My quote of the day
The F4 race just now was incredibly foggy with a lot of yellow flags and during a safety car he said:
"This is all gonna add to the pressure, all gonna add to the intensity of the situation. And before you chastise these drivers just remember: They are 15 to 17 years of age roughly. And this isn't like the world of soccer or cricket or tennis or rugby or anything like that where all of your practice matches, all of your practice competitions and your training are done behind closed doors, in the world of motorpsort everything is live streamed these days and all these mistakes and all these pressures are thrown at them from a very young age. There is no point criticising them for any mistakes, you'd do the same in their position."
Watching F4 UAE and everyone in the live comments praising the commentator!
He is amazing!!! 🥺❤
#f4#f4uae#formula 4#his name is Jake Sanson and I would recommend to everyone to watch a F4 UAE or FRMEC race these next week!!

F1 related news and rumours from yesterday
Ferrari hinted that the suits (and possibly livery too by extend) will feature white instead of black mixed with Ferrari red
According to BBC, Carlos Sainz was in talks with Williams, which can mean nothing because he should logically be in talks with all teams with a free spot (screenshot below)
Williams and Sauber launch is today (Monday)
Xavi Marcos will continue as Charles' engineer
The F1 Exhibition opened in Vienna
F1 Academy Mercedes livery was posted and it features bright green details on all black
McLaren announced their Extreme E line up
Last FRMEC race was won by Camara and last FROC races were won by Ngatoa and Lacorte
From fans point of view: Charles went karting and livestreamed himself letting people by just to overtake them one-handed, got hacked on Spotify, went to a Paris car show and then played some golf in a funky outfit (normal day as a Charles fan) and Nyck's birthday is tomorrow but apparently he already had a party and invited Max

- i don’t necessarily think qh43 should be the next nux captain over ep but i think there is general disregard for not just his willingness to be put in a leadership position (which is an ambiguous metric but still) but also his ability to navigate public “pressure” and organizational discomfort..... i do think he has all the tools, whether they be organically developed or externally constructed, to weather all public-facing scrutiny of an exclusive canadian-city sports market. does that automatically make someone a good captain? i mean for this team who even knows lol. but also Hey sometimes that’s just a guy’s face. “he looks like he wants to die” since when does that mean he doesn’t want it! (the question is then → Do you want to be captain because you’ve been told your whole life that assuming responsibility is the noble thing to do and you’ve sincerely internalized the tenets of your upbringing or do you actually enjoy that responsibility innately. which.) it’s interesting that all 3 hughes brothers have been and continue to be positioned to fill leadership roles but q/l approach it with the same intensity and moral focus whereas jack mostly fell into his letter by way of “star player who is the heartbeat of the team and weathered the storm with his narratively parallel 1oa captain after all these years” and less so for any marked media capability
- so weird to receive emails from mcl about oscar stuff i keep having to be like wait he’s actually going to be driving soon this wasn’t some fucked up joke... still remember the entire crb debacle unfolding live before my eyes like it was yesterday
- keep thinking about “inevitability” as developmental concept and what we mean when we call people “automatic” in sports... not to veer into 10k hour stuff but it’s an interesting linguistic construction when we essentially ascribe a defiance of expected developmental models and uncertainty to generational talents, Guys who just have it, etc. because we’re like oh there’s no way they won’t be what they’re projected to be or their productive success has to be inevitable...... but in a way automation negates the endless work that goes behind making all of those people into the Elite. i think just the frameworks we use to understand people that far above the rest often lose some nuance because we ourselves can’t understand what makes their cognitive ability and level of adaptability so efficient
in that vein... i do think kimi is insane for getting a reverse grid win from 10th and almost sweeping r3 in his first regional championship especially considering he didn’t even do all the testing weeks because of his broken wrist. frmec is Not That Serious but for all people have tempered their expectations of him i feel like he always finds a way of unlocking a new notch of jr series domination and there is the sense that he’ll perform immediately coming into freca despite it being notoriously unfriendly to "rookies.” even with ob i’m like [tentative f2 hopium re: ability to compete within the top [x]] and i do have some secret lofty thoughts about the [x] seat next year but i’m too scared to speak any of that into existence because there’s so much adaptive uncertainty going into f2, especially at that age and straight from a single year in f3. theo cautionary tale lol. but kimi is really....... sometimes Inevitable is the only word. and in the end it’s the same with cb98 (← tangentially i do find it so narratively satisfying that 87/97/98 all played in different chl leagues. also jersey number circularity!)

Newey recalls the last-lap defeat which left Vettel absolutely distraught | RaceFans Round-up
In the round-up: Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey describes how Sebastian Vettel reacted to his famous last-lap defeat by Jenson Button in the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. Join RaceFans on Facebook Don't miss anything from RaceFans - join us on Facebook here to see whenever a new article has been added: In brief Newey recalls podium that hurt Vettel and inspired team Vettel took pole and led all but two laps of the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. He began the final lap in the lead, but a mistake halfway around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve allowed McLaren’s Jenson Button through to nab the win “Jenson beat him. And he was absolutely distraught at that because he felt he had not driven as well as he could have done, and therefore he had lost what should have been a dominant win,” Newey recalled in a Red Bull podcast. The defeat made a big impact on Vettel as he pursued his second world championship, Newey explained. “Everybody’s packing up the computers and everything in the engineering office around him while he just sat there going through the data with his engineer, going through the television feeds and stuff. He wanted to understand what he could do better should that situation arise again. “I think that dedication, that played through into the team as well. That meant that then the team often prepared to put in that extra mile because they saw his work and commitment that he was prepared to put in.” Alonso banks on needing extra engine Fernando Alonso has told his new Aston Martin team to plan on needing an extra power unit this year, The Objective reports. While the 2023 F1 calendar has expanded to a record 23 rounds this year, and could increase to 24 if China’s cancelled event is replaced or reinstated, drivers remain limited to a maximum of three power units. Using a fourth will trigger an automatic grid penalty. Alonso got through six Renault power units over the course of 22 events at Alpine last year due to various failures. However he is understood to have been impressed by the performance of the well-used Mercedes power unit in his car when he made his first appearance for Aston Martin during the post-season test at Yas Marina. Alonso will be powered by the three-pointed star this year for the first time since he drove for McLaren in 2007. Hamilton pays tribute to Ken Block Following the death of famous rally driver Ken Block in a snowmobile crash, seven-times F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton joined those paying tribute to the late American on social media. “Today I received news of the loss of a dear friend. I am devastated to hear of Ken Block’s passing. He was such an amazing person, always lived life to the fullest,” he wrote. “I remember our first time working together and how positive he was. So much talent behind the wheel. Years ago we had an amazing time heli skiing and snowboarding in Canada. We held so much respect for one another. He will truly be missed and my thoughts and prayers go to his beautiful family. Gone too soon. Rest in peace, Ken.” R-ace GP reveals FRMEC line-up French team R-ace GP have revealed six drivers for their four-car attack on the Formula Regional Middle East Championship. Two of the drivers, Levente Revesz and Formula 4 graduate Nikhil Bohra, will do all five rounds of the series which runs through January and February. Francesco Braschi and Martinius Stenshorne will share the third car, with Braschi doing the first two rounds and Nicolas Todt’s protege Stenshorne doing the remaining three. In the fourth car, British F4 runner-up Matias Zagazeta will do rounds one to three then hand over to ADAC F4 runner-up Tim Tramnitz. Yk who else had a similar junior career run as Antonelli? Lance Stroll and he is very UNDERRATED and UNDERPRAISED for what he did in the junior series. He used to lead his teammates with ±100 points lead
Italian F4 champ, two formula regional champ (FRMEC & FRECA for Antonelli, FROC & FRECA for Stroll)
