a bit of info on lady fortuna

fortuna is the roman goddess of fortune, fate, and luck. she is different from other similar deities because she is essentially blind when dealing out fate and fortune. her being random with fate makes sense because chance isn’t something that could be considered “fair”.

she is often depicted with a blindfold over her eyes to show that fate is blind.

signs and symbols of fortuna: wheel of fortune, cornucopias, ship wheels, wreaths, wheat

offerings to fortuna: water, berries, rosemary, coins, cornucopias, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla incense, and crystals like carnelian, sunstone, and green aventurine

devotional acts associated with fortuna: practicing divination, letting go of that need for control that we all have, meditation, and playing games that are all about chance

1) the cosmosdex is a fictional encyclopedia about a fucked up space odyssey that features like a bazillion entries on various species, gods, planets, etc, while also happening to have a homestuck esque webcomic attached. think the scp wiki but instead of monsters it's a wide range of sci-fi horror concepts like "entire species bred to give up their children for experiments and suffer Actual Real Mental Harm if their conditioning is broken" and also earnestly stupid walking shitpost things like "what if there was a race of countryhuman orbs that were also collectively communists". both of these are real examples and both of them exist simultaneously in-universe. it's beautiful. i highly recommend it. blame @superoffbatter for showing it to me a while back, i've been quietly purusing and enjoying ever since

2) you'd probably be delighted to know there are MULTIPLE traits which i think fit terry disturbingly well. and by that i mean multiple traits that are essentially just "guy who is a simp"

you may notice most of these are negative traits. this is because terry sucks (affectionate)

domani la giornata della memoria quindi non so cosa fare stasera e sto guardando fazio dove ovviamente ci sono la segre ecc. e quello che penso è che crescendo in italia a scuola abbiamo sempre ricordato questa giornata, fossero film, discussioni in classe, libri. e io ho sempre avuto grande rispetto, grande interesse, grande compassione, al punto che negli anni ho scoperto la bellezza della letteratura ebraica del novecento ad esempio (che è bellissima).

però io mi chiedo...da persona araba che soffre per i suoi fratelli arabi io mi chiedo...loro quand'è che provano compassione per il mondo arabo. loro quand'è che proveranno lo stesso rispetto, lo stesso interesse, la stessa gentilezza. quand'è che degneranno i perseguitati di oggi della stessa delicatezza. blaterano di una persecuzione che oggi non c'è e chiudono gli occhi di fronte ad un genocidio ormai quasi centenario. Mi stanno facendo diventare insensibile e l'hanno voluto loro con tutta questa indifferenza.

y’all remember this little statue i inherited from my grandmother? yeah after MONTHS of trying to figure out whose spirit was literally radiating off of it, i’ve come to realize it’s fortuna.

i’ve cleansed her again, did some questioning/vetting, and we’ve come to an agreement of worship and working together!

so i used to play in a modified dnd game that was set in a sort of fantasy early modern merchant republic, and my character was the ghost of a knight who'd been dead & asleep for 100s of years, since the area was part of a feudal monarchy. so his main thing was was being a fish out of water & grieving the loss of that world + his place within it

BUT he DID find a new purpose, namely, dedicating himself to the service of one of the other player characters. she was a vampire countess from a part of the world that was still doing feudalism. she was strong & a good fighter, but he still LOVED trying to protect/do things for her. she was a natural leader & he loved following her. to him, she represented the elegance & order of the life he left behind. the irony being that she was actually a progressive, irreverent free spirit who hated being a countess & was always trying to find her own identity away from that world. but out of kindness or convenience she let him be her knight

anyways. it still makes me insane whenever i think about it. lady & knight dynamic. undead goths. non-zero amount of innuendo about swords. in one adventure they literally went undercover as a married couple. head in my hands
