Finished all the individual chapters of Live A Live :D

Edo Japan: I have so many mixed feelings about this one xD So many game over too! I think once I was able to level up enough against the ghosts I got really into it, but the chapter plays a really mean trick on you if you want the bonus sword an full pacifist run ;w; But on the other hand, the sequence of events that ruined my run was really fun, and there’s a lot of fun intrigue going on in the castle to discover if you’re willing to murder your way through a little. I don’t think I would want to do a genocide run though. Seems like a pain ^^”

My final kill counter was 8

Distant Future: Cube my beloved T_T I love Cube, I love the atmosphere and the plot of this chapter, and all the little worldbuilding to discover but... I’m not good at survival horror. Anytime the behemoth showed up my brain shut off orz. I probably missed a lot because of this.

It’s a little unfortunate that everything I love about the horror genre is also the main reason I don’t play it ^^”

Wild West: My big takeaway from this chapter is I need all the Sundown & Mad Dog interactions! This chapter was short and sweet and very fun. The aesthetics! The cheesy western dialogue! Mad Dog! The Horse!

I am never getting over the horse.

Middle Ages: And here we go - the chapter that turns everything on its head and......... is kind of tedious to play tbh ^^” I’m also not sure how I feel about Oersted as a silent protagonist - on the one hand, we don’t know if Streibough and Alethea are assigning personality traits to him to justify their own actions. But on the other, there may be some truth to it! I’d like to think it’s a bit of both. Oersted was arrogant and self-centered and lost in the hero sauce, but they also both suck.

Anyway, Uranus & Hasshe are the real highlights of this chapter for me.

But the biggest heroes are the localization team who wrote the whole chapter in iambic pentameter! I loved that so much!

So there I am 12 years old, I don't know how the word Cicada is pronounced, and I don't even know its a kind of bug, but I have seen it used in a sentence like "the cicadas are singing". So OBVIOUSLY I assume its a kind of bird, and my brain simply starts autocorrecting the word to CHICKADEE every single time I see it.

Now I'm 24 and I have in fact figured out what a cicada is at this point. But even so I struggle to not read the word as chickadee every single time

So I love House because it's one of the only shows I've ever seen that acknowledges how hard life can be while also having fun with it all the way down. He makes Wilson a fun video in the c word, like seriously.

And the inherent complex morality of how screwed up the characters are. Like how they deliberately hurt others, or accidentally do, and how all of those motives are not always but often the same motives that drive them to do their kindest acts. How hard it is to show up and how fear and pain make us act out. How showing up and connecting is the key

ZEVANA MOMENT SPOTTED!!!!

IT'S HER. IT'S THEM. Sorry but I am so stuck on that last bit where it mentions she and Zevran have their own battles to fight. I was talking a bit ago about how Milana ends up finding her sense of self and purpose that she's struggled through most of the game and y'know... Milana has found herself bound and doomed to the duty and fate of a Grey Warden while Zevran, a man who has found his freedom through her, chose to remain by her side. The circumstances of that is ironic in and of itself (and I love how much irony plays in their story, esp with Zev) but I think as they continue their relationship after everything it only cements her new perspective in life. She didn't even realize it's been in front of her the whole time. What is Zev doing taking on the Crows not only an act to fight and preserve his personal freedom, but an act of love if it meant he can choose to stay beside his Warden? ("For the chance to be by your side I would storm the Dark City itself. Never doubt it." anyone?? 😭!) What is choosing to be beside her during her travels no matter if this chase to find the cure leads to a dead end if not an act of love?

I think she may have been a bit slower to the realization than Zev was about what she wanted out of her life after all that's happened. Yet here he was; he's been choosing her this whole time. And now with Milana searching for the Calling's cure... she would not resign herself to that terrible fate and what is that if not a defiant act of love? Fighting to persevere against all doomed odds if it meant being able to remain beside Zevran just as he does her? They saved each other. They are choosing each other. Every day, with every battle they face, together or apart.

You know the whole tropes of "I would die for you"? Nah, for to these two it's "I want to live for you." "I don't want to be doomed, I want to live." IT'S ALL ABOUT LOVE BABY!!!

I changed my discord status to "Only YOU can create forest fires!" with the This Is Fine dog emoji during the Candela episode, and it is admittedly very funny with regards to my dnd games this weekend, in the first of which I was aggressively pushing for arson in the middle of the Colorado wilderness, and in the second of which I have been emphatically told not to further assault a tree.

Pre-History & Near Future chapters done :D

Pre-History - Very cute and simple RPG chapter with a lot of slapstick humor and no dialogue. I feel like I missed a lot of secrets in this one but it was a fun chapter with a lot of good battle skills (Sing Hurt trivializes everything haha). Beru’s sprite is also very cute.

Near Future - I was most excited for this chapter because it’s an homage to Giant Robot Anime and I’m a huge fan of those. There is a lot in this chapter (and a lot of secrets I know I missed ;w;) and I would want to watch a 50 episode anime about Akira and the Steel Titan :3

But also once again this chapter is dark! Pre-history was generally lighthearted especially compared to Imperial China & Present Day, but this one gives us a named character body count once again and the W-1 fight is brutal both from a story and battle standpoint. I think this is the only battle I felt like I was close to losing (I had one healing item left)

Akira’s party doesn’t really feel as strong as the ones in previous chapters which is a shame because he’s my favorite so far. He’s very blorbo-shaped.

He was also one of the only teachers that, when I freaked out about it being 'Honors' physics (Me? Math!? No!) told me that I could handle it, and that he believed in me.
