Like there's GOTTA be some sort of mythology of how the caverns were made, right? I. Admittedly I think about this a lot.

And may or may not have taken the concept if the 'omni-slug' to make my own version of it for this exact reason.

Gonna be totally honest here. I tried to read caged lungs. Emphasis on TRIED. I got to, like, the part where Raph asks Donnie to undo the changes to his weights and I couldn't read past that. IT'S SO WELL WRITEN, IT'S SO WELL WRITEN THAT I CANNOT PHYSICALLY READ IT. IT'S SO PAINFUL UGH, YOU'RE A MASTER OF YOUR CRAFT.

And that's why I've been just. reading your answers to asks because it spoils the fic to me. BECAUSE I'M SO CURIOUS BUT I CANNOT READ IT FOR THE LIFE OF ME. I'm just, like, hopping onto the comfort like a coward :D

Normally I can read angst just fine, BUT GOLLY THIS KICKED MY HEART AND I'LL ONLY RECOVER IF I JUST READ YOUR ASKS INSTEAD KSHDKHD. oh my god yeah if that's too much for you, i really do not recommend trying to brute force your way through it because it culminates in a really upsetting murder attempt (like. it is essentially a foxhunt. leo pins him down and stabs him while he screams for his dad. he begs raph not to kill him. they talk to him like they would any villain in the show, with this callous disregard for the fact that he is starving and sobbing and begging for his life.) and on a more emotional verbal/psychological abuse levels there's things like the FAMILY MEETING which is genuinely just...... horrific lmfao, it gets Nasty (although personally i find the weight rack scene more upsetting because its so much more grounded to reality, i can FEEL the shame oooh man)

i am a little sad that there are people who read CW and not CL because i think CL is my favorite thing that i've ever written so far, but i completely understand if its difficult to stomach. you can probably pick everything up through context clues (especially if you've also read ME) if you think CL is too much for you!! id write a summary to help, but lol CL is just a collection of scenes and there are some things that are better not clarified/revealed later down the line. reading asks here might help though, yeah!!

I have a plot in mind about Cait x vi, but not sure how to execute it. It's more like a scene, hear me out.

You surely have heard of fox hunt without real foxes? Where one rider has a foxtail on their belt or helmet, rides first and after a while the hunters follow.

Now imagine this. The Kiramman family owns a hunting lodge in the woods and there is some kind of social gathering. Cait has prepared Vi to "fit in" (table manners, social etiquette and whatnot. Mind you, Vi isn't happy about this but she follows shit because she doesn't want to disappoint Cait) but during the gathering some piltie snobs decide to screw with Vi and invite her to the foxhunt. The catch is, Vi has never ridden before and is the chosen fox, so she has to track through the woods and lay a trail of, let's say paint or colorful powder.

Vi decides to screw with them in return and Parcours her way through, leaving handprints on trees or areas you can't spot while she has horse riders breathing down her neck. Cait decides to be the one to find her first and after finding her, there will be a confrontation; even when Vi tried to fit in she was the target of the gathering and she gives Caitlyn a piece of mind...

So... Yeah. Is that fic worthy? Or... Nah.

34. Which is still insane to me, I thought I'd get Foxhunt out there and that would be it. I've never been active in a fandom before XD

212,394 words as of right now.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I've written here and there a little in the past, but actively, I only write for tcw. And...well. If you count one fic, My Time at Sandrock.

Gosh. A lot of them have kind of the same kind of ending? I think, technically, Fox Stole a WHAT??? Is overtly happiest though.

I have gotten one truly critical comment, it made me laugh a lot, but nothing nasty.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes, I do write smut. What kind....uhhhh...mostly slightly kinky?

Only in the sense of that I take a lot of different things from different Star Wars piles and mushed them together. But never something with truly non-interactive fandoms.

Nope, and I probably won't because that would make me put way too much pressure on myself.

I don't necessarily have a single OTP, I tend to have a favorite character and ship this poor thing with lots of different people. My all time favorite character is Fox, and he's like a little black dress for me - goes with any(one/thing). But I'm particularly fond of Quinlan/Fox, Bacara/Fox and various smaller ones.

15. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oh man. Probably who Wants To Live Forever.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh...I dunno, really. I guess....maybe....dialogue?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I often feel like I use too few words. Like I shortchange scenes? I also struggle with endings things a lot of the time. As in, finding a fitting end.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'm a big fan of putting in like, tidbits - especially pet names, or things I feel are particularly important to the person talking, but I don't think I'd ever do a full dialogue like this.

MEET THE BARISTA: Jen

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

I would honestly rate my writing a solid 3½. I know that I have lots of room for improvement and growth– I've even seen growth from fic to fic or chapter to chapter and it makes me really proud to see how far I've come. 

2. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

Personally, I think that my setting/world-building and “set direction” helps me stand out. In college I did screenwriting for a bit and that's how I kinda do my rough drafts, writing them in present tense and making sure I’m showing and not just telling. Also making sure my OCs or characters have special awareness of things and people around them. 

3. Are there any writers that inspire you?

SO MANY TO EVEN NAME GOOD LORD. When I was initially invited into discord servers, I was fangirling in my apartment with my cat over basically being in the same room as some of (what I consider to be) the best and biggest writers of the fandom that I had been reading for months prior. There are so many mutuals and people who inspire me, too many to name specifically, but I will say that Hope (aka pilotisms/whirlybirbs) is the one whose works really gave me the courage and motivation to start writing in the fandom for the first time. IWe’ve never talked, but I hope she knows I think about Vacant Mirrors religiously to this day.

4. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

It’s so hard picking between your children! I think it’s a close tie with FOXHUNT and FILTHY, IMPETUOUS SOULS but the latter probably takes the top spot atm. It’s been so well received, even more so than I could’ve ever imagined. I almost scrapped the entire thing and I’m so glad I decided against it.

5. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write and which do you find most difficult to write?

Bucky and Steve both come easiest to me. Finding a good flow for either of them depends on my mood and muse, but I gravitate towards one or the other 99% of the time. I'm terms of difficulties, trying to write OFCs or minor/background OCs is harder for me since they don’t have a “format” like pre-established characters do. 

6. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?

Bucky. Bucky has always been my muse since Day 1 and most of my little notes or WIPs involve him in some way. Also writing settings in college or around college is a pattern I’ve noticed that, although I will never give up, I have been trying to do different time periods and not involve school since I’ve been out of it for a good two years at this point.

7. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about!

I've had this specific WIP idea/concept going on 2-3 years now and it's coming together… albeit incredibly fucking slowly. It takes place within the 6-9 months between Endgame and TFATWS and involves a lot of angst, healing, and melancholy. I've been including details from the Falcon and Winter Soldier comics along with Bucky’s healing journey through grief and PTSD, amongst other things. It's been in the works for too long, so who knows if it'll see the light of day? 

8. First fandom you ever wrote for?

One Direction. I was 11 and had unrestricted Internet access. I was unstoppable. (If anyone was on Miss Literati you’re a real one.)

9. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

Omegaverse, hands down. Also poly fics (stucky x reader, my beloved.) 

10. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.

I cannot for the love of God do pregnancies, time travel, or fantasy. Just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

11. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?

Probably the first time I wrote smut, which was my Ranch Hand!Bucky fic, Impressions on the Inside of Your Thigh. I wouldn’t necessarily call it wild, but to me it was/is!

12. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)

Honestly? Stucky. There's something about the endless possibilities of their dynamic that makes lil ol bisexual me’s heart swell with happiness. The best thing is, they’re so versatile; you can have them be platonic or romantic and still bring out their unconditional love for one another. 

13. Do you listen to anything while you write?

If I really need to get into the mood of the specific story, then yes. Otherwise, I'll either have a Twitch VOD on for background noise or just put noise-canceling headphones on and zone in on the quiet.

One shots! 

15. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!        

Literally every time I work on one. I’ve thought about one for Chains Around My Feet where it’s like a prologue leading up to the events in Chains, but it felt more appropriate to leave it as a one shot. FILTH, IMPETUOUS SOULS also gets a daydream sometimes about how their dynamic might be back at home base, the aftermath of the fic’s events, that sort of thing. 

16. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

Omegaverse. I’m slowly working up the courage, but I just don’t feel like I’m ready yet. There’s also another WIP that I had started for Whumptober 2023, but it was just too intense that I scared myself out of finishing it and posting it. HTP is definitely not for the weak of heart and mind.

17. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

There are legit so so many lovely ones, but I think one that stands out at the moment was when I wrote the weight and someone said something among the lines of “I don’t really read Stucky a lot but this just convinced me to read more” and that felt like such an accomplishment to me.

18. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

Chains Around My Feet was my first Whumptober work and was definitely something I had never done before. I actually was pretty impressed with myself on how well (in my own opinion) I was able to write horror/whump with a Dead Dove ending. Pretty proud of it still. 

19. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?

Merciless Angst!

20. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

Not that I can really think of. If an OC counts as an x reader? Then the Reader I came up with for my years-long WIP. 

21. If you could enter the universe of any one of your fics, which would it be and why?

Honeysuckle, hands down. Living and working in Avengers Tower, adventuring in NYC, enjoying the sunsets, all while doing it with the Bucky Barnes? Yes. Fucking. Please.

22. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

When I write, the scenes play out in my head like a literal movie. I see it as scripting everything out and then running through and editing scenes, and then when everything is done, it plays out like a fully fleshed out film. It’s both a blessing yet a curse, but it’s so integral to my process.

23. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.

24. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I wish I could stop time and just sit down for a week and get my WIPs started and edited and DONE. I’m entering my busy travel season for work and don’t have nearly as much time and energy as I did like a month or two ago. I miss it. I miss my muse, I miss being able to sit down and spend time fleshing out all these ideas in my head. The other side of it is lack of engagement (mutuals you’re okay i promise) and lack of feedback. Like yeah, kudos and likes are okay, but whenever I get a reblog– one that isn’t from a minor or bot account– I get so happy. When I get a comment, it’s like striking gold. I just wish that the passive consumption and aggressive demand for our work would die down and readers would take the time to even share our stuff. It’s disheartening to see your favorite authors cease writing because what’s the point anymore, ya know? Anyways, SUPPORT YOUR WRITERS!

editing master of hounds (part 2 of my fic about dominus) - i’m very excited to get it out :’]

i love the pet reveal, just everything about it, and it’s been fun to write about and really get into just how messed up it is. i find myself feeling self-conscious sometimes as i write it, as i really don’t like adding in things in fics that aren’t 100% canoncompliant (especially angst things as i fear looking cheap...) but given the circumstances i think some miserable dark grittiness fits - which is how i make myself feel better about how relentlessly edgy this fic has been. if you read part 1, you know how dark it is, and now you know that i haven’t stopped twisting the knife, if that’s your thing. whoo!

i’ve decided though, rather than “part 2 out of 2, of a wider fic”, to make it its own sequel fic - because i’m very proud of landrace (part 1, to be renamed foxhunt) and don’t wanna potentially sully it as a one-shot by adding another chapter to it - and master of hounds Can be read completely independently of its prequel fic, so! yeah. technicalities xP

Do you have any Zero headcanons? I’m curious ^^

huge disclaimer that my one-track mind means a lot of my headcanons exist in a zeroskull context, but i evidently have enough that i had to hide this under another read more lol

zero is canonically Extremely sentimental, and i think this would manifest in him ending up with a lot of clutter at home - lots of mementos from his past as well as an ungodly amount of ornate teacups all over the place

i imagine he is quite frivolous with money, especially when it comes to gifts

this is a weirdly specific one i came up with for a fic i never finished but i like to envision him having had a nice cosy study in his flat with a record always playing, skull face coming over for visits and classical music is always playing hehe. when they moved to america he got skull face a fancy record player and passed on his collection to him (although being an englishman with very english tastes skull face was probably not particularly impressed with most of them)

speaking of english people, zero probably participated in foxhunting

adjusting to life in america was very difficult at first, one of the only times he'd ever felt really out of place. he still adhered to a lot of british mannerisms but i can imagine it taking a long time to adjust to speaking in a way that americans could understand, lots of vacant looks whenever he said something excruciatingly british. i'm also sure he died still not used to the differences in cuisine

he isn't consciously the bastard that he actually is, he doesn't try to actively be malicious, he just has this built-in entitlement to other people and subtle need to control them. for all the fluff i draw/write his relationship with skull face is really Not built on particularly healthy foundations (both with and without my ship goggles) which is why it all falls apart in the most violent possible way lol

obviously this all manifests in his obsessive controlling behaviour of big boss in a desperate attempt to grasp whatever the boss left behind, and it's here his attention shifts away from skull face (complacently assuming he's loyal and controllable enough to leave to his own devices) and towards keeping BB with him at all costs. he also starts putting all his trust into ocelot and starts trusting him with all his secrets because who needs an XO when you have the boss' son i guess

when the sons of big boss were born he was absolutely terrible at handling them, someone please teach this man how to look after a baby

this only technically counts as a zero headcanon but i like to believe that the patriot AIs still kept a lot of his personality in them. the occasional quirk where they'd bring up an old colleague or start talking about types of tea. in mgs3 sigint makes an offhanded mention of zero thinking he'd been abducted by aliens, and when the AI colonel in mgs2 starts going haywire he describes the very same thing happening to him...

i feel like i definitely have way more but i spent like an hour trying to remember all of these so this will have to do for now
