Hello Quil, I was scrolling through your blog today and I saw you had reblogged a post you had made about trying to resist checking out library books (which is very relatable, by the way) and added two pictures of cut up books. (For reference this was in mid-October). So now I actually have two questions for you: 1) What were you making with those books? My guess from the round thing in the corner of the photo was that you were making paper pumpkins, and if so that is very lovely. 2) Do you know what books you were using? I thought I recognized a page as being from the Artemis Fowl books but I wasn’t sure. Anyway, good luck with the last few days of Nano! We’re almost there! - Amethyst

Amethyst! Hola!! I recall the post--and yes, we were making paper pumpkins out of old books the library had. I don't remember exactly the situation, but it was one of those where the books would've gone to waste otherwise. They do a lot of crafts with old books--though I haven't gone in a while, because I'm not interested in thanksgiving/christmas crafts

And I do know the book! (I made 2 pumpkins out of one book). It was Choppy Waters by Stuart Woods. i know nothing else about it except its name, but here are the results!

Jack the Ripper x Golden Dawn Fem Reader

Summary: catching the eye of the Captain of the Green Mantis

Warning: there isn’t really any warnings for this. Fluff.

Notes: I couldn’t help myself he’s so weird I had to. Reader and Jack go to the same market so she sees him a lot.

His grin was creepy but it was alluring as you watched him laugh across the market. You had to know him. More than just his battle stories and his name.

You could tell he wasn’t one to just go for looks, he doesn’t seem to be one who likes the forward advances of women. he’d never pay those women any mind when you saw them after him in the streets, pressing themselves against him and just wanting him because he was a captain. He always looked kind of disgusted, actually.

So when the golden dawn and the green mantis are called to help at the same time and he happens to show up, you make sure you’re fighting near him.

Giving it everything you have and then some, using your magic to beat back rouge mages with a vengeance and when his laugh found your ears you felt a grin spread across your lips, heart hammering wildly when he fought closer to you, falling into a rhythm of automatically using each other to different advantages. At the end of the fight he dropped to the cobblestone street beside you and grinned

“That was invigorating” he says, hands on his hips as he pants hard. You take a step closer to him, mirroring his stance and grinning up at him “you’re brilliant” you say and he chuckles with a shrug “you’re not so bad yourself sweetheart” he says and leans closer to you.

“Y/n! We should be going” Klaus says and pushes up his glasses. You chuckle, eyes still on Jack as you wave your hand to signal you heard him.

“I’ll see you around sweetheart” he says and you wink and start to walk backwards saying “I surely hope so” before you’re hopping up beside Klaus on his chariot and waving over your shoulder to Jack.

You were in town when you saw him again and luckily he hadn’t seen you yet, you fixed your short black fowy skirt so it showed more of your thigh tattoo and made sure your white blouse looks right before you walk across the market on the opposite side of him, stopping to get a few apples and feeling his Ki shift when he sees you.

You hear his signature chuckle float over to you as he moved through the crowd of the farmers market, stopping beside the flower stall to get a small bouquet of yellow and purple flowers before his fingers lightly grab the loose elbow of your blouse to get your attention

“Hello again” he says with a grin and you smile up at him, the wind rustling your hair and skirt, drawing his eyes to the thigh piece. You smirk when his smile widens and looks back into your eyes.

“Hello Jack” you say and lean into him a a little. He chuckles and holds up the flowers “for you” he says and you grin, placing your hand over his and bringing them to your nose to smell as you look up at him through your lashes “now why would you want to do something so sweet for me, Jack?” You take the flowers from his hand and he lets out a breathy laugh, captivated by how much he enjoys your banter

“I wanted you to have them” he says simply and you smile, placing your hand on his chest you press up on your toes and kiss his cheek, leaning into his ear making sure the light scent of your perfume reaches him as you whisper “thank you” you smile and turn from him, walking away down the market for a few feet before looking back for him.

He grins and takes the steps to catch up to you, falling into step beside you as you finished your errands, chatting easily together and teasing each other. by the end of your errands your bags are in his arms as he walks you to your apartment.

You stand one step above him, reaching to take the bags. He chuckles with a mischievous glint in his eyes as he steps up and presses his lips to yours as he transfers the bags to your hands “see you around, sweetheart” he says with a smirk and then walks down the road, waving behind him with a laugh.

The next time you see him he’s at the star festival, cooking food beside the Captain of the black bulls in some kind of rival competition.

You make eye contact across the crowd and you grin. he stops yelling at his team to stand a bit straighter and smirk at you.

You walk over to his stand, bypassing the three children and leaning over the counter to run your fingers gently through his bangs “are you on the menu tonight?” You ask and he does his usual chuckle “I certainly can be.. for you” he says and leans in closer, into your touch

“Keep flirting like that Jack and you’ll lose for sure!” Yami says and you glare over at him, silencing him with your intense angry gaze and making Jack chuckle again at your reaction. “When you win, I’ll be waiting” you say, hand moving from his hair to run your thumb across his bottom lip, sighing softly before you lay money on the counter and grab a plate from one of the boys, walking off back into the crowd

“I know this is weird but Captain Jack from the Green Mantis wanted me to get you” a boy in a black bulls robe says and you raise your eyebrows for a moment before nodding. “Ok. Let’s go” you say and step through the spacial portal.

“Oh. Wow” you say with a smile, folding your arms as you watch them fight. You grin when Jack makes eye contact. But cackle when they fall to the ground pantsless.

When you get back to the festival you stick your tongue out at him from across the group as you eat some squid and he keh keh’s with a shake of his head.

Before things can get out of hand again you’re gently lacing your fingers with his and pulling him around the back of the stand “if you wanted me alone sweetheart you just had to say so” he says with a laugh and you take a gentle hold on his chin and guide him down to be face to face with you

“I’m trying to decide if I should still give you prize for winning even though you didn’t exactly win” you say and he smirks “if I have a say in it, I say yes you should. Because I technically didn’t lose either”

“You’re an amazing fighter. Powerful. Funny. I really like you” you say, serious without any joking or teasing, searching his eyes for any indication that he doesn’t feel the same.

He smirks and reaches out to pull you close “so you’re my prize then?” He asks and you roll your eyes “on second thought.. maybe I’ll just congratulate the black bulls captain for his win” you turn to go but he laughs and pulls you back to his chest. “I’m just joking. I really like you as well” he says “you don’t have to worry about that” he laughs with a flirty smile but his eyes were clear of teasing and full of honesty.

You roll your eyes again but your cheeks are warm and your heart racing “good” you say and he raises his brows with a smile as you continue “then you can have your prize” you smile and press up on your toes, aiming to kiss his cheek but he turns his head and steals a kiss from your lips.

“Best prize I ever got” he says with a grin and you laugh, wrapping your arms around his necks “you’re easy to please then” you say and connect your lips to his once more.

2019 was a messy year for me not gonna lie, and there are many factors, but one big one was the fact that I barely drew anything compared to my years before as an artist. I figured that by working two jobs by then it wasn’t gonna be easy, especially with M now living with me, but over the last couple days I realized that I could had scheduled out things better but instead I was pushing drawing away.  

Ironically though, time that I could’ve spent drawing ended up just being  looking through my old works - we’re talking a decade’s worth of notebooks here. It hurt at times, because I remember how excited it was to draw freely and not think of things around me, especially more so when I was gonna share it with you guys. The worst of it was looking at the 2019 ikari outlines I had planned out and as you guys noticed I never posted anything that day - and it fucking hurts. But at the same time I know life does get in the way, but I miss just being to draw things ya know?  THE KICKER WITH SCHOOL NOW + TWO JOBS LIKE YYYYYYOOOOOOO

So honestly I just needed to let things out, there’s a lot more honestly but for now with drawing it’s my biggest issue with myself. 

Like this comparison here, the original is the bottom and that was done in 2016 where I was starting off in college, and the edited attempt was done in 2019. Like I’m glad my anatomy is getting better and more used to editing with colors, but no progress with lineart nor coloring still - so more focus on that. 

But one thing I want to try is the year of art doodle book I got, I want to finish it this year. They’re day prompts so I hope I just can use it as a way to treat them lightly - random doodles after all ~
