Another bone to pick with Eremika.....

You know when you really think about it, Eremika fans may be some of the most selfish people in the Attack on Titan fandom.

Oh I still hold Gabi Braun's fans to be the absolute worst, who seem to legitimately think it's wrong to hate on her in any capacity.......But the fans who even now are still so desperately needy for Mikasa and Eren to have their "happy" ending really never stop to understand how much such an ending simply would NOT have been earned.

As I've said in the past, Eremika is unquestionably abusive on Eren's side. Mikasa was nothing but loyal to him, to a very unhealthy degree in fact, and he never treated her with any affection reflective of either the love of a partner or of the adoptive stepbrother he was supposed to have been. Even if Eren was putting on a show with that "I've always hated you" speech, it's baffling why anyone would want them to still be together after such a cruel renouncement of their bond.

But what's REALLY selfish? Think of all the other characters who deserved a happy ending but DIDN'T get theirs:

Sasha Braus, anyone? Marco Bott?

Hange and Levi? Hell, Levi and Petra?

Seriously folks, how can ANYONE think Levi's was a fitting end for someone who had lost everyone he held close, and was left broken and alone with no clear path forward? It's a pitiful sight seeing what humanity's strongest soldier was reduced to.

Jean? What's his story? Connie, what's his story? Armin?

Historia and Ymir? Ymir lost her shot at a new life, and let's be real, Historia didn't marry that farmer asshole out of genuine love, if he is in fact her husband.

Marlowe and Hitch? Miche Zacharius? Hannah and Franz? Nile and his daughters? Keith Shadis? DAMN NEAR EVERYONE?

The list goes ON and ON.

So many characters who deserved a happy ending. And the fandom mourns for the mass murderer who didn't get laid with the girl he continually pushed away and forced into an impossible situation?

Eren died a virgin. You think I'm fucking mourning?

Come to think of it with that in mind, Gabi fans are really selfish since they actively rubbed it in our faces that she lived, having been literally carried through the story by egregious plot armor. But I digress.

Eremika fans got their priorities backwards. Not just for trying to preserve an intensely toxic unbalanced attraction, but because apparently that's a greater loss than all who died unnecessarily because of Eren's vast manipulations.

I know this is not an attitude that applies to all Eremika fans. But to the ones who are still mourning over this......

Eren Yeager can go get fucked right up the ass straight into ETERNAL DAMNATION like the cunt he is. I ain't mourning for that hobo haired bitch, people, why are you?

TROST DISTRICT ARC PART 2

All majority of 104th Cadets have slowly gathered up to the rooftops. Retreating back to HQ is gonna be a helluva difficult with Titans swarming the surface streets and a note from Connie that they're very low on gas... well shit.

Everyone's defeated, exhausted or just scared out of their mind, Daz has the latter, tended by Samuel who's getting leg recovery albeit slowly. Hannah and Franz are cuddling to ease off their worries, Sasha's and Hitch's efforts of motivation are tested by stressed out Marlowe walking back and fourth. Ilse writing her notes... nervously and beside her is Louise, leaning back on a tower relaxed.

On the other-side of the rooftops, Boris is scanning the streets below, looking after any Titans. Sandra and Gordon are looking to the horizon of Trost, wondering where Floch is, and last but not least are Warrior Squad + Krista and Ymir, discussing what to do next. Only Armin, Jean, Marco, Mina, Thomas, Floch and Mikasa are missing- Oh! They've arrived simultaneously.

Remaining members of Squad Eren (Jean, Marco, Mina, Thomas) approaching shell shocked Armin, tended by Floch. They asked where Eren is, why is he not with Armin? The Latter uttered his response...

"Eren Yeager... is dead."

Armin breaks down with saying sorry infront of everyone. Mina reacts hardest as she covers her mouth with her hands and almost shedding tears. Jean while reacts the least is rather distraught. Loathing at himself while Marco reassuring him it's not his fault.

But Mikasa just shrugs it off, saying moping right now would be useless, they need to get going... but Armin + Thomas notices her eyes are dull and lifeless.

Mikasa facing the whole scattered crowd while explaining her plan, get to the HQ fast as possible, then resupply and have a good chance fighting against titans in the streets. Daz protested with hint of mockery but Mikasa shuts him off. Stating that she's strong, stronger than all of em combined.

And if they kept staying here? They might aswell be called legion of cowards... this sets everyone off, mainly spite. And so they go forward. With Jean leading the first pack with Marco, Connie and Sasha.

Second pack lead by is Floch with Sandra, Gordon, Franz and Hannah. This pack is more coordinated with Sandra and Gordon occupying right and left flank. Franz... carries Hannah bridal style despite her protests.

Lastly, the third pack is led by Marlowe... the leader however has forgotten self-preservation as he spends way too much gas. Followed by Hitch, Boris and Ilse, writing her last note before putting it in her pocket.

Rest of cadets are led by Warrior Squad. With Armin, Krista, Ymir, Mina, Thomas, Daz (Carrying Samuel piggyback-style) and Louise following them behind.

Part ends with Mikasa's short-lived despair, with Jean trying to call out to her but gets snatched by Marlowe. And then... the Attack Titan reveal.

The Clowns / I Clowns (1970)

Synopsis: Fellini delves into the world of European clowning, traveling with his crew to various capitals of clown culture. From a dramatization of his own challenging childhood experience with clowns to a barrage of performances by current clowns (in a variety of unique venues) and recreations of historical circus-based acts, Fellini creates a dizzying comedic portrait of an artform struggling to survive. Gribouille redevient Boireau (1912)

Synopsis: In this meta short, French-born comedian André Deed dramatizes (or slapstick-izes) his move from Italy, where he made films as Cretinetti (Gribouille in France) for Itala, to France, where he would continue making shorts under the name Boireau. Cretinetti/Gribouille survives an altercation with the father of his sweetheart Valentina (Valentina Frascaroli), a run in with border patrol, an attempted kidnapping, a train hijacking and subsequent derailing, and being forced at gunpoint to make films for France. Now Boireau, he is rushed onto set where a bit more chaos ensues before he addresses the camera directly and assures us in pantomime that he will keep making films and that his heart is here in France.

Torture Garden (1967)

Synopsis: At an amusement park sideshow, a fiendish host, Dr. Diabolo (Burgess Meredith), selects a few of his guests to get a preview of their potential downfalls from Atropos, the Goddess of Destiny. The first customer (Michael Bryant) is warned away from victimizing his uncle and cutting an unholy deal with a demon cat. The second (Beverly Adams) has to look out for the consequences of too ruthlessly pursuing fame in Hollywood. Her cousin (Barbara Ewing) has to look out for a boy and his piano possessed by his dead mother. The final customer (Jack Palance) is an avid Poe fanboy who is at risk of taking his obsession too far. Dr. Diabolo is not a simple carny though, so these glimpses into their respective futures may give them an opportunity to change their fates.

Synopsis: Alessandra & Flavia, a lesbian couple living in Rome, decide that they want to have a baby. The process of finding a suitable baby daddy is a series of misadventures but eventually Flavia becomes pregnant. Their relationship is tested but they build a happy home until the potential dads figure out what’s going on. The men want to turn their relationship into big news and an ad campaign; their private lives become public spectacle. Thankfully, Alessandra hatches a scheme to solve all their problems.

The Marriage Circle (1924)

Synopsis: The marriage of Mizzi and Dr. Josef Stock (Marie Prevost & Adolphe Menjou) is on the rocks. Josef hires a detective to gather enough evidence to secure a divorce. Meanwhile, Mizzi attempts a flirtation with Dr. Franz Braun (Monte Blue), who she soon finds out is the husband of an old friend, Charlotte (Florence Vidor). To complicate matters, Dr. Gustav Mueller (Creighton Hale), who is Franz’s business partner, is in love with Charlotte. A variety of schemes and misunderstandings ensue before the Stocks’ marriage dissolves and the Brauns’ marriage is saved.

It does not take long before Larry figures out that the scenario for success that he dreamed up may be a nightmare.

Cane River (1982)

Synopsis: Peter (Richard Romain) returns to his small hometown in Louisiana after trying to make something of himself in the big, wide world. When touring a local plantation, tied to his ancestry, he meets Maria (Tommye Myrick) and they begin a romance. However, Maria has saved up for years to leave Natchitoches and go to college and she plans on leaving soon to start school. Various complications arise in their relationship as their different backgrounds and ambitions come into stark contrast.

This month, I watched a silly amount of silent comedy shorts because I’m reading Steve Massa’s Slapstick Divas and wanted to sort of watch along. I put together a little list of some of the highlights in case you all are also interested in the women of early silent comedy: “‘Film Comedy’s Eves’ Watchalong”

Gerne doch ... ! Mit modernsten Methoden. Eine Atemlähmung als Drohung bei der Vereidigung von Kollegen Köln am Screen? Solche. Und solche. Überall. Dazu weitere Szenen hier. Der ehemalige Finanzminister Grasser in Österreich jetzt auch in Haft ... ? In wieviele Handschellen ... ?! Am großen Arbeits-Screen eine erste ... ! 

Die Videos der Lern-Pause kommen nach eingeordnet in komplexe historische und zeithistorische Strukturen in die Lernumgebung Löwenthal. Ermittelnde Einheiten Polizei und Militär. Einheiten Terrorismus-Bekämpfung begleitend? Nein? Noch einer? Pro Gefährder-Ansprache wieviele Semester sollen es denn sein? Und andeutungsweise im (Lehr-) Video Grasser beispielsweise die Farb-Symbolik dargestellt. Der Herr Faber, Elite-Faber mit Gattin und Ausschnitt bis auf den Bauchnabel? Gut gefüllt. Welches Kostüm mit Andeutungen aus den 20ern? Eine Mischung aus dreckeliger Zigeunerin und Aristokratin? Grün. Braun. Schwarz. Verwechseln Sie da nicht etwas ... ? Und für wen flöten Sie? Freunde? In der Video-Sequenz direkt danach die Hochzeits-Szene Grasser. Kleid, weiß, rein, Mini. Und Ausschnitt. Die Kollegin hat aber genau wie die Recognizer wohl auch auf Silikon verzichtet, kann also nix rausfallen. Na ja .. Andeutungsweise. Dann doch .. Verdammt ... !

This week's composer: Franz Schubert (1797-1828)

Well. I was going to do Carl Nielsen this week, but Wednesday was a bad mental health day and I ended up just listening to the chronological Schubert playlist as part of an attempt to distract myself. Then on Thursday, I found out my sister died Wednesday night. So this is less a usual CotW thing and more me just listening to Schubert because I like him and need the distraction and also I didn't want to throw my week numbers off by completely skipping a week

I'm not sure how much I will write about it and I am not going to try to keep up my usual pace and spend hours listening every day. But I would like to keep track of what I listen to and any particularly enjoyable and/or interesting pieces

Will probably spend a good bit of it working on the chronological playlist, where I'm on D. 264

Anyway

Day 1

Kind of into this second, more angsty setting of "Der Jüngling am Bache"! Which might actually be my favorite Schubert piece (the first setting). I get it stuck in my head A LOT and am currently trying to memorize it because only being able to sing like four lines of it was annoying

Also I am determined to like "An den Mond" because 1) songs about the moon are cool and 2) I just learned how to say "the moon" in German

Der vierjahrige Posten was fun, especially the prelude and the second-to-last song

Relistened to Symphony No. 3 and enjoyed it a lot more the second time around

I listened to and probably posted this during the last Schubert week but holy shit it's so good

Working on the chronological playlist tonight, so lots of songs!

I was looking forward to "Trinklied im Winter" and am delighted to find that he went with a trio for it vs. a soloist

What is up with the last stanza though

I should probably try to actually finish listening to Winterreise this week. I made it like halfway through before but I am more into his vocal music now. I would also like to keep working on the chronological playlist and listen to more of his instrumental music since the playlist/his catalogue is mostly songs. Maybe relisten to more of the symphonies. I don't know. We'll see!

Day 4

Working on the chronological playlist again. Listening to Piano Sonata No. 2 now. Apparently it's regarded as incomplete because it has only three movements but D. 346 or D. 309A might be the missing movement

I am looking forward to Mass No. 3 but mostly I am ready for some more complex instrumental music. The piano accompaniment for his lieder is very simple and I've heard that thing where it slows down and moves into slighter lower notes at the end like 300 times. Which is not an exaggeration but a completely reasonable estimate

It's actually getting a bit grating, so I think I'm going to take a break from the playlist. Listened to String Quartets Nos. 1-2 and now relistening to Symphony No. 8 and probably No. 9 after that

Day 5

Listened to Symphony No. 3 yet again while driving home today and thoroughly enjoyed it

Worked on the chronological catalogue some more. "Erlkönig" is so good

Might relisten to some more symphonies tomorrow as I feel like I am slowly or maybe not so slowly being driven insane by lieder and could use a break from the playlist

Day 6

Finding lieder less maddening today, so back to the playlist. Nice and gloomy!

Got a full minute into D. 374 before I realized it was actually instrumental vs. a song with an unusually long intro

Day 7

Relistened to some symphonies (6 and 7) and now relistening to some favorites from the first Schubert week

I am going to need a break from him after this. And maybe I should give up on the chronological playlist. I really don't want to ruin his music for myself and it feels like that's where I'm headed if I continue with it

Anyway listening to every last recorded piece of music by your favorite composer is cool and obsessive and all, but it's really not necessary, and it is okay to prefer their instrumental music!

I am not 100% done with his lieder but maybe I could listen to compilations when I'm in the mood for it instead of ALL OF IT
