Keep in mind that I’m really behind on the manga, but this has been bothering me. If the Fourth isolated himself until OfA killed him, how did he pass it on?? Am I the only one confused by this? It may have been brought up, but again, I’m behind.

"Pandora's Box" (3).
Chapter 3
--
Yoichi is ill again.
It’s wintertime, so it’s to be expected. Last winter, they’d been living at the base. The nurse on staff easily treated his illnesses as if they were little more than the common cold. Even now, Nisuke swears that the woman had some kind of healing quirk.
Last winter, Nisuke took a couple of days off and took care of his then-boyfriend. He remembers burning the soup that he’d tried to make for Yoichi, and then the man still told him (with a smile on his face) that the concoction (that was hardly a soup anymore) was the best thing he’d ever eaten. Then they had cuddled, basking in each other’s warmth, and then-
Izuku blows a raspberry, sending spit everywhere. He sighs, patiently wiping the baby up.
But this winter they have a baby to account for.
Not to mention less support, as taking Yoichi to the nurse at the base is out of the question and taking him to the hospital could very well result in him dying (and not from his illness).
So, they decided it was for the best to let Yoichi rest up in their bedroom. He took a couple of days off, and he’s been carefully monitoring his husband while wearing a medical mask and gloves. They still aren’t positive if Izuku has his father’s lackluster immune system or not, but regardless they’re playing it safe as he is still a baby.
Izuku disagrees with this arrangement.
All day he fussed, oscillating between blowing raspberries at his papa and full on screaming. And no matter what Nisuke did: rocking, singing, sitting still, reading, or even feeding him, none of it helped.
The only thing that calmed their son down was when Nisuke held him while standing in the doorway of their bedroom (with a medical mask for both Izuku and him, of course).
Upon seeing that, no, his other parent hasn’t left forever, Izuku relaxed. Not wanting to wake his husband, Nisuke started to leave. But Izuku wasn’t done visiting, and he jerked himself forward. Thankfully, either from years of military experience or the terrifying new experience of being a father, Nisuke’s reflexes are heightened.
He tightens his hold. “You little brat,” he says, tone light. Gently he bounces the baby in his arms. “Don’t do that again.”
Izuku laughs in response. A sure sign he planned to do it again sometime (and succeed).
Yoichi coughs, sitting up. He blinks groggily. “Is everything alright, dear?”
Hearing his dad’s voice, Izuku bounces up and down, eager to get closer. “Someone missed you.”
“Ah, well I miss you too, bunny. But-” Yoichi is interrupted by a coughing fit.
Out of reflex, Nisuke steps further into the bedroom, intending to help.
“No- baby!” Yoichi gets out through his coughing. He motions frantically with one arm (the other arm he’s using as a protective germ shield) to their son who’s looking up at Nisuke with damp eyes.
“Right. I’ll go feed him and put him down for bed, and then I’ll give you some medicine for that cough.”
Back in the hallway, Nisuke murmurs an apology. “Sorry, Izu, but I promise daddy’s okay.”
Izuku sniffles but is worn out from the entire day. He rests his head against Nisuke’s chest, defeated.
He places a gentle kiss on his son’s downy-soft head. “Only a couple of more days, Izu. Daddy’ll get better, I promise.”

“What’s taking so long, Young Midoriya!” All Might shouts, standing on the side of the trail they’ve been using for cardio training. A stopwatch in his hand.
Izuku stops to catch his breath, hands on his knees. “S-sorry, it’s a little hard to breathe.” He coughs into his arm.
A concerned look passes over All Might’s face. “Young Midoriya, if we need to stop for the day-”
“No!” Izuku yells, waving his hands around. Calming down, he repeats, “no. It’s alright. I’m just a little out of practice. I can keep going.”
“If you say so. Don’t overexert yourself, though. We still have another six months left to train.”
“Yes, sir,” Izuku says, straightening up to continue the run.
As Izuku runs back onto the trail, and then eventually out of sight, All Might can’t help but cast a worried glance at his (soon-to-be) successor. Something deep within whispers to him that Young Midoriya isn’t alright.
He ignores it….for now.

Izuku arrives home a quarter after six in the evening. The wonderful smell of his mother’s homemade cooking greets him as he steps inside.
“Hi, mom,” he calls into the house. “I’m home.”
“Oh, honey, that’s great!” His mother comes from the kitchen to hug him tight. “I just finished dinner. After you put your stuff away, can you set the table?”
It’s less a question and more a statement. Izuku’s been setting the table for as long as he can remember, and by now it’s practically tradition.
“Of course, mom.”
Dinner that night is a tempura udon. It’s delicious and heavenly.
He thanks his mom between mouthfuls of food.
“So, how was training today?” She takes a sip of water, looking at Izuku expectantly.
He swallows. “Good. All- my mentor told me I need to slow down.”
Her brow furrows. “Oh?”
“It’s not a big deal. Just….I had a coughing fit.”
“I see,” his mom says, voice uncharacteristically detached.
He shifts in his seat. “Is everything alright?”
“Yes, yes, I just remembered something,” she mutters down at her bowl. Shaking her head slightly, his mom looks back up at him. A bright smile on her face. “So, everything else is going well?”
He nods.
“Good, good.”

That night, nestled under his All Might-themed blanket in his All Might-themed room, Izuku dreams of being trapped in a room with no windows and only one tightly-sealed door out.
He jolts awake in the middle of the night. Izuku sits upright, trying to catch his breath.
The cool metal (and it’s always cool no matter what) of his bracelet makes the nightmare that much real. He thinks of taking it off and tossing it out of reach, but years of his parents (read: absentee father) telling him not to make him think twice.
Laying back down, Izuku holds the wrist with the bracelet close to his racing heart.
At some point, he must fall back asleep because the next thing he knows, his alarm is blaring.

Ten months come and go. They stand on  the newly cleaned and cleared Dagobah Beach.
All Might stands in front of him, a proud smile on his face. “You’ve earned this, Young Midoriya,” he says, clasping a firm hand on his shoulder.
Izuku squirms, a thousand different possibilities of how the quirk is transferred or not transferred runs through his head. A transferable quirk is unheard of, and he isn’t sure-
He hears All Might sigh.
Izuku snaps back to attention. “Sorry.”
“Prince of nonsense,” All Might says, fondly. “Anyways, to transfer my quirk you need to ingest some of my DNA.”
“What-”
A piece of hair is unceremoniously thrust in front of his face. “Eat this!” All Might beams at him, like this isn’t the most disgusting thing Izuku has-
He takes the hair and swallows it without a second thought.
It’s a struggle trying to swallow the hair (and seriously, All Might, why did you have to pull the longest one?) But he manages to do so, and just in time to go home and get ready for the entrance exam.

Every time I cycle back into a BNHA interest it’s almost always because of the ofa holders. I love them so much, their themes, their lives, hell even how damn tragic they are, but so, so hopeful at the same time.
OfA my dearly beloved, they mean everything to me :’)

Hey doctors? Is it really too hard to ask for referrals to be sent out in a timely manner and correct? Or to be sent at all? I never thought it was hard but I’m currently on sixth try of my referral sooo…

none of this is new info, but you know I have the "loves to write lists and compile links" disposition, so I thought it might be helpful to share some of the tips I've seen about how to make sure you're sharing legitimate palestinian evacuation fundraisers and bundle all those tips into a single handy reference post.
this is a spreadsheet of legitimate ("vetted") fundraisers on tumblr.
this post explains how the people who maintain this spreadsheet confirm the legitimacy of each fundraiser they add.
this podcast episode ("yousef and the fourth move") explains why evacuation fundraisers are often organized by people who don't live in gaza and/or who may not be immediate relatives of the people trying to evacuate. it's part three of a series about a man named yousef and his family; parts one and two aren't required listening for part three to make sense, but if you have a few hours to spare then I wholeheartedly recommend listening to all of them.
this is the process that I personally have been using to check whether a particular fundraiser has been vetted:
spreadsheet method
open the vetted fundraisers spreadsheet.
inside this spreadsheet, open the "find..." menu. on a windows computer, this shortcut is ctrl+F. on a mac, this shortcut is cmd+F. on a mobile device, click the three dots menu in the upper right corner of your screen, then select Find and replace.
search for the last name of the person or family in the fundraiser. you may get several results because last names obviously aren't unique; keep hitting "next" until you've looked at all the results.
if you find an entry in the spreadsheet that has the exact same name and whose gofundme link leads to the same fundraiser associated with the blog, it's legitimate. if you don't find an entry in the spreadsheet that matches the blog's fundraiser, that does not mean it's a scam. try the next method below!
tumblr search method
copy the username of the tumblr who originally posted the fundraiser and/or sent you a message asking you to boost the fundraiser. (for example, username123)
paste this username into tumblr's search bar.
for best results, click the All types drop-down menu, then select Text. since the search page is often dominated by asks sent by username123 (which people then answer and tag with their username), this helps narrow things down a bit.
look to see if any people who are not username123 have made posts confirming that username123 is legitimate. this includes people who've reblogged fundraisers and added notes, people who've compiled masterlists, and people sharing hyperlinks to other posts confirming a fundraiser's legitimacy. if the message seems to be "yep, looks legit," then it's safe to assume it's legit.
this is not a comprehensive list, but here are some of the usernames I've seen associated with "yep, looks legit"-type posts and who I've come to trust by association. (disclaimers: I am not mutuals with any of the users, and not all of them do the vetting firsthand, but the ones who don't vet posts themselves still seem to be careful about what they share and therefore are a good lead to follow. also, don't bug these people to vet fundraisers for you unless they've specifically indicated that they're open to that.)

appsa
northgazaupdates
retvolution
communistchilchuck

a-shade-of-blue
shimamitsu
neither of these methods yielded anything definitive; what now?
it may just be too early to tell. unless a trusted source has shared overwhelming evidence that a particular fundraiser is a scam (which seems to be a very very rare occurrence), the best thing you can do is ignore it. don't report their blog as spam, because there's a good chance it's a legitimate fundraiser who just hasn't been vetted yet.
