Unintentionally funny moment: How in the Phantomhive Manor Murders arc, Sebastian tells Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that yes, Ciel is the Earl and head of the family, but he's still just a 13-year-old.

Because, yes. It's absolutely true. But given all Ciel does, it comes across as something that one parent says to justify or dismiss anything their kid does.

With crime rates lower than anticipated this summer, and Randall gone to visit relatives for a few weeks, an unprecedentedly relaxed atmosphere pervades the Yard. kuroshitsuji's chapters have been padding for time for a longtime now, but im just as afraid the manga will rush it's conclusion towards the end (ive seen it before) and not spend anytime on characters we do like. So which characters do yall want to have a major character moment before the story ends?*

*Im not counting major characters like Lizzy, Soma, the Queen, etc, who i'm certain will get focus eventually. this is more for characters whose importance in the the plot is a little shaky atm and could change at a moment's notice (aka Yana's whims)

I had this question in my mind for a while, but do phantomhives get paid for doing the queen's dirty work? Like how does it work? It's their job after all

Hey Anon! Yep, they get paid through Scotland Yard, as explained in the manga (ch23):

In fact, it's "tradition" for Scotland Yard's Commissionner to bring a financial "recompense" to the Queen's Watchdog while eating dinner together on such occasions (you have the details above).

Additionally, I always thought that Randall's obvious distaste in such traditions actually betrays that he's been around in Scotland Yard and given his fair share of "bribes" to the Phantomhives, probably since Claudia's time as the Watchdog or so (back when she was the Watchdog he was probably the next Commissioner to be). It's also probably why he knows stuff about them, like Vincent owning a photo studio.

I really hate Lord Randall because, being Scotland Yard, he likely knows at least some of the circumstances around O!Ciel's kidnapping. Yet he shows absolutely no empathy.

Yeah, they weren't as aware of psychological trauma back then. But they knew enough to know that if a kid lost his whole family and was kidnapped, he wouldn't be right as rain after a bit.

Like, I don't expect him to see Ciel as some poor helpless child who cannot be blamed for anything he does wrong. But surely some empathy...even a little...isn't too much to expect.
