A great technique some movies use is to actively work with the audience to set a scene. The film gives just enough to spark your imagination, and you do the rest; it's like they incept a thought into your head.
My favorite example of this is from Fritz Lang's M (1931). A man sees a girl playing with a ball and decides to buy her a balloon. She takes it and walks off with it. Shortly after we see a woman calling for her daughter. The next scene is the ball abandoned in a field, followed by the balloon caught in some power wires. The movie never tells you what happened, but you know what happened. It didn't need to show you, you just understood.
Frenzy has another excellent shot like this. The audience knows who the murderer is, and we see them lure someone into their apartment. Instead of the camera following them in, it pulls back. It focuses on the empty hallway, pulling further and further until you're back outside on a busy street. You've heard nothing, and you've seen nothing. But when you see the man walk outside you know the woman will not be following him. Not showing what happened is more interesting than just seeing it.
It's one of the ways a film can spark imagination and thoughtful discussion. I don't want to be told what to think, I want to be able to digest the movie and explore it on my own terms.

I’m back with an obscure fact that I just learned ✌🏻that you may enjoy there was a hypnotist on set during Candyman but not for the bees. Virginia Madsen was hypnotized during the scene in the parking garage and she does not remember shooting it
YES that's why Virginia Madsen looks so realistically dazed, it was incredibly effective! Im not sure if this part is true or not, but I also heard that she declined to be hypnotized again for subsequent scenes (I can't blame her, that must have been unsettling!)

This one's been bugging me for a while:In the live-action continuity, why in all the galaxy would the Decepticons have a bunch of mini-cons (Scalpel and a few others like him) that turn into lensmeters/lensometers?Cybertronian optics work significantly differently than human eyes, so there wouldn't be need for any actual lens-metering, and lensmeters are such specific and niche pieces of equipment that lensmeter altmodes aren't useful for infiltration. So what's the deal with all the lensmeters?
Dear Optically Outraged,
With the loss of his symbiote, Frenzy, Barricade had spent much of the battle for Mission City in a depressive state. When a stray attack sent him crashing into an opticians, he quickly became surrounded by newly-mutated Lens Masters. Barricade promptly abducted them all, retreating from the battle and surviving. He gave the Lens Masters an education in Decepticon philosophy, and they soon became devoted supporters of the cause. As for why they kept their original alternate modes—life as a Transformer can be chaotic and onerous, so AllSpark mutations tend to be most comfortable in the form they started out as.

aight peace out y'all I have no energy left and I'm done the movie. So much for a restful experience after a long day. All I wanted was something fun to watch while folding laundry but apparently this was not the movie to watch for that. I should've just stuck with Rebels
#i kept going out of sheer rage and it is now half past two so i DO need to hit the hay xD#tomorrow i shall wake up and regret losing my temper so many times#but i take comfort i knowing that the level of vitriol expressed in these posts comes nowhere near kylo ren's level of RAAAAAAGE#i get scared quite easily irl even by sudden noises and movements but i think my body's stress reactions and impulses have adapted#to kylo ren's screams of fury. to the point where if a grown man were to kick up such a fuss in my face now i'd be as cool as a cucumber#contemptuous even#i was TERRIFIED of kylo for half the film and spent the other half so angry and indignant on behalf of the people he yelled at#i don't know if i can handle the last movie this one was unlike any viewing experience i've had in a while#i have been spoiled for many things so yes i know that there is Redemption yes i know there is Good Stuff i know there is Good in kylo#yes i know there's as much fluff pointless meandering and terrible lines in the next one as there was in this one#but life is short and this movie just took 2.5 hours out of my life so i Think Not#and i Know that y'all who watched tros and loved it (at least loved the ben/rey parts of it) love ben too#however i haven't the energy to endure another 2.5+ hour star wars movie without any of the original stuff's magic and wonder and fun#and the tlj kylo ren literally ticks all the boxes on my Men You Ought To Avoid At All Costs list#ticks 'em twice crosses out the lines and scribbles all over it in a sudden wild frenzy of fear apprehension and reproach#characterization is all over the place the plot is like riding a dollar store plastic toboggan down mt olympus backwards blindfolded#and handcuffed to a rabid horse's hind leg#tlj liveblog
