FANS OF THE ALIENIST WILL LOVE THE RIPPER LIVES
Tumblr media
The Ripper Lives is a Victorian gothic murder mystery that continues the story of Jack the Ripper after the Canonical Five. The serialized novel is narrated from a first-person perspective by Scotland Yard Inspector Frederick Abberline after retirement. Abberline, greatly bothered that the public has never been given closure in the Ripper case, finally reveals what happened after the death of Mary Jane Kelly, confirming that the Ripper did not just disappear into history as many believe.
Like The Alienist, the 10-part novel follows the 19th-century investigation of an unknown serial killer and includes historical facts. Many famous names associated with the Jack the Ripper case appear and interact with the characters, enhancing the connection between the fictional story and the real-life events.
ABOUT THE RIPPER LIVES: JACK THE RIPPER'S REIGN OF TERROR CONTINUES The world’s most elusive and terrifying serial killer returns in the 10-part Victorian gothic murder mystery series, The Ripper Lives. Dripping with 19th-century atmosphere and intrigue, each thrilling, suspense-filled chapter ends with a shocking cliffhanger that compels the reader forward. The fear builds as the historical horror story unfolds, culminating in an explosive, mind-bending conclusion.
The Ripper Lives is a sequel to the true story that commences after the slayings of the Canonical Five. As a secretly appointed task force works to bring the butcher to justice under the radar of the newspapers, the unsuspecting public believes the threat has subsided. But while hiding in the shadows, the serial killer's compulsion to mutilate has grown exponentially stronger, and for Whitechapel, the harrowing nightmare of tension and terror has only just begun.

I had this question in my mind for a while, but do phantomhives get paid for doing the queen's dirty work? Like how does it work? It's their job after all
Hey Anon! Yep, they get paid through Scotland Yard, as explained in the manga (ch23):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, it's "tradition" for Scotland Yard's Commissionner to bring a financial "recompense" to the Queen's Watchdog while eating dinner together on such occasions (you have the details above).
Additionally, I always thought that Randall's obvious distaste in such traditions actually betrays that he's been around in Scotland Yard and given his fair share of "bribes" to the Phantomhives, probably since Claudia's time as the Watchdog or so (back when she was the Watchdog he was probably the next Commissioner to be). It's also probably why he knows stuff about them, like Vincent owning a photo studio.
Tumblr media
I hope it answers your question Anon! Have a good day!

Frederick Abberline X fem reader- You should not love me (3).
Abberline POV:
Hope Miss Yn will come and meet me here tonight.
With her help, I can get one step closer to catching Jack The Ripper.
But if I'm being completely honest.
I have been fascinated by her since I met her.
There's something about her that keeps me from focusing on the case.
And I know I have to focus.
But she's so gorgeous and I don't know if it's her magical eyes that are (e,c) or her long hair that is (h,c).
Everything is perfect from her soft voice, beautiful smile to her curvy body.
I want her to be mine.
I looked towards the lamp post and there she was.
Abberline: Good evening Miss Yn.
Yn: Good evening Mr. Abberline.
Abberline: Please Miss Yn call me Frederick, Mr Abberline makes me sound so old.
Yn: Only if you call me Yn.
Abberline: Okay thanks for choosing to meet me tonight.
Didn't think you would come because you were afraid of what people would say about you.
Yn: If meeting with you can help you catch the bastard who hurt my friend and can stop him from doing this again, I don't care what people think of me.
People already believe a lot of things about me.
So I don't care anymore.
Yns Pov:
He held out his hand for me to take.
At first I hesitated but when our eyes met I put my hand in his.
His hand was warm and soft my cheeks were getting hotter and hotter.
What is wrong with me?
I held his arm as we walked over to him.
People were staring at us but I didn't care.
I have to admit it felt a little powerful how people were looking at us.
And if you have to admit, Mr. Abberline is a very handsome man.
With his long short brown hair and his amazing smile.
Abberline: Is it okay if I ask you some questions?
Yn: Feel free to ask your questions.
Abberline: How old are you?
Yn: 27.
Abberline: Twenty-seven, you're so young, may I ask how you ended up out here on the street?
Yn: It's like all of us other women out here.
My parents died when I was eighteen, and my parents lost all our money and I lost our house.
Three years later I married a man my mother had chosen for me.
He was a fantastic man, he was kind to me and loved me.
But the problem was that I never loved him the same way.
And he knew about it but still he stayed with me.
He said he loved me anyway.
Five months into our marriage, he died of heart problems.
And then I was left alone with no money, no house and no husband.
Abberline: Children?
Yn: No children.
My husband and I never consummated our marriage.
I've never been with a man.
Abberline: But you are a woman of the night.
Yn: A whore you mean like everyone else calls me.
I fake it with my customers and I'm always lucky they're always too drunk to notice.
Please don't ask me how I do it.
If I'm going to sleep with a man then it should be with someone I love.
You probably think I'm crazy.
He made us stop and put his other hand on my cheek, and looked me deep in the eyes and said.
Abberline: I don't think you sound crazy at all Yn.
And any man would be happy to have you as his wife.
5 years later.
( Sorry I'm running out of ideas so it has to be this way.)
Today it is five years since that night and after that night Frederick and I became good friends.
Unfortunately the murders were not stopped and the day we found Kelly's body he confessed his love for me and wanted me to come with him so the next victim wouldn't be me.
It took me a long time to admit that I loved him too.
But as I said five years later, we live together, married and we have two fantastic children, a little girl and a little boy.
Mary Abberline and Derek Abberline.
The end.

Hello, I would like an analysis by Lord Arthur Randall of kuroshitsuji,
And your working relationship with Abberline and the one-eyed please 🙏🙏
I do not muse Lord Randall. Does anyone in this fandom muse him? 🤔
Oh, but then we discussed what you meant, and you really just wanted an assessment about him. And the working relationship between Abberline and our earl? His working relationship with them?
But I will try to assess his POV, in regards to various things and people, like Abberline and our earl, too!
Lord Randall...
We sure don't see much of him, and we likely won't see much of him again later. In fact, it's been hinted throughout the series that Abberline will eventually replace him, with the assumption that Lord Randall would retire from his post at the Yard. In fact, it's more like our earl asks if that is true, then he's turning it into a suggestion.
Tumblr media
Randall says he only brought Abberline along for this occasion because he saw the watchdog at the scene of the crime (hanging the nabobs upside down), but I think there's more to it than that, since he could have told Abberline to not get any further involved with the watchdog. Abberline must have been tapped for moving up within the ranks, even if it's only because he's now been exposed to this secret agency. Randall didn't have to bring him along, regardless of what Abberline heard and saw, but he decides to.
So, the next time we see anyone from the Yard, Abberline might be in charge. We did see Randall hold Mr. Pitt at gun point and demand to know where our earl and Sebastian went, but we don't actually know how that confrontation ends. And we know that Abberline is also working this case... possibly taking a page out of the watchdog's book in how he approaches it... because not long ago he was telling the earl he would do his best to keep the earl from having to get his own hands dirty again. If Randall isn't somehow removed from this case, it's likely to be his last, anyway.
All this said, I think Randall is loyal to the crown... but doesn't really appreciate the way Queen Victoria conducts private business, especially the way she drags the Yard into it. Let's see, it is ch23 where we get foreshadowing that Agni's probably going to die (at least I see it that way), but it's also where we find out that the Yard pays the watchdog some small amount for services rendered in the investigation and capture of criminals. Even if the investigation never leads to an arrest. Agni tries to turn himself in for hanging the nabobs upside down, but our earl and Sebastian stop him. Since Madam Red dies and Grelle is a reaper, there's no arrest in the Jack the Ripper case, either. In both situations, the Yard has to be satisfied that the crimes have stopped. Perhaps Randall believes our earl just has all the perpetrators killed.
Tumblr media
He seems to despise the watchdog's existence.
Tumblr media
Not only does every generation of watchdog use underhanded tactics, but our earl likes to rub it in that he's getting the Yard's work done for them... and receiving a small sum for it each time. Randall does, however, seem to recognize the necessary evil of having a post like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also learn from ch23 that he has little appreciation for the arts and that he's not fond of morbid, "gloomy" topics, like suicide and martyrdom. Whereas Abberline clearly spends his free time in the art museums; he doesn't say so explicitly, but if his reaction to our earl's art collection is any indication, he's a true lover of the arts. And knowledgeable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd still love for Abberline to eventually use his knowledge of the arts to crack open a case. Maybe solve a case about fraudulently signed reproductions or complete forgeries being sold off. Imagine if something like that finally got Druitt put away for a while?? 😆
Anyway, Randall seems unsure about Abberline, but he knows he's got to get Abberline used to the truth about the Yard's relationship with the queen's watchdog. Because despite whatever he says, he does seem to be preparing for the day he will no longer be with the Yard.
