...uno tra i gialli più coinvolgenti che abbia mai letto...semplice e diretto come solo i grandi libri sanno essere...Con questo romanzo breve, Durrenmatt riesce a demolire completamente la concezione del “giallo” così come siamo abituati ad intenderlo nella sua più classica accezione. Sulle macerie dell’indagine analitico deduttiva che da Sherlock Holmes in avanti è stata la base di ogni detective-story che si rispetti, lo scrittore costruisce in maniera originale e realistica una vicenda cruda e dolorosa, ambientata in un mondo ormai senza speranza...Rimane, alla fine, un senso di sconfitta...l’amarezza di scoprire che il destino, a volte, ha un pessimo senso dell’umorismo ed è capace di prendere in giro anche gli investigatori più brillanti e preparati. Irgendwann haben wir mal #derrichterundseinhenker in der Schule gelesen und schon da mochte ich seinen komplexen Schreibstil mit den #bandwurmsätze sehr gerne. Vincolati da sottili fili mentali a una ragnatela che acquista sempre più una dimensione reale, i protagonisti iniziano a sbranarsi a vicenda, rivelando retroscena meschini, scambiandosi accuse, rompendo e creando alleanze. Invece di agire nell'interesse della comunità, ai quindici importa soltanto comandare e ottenere più potere. Non c'è spazio per ideali e valori, dubbi o risentimenti. ...apparentemente superficiale...eppure c'è tutto quello che un giallo dovrebbe avere e anche un po' di più..."La promessa" pare quasi un trattato...una specie di saggio sulla fallacità della polizia...sulla scarsa attendibilità o credibilità di certe produzioni in giallo che giocano e si basano su una perfezione di azioni e reazioni che si incastrano forse fin troppo bene e per questo risultano poco credibili. Nella vita spesso i fatti non si sviluppano come ci si attende e non sempre il delitto è castigo. Durrenmatt è un orologio nel suo incedere narrativo. Preciso, stilisticamente perfetto, dosaggio delle parole contato, essenziale e sempre ponderato. "La promessa" e'un gioiellino che sicuramente stravolge i connotati del giallo classico così come siamo portati ad intenderlo o forse, come dice il sottotitolo, ne celebra un requiem che tuttavia negli anni è stato celebrato più volte, ma che in fondo ha finito con l'allungare la vita del genere. Rimane inoltre la triste verità di una giustizia, di una polizia per certi versi impotente e nuda di fronte a taluni delitti. This politician calls the first-person narrator, a young lawyer, to examine his case with the assumption, that the murderer was someone else. It is no secret that the politician gets his freedom back, what the lawyer never wanted. . That's the start of "The Execution of Justice" from Friedrich Dürrenmatt. The young lawyer realizes too late, in which trap the judiciary throws him, because he mistakes it with justness. It’s a big play about who utilises who, who controls who for his own well. What is justness? All that in so many layers and truly intelligent, landing in the question about the big picture. . My mind won’t forget the picture when a dentist's dentures fall on the ground in a restaurant and the people around him got tears of laughter. The dentist crawling on all fours, searching his dentures and everyone kicking these further through the room. That’s this grotesque Dürrenmatt I love so much. A titillative and honest feeling comes over me. So threatening, dark and big images. And so are the characters, like the boozy, resigned lawyer in the red-light milieu, or the filthy rich, growth-restricted, lonely lady, described as „creature“ that gets carried around on arms. ...capolavoro della letteratura moderna di una bellezza sublime, colta, riflessiva...uno splendido esempio di stile...un concentrato di genialità scritto con arguzia, ironia e quel pizzico di cinismo tipico del miglior Durrenmatt...Solo un maestro può in un racconto di questa brevità dare spazio ad una riflessione profonda ed ironica sul modo in cui conduciamo le nostre esistenze e sul modo in cui ce le raccontiamo. E' interessante vedere come, spostando anche di poco, il punto da cui si guarda, il risultato cambia completamente e quello che è bianco può diventare nero e il bello è brutto e il brutto è bello. Questo libricino, un racconto di nemmeno cento pagine, basta per invertire completamente l'ottica e qui un esercizio di stile diventa una sentenza di morte. I’m not familiar enough with African cinema to know what to see so I was pleased to catch the Senegalese movie Hyenas adapted from #friedrichdürrenmatt’s #friedrichdurrenmatt play The Visit by #djibrildiopmambety #djibrildiopmambéty. It was intriguing to hear producer #pierrealainmeier’s introduction about this beautifully restored movie and how he had to produce it twice, referring to it as his own Apocalypse Now.
