So why is everything related to akatosh/dragonborns so fucked up? Rant all you like dude I am so here for Dragonborn lore!

I’M GOING TO STICK W LIKE, CANON LORE so i don’t swamp you with fan interpretations but like, the thing is that akatosh’s whole... thing has this sort of sinister undertone which i’m pretty sure isn’t bethesda’s inention but like.

akatosh is a dragon, and while he’s depicted in a sympathetic light most of the time once you get into the nitty gritty of dragon lore it’s... a lot more sinister. i mean, he basically endorses the empire which was founded on genocide and fucking up other nations, the main doctrine in the religion is. literally worship your emperor, and it all just stinks of... hmmmm.... :thinking:

it’s my interpretation at least that he’s callous and power-hungry but he doesn’t seem all that far off in canon....

as for dragonborns, the post that spawned that is the revelation that the amulet of kings is a giant soul gem that keeps the souls of dragonborns which is... like, a fate on and i must scream levels, it’s scary.

that and how the ldb is constantly hinted at (at least iirc) that the dragon urges is something that you’re constantly battling against and how you might lose your humanity... this is more tangential but also just. like heroes in general

this is my two cents ill post the link to my coherent post later but really the games stories could be jsut like. the divines in general shove their baggage on to some unsuspecting fuck. ex. martin.
