Y los asesinos que los unen.» La muerte de las cuatro reinas (Astrid Scholte) 🔻 Un libro que hay que leer sin saber demasiado. Creo que es mejor no saber qué te vas a encontrar, aunque lo intuyas por el título, o un poco por mi opinión. Pero es un libro en el que vais a tener una novela de fantasía, mezclada con thriller, en un mundo muy diferente al nuestro que incluso me atrevería a decir que tiene toques de ciencia ficción. Es una historia con un misterio que resolver, o que evitar, no está muy claro. De ese tipo de libros que no te esperas cómo se resuelve todo, que te sorprende para bien, y que, además de todo eso, tiene un romance que, al menos a mí, sí me ha convencido. Os lo recomiendo si os gustan las historias sobre reinos complejos y diferentes, con personajes imperfectos que desean ser libres para amar, hacer o pensar cómo quieren realmente, una ambientación muy bien trabajada y un misterio en el que, sin duda, no te ves venir el final. 🔻 Tenéis la reseña completa en el blog. ¿Os pasáis a leerla? *hides behind book because of the review I’m about to post* - If you watch my stories you probably already know that this book was a bit of a disappointment for me, but here’s my mini-review for it! Although it’s mostly negative I definitely want to emphasize that there was a lot to enjoy about this book, it just wasn’t for me. - Four Dead Queens starts off pretty intriguing, and I liked the perspectives that we get to read from in the first half of the book. But at the start of the second half, most of the surprises are revealed (they’re literally just flat out told to you) and we read from a new character’s perspective who I really, really did not like lol. While the sci-fi/fantasy world was interesting, the world-building is poorly done. There’s a lot of “magical fixes” in this book (meaning something I’d never heard of suddenly is introduced and explained to save the day). I did really like Keralie and Varin’s characters - particularly Varin - but the dialogue felt super cheesy and unnatural at different points. By the time I got to the last quarter of the book, all the remaining plot twists fell flat because I just didn’t care anymore. There are also some elements in this book that feel pretty ableist to me, and I’ve read some other reviews that state as much, but since I’m not really qualified to speak to that particular topic I’ll just give a general warning that there’s heavy talk of magical (in this case “technological” but essentially treated the same way as magic) curing, eugenics, and genetic disorder modification. Overall, I think there are a lot better fantasies to spend your time on than this one. Rating: ⭐️⭐️ + 1/2 - Sooo yeah, it wasn’t my favorite. Have you read this book??
