Opened in January 2015, the Philharmonie de Paris was designed by Jean Nouvel, though he later distanced himself from the project. It breaks from the pack of concert halls by mathematically creating a more intimate space - "the distance between conductor and the farthest spectator is only 32 metres (compared to 48 metres at the Salle Pleyel for a smaller audience)." The architect worked with various acoustic experts to "develop a bold system of cantilevered balconies and floating clouds, combining envelopment, intimacy and spaciousness." Pondicherry which is also affectionately called #pondi is a union territory surrounded by the state of Tamil Nadu to which it shares most of it’s local culture while the White town at Pondicherry was the secluded section in the city reserved for the white French People who settled in Pondicherry after the city was acquired by the French in 1674. The area was the trading post with other locations like Chandannagar, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. These areas collectively formed the part of French Indian territory. Interestingly all the above mentioned locations were strategic locations. For Ex. Chandannagar is quite close to Kolkata while Pondicherry is closer to Chennai , Mahe is surrounded by Kerala and Yanam is surrounded by the present day Andhra Pradesh. It’s a visual pleasure beyond words to see French architecture - wide criss crossing streets, hanging balconies, wide roads and houses painted with bright colours are typical which is similar to French residential settlement. Though the town was formally handed back to India in 1954 by the French government but the town has been kept the way it was. @burningman festival has revealed a spiralling wooden pavilion as the main temple to be built and then sent up in flames in the Nevada desert this year. The design, by french architect Arthur Mamou-Mani of London-based Mamou-Mani Architects, was selected by the Burning Man Arts organisation, which oversees the creative programme for the annual nine-day event. @mamoumani Named Galaxia, the temple will be formed of 20 timber trusses that spiral up and form a tower as they converge. The triangular trusses will create different paths into the centre of the pavilion, where a giant 3D-printed mandala will be placed.
