this is an ongoing series following the development of quackity’s ever evolving polycule, both together and individually to their guaranteed happy ending (with a lil pain along the way<3)

some general notes about this au: it’s generally canon-compliant up to early 2021, and it starts to diverge from there because quackity didn’t start torturing dream. that’s really the major difference that isn’t explicitly stated, the rest can be picked up by reading!

now that that’s out of the way, let’s go through the series fic by fic.

we start with it’s not a leap of faith if you don’t trust the jump (redux) (T, 7.5k), commonly referred to as just ‘leap of faith’. here, quackity meets charlie and his world begins to change. just as he starts to fall in love, wilbur is revived and quackity has to decide if he’s ready to let himself be vulnerable again after being ghosted by his fiances. (now new and improved for the two year anniversary, featuring charlie+wilbur pov!)

next comes like you were never gone (M, 22k). remember those fiances? they un-ghost in this fic: karl’s time traveling has taken its toll on his memory, and when he forgets quackity entirely, sapnap sets out to ask for his help. quackity is caught between his past and current relationships, unsure of his future with either. things only get messier when karl disappears again, and quackity decides to take sapnap to las nevadas to meet wilbur and charlie. jealousy, insecurity, and miscommunication ensue, but everything works out in the end.

the third main fic in the series (out of 5 planned!) is walk towards love (WIP! M, currently 34k), the wedding fic! nothing ever comes easy for this group, though, and wedding planning gets sidelined as problems begin to bubble up: quackity’s past trauma, karl’s memory loss, and sapnap’s long-held wish of his best friend attending his wedding (along with wilbur’s fluctuating mental health and charlie’s struggle to adapt to human life). through sheer stubbornness and dedication to their love, once again, the polycule gets their happy ending.

now for the bonus tracks! these are a collection of extra scenes that add a variety of things to the main series, and range from silly to heartbreaking. feauturing domestic fluff, multiple povs, and some offscreen scenes that didn't fit in the main fics

updated the about page!! 'cos hooooo boyyy, the information was SO OUTDATED and some of it was straight up incorrect, that it's actually quite embarrassing. hopefully not many people read it... and well, if y'all did... feel free to read it again for new changes. i got some incorrect info about jun that i CORRECTED. and well, with asuka... as i said, she is heavily canon divergent as i have kinda my own story for her - so i updated it with changes i made for Said Story and how she played into tek6 & saving jin & finding her powers. like the bio was so old, it was still made with legacy editor haha (which was now actually a lil hard for me to update 'cos I'm no longer used to it xD)

now it should all be good! i didn't really bother changing unknown's bio, just 'cos... i don't think i had much there. plus unknown is more like an AU, and not canon to my actual jun or muses. so... she's not really all that important lol! (plus i don't think i've even really written her once here - not with anyone else, at least) i also updated my rules a lil bit - not much, but just updated my age. along with stating that jun is open for ships. just 'cos i believe one of my kaz mutuals got asked about shipping beyond jun, and well... that makes me think some people believe she'll only be with kazuya. but that's not true for this blog - RP is funny silly stuff, so i'm def open to more ships with her than just with kazuyas! and i also made it a bit clearer about my canon divergent takes. since i originally stated that jun was "slightly" canon divergent, i changed that to state she's just canon divergent now. because well... my jun does kinda differ from "canon" jun now. not really in terms of her story, but just her personality and how i depict her.

and ahaa I’m sorry I’m not good at coming up with this kinda stuff on the spot but uh. I’ll take a stab at it, I feel like it might disappoint some of you guys but I gotta stick to my guns on how I view their characters 😭

(SPM SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT)

On one hand I love the comedy of it and I think it’s got a lot of potential. It’s the “weakest” character (ochunks) paired up with the “strongest” (Dimentio). The “smartest” character (Dimentio) paired with the “dumbest” (ochunks). These are the stereotypes fandom (and the characters in the game) tend to assign them though, but are they really true? Taking a deeper look, you sort of begin to see they tend to contradict these stereotypes. For example O’chunks is quite observant and caring, he’s SO much more than a dumb meathead. and don’t get me into some of the downright silly impulsive and dumb stuff Dimentio does in the game 😭 They complement each other in weird ways, so I wanted to explore them more. They’re both foils, in a sense!

then the other hand I’m a big fan of angsty headcanons and exploring their relationship in canon.

To me Dimentios got a lil crush but he has no idea how to deal with it so he messes with ochunks a lot. He sees no need to be genuine and thinks he ignores his feelings (cause uh. Evil plans and all) but it just comes off as him acting REALLY fuckin weird to ochunks. Sorta like unconscious flirting but in Dimentios own weird way. To me the FUNNIEST part of their dynamic is that he thinks he’s just galaxy braining and entertaining himself by manipulating ochunks or whatever he tells himself but Dimentios definitely the one who has it bad. But him thinking he’s above things like that all comes to bite his ass in the end, putting genuine friendships and relationships below his self-centered plans. Tragic! Does that make any sense? Dimentio is hard for me to verbalize how I think he thinks. Ochunks on the other hand, is definitely confused/flustered by Dimentio (he canonically calls him a weirdo but do not let me get into their ch 5 interactions it’s too interesting) I also think ironically enough he’s the one who’s the most suspicious of Dimentio. However he also wants to protect everyone on Bleck’s team and that includes Dimentio. Bro would do a LOT for his comrades/friends. Ochunks being the observant/caring guy he is, I think he does pick up when Dimentio accidentally lets his facade slip, and Dimentio’s (very rare and lmao) positive traits are genuinely endearing to Ochunks. I wanna explore that more

I don’t write it as unrequited but Dimentio being…. Well. Dimentio. I think really keeps them from getting officially “together” to me (in canon only, I think aus and canon divergent stuff could be great opportunities) it’s got that unresolved yearning to it that interests me. Anyways that’s all delicious delicious drama to me but probably not what you might wanna hear cause it is, unfortunately, not the happiest of endings 😭

like I said I’d love to see someone do a fluffy take on dunks though

I try to stick to canon as much as I can, but my Ivar is also pretty headcanon driven at times because canon doesn't give us a ton to work with. He's just such an interesting character to me. Just as interesting as Jude, but even more so since they're like two sides of the same coin. I try to take his views on Jude into account but also try to focus on a bit more than that. Like... boy has a one track mind, but there's more to him than just being hyper focused on Milla or Jude. You know?

He's devoted, he's loyal, and he's willing to drop everything in the name of doing his duties. He is a beastcrafter, meaning he can communicate with animals! He dual wields daggers! He's funny!

He's also good with kids and animals. Could be a good babysitter (maybe). Also, he has cool sunglasses! What's not to like?

Also he's (maybe??) near unkillable to some degree? Boy lodged a piece of his own dagger into his head and survived.

Okay so let's get this out of the way. Ivar is a dingus supreme. That willingness to drop everything to fulfill his duties? The downside to that is that if he thinks his duty to protect Milla is more important than say, protecting Nia Khera, he will drop the latter in favor of the former. Much to the annoyance of anyone involved.

Ivar can be pretty intense when it comes to how he decides who he doesn't like. Sorry, Jude, but you're the best example here. Boyo was going to try and kill Jude because how dare Milla have someone else that she puts a lot of trust in instead of him. Boyo got so focused on fighting Jude that he allowed Milla to start crawling away to get to her destination on her own.

So, yeah, he's got a short temper. That can lead to him doing dumb things, especially if he thinks it will lead to him one upping someone he doesn't like.

Also, don't let him anywhere near guns. The fact he accidentally fired one while trying to teach Ludger how to use one should be all you need to know.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?

I've always really liked Ivar as a character. As stated above, I love the fact that he and Jude basically are two sides of the same coin. The fandom thinks he's annoying and while I can at least see where they're coming from, I think there's a lot more to him than what the fandom sees. He's fascinating to me. I feel like he could have made an interesting addition to the party.

Mostly, though? I just wanted to give him some love. So I grabbed him as one of my many muses. Because he's my silly little guy.

I mean, it depends on the headcanon. Like I headcanon Ivar is very distantly related to the Kresnik Clan based on tiny things I picked up on in my most recent playthrough of Xillia 2. Mostly just in relation to the Maxwell stuff. But I could see people seeing that headcanon and going 'Um?? No, that's dumb' and I would be fine with that. Different interpretations, it's all good.

Now if it was my headcanon that Ivar's got a forehead scar from the aforementioned dagger piece getting lodged in his head that people disagreed with, that would be something I'd like to hear about.

IF SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOUR PORTRAYAL, HOW WOULD YOU TAKE IT? 

I mean, honestly? There's always going to be people that don't like how people write canon characters. If someone disagrees with how I write Ivar? That's all good. So I wouldn't be too bothered.

It only would become an issue if someone disagreed with my portrayal and then like... proceeded to be nasty about it. You know?

IF SOMEONE REALLY HATES YOUR CHARACTER, HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?

So far I've not come across anyone who actively hates Ivar, which is good. But I know the fandom is pretty quick to call him annoying which, honestly, I could see as people just jumping to hating him because of how he's presented. Especially in Xillia 1. So if you hate Ivar? That's cool, man. Just let me enjoy my funny little dingus.

What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

I have some clear favorites, but I'm open to new ships, too! I've been in a chokehold with Haikaveh and Ratiorine for while, I enjoy the dynamics and complexities of their relationships--both from a non-romantic and romantic sense. I enjoy Cynonari and have been dabbling in some Mozeqiu. Reigisa was a big one for me from Free! many, many years ago.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

First, what I'm not willing to write: underage and non-con. If I write these, it's for character development, and written in a character's past. If an RP led to non-con, for whatever reason that is pre-discussed, it'd fade to black. I'm cool with n/sf/w, but I do draw the line at that.

In general, I'm willing to write a lot of different things when it comes to shipping. I do love some of the cliché tropes of childhood friends to lovers, friends to loves, enemies to lovers, etc. I'm perfectly fine with adult themes (both dark and n/sf/w).

Give me angst, give me hurt/comfort, give me conflict, give me tooth-rotting fluff, silly misunderstandings, steamy moments of passion. I love the 'getting together' part the most I think when it comes to ships. The 'will they or won't they', the uncertainties of the characters involved, the fear of unrequited feelings, of changing or ruining an already good friendship. I love that mind racing, heart thumping, sweating palms, shaking hands... breaking down the walls of someone who has been through trauma, learning how to navigate the world together. Idk man, there's so much.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

If both are consenting adults, I don't have too much of an issue with age gaps. It can be an interesting thing to play around with depending on the ship. Obviously, with fantasy characters that can live thousands of years, a 1200 year old with a 25 year old isn't that odd to me.

Are you selective when shipping?

I can be. I try to play my characters as canon compliant and try not to delve too far into OOC territory unless it's silly lil crack RPs. AU's are different, and while there's more room for some canon divergence, I still try to keep the character's personality, interests, flaws, etc all the same. Come characters are harder to ship with and might require more discussion or minor plotting, but I'm always open to do that.

In general, I'm pretty open to discussing relationships and dynamics. I do have my own preferences, as do the muses I have. Most of my muses are men and while most I could see as being bi with a male preference, there are a couple that are strictly homosexual and shipping with a lady isn't going to happen. Friendship is always open, though!

As far as exclusivity, I don't have any exclusives. I feel I haven't been around long enough to consider exclusives for any of my muses. How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

If hands are wandering below the belt and it's clear that things are going to progress further I'll tag it as such. I do have a 'cw: suggestive' tag for things I would deem as steamy, but not necessarily E rated.

I'm okay writing such stuff here on tumblr, but I'm also fine relegating it to Discord if a writing partner prefers. I've been in the RP community a long time, smut is nothing new to me and I enjoy writing it.

Who are other muses you ship your muse with?

So, I have my favorites, of course. Having just returning to the RP community within the past year, I haven't really had a chance to explore other ships with my muses than my OTPs. I'm certainly not against it! Sometimes there's chemistry between two characters you'd never think there would be, and that can be fun.

Feel free to ask me! I'd be down to talk about potential ships that are outside my OTPs.

Does one have to ask to ship with you?

I do prefer it, unless it's clear we're both down to ship that ship. Even then, I don't typically auto-ship two characters in an established relationship. Like I've mentioned, I enjoy the build up to that point. I'm okay with characters already harboring some feelings, but maybe not yet acting on them.

A few of my OTPs tend to have the feeling of 'do not separate' based on their friendships, intertwined histories, in-series/game interactions and content, etc. But I still prefer a lead up to anything established. uwu

How often do you like to ship?

My favorite thing to write is romance. I love shipping, I always have. While I do tend to primarily write ships, I also really love other relationship dynamics. So please don't let that stop you from having platonic friendships or familial bonds with my muses.

Are you multiship?

Yep! All ships are in their own separate universe, there's no infidelity going on here.

Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?

I do love my ships a lot, and consume a lot of media of them (fan art, fanfics, etc), but I have other interests outside of them. I want my muses to build bonds with characters that aren't a ship, as well.

What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?

Being a multi-muse, I'm in a few fandoms, haha.

For Genshin, it's definitely Haikaveh. I've loved their dynamic from the start--in a world full of fantasy and magic, they're just two regular guys whose lives are intertwined.

For HSR, it'd gotta be Ratiorine. Their dynamic is really interesting and it's clear there's a connection there that's more than just business partners. There's this mutual respect for each other, even if it's never spoken much to one another. They're both complex characters. I'm so intrigued by how their relationship may change as the game continues on.

As for other previous fandoms, I loved Reigisa in Free!, Victuuri in Yuri!!! On Ice, Kagehina in Haikyuu!!, and others I know I can't remember. YoI and Haikyuu aren't muses on here more bc I don't have a confident grasp on them.

Finally, how does one ship with you?

Ask me! I'd prefer you be straightforward with it because I am a bit anxious sometimes to do so. If it's listed on my 'shipping' section of my rules, or I've reblogged stuff with a ship, I'm usually always down! I don't bite, I promise!

I'm usually always open to discussing ships, whether they are OTPs of mine or not.

I like to talk to my ship partners ooc, too. Anything from just chatting, to talking about plots, headcanons, character analyses, lore, etc. I will admit, my own insecurities tend to tell me people don't actually like me when we don't interact here and there. Hey! I’ve watched all of the show, the nge movies (rebuilds included) and the nge manga and I was wondering if you know of anymore canon/offical nge stories or content. I’ve seen some light novel series at my local bookstore but in general idk if there’s more Eva stories and series out there and what’s actually worth reading. Thanks! I love your blog!

short answer: there is SO much (too much) nge spin-off content and for the most part all of it is both non-canonical and unnecessary. off the top of my head the only thing I wholeheartedly 100% rec is khara’s ‘until you come to me’ animation (amv?), which is really beautifully done and, also, free.

extremely long answer under the cut (and links will be in a rb). somehow this became a fully fledged field guide to nge spin off content bc i am physically incapable of brevity so w/o further ado or whatever:

ok so i’ll try to make this as comprehensive + comprehensible as possible but,as I said, there is a loooot of content and I, shockingly, have thoughts on most of it. let’s organize by categories

Manga:

Every single nge spin off manga is bad in shades and variations, ranging from ‘just kind of uninteresting’ to ‘genuine human atrocity’. Raising Project is probs the most well known and is one of my least favourite pieces of content that has ever been put onto this earth. it coalesces all of the worsts parts of both evangelion and evangelion fans and can’t even manage a decent art style on top of that. there is nothing redeemable about raising project.if you see a copy out in the world please do me a favour and tear it apart w your teeth <3

Aside from That, the other big ‘alternate universe’ manga are probably Angelic Days, Campus Apocalypse, and maybe Petit Eva. I do not care much for Angelic Days or Campus Apocalypse but they are definitely not as deeply repellent as sirp. Petit Eva is, as far as I’ve seen, kind of your usual chibi comedy stuff so if youre looking for something extremely lighthearted that might be for you? I havent interacted w Petit Eva pretty much at all frankly so I’m not exactly sure whats going on there.

Shinji Ikari Detective Diary is another AU manga which I have actually been meaning to read for like......ages but have never gotten around to. It’s (as you can probably guess) a mystery series, which I’m usually into, and I havent personally heard anything bad about it, so I’ll cautiously rec looking into it. if you do and find some good scans feel free to send me way <3

finally, there’s Tony Takezaki’s parody manga, which is just like...a bunch of parody/satire comics. I do actually own it (bc I loooovvveeeee genocyber) and the art is great and its genuinely funny (given you like takezaki’s weird, kind of raunchy humor). He has a comic making fun of fan service that ends w fuyutski beating the shit out of gendo as ‘real fan service’ so like. I do genuinely recommend this one.

Novels:

Not a true ‘novel’ but Eva 1 + Eva 2 is an anthology featuring some essays, as well as comics and illustrations. It is a lot of silly shitty fanservice though, so ymmv. I dont own it (yet) but its on my radar literally exclusively because of Obata’s fucking incredible cover art.

The actual ‘novel’ that youre probably talking about is ANIMA, which is a canon divergence exploring a future where Shinji managed to completely circumvent Instrumentality. I haven’t picked up the last volume since it came out last year, so I can’t speak on it as a whole, but I like ANIMA well enough to recommend it. It reads kind of like an extremely dedicated sci-fi/cyberpunk fanfic, frankly, with that same kind of wildly convoluted but entertaining plot and much more of a focus on idealised character interactions and the ‘wow cool robot’ of it all. Actually, its kind of entirely ‘wow cool robot’ tbh, or at least the best parts are, but Ikuto Yamashita (the writer) was nge’s mech designer so that’s no surprise.

the writing is nothing stellar and it can get fanservicey in a very eyeroll kind of way, but if you go in w reasonable expectations it’s pretty entertaining. like i said, it feels very fanfic but in a ‘200k wordcount crazy worldbuilding fix it fic’ kind of way.

ANIMA expands waaaaaAAYYY more on the evas, which can be cool but does definitely indulge in some ridiculous mecha shit and, i cannot stress this enough, a lot of deeply convoluted and absolutely fruit looped sci-fi plot shit. it does actually literally feature something called ‘Super Eva’ and iirc mari is a cat girl who pilots some kind of wolf robot so yknow... ymmv

theres a buuunch of illustrations included and all the concepts for the evas are very cool and the concepts for the kid are very bad. probably it should be illegal for him to draw asuka ever again

Video Games:

there are too many nge video games. way too many. did you know about the typing game??? what about the multiple STRIP mahjong games???? or the pokemon/tomogatchi game where you hand raise an angel from birth while playing as KAJI???? the detective game where kaworu straight up fucking human murders gendo???

they wrung nge for everything it was worth in the 90s, though ig having a million fucking titles was probs super useful for all that tax fraud

some highlights:

Battle Orchestra: this is the only one i’ve ever really played and it is very fun and very of its time. a pretty straightforward fighting game but ft a big combat polygon

Second Impression: this is the second nge game to be released and i am fucking obsessed with it. what i would not give for there to be a translation available. as far as I have ever been able to tell its sort of a vaguely canon ‘side story’ about joining a band and also befriending a new girl who eventually transforms into a giant fucking horrifying bug angel. its a kind of proto kaworu storyline but gross and i want it so SO bad.

rei ayanami raising project: this is I guess basically a pet raising game except the pet is pre-series rei ayanami. you get to choose what clubs and hobbies she has and the coordinating pictures are genuinely incredible and ill 100% be posting some later. nonsense but there IS a dress up portion so like. might be worth.

Girlfriend of Steel 1 & 2: GOS 1 has the rando brunette that you see all over the place and so like idk shout out to her i guess and if you want to know the context behind that feel free to check it out, but it frankly seems extremely fucking boring and also has GOD awful asuka characterisation so. pass.

GOS 2 is the one where you can kind of date kaworu and afaik thats the only notable thing about it

Angel Rising: this is the pokemon/tomogatchi kaji game and despite how baffling it is conceptually i do actually love the artstyle and am deeply considering playing it myself. also, it does apparently give some good insight into Kaji. a new english translation came out last march so its like actually one of the most accessible of all of these somehow.

Evangelion 2 has the ‘Classified Files’ which is a tenuously canon supplemental info dump, but god is in his heavens and thats all fully available + translated online so we do not have to bother playing Evangelion 2

Secret of Evangelion: I actually know almost nothing about this but ive heard it may have some interesting info on instrumentality? it is very VERY much On My Radar and may be worth checking out 

there are so, so many others but i am just so tired.

Animation:

There are a few Petit Eva OVAs which are all in the same silly slice-of-life style and seem mostly whatever except for an episode which is, as far as i can tell, entirely about up-skirting asuka so like. yknow what actually fuck petit eva

MORE IMPORTANTLY in like 2015ish Studio Khara had the ‘Japan Animator Expo’ where they released anime shorts made by a bunch of different people. it’s actually where me!me!me! came from, and plenty of other very very cool shorts were put out during the expo’s run. Another Impact and until you come to me were both part of the Expo and are extremely fucking good. Another Impact got a lot of hype, which was well-deserved but DID briefly spark a whole ‘live action nge’ thing which is, actually, my manchurian candidate sleeper cell trigger phrase. until you come to me is much less ‘flashy’ and didn’t get as much attention, but its so so beautiful and you should all go watch it immediately.

I feel like I never really gush about the older SP generation on Tumblr (aside for the moms who I feel a Certain Type Of Way about ;) so thank you for this opportunity Fry!! I'm going to bend the rules, and give two songs here, because I have two parallel AUs that I see panning out for Stephen, which I will now rant about at great length.

The first is "Parents" by YungBlud. My friends affectionately bully me for liking his music but idc his songs still slap leave me alone >:( Anyway BASICALLY for me this fits with a funky lil rivalry that I see developing between Stephen and his son when he hits 16/17 and decides actually, fuck you dad, I do what I want and I like it. Instead of wibbling under his father's watchful eye, Butters starts acting out and deliberately disrespecting him, picking fights and being a general menace. And Stephen just sort of,,, doesn't know what to do. None of his typical methods of corporal punishment are working, and he feels like he's lost all power over his son. Does he accept defeat and offer a begrudging hand of friendship? No! He doubles down and their relationship gets even more dire >:) Hence the song.

The second is "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" by Queen. This correlates with my canon-divergent comfort AU, which splits from Butters' Very Own Episode, where in this case Linda is sent to jail for attempted murder and Stephen is left to look after Butters as a single parent. Naturally, he goes through a massive crisis about who he is and what he’s become, but ultimately he pulls through, because in his heart he really does want what's best for Butters, and will never forgive himself for not being able to protect him from Linda. 

So, he starts seeing a therapist. Works through a lot of shit. Confronts his childhood trauma. Addresses his toxic parenting style. Begins the process of recovery and mending his relationship with his son.

Years later, when things have mostly settled down, he happens to start chatting with Roger Donovan (Clyde's dad), finding themselves on the same PTA board or something. And, hey, they actually have a lot in common. Sparks are kind of flying over here! Chuffed, they arrange to go for drinks afterwards. Just a casual catch-up, nothing to write home about. But they have such a good time that they arrange to go again the next week. And the next. And the next. Stephen’s never had a friend like this, one that makes him feel so comfortable and yet fills him with a strange sort of butterflies. Soon enough, he finds himself coming out to Roger. He tries to play it off as no big deal, despite the fact that he's absolutely shitting himself, having never told anyone other than Butters and his therapist. To his surprise, Roger smiles, and remarks that he had a couple boyfriends in college before he met Betsy, so that’s another thing they have in common. The conversation moves on, but something in the atmosphere has undeniably changed. When Roger offers to buy him another drink, Stephen can't help but flush. At the end of the night, he bashfully suggests they go out for dinner next week, instead of just the bar. And thus begins their whirlwind romance.

Stephen essentially goes through a “second adolescence,” which is something many queer people experience when they come to terms with their sexuality later in life. He feels like a giddy teenager again, going on cute dates with Roger, holding hands in the darkness of the movie theatre, sneaking around behind their kids’ backs. But unlike his real teen years, he’s not trapped playing the dating game like he’s reading from a rule book. He’s ripping up the rules and living his best life with Roger! Blossoming into the Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy that he always was deep down! Needless to say, Clyde and Butters have some... mixed reactions when their parents eventually share the big news- but that’s an ask for another time :D

I ain't even in the LoZ fandom BUT I WANNA HEAR ABOUT THIS FIC

so my (light BotW AU) fic is- at its core- a tale of once-seperated siblings restoring their fragmented bond. After I played the game, I was struck by how lonely it'd be, being an amnesiac wandering around Hyrule without a traveling companion... so I gave him a little sister! AKA, this is a fic where Link wakes up in the Shrine of Resurrection with another person.

In homage to the Wind Waker character, (and since I was too attached to the name by the time I wrote the outline to change it), the sister's name is Aryll.

Here's a wip I've been sitting on of the siblings towards the very beginning of the story, ft. placeholder background:

Now of course, in the grand scheme of things, the "saving Hyrule" part of the plot doesn't diverge from Breath of the Wild canon in this story, but that's because the focus is squarely upon developing these characters' relationship to each other and their growth in understanding themself and their place within this new, wild world. So far, my intent while writing has been to dig deep into the intimate little intricacies of Link and Aryll's perspectives from day to day, bouncing back and forth between them as they begin their lil' world spanning journey.

Now, a little background about where their familial relationship stands at the beginning of this fic- because this is where the MEAT of the story lies, and also where this story becomes my sounding board to vent about ten thousand personal silly little sibling angst musings- Aryll remembers her whole childhood (minus a Few Recent Things, but that's an Eventual Plot Point, Babey), but Link has a form of amnesia that has obscured almost all personal details of his life from memory. Literally all he's running on is survival instincts and the faint idea (which is quickly confirmed) that the girl he woke up alongside must be his sister. Thus... on his end, he has to rebuild that relationship entirely, from scratch.

On Aryll's side, however... she has a lot of lingering resentment towards Link. Because a few years prior, her father died while on duty, and not too long after that, Link walked away from her family and ceased contact with them altogether. She never got a reason why. (Link's reasons for this are... complicated, and deeply entrenched in trauma and the pressures of his role as champion. I have a short prequel fic plotted out about this that I might get to eventually.) So... while there's a part of Aryll that is overjoyed to finally see her brother again, there's also that quiet part that's still harboring a deep anger towards him. That part that's almost expecting abandonment again.

They have a lot to work through, suffice it to say.

There's plenty of other Emotional Issues these two have, but that's for me to write, and readers to explore when I finally post this binch uisdhksngujh XD
