well he is a multi millionaire but he doesn't carry cash on him ☹️ and pierre told him to put his savings in crypto so he's broke now...... how ever shall he pay for this pizza 🍕

fretnot, mechanics are service people by trade and im sure they can negotiate an exchange of goods for services... if Charles isn't opposed to some hard labour

But You’ll Always Follow The Voices Beneath... || Cami x Lydia

“She’s so demented, hahaha!!! Yo, Jake!! Come check her out!!”

She’d been trying to study in one of the cafes overlooking the waterfront for the past forty minutes. Key-word?  T r y i n g . Cami didn’t normally mind the hustle and bustle of the city come mid-afternoon. If anything, she found a certain comfort in it. But when a particular cacophony of teenage voices and mocking laughter rose up in the adjoining park, she decided enough was enough. Books shoved unceremoniously into her bag, Cami marched towards the rowdy group, with every intention of telling them off before calling it a day. 

But that was when she recognized the butt of their jokes.

... No. She was wrong, it couldn’t be... (?)

“LYDIA MARTIN’S A FREAK!! HAHAHA, SAY IT AGAIN SCHIZO!!”

Dropping her bookbag Cami ran forward. She reached out to grab the redhead who was rocking on the balls of her feet, hugging her front as though she was cold, as though the hot sunny day couldn’t touch her. “Lydia??” 

Sure enough, it was her. More alarming still was the fact that Lydia Martin didn’t rip into her for the physical contact, or for approaching her in public - and that was Lydia Martin’s number one rule. “What? What are you say-...” She could barely hear herself, let alone make sense of the nonsensical words Lydia was stringing together. Hell, the teen didn’t even seem aware of her surroundings... Concern wrought itself into Cami’s features as she tried to make sense of it. Was it a fugue state? A psychological break?... The jeers behind them only grew louder.

“COME ON! SAY IT AGAIN!! THIS ONE’S FOR YOUTUBE!!”

“She... Shesheshe... She- Doesn’t wanna talk to you right now.”

“It’s from a PLAY, you morons!” Cami lashed out, pulling the girl quickly behind her before turning her wrath on the teens. “Yeah!” She improvised,  “It’s called-”

‘The spiders, spiders, don't like spiders...’

“-Arachnophobia!!... By TS Elliot. Don’t you guys know  a n y t h i n g  about English Lit?? Or is that another of the classes you’re failing?”The woman demanded, ignoring the errant shivers that ran down her spine as Lydia continued muttering behind her. “God, friggin’ kids these days!!”  Their smiles were already beginning to drop, although there was still an ambivalent suspicion in the eyes of some. “She has another ten minutes of monologuing to go. Feel free to stick around! She’ll tell you off herself! Or maybe the Mayor will when she shows up for the family dinner. Hell! Please continue! I’d love a first-row seat to that public roast.” Cami baited them, cocking a brow and folding her arms impatiently over her chest. 

It was the straw that broke the camel’s back... Finally. At long last, the gaggle of teens began to disperse. It wasn’t worth the risk. Cami turned back to her young charge.

“Fret not, fret not, friede, fret not friede...” 

“Lydia? Lydia, hey. It’s me, Cami.” She raised her hands to the girl’s shoulders, applying gentle pressure as she searched her gaze. But Lydia was looking right through her. Friede... Where had she heard that name? Could it just have been a random visual memory that manifested within her fugue state? A paper clipping, sensational news covering a traumatic event... Why had that marked her?... What was going on in her head?

“Fretnot....  Fret not, fretnot.” 

“Lydia, I’m right here. You’re safe, you’re not alone. But I need you to talk to me... I need you to tell me if you can hear me right now.”

“Ashes,ashes she fell down!! No...”

“Lyd-”

“No!!!”

I’m really excited for vaskier too (which is how I’ve shortened it for ease of typing at @jackironsides haha)

It’s got inspiration from like 3 other fics but I’m doing my own thing with it and I think it’s going to be satisfying? But since I have an outline and everything and know about how long it’s gonna be, I’m determined to write it all (and let Dor do a quick beta) before I start posting it.

I’m probably gonna give in and start posting it once I’ve got the first couple chapters, though, because I’m weak and love validation. XD
