I like to imagine mihawk (29) seeing Perona (11) with Moria and Absalom at a warlord meeting and just going “…….no.” and definitely doesn’t kidnap her (kidnap implies Moria was actively watching out for her; Mihawk would argue he was simply removing her from an unsuitable living situation). Then he realizes HE’S caring for her now.
And who does he know that has a kid (and is already unfortunately acquainted with)?
SHANKS
so they make for the east blue [this is more of an ‘out there’ idea but what if they are stumbled upon by the Whitebeard pirates (yes Shanks has told Newgate many tales about Mihawk but he’s still a Warlord and - is that a kid?? Mihawk has a kid? Mihawk is a father???)
(Mihawk never wanted to lie to an Emperor but he will take any advice he can get)
Newgate sends Marco (and Izo bc perona got attached) to escort them through the Calm Belt] they stop by Shimotsuki Village and who do they run into?? Kuina (8) and her green shadow (7). Mihawk was never interested in having apprentices. but these two. (no he is not reconsidering what are you on about)
Perona meanwhile has been reflecting on her life up until now—
Did Moria give her anything she wanted as soon as she asked? Yes.
But did he listen when she said how uncomfortable she felt around Absolom? did he notice how rarely she left her room? Did Moria actually like her outfits or was he just saying he did so she would leave quicker? Mihawk probably wasn’t even aware she existed before the Warlord meeting.
…so why did he care when Moria didn’t?? Don’t get her wrong, she’s very glad to be an ocean away from Absalom and to not be stuck on an island with no one else her age…..but why did it take so long? why did it take outside intervention? And what does Mihawk gain/want in return?
(it takes a few years before she fully believes Mihawk when he says he didn’t have bad intentions. but she does get there)
—so she’s not as outspoken when these kids sneak aboard and Mihawk doesn’t immediately turn the boat around (he knew they were there the whole time, his observation haki is impeccable) (not to mention the obvious bitterness when Kuina speaks about her dads opinions on her dream or how Zoro never fails to challenge her out of her doubts); it’s simply good fortune that Mihawk planned on staying in the East Blue a while.
(He knows he’ll never hear the end of this from Red-Hair.)
Shanks can’t stop laughing when they meet. Makino does try to stop him for her customers’ sake (I don’t know if Party’s bar is just a bar or what but for this scenario let’s say there are rooms for rent upstairs) but Shanks knows he and Mihawk are both remembering how The World’s Greatest Swordsman reacted to his sparring partner losing an arm for some kid
and here Mihawk is with three of his own.
if i was a smarter person i could come up with an au in which Perona and Zoro were indeed raised in Kuraigana island by a 20-something-year-old Mihawk secretly flying by the seat of his pants. alas. right now all I know is that those two mochi haired hooligans would be even more insufferable as children than as young adults, and that I imagine Bartholomew Kuma would still be the one to hand them to over to Mihawk. “Congratulations on becoming the greatest swordsman in the wolrd! Fatherhood by upon ye.”
#oda give us mihawks backstory#anyways uh#the whole “ghost princess” title implies perona’s got more abilities up her sleeve than just making people negative like#”perona says your captain is also haunting one of your boy’s brothers isn’t that interesting”#*shanks choking on his beer in the distance*#”she HWAT”#and if a clumsy gangly guy with 3 human kids and a Mink cub happen to arrive on Fosha Island 6 months after Doflamingo’s brother—#—mysteriously dies????#Mihawk didn’t see that.#It’s a big world out there and he’s got three priorities of his own to focus on#one piece#goth family#frogtalks

•°♤°• ASL x Sanji AU but what happens if Uta was a sister to ASL? From Film Red we all know that Shanks visited Fosha Village but what would happen if Uta meet the ASL trio? Then Garp gets wind of this, decides this and says: "Shanks I'm just gonna borrow your daughter which is also now my granddaughter and I'm gonna visit The Baratie where my hot ass kicking boyfriend is with his son that my grandsons have a crush on. Thanks" and Shanks is like: "Okay, wait- what?"
Straight up, I still havent seen Red! It doesn't sound fun! Also doesn't shanks just abandon her? Like isn't that a whole thing? There's something about mushrooms? I read this manga I don't watch it, I can't take the sadness animated.
ANYWAY ASL reminiscing out their friend who is Shanks' daughter and lives on the Red Force with his crew which is so unfair because he wouldn't take ASL. They do this every once in a while and it's always good to remember her and hope she's doing well but they're still jealous. Then Garp hears about this and he decides he's going to go grab her for a visit. ASL miss her so hopefully she misses them too and it's like a whole thing when he pulls up to the Red Force and sees the girl described. Shanks asks what the hell he's doing.
"Shanks, you know me, I'm taking your kid to Baratie to see Zeff and my grand boys!" Garp laughs as Uta asks who his boys are. Hearing it's ASL make Beck sigh so long and loud as Shanks sputters and Uta cheers. Uta goes willingly despite what the crew is saying and Garp says to join them if they want and leaves. So he takes Uta to the East Blue and picks up his grandsons who are all cheering at her return and then going to Baratie.
They keep telling Uta she'll love it and it's so good! Amazing even! They can eat as much as they want and no one yells at them! Uta is introduced to Zeff and Sanji and the crew of the Baratie and Sanji is waving at her, if a little unsure, but Zeff treats her like a little princess. After lunch and them all eating their fill ASL drag Uta and Sanji to go play and it's the most fun Uta's had in a while. She loves it! She can't wait to tell Shanks all about it!!!
So when Garp is taking her back later/the next day she keeps asking when she can go back and eat there again and Garp just tells her to bully Shanks into taking her, Grandpa Garp is busy after all. He is a Vice Admiral and Uta pouts at him. Uta is just smiling at him as they find the Red Force and Uta is telling them all about Zeff and Sanji and ASL. Shanks laughs and asks Garp when Zeff got a brat and a restaurant. Garp tells him to find out for himself. Shanks doesn't do that. Uncle Zeff might be the best cook in the world but Zeff will kick his ass over Uta and how she acts.

Need help finding a one piece fanfiction!!!
It might be deleted but even if you just know the tittle and author will help me tremendously.
Anyway the fic was a characters are taken to react but in this one they react to luffy’s past which was a completely original story and not canon
Other things I remember
1.It was on fanfiction.net
2.Luffy had a bio older brother that ace and sabo were jealous of.
3.Luffy doesn’t remember this past since it was traumatic.
4.Luffy’s oc older brother is trying to wake up a monster to destroy the world.
5.Luffy is kid in the story since it takes place before he went to Fosha village
6.It takes place on an island that is the homeland of the entire D clan.
7.Luffy gains a firepower that he received because of “the will of the D’s”

☕️ 🛌 🪐 for the self-ship asks! :D
☕️: What are the most common plots of shipping fics between you and your f/o?
people def like to explore our meeting and the lead-up to me joining the crew!! i think the general consensus by the fans (before my backstory is fully dug into) is that we get together After i join, but theyre going off such little info theres a lot of variation. very fluffy domestic stuff is quite common too, and less shipping but fics where i meet luffy r some of the most common as well.
🛌: What tropes show up in fics involving your ship?
she fell first/he fell harder is common (even tho i personally kinda. hate it sorry). love triangles or poly specifically involving buggy, mihawk, and beckman r also very common. im bad at thinking up tropes i fear,,,, ig we'd be very golden retriever bf/black cat gf too
🪐: What would be your most popular AU and why?
oooo in terms of an "alternate story" kinda au i think there r lots of what-ifs for if i were around for fosha village era, at first surrounding luffy ofc and then later surrounding uta. modern aus r decently common (im often shanks' partner or relegated to friend status) but if i do go with the kid pirates capture me idea theres also aus where i stay w them i think. the occasional marine au (bleh) BUT i also think as a bit of trivia oda mentions im a bit of an intellectual and politically aware, which spawns aus where i join the ra instead of the rhp 🙂↕️🙂↕️ ooooo if/when the figarland shanks reveal happens that also spawns some celestial dragon aus for me i think. my whole backstory is largely unsaid for most of the series obvi so ppl will get wild w it
send in some selfship questions!

I like to seek out different foods. This is not too special, but I live in a suburb.if DC and we have a LOT of interesting grocery stores. There are, of course, the various pan-Asian stores: sure, Lotte Plaza is Korean, but they carry Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, &c. There are Indian grocery stores. There are Latin American grocery stores. There's a specifically Turkish place down the street. There's a Polish store. A Russian store (which has, since the invasion started, been quietly trying to rebrand as "Eastern European").
But today, we will be visiting one of the Arabic grocery stores.
My FosHa is super rusty, but I still make falafel and laffa and hummus once in a while. And whenever I am in such a store I keep my eyes out for other interesting things.
So that is where I discovered a Getman brand - Sinalco. Yes, a German brand of soda, with a French name (Sin - without, alco - alcohol ), sold in an Arabic grocery store.
Now often I'm looking for canned coffee or odd fruit drinks, but sure. Most of them were run of the mill flavors. One, though, was clear and had no indication of the flavor.
Yeah, what even is this?
I bought it. I looked online.
There is nothing online in any language I can read, suggesting what flavor this is.
I tried it.
Mint. It's mint soda.
Do you inow what mint soda is like when it's 90+⁰F and 85% humidity?
I don't know why this isn't a thing. In Morocco they drink hot green tea with mint and jaggery. And apparently in Lebanon they drink mint soda.

To deal with emotional trauma, we need to process disgust.
As trauma psychotherapists, we know that helping patients process painful emotions is crucial for recovery. However, research shows that disgust is often overlooked in therapy, to the detriment of the patient. Disgust is important to understand for trauma treatment, especially in the face of current events like the pandemic, political unrest, the rise in hate crimes against people of color, and war.
Named by neuroscientists as one of humans’ first evolving emotions, disgust is a natural response to poisonous stimuli like rotten foods, infectious diseases, and unsafe environments. In this way, disgust helps us ward off illness and danger. However, what many people don’t realize is that this emotion also arises when we’re violated, oppressed, and abused—all forms of trauma that can lead to anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
For trauma survivors, disgust exerts a force to be experienced (named, felt, listened to, and released). But when people come in for therapy, they don’t disclose their disgust by name. They can’t, because it’s buried by defenses to block it from conscious awareness. All that the survivors feel are symptoms like anxiety, depression, and low self-confidence.
Had Irene’s father or another close family member validated her anxiety by acknowledging her mother was wrong and had behaved in abusive ways, Irene may have felt seen. But victim blaming and “minimizing” can cause survivors like Irene to criticize and shame themselves, leading them to internalize disgust. Unlike discarding spoiled food, disgust-induced trauma cannot be escaped, and the unspeakable sense of disgust often shows up in the body. Like Irene, many patients exhibit the “gape face.” Others disclose distressing compulsions like repeated hand-washing or showering. Still others just show up with anxiety and depression.
In some cases, patients will project their disgust toward others onto their therapists with statements like “You’re probably so grossed out by what I’m saying,” or “I don’t want to say anything else, because I don’t want to traumatize you.” These words are clues that they perceive disgust coming from their therapist, rather than within themselves. Behaviors like these are emotional armor, which works to protect us from overwhelming emotions.
To help patients like Irene, we use a trauma therapy called accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (known as AEDP). Developed in 2000 by psychologist Diana Fosha, this newer model of psychotherapy combines affective neuroscience, trauma theory, attachment theory, and rapid transformation theories. This type of emotion-focused therapy gets to the root problem, using the catalytic power of “core emotions” like disgust, sadness, anger, and joy to turbocharge brain change, also known as neuroplasticity. This stands in stark contrast with medicating symptoms of mood disorders or using behavioral tools to change thinking and behaviors.
Working with painful emotions can feel like being asked to touch a burning flame, which is why the first step in trauma therapy is to help patients feel safe and remind them that they’re in control. For instance, we say, “If there is something I ask that doesn’t feel right, will you let me know?”
To maintain safety, AEDP therapists watch for when anxiety is rising outside the patient’s “window of tolerance.” We track the patient’s physical movements, because as author and trauma psychotherapist Babette Rothschild says, “the body remembers.”
For instance, when patients like Irene sigh or wring their hands, we know anxiety is rising—and we need to bring it back down before continuing with any disgust processing. We might ask: “Can you tune in to that big sigh? What is it telling us? Can you notice your hands? If they could speak, what would they say?”
Trauma therapists listen with our eyes as well as our ears to seize glimmers of emotions and notice the defenses that patients are unaware of. When delivered with compassion and curiosity and without judgment, this type of emotional attunement fosters deep trust and confidence.
When patients like Irene share a painful memory, they may unknowingly laugh or talk very quickly. This is understandable; defenses like laughter helped us survive. Ultimately, though, processing the underlying core emotions can help people relinquish maladaptive—albeit protective—coping mechanisms.
To do so, we draw attention to patients’ nonverbal communication by gently pointing out the discrepancy between laughter and the upsetting memory. Then we invite them to slow down and notice the emotions that are rising to the surface. “As you slowly scan your body below the neck, what do you notice?” we ask.
Patients may point to their stomachs, aware that they’re nauseous or feel like throwing up. Such clues can help patients identify and name the disgust that’s driving their physical symptoms. Once the patient names a feeling like nausea, we ask, “Is there an emotion word that goes with that feeling?”
If the patient struggles to name the emotion, we thread together the clues they’ve provided by referencing how their bodies do the talking. We might say, “When you spoke about your mother, your nose wrinkled up like you were smelling something bad. It was a look of disgust on your face.” With prompting, patients can often uncover the emotion, arriving at an “aha” moment. “It is disgust!” they might say.
Not even all therapists receive a formal education in how emotions work in the mind and body, much less your average patient—so it’s unsurprising many patients believe that feeling sad, angry, or disgusted means they’re weak in some way or hurting the person responsible for their trauma, whom they may also love. However, the process of naming and describing emotions and sensations, which scientists call “affect labeling,” calms the nervous system, research has found. In one study, participants were shown various photos of people expressing negative emotions, and researchers used brain imaging to examine the impact of participants naming these emotions. The result? Labeling helped temper immediate emotional reactivity. Emotions researchers have also found that putting words to feelings fosters long-term benefits. For instance, people who completed 16 sessions of AEDP therapy had fewer symptoms—such as depression—and more positive emotions—such as self-compassion—and these effects held steady 12 months after treatment ended.

“There is something in being seen that brings forth growth. If you beam the light of your attention on me, I blossom. If you see great potential in me, I will probably come to see great potential in myself. If you can understand my frailties and sympathize with me when life treats me harshly, then I am more likely to have the strength to weather the storms of life. “The roots of resilience,” the psychologist Diana Fosha writes, “are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of a loving, attuned, and self-possessed other.” In how you see me, I will learn to see myself.”

you know the infamous scene from shrek 2?
well i want a whole series of fantasy OSHA shenanigans.
santa is fined a few million dollars in a class action suit following elven worker complaints of a too-cold work environment and a lack of fume hoods/proper protective equipment when dealing with paints in the toy decorating department. we’re not even going to get into the suit about deferred workman’s comp when the woodworkers run afoul of the lathe.
a disgruntled house brownie living in the walls of a human establishment built before 1975, and they have done nothing to abate the asbestos in the walls. how is anyone supposed to get anything done like this?
the unlikely alliance of a jumogoro and a tanuki living in the employ of a ryoshi, both pissed about the quality of the work-sponsored healthcare; the jumogoro because it doesn’t cover birth control and spiders have A Lot Of Babies At Once, and the tanuki because there aren’t any veterinarians in network.
