Lucian - yes. always have and always will. he has one or two that he keeps by his pillows and the rest are just TANGLED in the blankets. you ain’t sitting on his mattress without suffocating at least one teddy bear with your ass 😭 - his favorite stuffy is a periwinkle bunny named lala :3 (but we all know his true favorite is kai 🤫)

Evelyn - why would she need a stuffed animal when she has her girlfriend to keep her warm? 🤭

Sam - YES. don’t let him fool you. he will hide them whenever someone comes to visit but TRUST me when i say he has a whole collection of kitty plushies. only cats tho. he loves cats.

If you were to ask Lucian, he’d probably say something along the lines of this: “he’s the nicest, cutest, sweetest boy in the whole wide world. you’d be jealous if you ever saw him. :3”

Lucian - he doesn’t like it. HE LOVES IT. call him babe and he’s down for the count. if he’s fond of someone, he’ll probably refer to them as sweetheart/sweetie or honey/hun. but if we’re talking about his BOO……baby every name in the book. kai will not escape them. his go-to is definitely honey though :3

Evelyn - she likes being called pet names by women lmao. men DNI 😡😡. she only calls violet any sort of pet name and it’s usually “darling” or “dear.” her go-to is 100000%…..DARLING DEAR though bc she’s British!! (ok Edgar Allen Poe 🔥)

Sam - he’s on his KNEES for a pet name. while he doesn’t particularly refer to others with any sort of pet names in fear they won’t like it, he does abbreviate a lot of people’s names. for example: riley = rie, lucian = lu, evelyn = ev, etc. if he DOES call anyone a pet name it will be riley and only riley. he leans more toward “baby/babe” :3

Career: Archeologist, treasure hunter

Relations: Bliss the Bat(best friend), Knuckles the echidna (adopted son)

Universe: Boomverse

Description: Quick on her feet, headstrong, and passionate in everything she does, Mambele is a well-known archeologist and treasure hunter( like a mobian version of Indiana Jones). On occasions, will give classes and conferences on her findings, whether it be on her latest treasure find, rediscovered, or newly discovered abandoned civilizations, or etc.

During a particular hunt, among strange ruins, no doubt left behind by the ancients, or at least a group in close association with them, Mambele scours the haunting crumbling city. After a day of searching around and coming up short, she heads back to her camp only to drop through the floor into what she first assumes is a cave. Only to discover a chamber of sorts. Cords and cables, advanced looking machinery lining the weathered walls. She sees a doorway on the opposite side of the room. That must be the entrance then. Long vines and weeds cover the doorway and dangling through cracks in the ceilings, covering numerous pods of sorts. She's not sure what is inside of them, but she does take into account that they were no longer working. No sounds or lights coming from any of the twenty or so pods. Well, none of them, but one. She takes a closer look, wiping away at least an inch worth of dust, to reveal what looked to be an egg. Resting her hand on the metal surface of the machine, she accidentally brushes her hand against a pad. A screen to her right comes on, showing what must be the vitals of whatever was in the egg. They were still alive?! After some quick thinking and good guesses, she manages to open the pod safely. Observing the egg, she hesitates to touch it. Unbelievable. Absolutely extraordinary. This one little egg somehow survived whatever calamity befell its people. She must be very careful. She cups her hands, ready to take the little miracle into her hands, but halts at the sound of a crack. In less than a couple minutes of being freed from its glass casing, whatever lay inside, for who knows how long, was already so eager to come out. She waits another minute, holding her breath for what fell like hours, before finally, a little snout pops out. The little creatures muzzle, biting at its egg with a single little tooth. She begins to hear squeaks and grunts come from the infant inside a it pulls its head back and reaches its hand through the hole. Bright red fur is the first feature she notices, along with a tiny clawed and spured hand. What sort of mobian is this? If it even is mobian. With an efforted cry, they finally tears their egg in two. Giving her a full view of what her mystery creature. Her eyes are wide, and her mouth is set in a thin line. She can't believe what she's seeing. There is no way. It's impossible. They've been extinct for centuries. And yet, here before her, a little round, bright red echidna puggle wiggles out from his egg. Half of it still sitting on his head. His eyes squinted up at her, showing off his beautiful violets. She can not believe it. Even as he smiles and squeaks for her attention, she can't believe it. What sort of technology could do this!? Preserve an egg for hundreds upon hundreds of years! She's broken from her thought as the puggle lets out a whine. He's looking right at her, wanting her attention and warmth. She hadn't noticed before, but the room was fairly cold. He shivers and looks at her with such sad little eyes. She snaps out of her shock and picks him up. A happy coo came from the little one as he's lifted against her. And did his best to snuggle as close as he could. Mambele carefully wraps her arms around him and observes as he finally gets comfortable. So many emotions and questions run rampant in her mind, but something inside of her manages to push it all down for now. Those could be dealt with later. She must focus on the now. Like, packing up and getting home as soon as possible. This puggle will no doubt be hungry soon, and she has nothing prepared at home for caring for a young one. She takes a breath and makes her way to her camp, to gather her things and leave.

She'd never planned on having a family. Far too busy with her work. But once Knux comes along, she becomes very dotting and overprotective of the puggle. And even with little to no knowledge on infants, she looks to books and motherly instinct to guide her in properly caring for and nurturing her new charge. Her new son.

“How was it today?” Her calm voice reverberated in her skull, sweetening the once sour taste in Evelyn’s mouth. She always had a way of doing that. Setting down a cup of tea with her slender hand and sitting across the small table, the aura that surrounded her gave the environment a safer feel to it. Evelyn never felt safe. Especially not on days like these.

With trembling fingers fixing the tie on her ivy green bath robe, Evelyn made it painfully obvious how that day went. She dodged the young woman’s eyes by staring at the wood designs engraved in the table, evidently exhausted and struggling to keep her composure for much longer. Telling by the dark circles forming under her beautiful eyes and flourishing skin, there surely was an issue at hand.

Violet observed her for a while longer before throwing a few more words out, hoping for a better response. “I saw someone brought you some flowers to cheer you up. Who was it?”

Sniffling and dabbing her tearful eyes with the fabric of her robe, Evelyn returned to a squeaky mess as she was before. “Ah, those are from my dear friend Lucian. I’ve introduced you to each other before.”

“How could I forget?” She snickered with an undertone of sarcasm, knowing damn well she wouldn’t be able to forget how weird that kid was. Violet was familiar with the criminally insane but she could just tell something about that boy was off. Nevertheless, she knew that he was a good friend of Evelyn’s and did nothing for her to harbor harsh feelings toward him. Therefore, she continued with a pretty smile. “That was very kind of him. He even knows your favorite breed of flowers.”

Despite having a topic to latch onto and keep the conversation going, Evelyn’s replies were a bit stiff. “Y-Yes.”

Silence for a brief moment. Violet watched as she swallowed hard and tried not to break out in tears again, clearly holding something back that desperately needed release. She figured that if Lucian knew about it, then she could put together the pieces too.

“Evelyn, what’s the matter?” Violet’s mouth spoke one thing but her eyes conveyed everything she truly wanted to express. She was genuinely worried for Evelyn; she had seen how bad these breakdowns could get in the past, let alone now that she’s undergoing treatment to help her diagnosis. These panic attacks were no joking matter - Evelyn could seriously hurt herself or others if it really came down to it. That alone made Violet start to shudder. No one in their right mind would want to cross her path in that case.

Again, she didn’t received a proper response. Evelyn continued to dab away her tears and dodge Violet’s caring gaze, perhaps feeling some sort of shame due to the fact she had gotten so worked up again. The truth was, it hadn’t been this bad for a while. Under Violet’s guidance and care, she was able to minimally control her urges that sprung out throughout the day. However, her streak of normality had fallen short because of today’s incident, and it bothered her. It pissed her off more than it could make her sad.

Unable to put these feelings into words, she simply stumbled. “I need to cut my hair, it’s bothering me.”

But that’s not the root of the problem. This was just a silly solution that popped into her head because she was panicking. Violet was sure to snap her out of these intrusive thoughts as soon as she could.

“You don’t really want to cut your hair. That’s just one of your tendencies squeezing it’s way into your head again.”

With hoarse laughter and yet another sniffle, Evelyn had to agree. “I-I guess you’re right. I wouldn’t look feminine enough with it being so short…but I really want to. It’s just getting everywhere and getting tangled and-!”

Standing from her seat, Violet pulled the tie from her own hair and approached her girlfriend. Evelyn was a bit hesitant even considering the idea of sharing a hair tie with someone else. Then again, she trusted Violet enough to be clean and responsible with whatever belongings she possessed.

“Is it okay if I comb your hair out and pull it up? I think it would help you calm down.” Violet cooed. Considering they were in Evelyn’s bedroom, her girlfriend knew precisely where everything was, grabbing her hairbrush off the nearby vanity.

Shuddering from the sound of her tender voice, Evelyn couldn’t up but to agree in letting her do so. “Alright…but please don’t pull on it. I-I hate when my hair gets yanked.”

“Of course, love. I’ll be gentle.”

And with that, Evelyn could feel the strands of ‘messy’ hair being neatly resorted to its original - organized - position. Her throat was suddenly freed from the barbed wire restraining it and her lungs inhaled more air than ever. Violet truly was an expert at this. She knew exactly how to console Evelyn and precisely how to solve any sort of problem with her conditions. Then again, she shouldn’t have expected any less from a girl who was trained by a licensed psychologist.

Finally able to breathe again, Evelyn found herself more open to share what happened that day. “It was awful, Violet. Just awful.”

“Why is that?”

“Thomas Hall.”

Suddenly things made a whole lot more sense. Violet’s eyebrows furrowed as she persisted on brushing her luscious hair, already pissed off just from hearing that name falling from Evelyn’s lips. “What did he do this time?”

Evelyn fidgeted with the tie wrapped tightly around her waist once more while putting together the story. “He coughed on me. At least he pretended to. I told him to stop yelling at Sam and he started acting sick. I know he’s not ill and I know he simply did it because he knows of my condition. But even then, I can’t stop thinking about it.” She admitted with a frown, now completely detached from the situation of Violet touching her hair.

“Oh, I don’t blame you! That’s disgusting!”

“I’m glad I’m not totally crazy. I’ve been sitting in the bath for hours trying to scrub all the particles off of me and calm down, but I just can’t! Who does something like that?! Coughing on people, I mean seriously?! But I know he just wants to get to me. He does this to everyone. Whenever Sam tries to stand up to him, he blabbers on and on with suicide jokes or transphobia. Whenever Lucian tries, he starts rating sex positions and asking him for his ‘experienced’ opinions. I mean, he’s just an awful person.”

“He’s a manipulator is what he is,” Violet snapped harshly. It was almost scary to hear such a tone suddenly surface from her ordinary sweet facade. “He knows your weaknesses so he hits them. Don’t let it get to you, alright?”

Evelyn sniffled again as her loving girlfriend finished putting up all of the long hair she managed to grow for years on end, retreating back to her original chair. Now that she had a chance to talk about it, she felt much better. She even started sipping the tea that Violet made for her. It was still hot. Precisely two sugar cubes and a splash of creamer to even out the strong herb flavor that underlaid itself in the liquid. Violet had perfected it once again as she always did.

“Thank you, Violet.” She softly murmured, her eyes darting toward the direction of her girlfriend’s empty hand. The thought suddenly emerged inside her skull and she couldn’t get it to shake.

With a warm smile, Violet nodded happily. “Of course. You’ve improved so much since the last time you had a breakdown like this. You did very well.”

“I did?”

“Yes!”

“But I still sat in the bathtub for three hours,” she sheepishly muttered. It was almost shameful to even mention again.

“You didn’t harm anyone or yourself. That’s all that really matters, y’know?”

Finally gathering the courage to place her hand inside of Violet’s, Evelyn was sure to avoid speaking about it. Physical affection wasn’t her strong suit, especially considering she could barely hold her girlfriend’s hand without a glove. But she was doing it. She was doing it and she didn’t feel grossed out.

Violet blushed heavily and tried her hardest to avert her eyes from the scene. This wasn’t the first time Evelyn had touched her without a glove, but it didn’t mean it wasn’t rare. Gradually intertwining their fingers together, they both managed to laugh just a little bit. Maybe it wasn’t so bad to hold hands after all.

OCs for Odyssey Mystery Hour pt. 1

Long post but a list of OCs major and minor that appear in OHM because we NEED more older women in interesting roles than basic "housewife" or "bratty kid daughter."

Miss Marbles: Real name Vanessa, Miss Marbles is an art curator and novelist who came to Odyssey to write a new book. She took a job at Whit's End, and that's where her adventures begin. She is also Jason's love interest. She has brown skin with acne scars, curly hair, and known to be tall and plus-sized

Calypso: A computer programmer from Greece, she moved to Odyssey shortly before the Novacom incident to attend university. She currently works at the bank and runs a blog in her spare time. Calypso is described as having olive skin, dark hazel eyes and reddish-brown hair, and a curvy body type.

Regina: The daughter of Edwin Blackgaard and Vanessa's cousin. Following in her father's footsteps to become an actress, she has also written and directed for indie films. She has black hair and violet eyes, and tall and slender.

Sage: Formerly Robienne, she is Miss Marbles mother. A political science major, she assisted Tom during his run for mayor. Later she becomes part of the city council. She divorced Regis when Vanessa was two. She has deep brown skin, graying hair and brown eyes.

Tia Jones: A former employee for Novacom, one of her relatives were killed for attempting to speak out against the company. Filled with rage Tia plots revenge, but is it what she truly needs? She is a darker reflection of Katrina. She has icy blond hair and fair skin.

Nadia: A Muslim girl who lives in Odyssey, Nadia always speaks her mind and isn't afraid to stand up, though she does have trouble with her temper. She has brown skin and wears head scarves in warm colors.

Pollyanna Schwartz: A Jewish girl who makes a living as a mime. She later joins Blackgaard's troupe. Pollyanna is very talkative outside her mime persona. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Cassandra Blackgaard: Edwin's wife and Regina's mother, Cassandra has a very dramatic personality and an odd sense of style. She helped expose her brother in law Regis. She had auburn hair and violet eyes.

Professor Janet: One of Jason's colleagues who sets up expeditions all around the world. Her actual goal was to restore artifacts and return them to their proper home, but she was kidnapped by enemies. Luckily the group rescued her. She has graying red hair and green eyes.

Mary Tillis: A wealthy woman likes to keep her past a secret. While initially aloof she slowly learns to open up. She later gives away much of her wealth to charity and becomes a Christian. She has graying hair and steely grey eyes.

Bethany: Postal worker, takes her job very seriously; she has blond hair and blue eyes

Chloe: Regina's ex girlfriend, she has a manipulative streak and tries to discredit Regina. Later she learns that nobody actually likes her and after a scary run in, decided to change her tune and become more honest. She and Regina don't make up. She had red hair and brown eyes.

Dorcas: Regina's crush, she has stage fright but wants to be a costume designer. She works at a boutique. She has whitish-hair and green eyes.

Brittany: Monty's partner at the agency, Brittany is a spitfire when it comes to solving crimes. Monty has to make sure she doesn't get in over her head! Brittany has brown hair and blue eyes.

Nailah: Nadia's sister, Nailah is a smooth talking laidback woman who owns the boutique Dorcas works at. Nailah has deep tone skin and wears head scarves in cool colors.
