with that. I can't speak for everyone.
I'll be blunt. I hate talking about politics. It's for this reason I'm not well-versed at talking about it. It's not something I like to give my thoughts on because of my inexperience with politics. I'm just not the right guy for the job. I always try to steer away from politics when I'm drawing, blogging, playing video games, or spending time doing the things I love with my friends and family. I'm more of a person who wants to brighten a moment in someone's day.
Let's be real. After yesterday, our futures are uncertain. Mine is uncertain too. I'm not going to point fingers or yell at people for what happened. That won't make yours or my problems go away. I don't know how to make hate go away. I don't. I won't pretend like I know what you're going through. If it's personal for you, I understand that it's not my business. All I can do is provide a safe space for you all to follow along with my fanart projects and musings. If you need a few minutes away from the world and want to visit my blog to see my stories, me, my imagination, and my OCs will always be there for you.
Also, talk to a friend. Talk to a trusted grownup or parent. Meet with your friends and loved ones. Watch a movie. Play a game. Sing a song. Catch up on your favorite TV series. Reach out to others and provide a helping hand. And most importantly, take care of yourself and take your time and figure out what you need.
I know I've said a lot, but I felt it's important to express the emotional aspect of the aftermath of yesterday's elections. I know it'll get dark and things may change, but just know that no matter what happens, things will work out. Some may either agree or disagree with me, but that's fine. Again, I can't speak for everyone because I don't know how you're feeling on the inside.
For now, I just want to let you know something: you're amazing, and I'm sure you've been through a whole lot. You should be very proud. You spoke your mind, and you didn't let anyone tell you otherwise. Anyway, I'll still be here to write my stories and share my interests with you. Thank you for listening, and I hope you have a good rest of your week!
All my best, DecimaDragonoid

I just think everyone should take a moment to consider the question "what is your visual shorthand for cruelty?" and then follow it up with a critical "and who taught you that?"
specific examples include but are not limited to
why is an evil timeline character design disabled? (why do the heroes go through equally punishing battles and never lose an arm, a leg, an eye?)
why are the futuristic scifi terrorists uniformly darker skinned? (why are the heroes so much lighter?)
why is the greedy boss fat? (why are the heroes skinny?)
why is the criminal mastermind heavily scarred? (why is the brooding, traumatized hero unscathed?)
why is the predatory creep a bearded person in a dress and makeup? (why are none of the heroes trans women?)
who taught you that this is how things are?
how long do you plan on repeating it?

my top bit of advice going into the new year: compliment people. especially strangers. literally everyone you interact with if you can. when you buy coffee in the morning compliment the barista's tattoos. when you're chatting with a coworker tell them that by the way you like their outfit. always find something they've chosen to do on purpose. nail polish, jewellery, tattoos, hair colour/style, statement accessory, outfit, etc are all good bets. things people hope will be noticed. things that aren't too personal so it doesn't make them uncomfortable (eg probably not their physical features). i've gotten into the habit of scanning everyone i talk to for something about them that i think is cool so i can tell them. it's a great habit because it makes me notice people and realise just how many neat little details there are in people's presentation of themselves that might pass me by if i wasn't paying attention. and it brings out so much joy. you'd be surprised how much it disarms people to receive an unexpected compliment from someone they don't know. it is the most sincere smile you will see all day long. it feels nice to make people happy but it also means you win the social interaction. establish dominance by complimenting a stranger's earrings and disappearing into the fog

it's been years and it's still genuinely crazy to me that the first two seasons of stranger things had this throughline where all the bad things that were happening in hawkins were directly caused by the us government and that they were excusing the awful things they were doing to their own citizens (children!) through cold war/red scare reactionism. and then in season three there was a secret russian base under the town mall.

sick of this anti-aging obsession. let's go in the opposite direction. i want more characters who are hardened & grizzled & have a face lined with the harrowing tribulations of time--and then halfway through the narrative u find out they're 27

Still stuck on how Aziraphale ate that meat like he was starving. Like he’d been starved for millennia, and he hadn’t even known it, because he’d never once been fed. But we know they don’t have to eat (nor sleep, etc.), so what he’d been starved for is pleasure. Being present in his body, feeling the joys and longings it could feel. Understanding what taste buds were made for. He hadn’t known; he’d never learned to miss it.
Now imagine what a kiss has done to him.

I think there’s a generational difference in compliments and what’s considered appropriate. My mom’s friend (perfect stranger to me) told my I have “milky perfect skin” and I thought it was a wild thing to tell a person you don’t know but my mom thought it was such a nice thing for that lady to say.
Like, I don’t know her. Why is she calling my skin milky. That’s a weird thing to say to someone, even if you do know them. To me, anyway
