BASIC TRAINING SURVIVAL TIP - SICK CALL - TAG Your Battle-Buddies - By NO MEANS am I saying never go on Sick Call but I do want you to keep in mind the following information in the forefront of you mind. ONLY go on sick call if it’s absolutely necessary. Sick Call is if you think you need to see a Doctor for any reason you will inform your Drill Sergeant and they will have you wake up an hour earlier to board a Van with the others. You’ll go see a Doctor and take it from there and then go back to training. Hopefully they don put you on Profile which restricts you from certain things. Let’s say the Dr gives you a No Running Profile and that day you’re doing training that requires you to run. You won’t be authorized to participate and you’ll miss out on training and if you miss too much training and cannot make that training up, you risk being recycled. BASIC TRAINING SURVIVAL TIP - HURT OR INJURED - TAG Your Battle-Buddies - ASK YOURSELF, AM I HURT OR AM I INJURED? If you can deal with minor to moderate pain or discomfort do so. There’s a line in which your hurt or injured. If injured definitely seek medical attention. For Example: A Battle Buddy of mine in BCT complained of pain in his shins. Said himself it wasn’t too bad but felt the need to make sure. Said it was painful but could deal with it and keep going. He went to sick call and the Doctor deemed he had STRESS FRACTURES which is quite common in Basic Combat Training and they ultimately discharged him from the Army. He was so mad and said himself it wasn’t that bad and he could have kept going but now he had no choice. AGAIN, seek medical attention if needed but only if you genuinely feel it’s necessary for those reasons. If you’re hurt, keep going but if injured, seek help. Remember the more training you miss will risk you of being Recycled or Discharged.
