Finally finished (kinda) my mini Boggy the Froggy. I found a purple backpack for him too!

Tried a new pattern this time. Not sure it's my favorite. I have so many frog patterns lol.

Gonna probably add a mouth to the mini one, and crochet an even smaller frog for him to keep in his backpack, but idk when I'll finish that and I wanted to post this back when the fhjy finale aired lol. Took me this long to finish.

I forgot which hook sizes I used for each one, but here's how I decided which hook to use:

I find it helpful to swatch small spheres for amigurimi to test fabric texture and stitch definition. I've started to do swatching work between projects or when I don't want to work on anything too mentally taxing, and then I have swatches ready so I can dive into a project when my hyperfixation hits.

For yarn, I used Loops and Threads chenille yarn. Works fine, sews like shit. Would recommend looking for a better chenille yarn if you go that route.

I did find that while I usually prefer inline hooks, for chenille yarn a tapered or hybrid hook is better bc it doesn't tear up the yarn as much. I've been getting into the Clover Amour hooks, but am trying to find ways to make them more ergonomic.

I sewed the arms differently for the backpack, and decided not to add the feet and tail. I'll keep them in his backpack tho in case I decide to add them later.

This pattern is also great for making little kitties:

I sewed through the top to accentuate the ears, and free-handed the tail until it looked right.

Made a shiny Jigglypuff for a friend at work for her birthday. She's quiet smitten with it.

this is the first ami pattern i made, good practice with increases, well written, no decreases.

when i started with amis i had some years crochet under my belt but basically no knowledge of reading patterns

i saw someone else suggest you should start with granny squares, i very much disagree . granny squares involve starting with a circle, double crochet stitches (us terminology) and stitching between stitches/around chains instead of into the loops of a stitch. amigurimi only requires 1 of those in the vast majority of cases.

you need to practice putting 1 single crochet in 1 single crochet, and then increases and starting in a circle, and that's just not what granny squares are

Friends who crochet!!

Do you need foundational knowledge to do amigurumi? I used to knit a little, many years ago, but crochet would be new for me. Should I start with something flat first? Opinions please 🥺

I changed up a few features but overall it was a very fun, beginner friendly pattern. Great for anyone wanting to try amigurumi (the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures) or just wanting a simple pattern to kill the time

You may have heard of the PinDIY scandal by now. If not, let me bring you up to speed with my personal experience.

Yesterday, I discovered that the website PinDIY . com was selling on copies of my PDF patterns - without my knowledge or permission of course.

The website is forum-esque, so I created an account and left comments on my patterns, explaining that I did not give permission for the patterns to be shared this way, and providing the legal routes.

I know this is a risk of the Internet which is exactly why I offer all of my patterns for free on my website - I only sell the PDFs.

I check back in this morning, and see that an admin (who I had messaged asking how to report stolen patterns) had deleted Every. Single. One. of my comments, marked them as spam and got me a 30 day block.

All this to say, don't use this website, it is nothing more than stealing from pattern designers. I know for a fact that I am not the only designer affected by this.

Obviously I have scoured the site for any kind of contact address but they are not making it easy. If anyone finds one, do let me know :)

I made this pattern for a friends birthday, they really like the game so.... anyway if I did it again I think I would make the body/legs more straight like the sprite and not so - nutsack looking - Here's the pattern if anyone else wants a go to improve it :' ) Would love to see it if you do !
