"World class", "I'm in love", "Great impact" - Many Celtic fans drooling over 6 ft ace

Nine months after Patrick Roberts departed from Celtic the fans have a brand new hero to worship and ponder how to retain at the club.

When his name was first mentioned at Christmas time as a possible arrival there were unfounded concerns that he may be a celebrity signing bearing in mind the reputation of his father. It’s not often that you find the son of a President rolling up his sleeves to get stuck into a Scottish title challenge.

Nonetheless, expectations when he came on as a substitute against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup were high, and by the time the final whistle blew they had been raised further with a debut goal and genuine celebration. In after match interviews he seemed a very genuine and grounded kid, which is some achievement considering his background.

Another goal coming off the bench against St Mirren confirmed that the strike against Airdrie wasn’t a fluke. Celtic had acquired a player with the rare combination of blistering pace matched with the instinct of a poacher around goal.

With James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard picking up injuries in Sunday’s victory over St. Johnstone, the 6 foot striker looks set to play from the start against Hibs on Wednesday �� the Edinburgh side have been well warned!

This is the first episode Eloise, Forrest, and Landon have appeared since their debuts, the first Ellie talks onscreen, and the first Landon doesn’t speak.

This is the first appearance of Ingrid since Sore Losers and Scarlett’s first voiced appearance since her debut.

This is the first appearance of multiple incidentals; Cedric, Cree, Russell, Orchid, Hermes, Lupe, and Reese. Shamus also returns after debuting in Hiring Squad. This is the first time multiple side characters outside of the city’s defined workforce (so far Siren, Jade, Nathan, and Mr. Boss) have dialogue.

Hermes, Orchid, and Lupe all previously appeared in Rough Sketch under different colors and thus names. Hermes in particular was completely redesigned and is unrecognizable from his original appearance due to taking the design of another character who has yet to debut.

This is the second appearance of Mayor Elroy, setting up his role in episode 42.

Reese (originally designed as Brando and colored cognac) was made as a catch all “douchebag” character whose suffering would be played for laughs. The fact he happens to have the same name Fuchsia did in Rough Sketch is a welcome coincidence.

Cree was named “Daryl” in between stages of development. The only reason she isn’t called that here is because I legitimately forgot I changed it. I might change it back in her next appearance.

As of this episode, Scarlett’s skin and Eloise’s hair have been slightly redesigned.

Tyler was originally meant to speak in this episode, but his line was cut for space.

No Gray Drewmans appear. This is also a rare episode where none of the core six characters show up. If one did, it would be Violet to round out the cards motif Eloise, Fuchsia, and Forrest have.

Just to clarify, the last panel is supposed to be a play on words (“You do you”), not a suicide dare. I want to make that clear.

Development

Forrest, along with Alexandre, Veronica, and Landon, were designed as Rosie’s age mates, Forrest (formerly Don) initially being a small, timid child who could talk to animals and wandered around in the woods. This concept itself was recycled from Lyman’s prototype and was ultimately used for Cedric. Don was conceived as being celadon rather than forest green, his color scheme going to Dante. Uniquely, Forrest was redesigned and then aged up; he was initially incredibly tiny, was made into one of the taller characters, and then made an adult. He wasn’t to be too terribly developed at the time, but he quickly evolved into a much more aware, crafty, and social version of himself.

This marks the first appearance of Aaron, Ivan, and Forrest. The former had previously debuted in Rough Sketch (Aaron being named “Barry”), while Forrest was slated for Season Four before the continuity was canned.

This episode went through two changes in development. Originally it was a group brainstorming session that additionally featured Olive, Paige, Amber, Aziz, and Coco. Then it turned into something similar to the final version, but with the incident being mainly Geneva’s fault for dragging the three newbies into it. In the latter, the idea of seniority allowing ICT members to tell newcomers what to would have been planted in Jen’s head by Aziz, but it was scrapped.

No orange, yellow, or violet Drewmans appear, nor do any Primary Characters.

This is Whitney’s first appearance since “You’re Not the Boss of Me” and her first appearance to not involve Violet or Noah.

Keeper of Harmony

Wannabe Disney Prince Forrest is a youthful soul. While he towers over most of the cast, his chirpy nature, altruistic spirit, big sparkly eyes, a tendency break into song means basically everyone in ICT tends to fawn over him. Even their harsher members at worst tend to write him off as just a harmless dip.

…And that’s what he’s counting on.

Fun Facts

Forrest’s surname is a corruption of matcha.

Forrest (forest green) is one of several characters to change colors and names on development, starting off as Don (celadon).

Forrest’s initial concept was a small boy who mostly hung out in the woods and talked to animals. The idea was retooled into Cedric (citron).

Forrest’s exact hairdo wasn’t finalized until relatively late in development.

Forrest continues the theme of Green type Drewmans (Chloe, Clarence, Lyman and from his season, Monty and Olive) having an eye motif.

Forrest’s final characterization is a play on how the name “Snow White” is formatted.

Forrest’s been through a lot in the past. It’s why he’s so positive all the time. And, much more to the point, it’s why he’s so cunning.

Forrest keeps birds, bugs, and a grown alligator in his massive, tree-like afro.
