So this happened last night at the Republican National Convention.

Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

This is the very first commandment God gave. I don't thing people understand that God would not have said it....if there weren't other gods that were seeking worship. God, nor his words EVER deny the existence of other gods. It repeatedly affirms their existence. We have become removed from this idea, blinded by the satanic lullabies woven into our western religion. This isn't a woman singing a silly song on stage to something imaginary. She is praying and worshipping another god.

Republicans keep saying "America is a Christian country". She just told you the truth. It is NOT. This country gave that up when it did EXACTLY what she said, allowed other religions to come and worship freely and openly. When freedom of religion was put into the constitution, it turned its back on Jesus Christ.

We have our capital named after a female pagan goddess, it is her district. i can't overstate how happy i am to be reading this, it's like getting a present! not only i feel self satisfied bc all things considered i did a pretty good job :) but i get more info!!!! like ohhhhhh that's where the children's names come from! also it took me until today that literally THREE of edward's relatives are called "cornelius hater" this is hilarious. I also didn't find the James C fleeing on horseback element in my own research and frankly? truly a mad lad this one

a couple things that i found interesting in my own search, but full disclaimer i didn't crosscheck this stuff nearly enough, so there's always the risk that it's just someone of the same name and similar enough location/dates.

The UK Poll Books and Electoral Register for 1834 lists Simon Little as owner of Fleetland Farm and a Mr. Edwards as his tenant, if i understood properly!

now the whole reason why i looked into this is blantantly to imagine more of my blorbo's life so here's stuff that made me go :'o

Edward starts as an officer on the HMS Donegal, in 1837. He's 26 yo! and his younger siblings are 22 (Charlotte), 20 (Archibald), 18 (Richard), 15 (Ridley) and just 13 for Janet! Jane Elizabeth, the eldest, is 35 for comparison.

So in the 1841 census, listed as living in the same house are both parents, Jane Elizabeth, Sarah Magdalen, Margaret Anne, Charlotte and Louisa. Like the info dump points out, none of sons are listed as living with them. What were they doing at the time?

Eldest son James Cornelius enlisted on the HMS Asia in 1828 (at 21), but by 1841 he's on the HMS Beacon as Paymaster just like dad. He also signed up for the freemasons in 1943 in malta! Very exotic

i didn't look up archibald bc i didn't know he existed at the time!

Couldn't find anything on Cornelius Hayter, Edward's closest in age brother, except birth and death dates unfortunately, and he's listed as living on Ker Street in Devonport, (same place as his family in 1941) on his burial record the very next year :(

His death was listed in april may or june of 1842 (i did find his burial records but i can't read the month listed as his death :/).

That's during Edwards' time as a lieutenant on the Vindictive (1 year 6 month and 1 day!). I found (with difficulty like damn) the following info on whatever the fuck the vindictive was up to during this time :

"[NICOLAS, JOHN TOUP (1788–1851) commanded] the Vindictive, on the East India station, from 1841 to 1844, returning to England by Tahiti, where he was sent to protect English interests during the arbitrary proceedings of the French (Ann. Reg. pt. i. p. 256)."

However Edward, who finished his posting on the Vindictive on the 20th of oct 1843, might have not seen tahiti!

[nevermind all that about the vindictive, i found a very thorough source thanks to the cold boys research center HOWEVER edward isn't nominatively mentioned as one of her officers so maybe i got his posting wrong?]

Richard John Strachan, his first little brother, is listed as living in the St Helier District General Hospital and Workhouse in the 1851 census when he's 31 yo. His family lives in the same town, so that means that he was ill enough to stay at the hospital full time.

He's listed as a "boarder" and his profession as "annuitant", which is understand as meaning that he recieves money each year, and which is the same thing several of his unmarried sisters are listed as in censuses. on that same page of the hospital census, several people are listed either as "pauper lunatic" and "pauper idiot" (compared to his "boarder") which makes think he was a long term (pure speculation) resident, but for a physical illness? i should look at the 1861 St Hélier Hospital census to see if he's still listed as a resident there, and if i don't find him, try to find his burial because i never found any death info for him, nor a naval career of any sort. mystery!

and lastly, the babiest brother Simon Ridley was a 2nd lieutenant in the royal navy but posted at the Plymouth Headquarters in 1841.

another thing of interest is that out of his 6 sisters (six!!!!), only 2 married :o

As the info dump details, Margaret Ann married a commander who later made captain. she's listed as 28 on her marriage certificate but she was actually 34 lol

and the babiest sister Janet married a commander also, at the respectable age of 51 and the guy got promoted up to vice admiral :o in 1881 when they were living with his adult son from a previous marriage, they had both a cook and housemaid! when she died at 85 yo, she left part of her effects to Alice Maud, her spinster niece (one of margaret's daughters!)

both married sisters had navy husbands, and it made me wonder how they met, like was margaret's husband serving with her older brother? or they were introduced at a navy function while her baby brother was trying to get a good commission? very jane austen

William I. Goldman (1856 – 1922), also known as Billy Goldman, was an American commercial photographer based in Reading, Pennsylvania. A freemason and pillar of the community, Goldman photographed the citizens of Reading but also secretly assembled a collection of photographs of the prostitutes of Sallie Shearer’s brothel, which was near his studio.

His brothel photographs were apparently known only to Goldman and his subjects and, as far as is known, were not sold or published during his lifetime. They were mounted in albums where they remained until the early 21st century when they were acquired by Robert Flynn Johnson, a historian of photography, who published them in 2018. This story does reminds of the works from E. Bellocq an American professional photographer who worked in New Orleans during the early 20th century. Bellocq is remembered for his haunting photographs of the prostitutes of Storyville, New Orleans’ legalized red-light district.

i decided to try and figure out what the deal with sovereign citizens is, and have found a pdf of something titled '4 flag says you're schwag' which declares itself to be a sovereign citizen's handbook, and so far, i'm not feeling very enlighted

there has been some convoluted nonsense about names in allcaps, a section discussing the us-flag in great detail, and something about declaring yourself a ship sailing under us-flag which somehow makes you a subject of the district of columbia?

I have been reading varying opinions as to the question of whether or not Alexander Hamilton was a Freemason. Like other questions regarding his life, this seems riddled with controversy. Do you know anything about this? Thank you.

Hamilton wasn't ever a Freemason, but he did have associations with Masons; especially with Washington.

The confusion sprouted from when - Masonic writer and the historian of the Grand Council of Connecticut Royal and Select Masters - James R. Case, claimed Hamilton was a Mason in 1955. In his essay The Hamilton Bi-Centennial, he said Hamilton visited the American Union Lodge in 1779 and 1780. When actually it was Lieutenant John Hamilton — of the first Maryland regiment, and member of Lodge 6 in Maryland. Hamilton was a later member of Military Lodge 29.

Case also noted in his essay;

“Since the appearance of the Halsey story, the identification of Alexander Hamilton as a Freemason has been made a matter of record in many articles and publications. The 1946 edition of Mackey's Revised Encyclopedia of Freemasonry goes so far as to state that it was Alexander who was present at Morristown, ‘identified because [he was] the only one of that name then holding a commission in the army.’ This broad statement can readily be refuted by reference to Heitmann’s Register of Continental Officers where no less than twenty-two Hamiltons are listed. The DAR [Daughters of the American Revolution] Ancestral Register contains at least forty Hamiltons and SAR [Sons of the American Revolution] records have more than twice as many. The Hamiltons were extensively patriotic.”

Although in 10,000 Famous Freemasons, Denslow also discredits the belief about Hamilton being a Mason, but does point out that Philip Hamilton II - Hamilton's youngest son - who was an assistant district attorney in New York, was indeed a Mason. He was also a member of Albion Lodge 26, and Master of the same in 1829.

Even in The Petition by John Ward Dunsmore, which is a painting depicting the 1779 of American Union Lodge, (Which was a meeting where The Lodge met to consider a petition to create a General Grand Lodge for the United States with George Washington as the General Grand Master), Dunsmore inaccurately included Hamilton in the painting besides Washington on the left side;

Book I found in the used bookstore where I work. The whole thing looks like this and I have no idea what it’s supposed to be as there’s no clear title either.

This is a problem as it’s in the “to be shelved” pile and I’m the one who’s supposed to figure out where to shelve it.

Congressman Louis Stokes (February 23, 1925 – August 18, 2015) was an attorney, civil rights pioneer, and politician. He served 15 terms in the House of Representatives – representing the east side of Cleveland – and was the first African American congressman elected in the state of Ohio. He was one of the Cold War-era chairmen of the House Intelligence Committee, headed the Congressional Black Caucus, and was the first African American on the House Appropriations Committee.

He was born in Cleveland, the son of Louise and Charles Stokes. He and his brother, politician Carl B. Stokes, lived in one of the first federally funded housing projects, the Outhwaite Homes. He attended Central High School and served in the Army (1943-46). After attending Western Reserve University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law on the G.I. Bill, he began practicing law in Cleveland in 1953. He argued the “stop and frisk” case of Terry v. Ohio before the SCOTUS in 1968. Later in 1968, he was elected to the House. He shifted to the newly created 11th District, covering much of the same area following a 1992 redistricting.

He married Jeannette “Jay” Stokes and they had four children. His daughter, Angela, is a former Cleveland Municipal Court judge who served (1995-2015), while another, Lori, is the Co-anchor of The 5 O’clock News and The 10 O’clock News and Anchor of The 6 O’clock News and former Co-anchor of Good Day New York WNYW Fox 5. His son, Chuck, is a journalist with WXYZ-TV in Detroit. His brother, Carl B. Stokes, was the first African American mayor of a large American city. He was a cousin of funk and R&B musician Rick James.

There are approximately 6 billion people in the world and there is 2.97 million square miles of land in the Island continent of Australia. 2.97 million square miles breaks down to 1 billion, 900 million, 800,000 acres which then converts down to 7,603,200,000 quarter acre blocks of land. So we could hypothetically give every person in the world a quarter acre block of land and they would all fit into an area the size of australia, each would have enough land that they could all have gardens and grow a substantial supply of their own food, and we would still have 1,603,200,000 quarter acre blocks, or an area roughly half the size of queensland left over – plus the entire rest of the world. Now just pause to let that sink in to your brain for a second. ALL the people, thats every man woman and child on earth would comfortably fit inside australia, each individual person could have a quarter acre block of land and we would still have half of queensland and the entire rest of the planet left totally unoccupied.

The world is not over populated at all. Its just very badly managed and and you need have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this bad management is intentional, and it is methodical. Philadelphia students navigate school without access to school libraries – Pennsylvania Capital-Star

PHILADELPHIA – In 2020, Egypt Luckey graduated from Building 21, a high school in Northwest Philadelphia affiliated with the Learning Innovative network, which emphasizes real-world learning experiences. For the entirety of her high school career, Luckey never had a public school library available to her, and she thinks it put her at a disadvantage during the transition to college.

“I never had a library in school where I could actually go, sit, and enjoy reading because I am a bookworm. I love reading, writing, anything that has a creative expression,” Luckey said. “Not having that experience kind of set me back a little bit because I had these situations where I needed help but didn’t know what to do in those moments.”

A 2022 study by Rutgers University found that first-year college students who had prior high school research experience, especially those from schools with certified librarians, felt more confident in their academic research skills and performed better in using research tools and strategies, such as information and digital literacy, and the difference between a primary and secondary source of information.

“Our students need to develop the skills to learn on their own. [They need] the thinking skills to be able to discern information that they can believe, in order to become digital citizens,” Barbara Stripling, cofounder of the Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Libraries (PARSL) said. “They need to be taught these skills, they need opportunities to practice them, and it needs to become who they are. They need to understand the importance of looking at multiple perspectives.”

PARSL is a nonprofit organization staffed by retired educators and librarians. It operates without external funding, relying solely on volunteers. The organization wants to improve public school libraries in Philadelphia, aiming to improve academic performance. PARSL produced a white paper earlier in 2023 addressing the link between students’ reading abilities and the shortage of librarians, proposing solutions that involve collaboration with the school district and City Council to secure additional funding.

In the School District of Philadelphia, the number of school librarians has declined over the past decade, from about 57 in the 2012-2013 school year to just one in the 2023-2024 school year.

Marissa Orbanek, communications officer for the Philadelphia School District said that the district does not have enough funds for all the positions that are ultimately needed and desired.

“We will continue to advocate for adequate and equitable funding for education so that historically underfunded districts, like Philadelphia, have the resources necessary to provide all students with access to the 21st-century learning environments, including libraries and Instructional Media Centers,” Orbanek said...
